Hello,
I have a galaxy S2, with the standard update from 4.1.2 ( non rooted ), after the update the battery started falling out, for example : it's 80% and it falls out, I put it back on and it won't go on. After a couple times it's 1%. I charge it and suddenly it's 60%. So I rooted it and flashed AOKP milestone 1. It's less now, but the problem is still there. Can this be solved by simply buying a new battery or not?
Thanks in advance,
L

It sounds to me like a failing battery. Is it showing signs of bloating? If you rest it on a flat surface does it 'wobble'? The fact that it keeps on falling out indicates that it isn't fitting flush in the compartment which would indicate some malformation. Also the other symptoms you describe (the erratic battery percentage figures) indicate a battery that is beginning to fail as well........

Calibrate your battery
1) You can't calibrate an SGS2 battery so don't waste your time trying.
2) Yes, your battery is cactus. Buy a new one.
I will, still cheaper than a new phone! Thank you fellas

I got my galaxy s2 (international version) about 4 months ago. Recently I've noticed some weird battery drain mostly when I restart my phone, but it happens other times just out of the blue.
It might be a software bug not showing the proper battery level, but I've attached pictures that show normal battery drain even after that jump down. Obviously, if it was a a software fault the battery percentage should remain level or go up slightly. (Yes the battery level does go up a bit, but I lose significantly more battery than I gain.)
This has happened in many instances and I've only got a screenshot of two. Sometimes I get big discharge and at other times its small. It's pretty annoying when you think you've got enough battery and go out, only to find the phones dropped 20-30% out of nowhere.
My phone is unlocked and not branded (bought from carphone warehouse UK- CPW). It's running stock XXKI4 firmware (2.3.4) and I'm not rooted.
So my question is, has anyone else seen this happen or have I got a faulty battery? Is there a fix?
Hi there,
Battery drain is one one the main argouments you can find in this forums. ATM I'm in your same condition: after latets ROM ugrade (I've got latest CheckROM release), my phone "sucks" al lot more battery than before.
A lot of things could affect this: themes, skin, kernel, application bug, bad battery checking and so on. There isn't a valid answer... I think you must indagate on yourself, comparing what you find with forum's infos!!
Good luck!!

There are several threads about battery drain.
For example here => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16973603
Maybe you find a useful tip.
You have always test it on your phone under your conditions.
You can try to flash special (Custom) ROMs and kernels, which are optimized for better battery life, but as there are so many different influences on battery life, it is nearly impossible to find a general "fix" for all users and phones.
Good luck!
well at least yours lasts 15 hours, mine lasts at most 10 hours on heavy usage.
P.S. I am using 2.3.5
As to Anwser to those "drops" or "gaps" in the graph, just recently i noticed that my phone was working normally, i was monitoring its battery drain (i have a thread going on about it), and after some time of no using, after class, i noticed that my phone asks for my SIM PIN again, and is in Safe Mode (i dont really know what that it). When i checked the battery monitoring graph (battery info) i notice the absolutr same fall (from 70% to 40%), but i remember that i saw and used my phone at 60-50% too ! So i can only assume that the phone crashes, eighter reboots for some reason, and the data isnt saved (for example it saves the data every 2 hours or so), so there appears the "gap".
Thats simply my opinion, but i do remember using the phone at the % between the two extremes (IN the gap), so i guess the data wasnt saved.
EDIT: Ha! I'll add some pis now to show you guys this: so in my current history i have two gaps, one big, and one smaller before. So, the first time, i turned off the phone and PULLED OUT THE BATTERY aswell cause i wanted to check my batteries mAh (its 1650 but thats offtopic). Thats how the small gap appeared ! As for the big one, my phone seemed to crash and reboot while i didnt notice, because in an hour or so of no using i woke it up and it asked for the SIM PIN.
So there, i think the phone eighter crashes or doesnt manages to save the battery data, and those gaps ("falls") appear.

Hi All,
I am facing a wired scenario right now.
My phone works good however once it reaches around 75% battery or 25% battery it suddenly switches off stating battery zero.
When i try to restart, it doesnt start, however if i put it on charging even for two minutes it starts working and lets say it switched off on 75% so will still show me 75% and in one time on the battery charge graph i can see that battery went down from 75 to zero instantly.
My Device is 1 1/2 yrs old and by my signature you can understand that i have not been very kind with my device.
I was using tweaked stock rom i tried changing to few other roms also so doesn't looks like a software flaw to me.
When i checked with a local sony repair Shop they are asking me to submit it atleast for a day and then will inform me about the issue. I thought i would first check here to see if some things i could try.
Note : I did tried wiping the battery status 4-5 times.

My actual rom was a stock rom only i have just removed some apk's from it and tweaked hosts file.
Anyways i was using doomlord's tweaked SE kernel but you are right i will give it a day or two on stock ROM complete non rooted Stock.
Right now i am able to find some pattern behind the shutdown. Like right now if i keep phone on 2G its not causing the issue however switching to 3G causes the pain
. Anyways i need to replace backcover also so i am planing to purchase a battery and backcover from ebay.in costing me < 30USD (< 1500 Rs). (Official repair center is suggesting nearly 3-4 times the charge for replacing same parts.)
I've got this problem right now apart from mine does it from 85% the problem is the battery cells are separating as I was told in a similar question I posted up about the same Topic the battery is dying low load on phone keeps it ok but using 3g and WiFi and videos and that it eats up what's left in the few good cells then dies as I type now my battery was at 100% just took it off charge and now it has dropped 4% so far plan on getting a new battery for your phone also I've noticed that the battery has swelled up abit and the back cover doesn't fit properly aswell have you got that issue aswell?

Exactly what happened in my case.
I did some test's and was waiting for the results. so there is what happened.
i didn't noticed but the battery was a bit swollen. repalced with a new battery purchased on ebay and its giving me all the good times.
so if we face a issue where we see random shutdowns coupled with quick battery exhausiting then this is a job of dieing battery.
P.S. Sony center was selling battery at 2900 INR where is i got the battery from ebay @ 900 INR.
Well i think i also know the reason of my battery dieing on me. I was using my kindle fire charger to charge my battery which is double the capacity. which i think is the reason for the messup on battery.
Dont use different chargers, amp output is different.. Once in a while is fine but not regularly

When I am using my samsung galaxy s2 I use it for quite a while and it freezes so I have to remove the battery and start it again. However when I start it again the battery level drops dramatically from 56 % to 12%. Also the phone has a mind of its own and turns on whenever so yesterday night I removed the battery as a test and when i put the battery in again the phones battery level rose. From 12% to 17%. Also my phone has recently got really hot even when not in use just idling. Currently I am running stock jelly bean 4.1.2. As sad as it seems I didnt have any problems with ICS and would love to go back to it but at the same time want to stay on jelly bean. It was meant to make life easier but it just makes it hell. Anybody else have the same experience or is it just me any suggestions?

Replace USB board/port. Gets covered all the time here; search for similar threads. You need to look at the board that's currently in the phone & buy the exact same one, there are 4 different 'revisions' & if you get the wrong one your phone may not work properly or boot.
Edit - Also, I'd be trying another battery as well.
My samsung galaxy s2 has some inconvenience issues to be solved. Since last month ago it begin warning high voltage when charging the turn-on phone. Then it would stop the charging the battery . It can be charged only if I turned off the phone and turned it on when it says 100%.
Not sure whether was the battery go wrong and its battery life already very crappy, and the things even worse when the phone was upgraded( it drained a lot as constantly searching for 4G). In fact a few weeks before, I asked help from friends borrowed his MPJ spare battery for this battery issue. His replacement battery was better but why Sprint and Samsung know this is the major complaint but still have failed to correct ever…
I also have been to store but nothing is solved unless to pay to have it back to repair. then I have to begin purchased extended batteries(one even have much higher capacity at amazing 5000mAh) and chargers followed with the friend who helped me so that i keep several charged and ready to change out as needed. but i still wonder anyone know why it would warning the high voltage and it did not appear again after changing batteries?
Could be the battery, but you fail to mention which version of the S2 you have (assume you have the i777) AND what you upgraded the firmware to. If you did a stock OTA update and you're not rooted, there's really nothing anyone can help you with other than suggest a new battery.
If you're rooted, I would flash a different rom first before investing in a replacement battery.
If you decide to get a new battery, I recently bought this one for $5 and can vouch for it's compatibility (minus NFC, which has never really worked properly for our phone anyway).
You will find after a fresh flash most roms will seem to consume more battery than it used to. Give it a few charging cycles before you decide that your battery is bad,or the rom, or the kernel is bad. It may need to settle in a bit.
Sweet deal on the battery Steve:thumbup:

Hi everyone, I got a SGS3 for about 5 months, the week I got it I had to change the battery because it was'nt working properly, when I got this one whitch is 'original' made by samsung it says it's NFC support but NFC didn't work(Never root of flashed)!
Till now I haven't change it. Now after making a few time root, costum rom, stock, root, battery calibration(few times), costum rom, I noticed that the Battery is gooing FAT!! I had removed battery and let phone off.
What I am going to ask is: Is the problem that Battery was BAD or is it with root, flash, calibration, or anything else?
Now I am going to get a new battery
Nothing to do with flashing your phone mate. You just got a bad battery and a fat battery can also explode too so dont even think about keeping it as a backup.Ive heard some bad batteries even affect the performance of some phones so when you get the new go back into the phone and tick the NFC options and try to send a photo.Might work this time.

Duplicate one's never say they are duplicate. you have to buy them from samsung stores(if possible), because Samsung themselves don't sell duplicate.. Flashing, Rooting and calibrating, custom roms don't do anything with battery(except battery draining in some ROM's).. So buy original one..
Battery cell is under pressure due to charge/discharge gas build up, safety vent has either failed to operate or isn't fitted (fake battery). Dispose immediately for recycling and don't be tempted to charge it ever again.
