My phone (p769) was sent to LG for repair, before it was sent I had Jelly Bean, when I got it back it is running Ice Cream Sandwich. Is there anyway to still update it.... Thanks!

If you just want to upgrade to JB and you don't want to mess up with offline flash steps, just use LG PC suite to upgrade your phone firmware.
After that if you want your phone rooted, it's easy. Please look at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2338816

Even if they already paused the OTA? And does the PC Suite even recognize the p769.... When I tried it a very long time ago my phone never showed up... :/
Sent from my LG-P769 using XDA Premium HD app
the only way to upgrade now is to root your phone and flash jb kdz through cwm. The upgrade to jb has been paused so you will not be able to do the P C suite.

I don't know about t-mobile stop OTA update. If they do so there's some problems in their latest update.
If your PC don't recognize you phone please check that you install LG usb driver properly. Please take a look at http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-P769#software

Nothing can root your device yet. Only way was rooting from HC 3.2.1. You will have to wait like many of us.

I don't know wether this is a stupid question. Dunno much about rooting.thinking about rooting. But am anxiously awaiting the official jb update. Will I be able to update to this if I'm rooted? I mean if ota or via kies? Or rooting will prevent this? Pls shed some light!!!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
AFAIK you'll be able to install the update without any problems, but you'll need to re-root after installing it.
So I don't have to unroot or anything and can just simply update without doing anything u mean?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
It is easy to do, took me under 5 mins today, don't be afraid to root
If it gives you any grief with OTA update you can un-root without leaving any signs of doing it there is some good guides online just google it. This forum won't let me post links here but try the galaxys3root website, their guides are very good.
I'm sorry, but I dint get u. U meant easy to root or easy to update?

As previously said, if you are rooted you can still update and use the OTA for it whereas after updating you will loose root and have to re-root.
To make it even more simple you can use MobileOdin which will root automatically during the update process.
And one more question is about the flash counter on s3. Does rooting start a count or only when u flash a Rom it happens?

rooting, if I understood well, does not increase the counter (?). whereas when you are rooted you can easily reset the counter with Triangle Away app, its just one click.

MAN! JB starts with LS as stated above. Is it too difficult for you to understand?
He meant that all 4.0.4 ROM are named like that: I9100XWLP* while 4.1.2 ROMS should be named I9100XXLS*

Guys, relax
Samsung played an evil game on me yesterday lol I got an update message so first I tried to do it on the phone. That didn't work and it told me to connect to Kies. Kies needed an update...
So I did the update and waited....
Slow internet made me wait.
After Kies update I connected my phone and it told me there is an update. Finally!!
So, I waited 3 hours, due to my slow internet but I thought, hey, huge update, that will be JellyBean!!!
After 3 hours waiting, it started the update, I got really excited!!
Now, long story but.. I ended with..LQ2 firmware 4.0.4 lol seriously, that was a hard piece of cake for me
So, the waiting continues..

We still got the leak. And with some own modifications or superb Roms like Chameleon ( which I love) it's a good daily driver.

Hi,
So I am wondering if it is possible to root the international S3 without a computer. I am running Swedish stock 4.1.1.
I am not new to android but I am new to xda. The reason I am asking is because I am currently backpacking in Australia and I need to root so I can get the latest update + fix a bunch problems.
With me I have a Asus transformer Eeepad if it helps at all wich I doubt.
Thanks in advance all you helpfull xda members.
Regards Reclused
If you have another device there is an app that can root from another phone... I'll look for it and post the link
Strange.. I have it installed but not showing anywhere for a link. Search root transmission here in the forums. You'll find it

How would you do that, rooting one device with another rooted device and not use Odin/Mobile Odin? Can`t think of a way right now.

Imo impossible, you always need Odin to install SU and/or CWM. If you can run that from a tablet it is oke.
-EDIT- Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2014121, but not for the international S3 atm, not supported yet.
Thanks a lot, I hope they figure it out soon for the international one.
The thing is that I want the latest update on my s3 but I can't get it OTA because it is "changed" status. So I figured I would root it and flash the latest stock version via mobile Odin. But can I root the TF101 without a computer and then use the root transmission perhaps? It has the latest version 9.2.1.27 ICS.
