[Q] Disable Samsung "Features" - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm trying to find a way to disable the safety volume message that pops up when you raise the volume past 50% when listening with headphones. Also, is there a way to disable Samsung's lock screen widget feature? I want Dash Clock as my widget, but I would also like a pin for security. Is there a ROM that fixes these problems?

Pretty much any ROM thats out there. AOKP ROMS normally have a toggle that disables it, but you can also install the Nottach Xposed Framework on a ROM you like to use and disable the volume warning popup and possibly solve the rest of your issues as well.

Thanks for the info. However, upon a quick search it looks like it's only available for AT&T variants. I have a Verizon Galaxy S4 with CleanROM 1.6 installed.

It works perfectly fine on my T-Mobile ROMS. Its worth a shot, i believe theres a good chance it probably works on yours too.

The module was created for the AT&T version, but can be used on the Verizon S4 as well.

Why no buttons on pulldown screen?

I used to have a Galaxy S on t-mobile and loved it. Recently picked up the razr and the one thing that is really annoying is that the notification bar "swipe down menu" from the top of the screen has no buttons to turn gps on/off, etc.
Is there any way to get these buttons on here?
No idea why in the hell they would omit that feature....

It's actually a TouchWiz (Samsung's Android skin) feature that Cyanogenmod incorporated. Bottom line: not stock Android, and not on Motorola's skin.
cm? Cyanogyn mod?
Now that i think of it i did have a custom rom flashed on there but i know it wasnt cyanogyn, it was one of the stock ones with voodoo on it so it would run faster.

Galaxy S has the options in the pulldown by default; most ROMs will incorporate it, though, since it's a nice feature. It's not something in stock Android, though.
Best thing for now is the power control widget till our phones can get bootloader unlocked and development for roms can begin. I too had that previous. I just use thd widget for now
Available in the Market as always for example via Widgetsoid.
How many times will I have to say that for people to understan, unbelievable.

Widgetsoid seems like a great app with a lot of potential and nice customization features, but on the Razr you can't toggle directly from the notification bar with it. Instead clicking on the toggle icon will popup another window to toggle the setting on or off. That and I haven't been able to change the colors of the toggles in the dropdown so that it's readable.
Notification toggle is the closest I've found. Each toggle takes up a line but you can actually turn the item on or off straight from the dropdown.

I've Rooted my HTC One - Now what?

I've successfully unlocked my bootloader, flashed recovery and rooted my One using Superuser. It was pretty difficult and confusing to be honest. I got Titanium Back-up and froze all those stupid bloatware apps.
Now what can I do? I see there are two pretty good roms over here in the forums, but I'm not sure if I should grab one of those or wait for other better ones? Is there a "best" rom? Anything else I can do while waiting?

My advice? Take some time and just enjoy the phone. Its too soon for there to be
much going on in terms of ROMs and MODs. But they will come...
I generally get rid of the stock ROM on a new phone as soon as possible...but I have been
impressed with Sense 5 so far...gonna rock it for a while I think.
Check out the TrickDroid rom in the international HTC One forum. I've got that on my AT&T One, and it's amazing.

One app I consider a must have for rooted devices is adblock plus. Get it and enjoy a faster, cleaner, and less data intensive internet experience. Just be aware that it's no longer part of the play store, and you'll have to sideload it.

I've rooted devices before, but never installed a custom rom. Might be fun to give it a try.
However, just to make sure I won't do anything wrong...I replaced my recovery with TWRP when I first rooted.
I'm thinking I add the .zip rom to my root directory, make a backup with TWRP, backup my apps with titanium backup, then just flash the rom and restore my apps? Is it that simple?
Also, should I wipe the dalvik in addition to the regular data?

Actually the list of improvements and added features in TrickDroid (and several other 1.29 based International ROMs) compared to the stock ROM is quite large, which very easily justifies the reason for bootloader unlocking/rooting your phone. Some of these improvements/mods are available over here in the AT&T dev section, and some are only available in International based ROMs (for now anyway)
Newer firmware than the AT&T base (1.29 compared to 1.26)
Supposedly the camera software in 1.29 is considerably better with things like improved processing for pictures; I haven't verified this for myself
That stupid permanent power saving toggle in the notification pulldown menu has been removed (replaced by a much nicer and smaller status bar toggle button)
The only-useful-maybe-one-time-but-is-always-there IME icon that pops up in the task bar (when the keyboard is being used) has been removed
For people that use Sense as their launcher, there are options to change the icon grid in the drawer to 4x5 / 5x6 instead of the screen wasting 3x4 default
There are very nice looking scrollable color toggle buttons in the pulldown menu for the normal things like wifi, bluetooth, GPS, flashlight, switching between silent mode & normal mode, etc. The toggles can be long-pressed to go directly into the options related to the function of that toggle
The stock messaging app has more options (custom background, colors for the conversation bubbles)
HTC has lowered the overall "boomsound" volume in 1.29 a bit, presumably to correct the popping sounds that people have experienced on earlier firmware builds including the AT&T 1.26 build. In my opinion, even with this lower volume, the phone is plenty loud and the speakers are still louder than my Galaxy S3. There are still ways to increase your volume back up again if you really need it (for example, the faux123 kernel has "faux sound" that can pump up the volume, among other audio tweaks)
There is a brightness mod available to lower the really high default automatic brightness settings a bit, to increase battery life
There is a mod available to temporarily turn on the display when an SMS message is received if the phone's display is off
There is a mod available to wake up the phone with the volume buttons (in addition to the power button of course)
There is a no-pin Exchange mod available for the stock email client that overrides the need for a pin # when connected to a corporate Exchange email system that requires phone security
There is a stock-based kernel available as a choice during the installation that maps the HTC logo as a menu key. Actually I think it really just maps a touch point on the display immediately above the HTC logo, but it is very close to the logo and actually works.
There is a mod available to remove the stupid 3-dot button in apps that still use a menu key. Obviously you would only want to use this mod when you've got something mapped as a menu button (either the back key long-press option or the HTC logo mapping mentioned previously)

Thanks for you post. My HTC One is on its way, and this is the ROM I plan to flash. Can you please elaborate on this last part?
Are you saying that there is a place on the settings menu to select a custom mapping for the menu button? and THEN you flash the mod? Doesn't that sound backwards? Wouldn't one flash the mod which would give you the option of a custom menu button mapping somewhere in the settings menu?
just be patience
it's take times to build a better rom for new device.maybe 3-4month.we can get perfect rom

I heard there's a mod to use the logo as a button. I would turn that into a MENU button.

[MOD]AOSP enabled navbar - AOSP ROMS and GE only

To be clear, these will only work for AOSP ROMs and the GoogleEdition ROM.
Threw these together for myself. Love having the navbar but it is a pain to add every nightly I flash. So I threw this together. I made two versions. One simply adds the navbar and disables the capacitive menu and back buttons (with them active the navbar becomes nearly impossible to use) and triggers the navbar. Fear not, this mod triggers the in app menu overflow access and for that matter you could then create a menu on the navbar. I couldn't automate disabling the backlight so that will still need to be disabled via settings>advanced>sensors. I also made a version that changes the device DPI from 480 to 360 (my preferred DPI).
Download - AOSP_navbar_enabled.v3.zip
Base version above now allows OTA survival. Will reapply itself after each nightly.
Download - AOSP_navbar_enable_360dpi.zip
Download - AOSP_remove_NAVBAR.v3.zip
Here is the method to inject changed into the build.prop that I used (found here)
On the GoogleEdition ROM it does not support disabling the capacitive button backlights natively so the app from the following thread is needed
[APP] Google Edition ROMs - Disable Button Lights

Of course you are welcome to your opinion!! And in part I agree. That is why I run at 360dpi, that way it has less of an impact on the display. I know it is not for everyone, but choice is the spice of life.

Thanks for this. Is it possible to only activate the in app menu overflow without adding the nav bar? It's so much more intuitive to have that, rather than guessing whether or not the menu button will do anything within each app (the whole reason google got rid of the menu button in the first place).
I wish I knew how!! To be frank, when you enable the navbar and disable the capacitive buttons it activates the menu overflow within apps all by itself. Must be part of the navbar framework. But let me look into it. I MIGHT have an idea but it would be ROM specific, not a general mod like this. What ROM are you running or would like such a feature for?

I will try for the GE port, it should be an easy mod. These don't work on stock touchwiz as it doesn't have the needed framework for the navbar. For some reason Samsung gutted the navbar from their source

[Q] Lock Screen Widgets 4.3?

I have a Verizon Note 2 with the 4.3 Update.. How can we apply widgets on the lock screen is that not built into it on this update?? I saw some other devices have it..

I had to go to settings -> lockscreen -> then check on allow multiple widgets. Then go to the lock screen and swipe to another direction and there should be a plus sign. Click that and you can add your widget. The functionality is built in and Xposed isn't required unless you want something like the Always Maximize Widgets module to keep the lockscreen widgets always expanded.

Mines not working at all.
It's a step in the right direction, but I think they should give you the option to manually pick the color for individual apps. Because I use Light Flow and I would much prefer if the edge lighting matched the same color as my notification LED.
Only one app was updated that was Edge Screen on my device. I have a G955U, and I ripped the apk and uploaded it. I haven't checked, but between devices the libraries could have been slightly different and the update redirects to multiple unreferenced versions for different devices.
So, sorry but I can only vouch this working on my end for the Galaxy S8+. I will update my download to reflect this statement.
Can anyone tell me how to actually get the edge lighting to work?! I have it set it on for EVERY APP, yet, I have never actually witnessed it work!
After recent update it still works for me only in stock samsung messenger
and calendar apps. Nothing else, same as before.
If it works - it works in all possible combinations (face up/down, screen on/off).
