For some reason TWRP wont mount my microSD (64gb) card, I thought I would ask if anyone here had a solution before I went and did something stupid.
I searched around the forum and the only thing I was able to find was someone saying that it worked for them in 2.5.0.1 but not 2.5.0.2.

Fat32 had previously failed for my so I had formatted my card into extFat which also failed to mount, but I did what you said and re-formatted it into Fat32 using Easeus Partition and it still fails... Any other suggestions?
Twrp supports exfat and that's what I use. Its possible your card is failing and needs to be replaced. I just went through that as well. Cards have a warranty so you can get one for free. There was a bad batch produced earlier this year so sandisk knows about it.

I've never been able to mount my SD in recovery either, it didn't work on S3 too. Are you able to flash files from it?, and Android recognizes it? If so, the card is fine, it's just an issue with some phones, not being able to mount it in recovery to transfer files. Sorry if I misunderstood the original question and had you doing extra stuff, I thought you meant it doesn't see the card, and can't flash files.
I have this same problem although I believe its something to do with the recovery, as TWRP won't allow me to mount the MicroSD card either

this was happening on my last sd card, after this started happening, i couldnt access anything on the card. So ive now changed to a 2gb card. havnt made an sd ext yet. so is that why ?
happened to me as well, SD got corrupted, it can be read from a pc, but cannot change the contents thus cannot re-format, luckily i can copy it, then bought a new one, problem solved, phone is working fine again.

I think this is normal for sd card without ext partition.
have you try to un-mount and mount the sd-card?
can the sc card be read from recovery?

mounting it from cwm ? nope i havnt tried that.
Im not having any troubles at the moment with this new SD Card. I just wanted to try and get the old 8gb sd working. having 2gb isnt enough for all my music and apps.
Ive formatted the old sd card. but it still shows as having 6gb.. so 2 gb missing ? AND.. i can put it in my girlfriends phone, and load it up on the computer. put anything on it i want, but it wont read in ANY phone..
Use panasonic sd formater under win.

its basically a throw away sd card now, so ill give it a shot lol.
hoping i got the right program
** tried that... didnt work. it formatted the Sd Card. but still wont read in my phone.
Also tried to Mount the SD card from Cwm. but i get
Error mounting /sdcard!
not sure if this will help anyone.. but i partitioned the sd card ages ago, all was working fine... now, after formatting, my 8gb sd card is still just nearly 6gb. so 2 gb is missing.
connect the sd card to the computer via a card reader. delete all the partitions and then format it using the fat32 system. try to read it now. if it still doesn't work try to format it using the fat system. maybe this will work.

try to format it thru phone
Tried that a couple of time and it didn't work. After a couple of reboots it worked now. Thanks.
Still got a question though.
What are the correct settings for formatting the sd card from windows?
Is it necessary to partition it from CWM? What are the correct setting for this?
LE: Ok. I got myself deeper in trouble. I managed to format the sd card from CWM. I mounted the sd card and copied update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-p500-signed.zip over. I wiped the phone's memory and tried to install CM7 and got the following error: "E: Can't open /sdcard/update-cm-7.2.0-RC1-p500-signed.zip (bad)". I also tried with update-oxygen-2.3.2-LGP500-KANG-signed_v2.6.zip but doesn't work either.
I was thinking of trying to partition the sd card from CWM but i'm afraid i will make it unable to mount back again and this time i got no android to format it from.
Also it seems that formatting the sd card from cwm doesn't really work. The files are still there though it says that it completed.
LE2: I managed to mount sd card from cwm and copied over a cwm backup folder i had in my computer. Takes a while to copy it like it really does something. But after i try to restore or remount usb storage the files aren't there anymore.
can you tell me why do you want to patition your sd card? do you want to create second partition (sd-ext) or what?

Just format your SDCARD from SETTINGS - STORAGE, after that proceed with the instalation of CM7 or whatever you want. Don't partition your SDCARD if you don't know how to do that and if you don't need partitioned SDCARD. It is not necessary to do that if you don't use an APPS2SD app, so don't waste your time with that.
I've been having no trouble with flashing roms from my external sd card. I'm looking to completely wipe my phone (internal and external sd cards) to get a fresh install. I formatted my external sd card (via the phone). I then connected it to my PC, copied over my rom and a wipe tool no problem. My phone reads the SD card fine when it's booted up, can see the rom i've copied over.
When I re-boot into recovery mode with CWM-based Recovery (v6.0.1.4 - siyah), it says "E:can't mount/external_sd/" when I try to find my rom to flash.
I'm wondering if the problem is the siyah thing, it's not the kernal i'm using, if was installed on my phone with a rom I no longer use. That said, it wasn't an issue before I formatted my external SD card.
I've just updated CWM to ClockworkMod Touch 6.0.3.2 which has got rid of the Siyah version. I've also formatted the SD card again as i've read that formatting via the phone changes the file format to something cwm doesn't like. I did it via PC, it's formatted at exfat. Still made no difference, CWM won't read it.
Might be a silly question but did you go into "mounts and storage" I. Cwm and check the external sd card is mounted?

I have tried that. It didn't work, it would give the same error. I have managed to get it to be read in CWM, I downloaded the ROM manager tool, used that to put a partition on the SD card. Then I was able to format the card via CWM. I've not had a chance to put my ROM back on the SD card and retry. One thing is, when I booted up the phone after formatting the card in CWM, the phone shows it as blank or has an unsupported file system, saying it needs to be formatted. I wonder why there is a conflict?
I needed to format the sd card on my pc, it needed to be fat32. All sorted now

If you really want exFAT, try Philz recovery linked in my signature. It is CWM but with loads of great extra features (including exFAT support).
I actually thought that exFAT support meant it can format in exFAT. I find it odd that exFAT is the native format that Samsung uses but CWM doesn't support it.
Personally I use FAT32 myself as my main computer is Linux and exFAT is too microsofty for it to recognise.
I've installed that and re-formatted my SD card into whatever Samsung uses (think it's exfat) as fat32 was making windows explorer slow and crash prone
sup guys am having a problem with my samsung galaxy s3,via E:can't something related to mount format.............i mount for mated ,anyone who know how i can fix it?
Ok so I just got this phone today and I was fortunately on 10b right out of the box. I immediately rooted and bumped and now I want to install some roms. But it seems that every time I try to access my SD card (64gb) from twrp It just sits there and doesn't mount it. I need to flash roms! Lol
Let me know if I am doing something wrong.
Figured out that this version of twrp isn't liking exfat SD cards.... Is it possible to flash another recovery?

No.
Just get another card or USB OTG adapter with a USB drive.
I use a second card when I want to use TWRP.
Bummer. I was hoping someone would get us a note recent version of TWRP going with a fix for the SD card issue.

On my 64gb card, I backed it up then used twrp's built-in function to change to fat. Others have used an external pc-based program to change to fat, http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

You can format the SD card in twrp? Or just change what twrp recognizes?
Change the format. Go into Wipe-Advanced, there is an option to change the format of external sd.
Make sure to back anything on it up first, and that you select the external sd.
64GB SD is not longer Working
Suddenly I have a big problem with my 64GB SD.
Can no longer access it.
I tried it on Android and Win 10 but without success.
Even reformatting is neither Android nor under Win10 (Windows format SD format, Paragon and Minitool Patition Wizard)
Does anyone have an idea ??
Regards Klaus

Are you trying to access it while it is being attached to the phone or are you using an adapter to read the sd card on your computer. It could be corrupted or damaged.

So lets elaborate what's happening, the sd card can be detected, but it can no longer be accessed right? It is in read-only mode right? By any chance was it encrypted by your phone or did you manipulate any permissions that caused your sd card not to work? Have you tried scanning for drive errors?
Thank for your quick answer.

If you cannot achive to access after formatting from Windows by using Mini Partition Tool, I think your sd card is dead by hardware not software. Sory :crying:
So now I have bought a new SD and from the old one I can still use 28GB.
Many thanks for your help.

I am still trieing to fix the SD Card.
I can see the SD Card and the Folders in TWRP Recover Menu.
And some of the subfolder are broken like Dir name like !?$ยง...
When I try to delete the Direktories or to format the whole SD Card i always the same Error message:
***
E:Unknown mtp message type 1
E: rm -rf %sdcard" process end with write error =1
***
It is the second time that my SD Card makes trouble (the first time SANDisk changed the card)
so I try to find out what is wrong and how can I fixed it.

Corrupt Micro SD format with ADB ??
Does anyone knows how can I format the micro SD with ADB ??
Came across the following page and try now to format my ext.SD but so far without success.

Maybe I can so solve my problem.
Above all, if something happened to me again - it is already the second time.
