Just use a miniUSB cable and plug it into your computer. Any USB wall charger should work. I've used iPhone USB chragers with a miniUSB cable, Nikon camera chargers, as well as a Motorola one. You just need to plug it into any USB port either on a wall or on your computer. Leave the device off while it charges overnight.
Problem with charged
I use both ways but no result , phone indicates to charged but battery not charging.Charger is original and consists of two parts: the charger and mini usb cable .When i run it sometimes on the displays show this message : The charging current is not enough for device power consumption. Please shut down unused applications , or switch to AC adapter. And I do not use any applications. I tried to load phone in the off position , indicates that the charger is ON but the battery is not charging .Please help if someone has the same problem

Try it with a different miniUSB cable. If you don't have one handy, miniUSB cables go for pennies on Amazon or eBay. You can find them in retail stores for about 10 dollars or so as well. If the cable isn't the problem, then it is either a problem with the charge port on the device, or the battery. It's far cheaper to trouble shoot the cable, so let's just start with that.
Sound like the charger is insufficient power, even though it says 1A. Try charging from a computer USB port and see if it charges. HTC don't list TP2 as suitable for this charger.
I am also facing same problem. LED shows charging but phone does not charge. And when I insert charger "USB TO PC" page shows up, Like I have connected the phone to PC.
Please Help...
I just had an issue charging which turned out to be an easy fix.
The led would come on and the icon would show charging but it wasn't increasing the battery %. Then I would get a message about the power not being enough and to plug it into a charger. I tried several chargers and was getting the same thing happening. I blew a few puffs into the charging port which looked clean and it was still happening. I wiggled the cable/plug in the port and occassionally the charging light would go on and off. The charging led even started to go on and off with the phone just sitting still on my table. I feared that my charging port had gone bad so I ordered 2 spare batteries and battery charger from ebay for $10 (works well and battery life good).
While waiting for the ebay purchase to arrive I did some reading up and saw that pins could be bent etc. In my fustration I used a pair of tweezers to gently scrape the charging port pins/contacts (in a straight direction). Then I used an old toothbrush and firmly brushed out the usb port - a whole bunch of lint and stuff come out of the port even though it had previously looked clean.
I plugged in my charger and bingo! My charging issue was gone.

That was the biggest problem with MiniUSB was the width and height of those ports. It's a haven for stray dust and dirt. They need to be brushed out every so often, especially when you just drop it in you pocket.
hi buy and it schould work
buy a new charging cable

I was facing the same charging problem and was looking for a solution. And i found this forum and read it and did the same thing and my problem is fix.. I can charge my mobile now. Thanks a lot for the great help.

All of these dumb charges, ie bricks in the wall, use the unused USB pins to communicate how much power they can provide. There are some resistors they put on the D-/D+ to say this is a 700ma charger or whatever. Trouble is that there are limited standards on these resistors so it's more than possible that a phone will charge but not enter high current charging when attached to a new brick in the wall. The cables however are more universal.
Has anyone else had this problem? I plug my Photon into a USB power adapter plugged into my car's cigarette lighter and the phone displays the message that the device is charging but the percent of charge continues to decline. I have changed USB adapters and USB cables but it still happens. If I use an AC adapter and the same USB cable the phone charges correctly.
Is it a software or hardware problem? I was unlocked and rooted using several of the current custom ROMs and the charging process in the car worked then. When I re-locked and went back to stock and re-rooted then this happened.
i am having the same issue as of yesterday. Did you ever find out what the issue was?
im guessing that the car was off and that it was a foreign car...
Numerous issue could actually cause the same symptoms, Apps/games in the background... failing alternator, failing cigarette lighter, failing car adapter...
car not running while its charging could also cause this issue depending on charge level of the battery and the volts of the battery...
What you'll need to do is eliminate the possibilities..
Try with the car on and the phone on...
try with the car on and the phone off...
try with a different adapter for the car...
try with a different usb cord...
try with a magnum 44 aimed at it...
Try with a different Car is also another good option.
Ditto.
I am having the same problem.....worked fine before I unlocked/rooted. Anyone else have a suggestion?
I have the same issue with the incar charger and using a computers usb port to charge my phone..(doesnt charge when under load ..ie-dowloading something)...i think that it is the charger being underpowered..example..
Stock a/c charger puts out 850mA
Most computer usb and standard car usb chargers only put out around 500mA
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Mine charges very slowly in the car. The other day, I plugged in at 32%. Drove 30 minutes to get home, and it had only reached 37%. Plugged in at home, and within 10 minutes had well over 50%, even though I was actively using it then.
This is on stock rooted, btw.
The stock drivers must use a very conservative power draw when plugged into a relatively low-output power source. By contrast, the power draw from a high-output AC adapter must be quite aggressive, because it charges more quickly than other phones I've used when plugged into AC.
It did turn out to be caused by the car charger being underpowered. I went to BestBuy and bought a "high capacity" charger and all is good!

Which specific car charger did you get? I'm having the same problem too!
The Photon needs at least 850mA charger to get charge currently. Otherwise it charge slowly or not charge at all.
Can anyone post a link to a specific charger that is working great for you and charging fast while in the car?
has any one who got charger working ? can anyone pls post the link to product
thanks in advance

there have been other threads about this. usually its the charger overheating and putting it in a ziplock in the freezer, resets it.
Mine did that too, just leave the charger and everything unplugged from the wall for a day. That fixed mine.

The other issue I've seen is poor contact in the USB socket on the wall adapter. I had to unplug the usb cable from the wall adapter. Then, look at the usb socket on the power adapter. The gold pins are the usb contacts. Directly opposite of them, there should be two silver prongs. I had to use a small flat blade screwdriver to pry both of them out a little further to ensure they did their job of firmly pushing the usb cable against the socket's usb contacts. Once I did, my TF201 was able to get charge from it, again.
If you decide to replace the wall charger, I believe Fry's and Office Depot stock the asus charger.
Same thing for me.. PC recognizes it as a media device, but will not charge with wall charger. Wall charger works with my HTC Phone, so it works.
I don't think it has anything to do with the latest update, since the Dock wont charge either, and there's no OS in that, right?
Just experienced this today. I have had it unplugged for about 10 hours now, we'll see if it charges.
I had the same issue few days after I got my prime. I connected my sgs to the charger and it worked. Then connected the prime and voila-works.

C1. There are some good suggestions here I need to try.
Wrap it in a towel and bang it against a table. That will fix it usually. Then get some pc heatsinks and some arctic silver adhesive and you can attach them to the charger to keep it from happening again.
The plug has two options, 5V (standard for USB?) and 15V. I used the plug on my old HTC phone (Ozone) and then plugged it back into my Prime and it worked. Thanks for the great tips guys.
Since the charger works in two modes, I wonder if some charges became confused and started dishing out 5V when they should be dishing out 15V. Thoughts?

Hi, I got the same problem. The charger indeed seems to be stuck in the 5V mode, since, when plugged in the tablet does get charged, even though it is not indicated, but very slowly. It is charging as if it is plugged in to a pc.
I tried plugging it into (old) phones, but I still can't seem to get it to switch back to the 15V mode.
The freezer didn't help either.
Any other suggestions?
I waited about 4-5 hours before plugging into my old phone. My other suggestion is to allow the phone to charge for a short bit (30 minutes) unplug and wait, then plug into your Prime.
I have a feeling that its a transistor toggle that isn't flipping at the correct voltage.
I've had the same problem yesterday. In my case the problem was with the charge socket on the keyboard itself. Some copper pins were deformed and that stopped the device charging. I took a magnifying glass(also for checking if any of the copper pins are bend) and a small tool to bend them back. After this it charged again. Hope this helps.
My charger suddenly stopped working from today. The Prime is detecting the connection as the screen turns ON but it is not charging. I charged my sensation using the same adapter and USB cable and it is working fine. Why can I not charge Prime via PC like phone? Is it possible? I am in India and not sure if the power adapter is easily available as Prime is not yet launched in India.
Kindly suggest.
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
I've started to have this problem today, plug it in and it does come up with the charge icon but it doesn't charge - or doesn't seem to.
However I left it connected last night from midnight until 8am this morning and it went from 13% to 17% so it is charging VERY VERY slowly although the unit doesn't actual seem to think it is.
I have it plugged in to my phone right now and its working perfectly, I borrowed the charger to my g/f last night to charge her iphone and i'm thinking this might have done something to flip the voltage as since then it isn't working.
Anyone have any ideas on this??

But if the charger works fine when charging a phone it cant be the connection at fault..
It does seem to me that the power it is outputting has dropped especially the I managed to gain 5% over the course of a night where WIFI was off and screen was off even though the charge icon doesn't come up.
Is there a way of forcing the charger back in to 12v mode??
damnit... I had the same problems a few days ago and I thought it was in the cable instead of the charger... not realising the charger has to put out 15v instead of 5v.
Does this mean the Transformer won't charge with for example, my HTC charger?
I totally messed up my cable, because I thought it was broken... when I opened up the USB plug, I noticed the yellow wire was not connected anymore, but this didn't solve anything. Eventually I messed up the cable that bad, that I've ordered a new one from ebay... but when I read this... I should have just banged the charger a few times... shait.

Has anyone actually ever managed to fix this problem? I've just contacted ASUS about it to see what they say - hopefully they'll ship me out a new charger plug or something, what a useless charger!!
Is there a cradle that will work with my defender case? If found this one, but not to sure of the credibility, so if anyone know other cradles that would work please let me know. I really would love one to work with the case.

Looks like it would work, the only issue I see is it's using a USB 2.0 connector and won't charge your phone as fast as USB 3.0. If it's just sitting on your night stand while you sleep, maybe this is just fine as you don't need it to charge quickly (USB 2.0 should charge it up full by the time you wake up the next morning).
I wish there was something like this but in USB 3.0. I might still get this because for what it is and what I said above, it'll work very well. The idea of setting my phone on a mat for wireless charging isn't that appealing because a cradle sits it upright where I can see it when it rings or gets a message.

Usb 3.0 will only give you extra charge current if you're drawing of a usb 3.0 port on your pc or laptop. Usb 2.0 will give only 500ma while you can get 900 off a usb 3.0 port. The biggest wall charger is only 2.1 amps and the phone will draw up to that much regardless of weather you use a usb 2.0 or 3.0 cable. It is the capacity of the charger that counts, not the cable standard. Since that cradle says it cranks 2 amps it will charge just as quickly as the Samsung charger that came with your phone.
You can confirm this yourself using any of a number of play store apps which measure charging current.

I was using the power bot qi charger for months and then one day it stopped connecting and didn't charge wirelessly anymore. Thought it was the charger so i bought the choe qi charger. It still doesn't connect. Could it be the phone?
I should also mention that I was able to get the power bot to connect when I squeezed up against the back of the phone but once I let go it would disconnect, but now that doesn't even work.
Everthing else on the phone work fine and I even did a full restore. Not sure what else to do. Anyone else have this issue or have suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Have you checked your cable? Because I have a ChloeStadium or whatever qi wireless charger and lately when I charge my phone, it flickers charging. I don't know what it is but I rely on a turbo charger with high amps (2.4 ma at most) to fast charge my phone.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've tried every cable I could find with no luck. My thought now is that maybe the qi hardware in the phone has gone bad. I don't know what else to think it could be. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
I have the same issue with my Xperia Z3v. I tried several Qi chargers (including one at Verizon store) with no luck. I think that the Qi receiver in the phone has some problem. Any suggestions please?

Try the cable first to see if the cable went bad like I mentioned above. It's strange the cables are bad for me.

I've tried multiple cables and chargers with no luck. My only thought is the Qi hardware is bad.
I have the same problem. Wireless charging just stopped working. It might be when I rooted and flashed the phone.
