Hi everyone, I got a SGS3 for about 5 months, the week I got it I had to change the battery because it was'nt working properly, when I got this one whitch is 'original' made by samsung it says it's NFC support but NFC didn't work(Never root of flashed)!
Till now I haven't change it. Now after making a few time root, costum rom, stock, root, battery calibration(few times), costum rom, I noticed that the Battery is gooing FAT!! I had removed battery and let phone off.
What I am going to ask is: Is the problem that Battery was BAD or is it with root, flash, calibration, or anything else?
Now I am going to get a new battery
Nothing to do with flashing your phone mate. You just got a bad battery and a fat battery can also explode too so dont even think about keeping it as a backup.Ive heard some bad batteries even affect the performance of some phones so when you get the new go back into the phone and tick the NFC options and try to send a photo.Might work this time.

Duplicate one's never say they are duplicate. you have to buy them from samsung stores(if possible), because Samsung themselves don't sell duplicate.. Flashing, Rooting and calibrating, custom roms don't do anything with battery(except battery draining in some ROM's).. So buy original one..
Battery cell is under pressure due to charge/discharge gas build up, safety vent has either failed to operate or isn't fitted (fake battery). Dispose immediately for recycling and don't be tempted to charge it ever again.
A lithium fire in your home, or worse your pocket, will ruin your whole day.

Hi to all, my problem is the following one. I've a Samsung Galaxy S2 and 2 months ago my original battery is coming up fat (Physical dimensions) and the charge was minimun until the back battery cover doesn't fit on phone. The solution was replace the battery for another one almost original (no original from Samsung, is too expensive in Argentina).
From here, i had so much problems with the battery comsuption. The charge only last 16 hours and the phone shutdown.. The comsuption really decrease too fast and it's is very nuisance. When the charge coming up to 45%, the screen has flahses of light for sectors and shutdown immediately. Then, when i connect the phone with the wall charger, show me the charging and its percent is more than 25%, is so rare..
In other words, with 45% of battery the phone shutdown and must charge it to the wall, when, obviously, the battery doesn't uncharged completely.
Besides, the performance of phone is to slow, when come in the settings menu, take 2-3 seconds to show me the list of options, and this delay is in almost all of daily uses, is very sad.
I'ts necessary to clarify that i already flash with anothers ROMs (Jelly Bean Oficial has the poor performance of all others) with WIPE included. Besides, i used various CWM scripts to realize full class of wipe process but the problem is continuos happening ...
When i was using Ice Cream Sandwich i don't have this problems..
What is the problem here? What can i do to resolve this?
Thanks in advance
Firstly, you should check the voltage with an app. For eg Gsam Battery monitor.
I have my original samsung battery, and here, the app shows 4,193v at full chagre.
This app can also calculate remaining time, and monitoring apps eating too much power
Try it! As you mentioned, you wiped everyting many times... I hope you did battery calibration too!
If you find out that, the voltage is lower at 100%, than you have to buy another battery
You can thank Cristina for that generic battery Lucho.
Anyway, tried going back to ICS to see if the issue persists?
My guess is on the battery, where did you get the phone? if the battery got swollen then you should go out there and claim a faulty battery.
Of course, you'll need to go carrier-baranded-stock to do that.

Hi, i don't like the actual goverment .
Y downloaded that battery tool and the voltage is 4,178v, is that ok? Never touch it, i was flashed the phone some many times and voltage tool it's integrated in the ROM, but never use it..
This app say me that the "health" of battery is good. The phone buy to one person that get phones of Asia and it's unbranded. The phone works ok until that problem appears .
For me, the problem is in the ROM, it's handle wrong the comsuption of battery. I'll download another ICS ROM and test!
As soon as possible i'll answer to us!!
Thanks!
My remark about Cristina was meant to be read like this : "Agradecele a Cristina por esa bateria trucha ya que las originales salen caras al ser importadas".
Go ahead and flash ICS and see how it behaves. The safe bet will be to get the original one.
You mentioned you bought it from a guy who gets them in Asia, are you sure it's not an I9100G model?
Are you sure it's not a knock off battery?
Do you still have the swollen battery?
If so, can you post a pic of it?

Hello everyone,
I' have an Xperia Neo V that has been working quite well for a year and a half. However, sometime after I rooted the battery started discharging faster, and doing so while the phone was off (no standby: power button and shutdown).
At first I suspected the root process did something wrong with the firmware, but after returning to stock using SEUS, the behavior remains.
Just for this thread I charged the phone to 98% and 7 hours later phone was at 74%. Again, phone is supposed to be off.
I'm going to check this weekend how long does the battery last with phone on using the stock firmware. I remembered that the phone with light use could last for two days (48 hours).
The only difference remaining between a standard phone and mine is the hacked unlocked bootloader (using the S1tool) to avoid using the official unlocker.
I can restore the bootloader, but I unlocked the bootloader AFTER the problem started (so I could try different kernels).
Any suggestions? Is the battery or its controller broken? I can try different kernels, but I doubt these make much of a difference when the phone is supposed to be off.
Thanks to everyone
somtimes init.d overscripts on start up...which can result in battery drain....phone off has nothing to do with battery loss...use stable kernel..or lock your bootloader and customize the stock....their are many ways to improve battery using different mods available...these days the customization on stock has been made easier...thanks to many developers here...check out themes and apps section

I find it brutal the loss of over 20% of battery in less than 2 minutes when turning on the phone, whereas other moments turning on the phone after an hour or two off only drained around 5%...
I am going to lock the bootloader as I suspect I'll have to send it for repairs, but I'd like to know if a software could cause this situation.

some of the common reasons for battery drain in these situations are
some kernels put zipalign script on every startup
many tweaks are initiated in start up
this may lead battery to heat up quickly....overclocking is another major factor for battery weakening....for me i know i won't get a new mobile till next year so ....i am preffering stock sony so that i must worry less about such issues....try your s1tool for locking...and de-bloat the rom....my stock rom provides me insane 3 days battery backup
I seriously doubt that is the issue, yesterday I left the phone with around 30% of charge, and upon turning it on today, it was completely dead.
The phone is now locked, running with the original firmware, and yet the issue persist. I could try a gingerbread build from Sony Ericsson, but the ICS build didn't used to do this.
Remember that it couldn't even turn on today, no Sony Ericsson logo, no vibration, no nothing. The phone lost 30% of charge overnight.
You may need to replace the battery after ~2 years.
I got my battery replaced and from less than a day battery life, I got full active 2 days now, or 6 days at low usage. My new one is a compatible battery, not original, and costs only ~9usd.
Hello,
I have a galaxy S2, with the standard update from 4.1.2 ( non rooted ), after the update the battery started falling out, for example : it's 80% and it falls out, I put it back on and it won't go on. After a couple times it's 1%. I charge it and suddenly it's 60%. So I rooted it and flashed AOKP milestone 1. It's less now, but the problem is still there. Can this be solved by simply buying a new battery or not?
Thanks in advance,
L

It sounds to me like a failing battery. Is it showing signs of bloating? If you rest it on a flat surface does it 'wobble'? The fact that it keeps on falling out indicates that it isn't fitting flush in the compartment which would indicate some malformation. Also the other symptoms you describe (the erratic battery percentage figures) indicate a battery that is beginning to fail as well........

Calibrate your battery
1) You can't calibrate an SGS2 battery so don't waste your time trying.
2) Yes, your battery is cactus. Buy a new one.
I will, still cheaper than a new phone! Thank you fellas

My samsung galaxy s2 has some inconvenience issues to be solved. Since last month ago it begin warning high voltage when charging the turn-on phone. Then it would stop the charging the battery . It can be charged only if I turned off the phone and turned it on when it says 100%.
Not sure whether was the battery go wrong and its battery life already very crappy, and the things even worse when the phone was upgraded( it drained a lot as constantly searching for 4G). In fact a few weeks before, I asked help from friends borrowed his MPJ spare battery for this battery issue. His replacement battery was better but why Sprint and Samsung know this is the major complaint but still have failed to correct ever…
I also have been to store but nothing is solved unless to pay to have it back to repair. then I have to begin purchased extended batteries(one even have much higher capacity at amazing 5000mAh) and chargers followed with the friend who helped me so that i keep several charged and ready to change out as needed. but i still wonder anyone know why it would warning the high voltage and it did not appear again after changing batteries?
Could be the battery, but you fail to mention which version of the S2 you have (assume you have the i777) AND what you upgraded the firmware to. If you did a stock OTA update and you're not rooted, there's really nothing anyone can help you with other than suggest a new battery.
If you're rooted, I would flash a different rom first before investing in a replacement battery.
If you decide to get a new battery, I recently bought this one for $5 and can vouch for it's compatibility (minus NFC, which has never really worked properly for our phone anyway).
You will find after a fresh flash most roms will seem to consume more battery than it used to. Give it a few charging cycles before you decide that your battery is bad,or the rom, or the kernel is bad. It may need to settle in a bit.
Sweet deal on the battery Steve:thumbup:

Helllo guys!
So here's my story: About 6 months ago i installed this https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/h830-resurrection-remix-6-0-0-t3792258 Ressurrection Remix mod and I was absolutely loving it. Now I started to play Pokémon Go again with colleagues but since my device was rooted it kept crashing so many times that I decided to switch back to stock rom, also in this case I wanted to get my 60FPS video recording possibility back since RR didn't have that function. My battery life was absulutely okay when I had RR, like with normal daily usage i could hold out for 1.5 days without charging it. So basically I flashed back to a stock ROM using a zip from one of the thread around here called "LG-H85030a-Flashable.COMPLETE", though I wanted to be up to date with the ROM, also this flashable was Vodafone and I needed an original T-mobileish ROM. So I tried to update the ROM with LG Bridge which was a success. Then I knew I had to root it one more time because of batterystats. So I rooted it again. Deleted batterystats, discharge then full recharge without any intervention and of course while the phone was off. After this I kept experiencing a massive loss on battery life. Like while playing Pokémon GO the phone discharges 15-20% in 30 mins of gaming. I know that Pokémon GO eating up battery since it's release and maybe they still din't optimize it. But what it's wierd that I just charged my phone to 100% then I went to take a shower which lasted about 20 mins and when I got back I saw that the battery percentage dropped to 92%. In freakin 20 mins idle time. Is it possible that I did wrong something in the batterystat reseting? I did it many times before and I didn't have any issues after it. I also tried to calibrate the battery with the Advance Battery Calibrator app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.newagetools.batcalibra&hl=en_US) multiple times and I didn't have any luck. :/ Also tried to remove or freeze some applications which were running in the background and they were useless to me. Or maybe is it possible that the ROM i downloaded and installed from LG Bridge is a complete ****? Also FYI I have two batteries, one which came with the phone ofc and one which I bought a year ago within a charging kit. The phone itself is about 2 years old. Basically the original battery should be closing to it's ending but the other shouldn't, also I tried the calibration process while I was using the fresher battery. Also the current ROM version is 8.0.0 Oreo, v30c-216-30 if that helps anything. :S I also installed the MK2000 kernel because after rooting the phone the flashlight didn't work and the MK2000 fixes that. Though the battery life was bad before it too, so that can't be the problem, the fact of the root either because even the unrooted ROM had bad battery life.
Thank you for your further help guys!
