You should downgrade kernel to. 54 root and after that flash. 100 kernel. You have to flash the kernel.sin file, not the whole Rom mate. Open the ftf file with winrar and extract kernel.sin

Also did you try this one?

Here's the Rooting Process for you.
This Rooting guide applies to all FW versions above B.1.10.
1) Open Flashtool.
2) Click the Flash icon.
3) Select Flash Mode. (Make sure USB Debugging is ON in your Mobile Settings before connecting to PC)
4) Select & Flash the B.1.10 kernel. Then Reboot.
5) Select the Un-Lock icon and choose your preferred SU app & proceed.
6) Follow the on-screen instructions.
7) Now you have rooted your device.
8) Flash B.1.100 kernel through Flash Mode (using B.1.100 FTF) and let the device reboot. [Press Flash Mode > Select B.1.100 FW > Tick all the option except "KERNEL" under the Exclude Category > Flash]
Downloads
B.1.10 Kernel - Download Here

You can download this tool.
Extract it.
Make sure you're on USB debugging. Menu>Settings>Developer Options>USB debugging
Connect your phone to your PC
Double-click on RunMe.bat
Choose option 3 (Old)
Then the rest should be automated.
I successfully rooted my Xperia U on stock ICS (6.1.1.B.1.100), so I can guarantee this will work.

How much time?

[ROOT] Firmware 6.1.1.B.1.54

DON'T USE ON XPERIA U, XPERIA P AND OTHER XPERIAS. KERNEL FILES PROVIDED ARE ONLY FOR XPERIA SOLA!!!
This is the same method used by naruto20007 in [Root - Locked Bootloader] Xperia P 6.1.1.B.1.54 so thanks him, i've only packed the two kernel ftf files for sola.
This works with LOCKED and UNLOCKED bootloader
I assume that you are running 6.1.1.B.1.54 firmware
You need:
1. Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry LINK
2. 6.1.1.B.1.10 and 6.1.1.B.1.54 stock kernel ftf files LINK
3. Flashtool LINK
INSTRUCTION
1. Flash MT27i_6.1.1.B.1.10_KERNEL.ftf with Flashtool and reboot
2. Root using Bin4ry's method
3. Flash MT27_6.1.1.B.1.54_KERNEL.ftf with Flashtool and reboot
After flashing the 6.1.1.B.1.10 kernel your icons can turn black, don't worry and go on.
If you have unlocked bootloader you can also root by flashing TheBrainsKernel

Thanks to naruto20007 & neoxx3m for kernel files.
Thanks to Bin4ry for Rooting tool
Thanks man i rooted my device with ease by ur steps
...but the steps you detailed are *exactly* downgrading the kernel, rooting that, and then flashing the new kernel back—pretty much the very steps everyone would have done since the .54 update. How is this 'Without Downgrade'?

You are a savior...I tried different method as shared on xda forums and still failed to root my Xperia....and now with the help of your post I finally rooted my Xperia P...thanks a lot.
Could you tell me why we had to flash our kernel first to ensure a perfect root....as to the methods mentioned on different threads they say to root the phone first and later flash the ROM or kernel??

Xperia U unable to be rooted!

I am on 6.1.1.C.1.0 OCT ( not rootable)
I try to flash the 4.0.4nu kernel (only kernel.sin and loader.sin)
when it flashes and i open my phone the screen doesn't work! it shows some things but i can't clearly understand what i'm doing.
After that i have to flash again the 6.1.1.C.1.0 kernel (the non rootable) and my phone is useable again.
In 2 words i can't root my phone because the 4.0.4nu kernel doesn't work with my phone...any suggestions?
Same happened wid me when I was on. 54 fw
I dun knw how I was able to root it
Probably I used a custom kernel wid autoroot (i used all available in our forum)
None worked
Bt when I flashed back original kernel I saw I was rooted....
Do u have unlocked bootloader?

.54 kernel is not rootable, thats why you have to flash .10 kernel on .54 firmware, then root and flash .54 kernel back.
You can try this metod on .c.1.0, youcan always use stock tft to recovery...
Try flash C.1.0 firmware, then flash .10 kernel only, root it and then try to flash c.1.0 kernel back.
And dont forget to prepare the C.1.0 in advance from this thread
