NO.
To flash any custom kernel you must unlock bootloader first.
Updated the kernel:
[09.07.2013] v2
Some minor changes:
- without overclock
- disabled dynamic file sync as it causes display flickering when locking
nice, noticed screen flickering too when locking, after 2 days i didnt find any bugs or problems
can you add fiops scheduler and extra governors like intellidemand and Wheatley ?

Hi i flashed ur Kernel over Doom's One. One Question. Can i need to flash the Module.zip separately ? For a better wifi Connection ?
Edit:
That Module.zip not seems to be a flashable one... Whats the use of it. ? Pls explain. I am asking because i am not find any description about it in OP... I really need that after flashing SP kernel ?
Thanks in advance

Yes, it's not flashable .zip. You don't need to install them. The kernel works with stock ones OK. There are only two modules that can be needed: cifs.ko and ntfs.ko.
The free ram never low than 200M. The minimum RAM is too big. Can you redistribute RAM? For example the minimum RAM to 50M. I want to play the Vegas but SP always kill the game process because RAM not enough. Sorry for my poor English.

Yes. That is a problem.
On the other hand, is there any way to install only a voltage module instead the whole kernel? I've got no unlockable bootloader i fear.

In order to check I deodexed my rom via CWM and install Xperia Honami Home & Widgets via CWM. Have installed them from external sd card and everything is OK.
Maybe updater-script in your flashable .zip is wrong?
Been using this kernel now for a 6 days and everything is fine but the music skips! i've tried several players and this happens!

I stayed with smartass2 for a while now on MIUI and Wildmonks Kernel. This kernel lacks that smartass2 govenor, so i am using the tweaked ondemand one. I must say it is smoother and i didn't have any issues so far. Battery drain is ABOUT the same - cannot really give any definite opinions cuz i used it for only hours now.
But i'll report back. Try the ondemand one - its good so far.
How install it? Should i put the zip on the SD card and install it in the bootloader?
Add SmartAssV2 governor please.

This seems to break my wifi. After flashing, everything seems okay but wifi just says 'error' when I try to turn it on. Anyone else have this?

Come to think about it, ever since I flashed one of his previous builds, every time I try to flash a diff kernel I get this problem. Think I had this problem with one of IR's kernels...

First of all,

Ok then, now that u've read the disclaimer we can continue with me and this kernel.
Frankly i'm no dev, just know a little bit of linux thus i know howto compile kernel, and i like tinkering with kernel to include what i like.
by that i'm learning as i go, so go easy on me please
About the kernel name, MESA stands for Man-Eating Seals of Antiquity, codename for kernel 2.6.32.

Roughly features of this kernel include:
- base on Sony's official 4.1.B.0.587 kernel source, so i build this from ground up. patched to upstream 2.6.32.60. ics kernel should work with stock/custom rom based on stock ics 4.1.B.0.431 or 4.1.B.0.587, and jb kernel should work with source based jb rom eg cm10, aokp and pa. personally i've tested this with expeacer's exmiuiv4, lasan's miui, stock ics, fxp's cm10 and aokp jb.
- updated to upstream linux 2.6.32.61.
- hybrid kernel, support stock/stock based, cm9/cm9 based, cm10/cm10 based rom.
- patched with Con Kolivas's patchset that includes bfs task scheduler v0.404, so this is a bfs kernel. stock kernel and all of custom kernel here so far uses cfs cpu scheduler. read about bfs cpu scheduler here.
- oc upto 1.8ghz and using 100mhz steps. default boot only use 1ghz.
- uv sysfs interface to modify voltage. i also decrease voltage abit. for anyone who wish to use stock voltage, heres stock voltage table
- cpu governors includes default stock ondemand, interactive, powersave, perfomance and userspace, i've added ondemandx, intellidemand, smartassV2, smoothass, interactivex, brazilianwax, scary, lulzactive, lagfree, smartass, minmax and savagedzen. default booting governor is interactive, its been updated/backported from kernel 3.x. read about cpu governors here.
- disk io scheduler includes deadline, sio, cfq, noop, anticipatory, zen, bfq and vr. default booting disk io scheduler is sio. read about io schedulers here.
- dual recovery, cwm and twrp. access cwm by pressing volume down button and twrp by pressing power button. also can swap those keycode by adding "swap.recovery.keycode=true" to build.prop. phone will vibrate slightly before entering both recovery as indicator. also included autoroot which wont give problem with miui rom, init.d startup script and unsecure ramdisk for adb root access. v4.7 got twrp 2.4.3.0 and cwm 6.0.3.9.
- swap and zram support.
- ext2/3/4 support.
- usb otg support.
- ntfs read/write with fuse module built in.
- samba support with cifs module built in.
- wifi modules integrated into kernel, then added into ramdisk. it will be insmod directly from ramdisk and existing wifi modules in rom wont be touched.
for full itsy bitsy changes read the changelog.txt in download folder.
and to comply and abide with gpl, source diff also included in the download folder.

Howto install:
1- be sure u already unlocked bootloader.
2- download correct kernel for your rom and phone and make sure md5 checksum matches. jellybean rom should use the kernel with "jb" in filename. or just use the new hybrid which support cm9/cm9 based, cm10/cm10 based rom and cm10.1/cm10.1 based rom.
3- if kernel downloaded in *.7z format u need to unpack it using winrar or 7zip.
4- flash the kernel via fastboot.

Troubleshoot:
- ini.d script not working? read this
- stuck at booting after flashing kernel? wait a little bit longer. kernel needs to run some script when booting.
- still stuck at booting? wipe cache and dalvik cache via recovery.

2- if u got sudden reboot, after the sudden reboot, paste content of /proc/last_kmesg to pastebin and give me the link.
3- also tell me which phone u use, with which rom and which kernel.
what is that logcat and dmesg thingy u kept talking about? google for it.
how to get it? use this

Hi guys....i'm an experienced developer who ported CM9 on lg P500......today i have a Galaxy SIII Mini and i want to start to develop for this device. Meanwhile i'm helping oliver for cm10, i want to develop a custom kernel. The objective is to have good battery life and great perfomances.
Changelog for v2:
MultiCore Sched Support
JRCU (an RCU optimized for multicore devices)
Optimized Arm RWSem Algorithm
Autogroup Sched
LowmemoryKiller updated to latest version and enabled an option that calculates automatically oom values
Added some Mali patches (thanks to cocafe)
SLQB memory allocator
Row I/O Scheduler default
JIT compiler for net packages
CleanCache
A lots of new Governors
A lots of patches that you can find here: https://github.com/lupohirp/GoldenKernel/commits/master
BUG!!!!! : Reboot option doesn't work. Must fix this in samsung drivers!
Here's changelog for v1:
Kernel compiled with linaro gcc 4.7.3
Added hotplug and pegasusq governor
Cpu unaligned specified path
Dynamic fsync control
Here's the download link(V2):https://hotfile.com/dl/202694028/d947bb6/goldenkernelv2.zip.html
Kernel Sources Here: https://github.com/lupohirp/GoldenKernel
Change Governor with setcpu or nofrills. I reccomend to use OnDemandQ governor for this reason: OnDemandQ disable the second core when is not needed and reactivate it when cpu load is heavy. the result is a great perfomance with a a really good battery drain
For install this FLASH WITH RECOVERY!!!

I think it's under "install zip..." You can toggle signature verification on/off.
Anybody experience problems to backup ROM through Rom Manager?

Didn't try "clean" installation munjeni's rom on my kernel, just flashed on the installed. But my JB rom installed OK.

Confirmed, this kernel works on munjeni rom, just flashed with cwm.
First of all, thank you for your great work.
I think you should add 100 and 600mhz to the frequencies too...also, no oc/linaro optimizations?

Adding 100mhz and 600mhz would be really great combo with oc!
Also someone please report performance, if at all any FCs or reboots and battery drain??

100MHz is tool low, about 200MHz is optimal minimun, less that that can actually cause drains and stability issues.

Nope nothing like that....
Vengeance 1.24 had 100Mhz support. Even with powersave governor my phone was operational.
Doesn't cause any stability or battery drain issues!

In two or three days I'll make new version and try to resolve the issues.
Just tell me are there any FCs on heavy games on munjeni's kernel?

Yes, munjeni's also FCs but I can play for 1 or 2 mins.. In this kernel.. I can't play it just FCs
Don't add OVERCLOCK to the Kernel please.
Custom Cyanogenmod12 kernel for the LG G Pad 8.3 V510 (GPE)
Updated 2-21-15 Added FastCharge and three other IO Schedulers to play with. Made Row the default scheduler, and turned off Knock-on by default. Use my app from the second post to activate Knock-on after each boot.
The CyanogenMod12 ROM can be downloaded from HERE
Thank you @aidfarh for all of your hard work!
Custom Kernel built from the cyanogenmod12 kernel source - Download Below
*NOTE - This kernel currently works with stock lollipop as well!
Features:
Flash Through Recovery!
Interactive Governer as default
Compiled using Linaro Toolchain cortex a15-4.9.3
o3 Compile optimizations
Knock-on enabled through app in second post
Fastcharge added as option - enable using Trickstermod
Row, Sio, Fiops, and Zen IO Schedulers added - trickstermod to change
Sound Control using TricksterMod
LCD Screen Control using TricksterMod
Fsync On/Off using Trickstermod (off as default)
User Space Voltage Control - TricksterMod or my 88sleektweaks init.d script to change.
Exfat support (2-4-15 and later CyanogenMod version)
Lots of optimizations with more to come!
The kernel source and Commits that show all changes for this kernel can be found here:GITHUB
Prerequisites
Unlocked bootloader
Root
Install Busybox for init.d support
TricksterMod is recommended for changing settings
How does this work?
Start by making a Backup of your boot in recovery, then:
Flash the latest version in Recovery . Proceed to the downloads below, download to your tablet, reboot into recovery and install the zip --That simple!
if you want to build your own kernel start to finish with complete instructions, you can follow my guide for rolling your own kernel HERE
Please hit "Thanks" to show your support!

ATTACHED FILES
Knock-on app for my kernel can be downloaded here.
To add my sleektweeks init.d file, and/or the Zipalign file, see my post: HERE
Updated -SleekCyan2 - to include exfat support, LCD screen control, and further optimizations for GPU and the linaro toolchain.
Updated - SleekCyan3 - to include knock-on by default, removal of some debugging, quicker deep sleep. (better battery?)
Thanks for the cm12 kernel. I'm liking you're LP kernel, but will try this one as well...

Exfat support for sdcards now works out of the box with CyanogenMod version 2-4-15 and later.
So I flashed this last night when I saw you posted it recently and this morning I checked it and it had zero battery drain overnight, very nice. Can't wait to dig in a little deeper when I get time. Between this and the new CM12, 2015 is really shaping up to be a good year for the old (but great) v510, finally, thank you.
Sleekmason:
I should be able to use the same sleektweaks and zipalign stuff from the Lollipop kernel, correct?
Thanks

Yep! The latest 88sleektweaks has voltage control table as well ( already adjusted down a bit to the settings I use). These can be changed here but be careful! TricksterMod is useful for making the initial changes to test as they won't get restored on boot. If you change them in the file and something goes wrong, you will have to remove the file using twrp.

Just tried it with CM12 and it's a super V510 combo! Feels fast and smooth! Thanks for your XDA development & contribution.
UPDATED 2-12-15
Added Row IO Scheduler and Sound control - Change using trickster or in settings for row, and in trickster for sound control. Also added upstream fixes.
Is Row better than cfq? I think maybe it is . . . Battery will be the deciding factor for me. If anybody wants Row default for this kernel, let me know and I will implement it on next version. Regards,
I'll give it a go tomorrow, currently I've tweeked to Ondemand and ReadAhead to 512. Cool

Are you finding On-demand better than Interactive? Seems like interactive is smoother to me. Also, keep in mind that the larger the read ahead the more battery is used.

Not much difference maybe slightly faster but still analyzing with the new rom update...
BTW, did you see my post cm12 rom about GPS? Maybe you can take a look...
Row is working very good & smooth so far (speed, smooth & stable are my priorities and then battery). Think I'll stay with it; up to you if u want it as default.

Those who speak up get to choose! Row it is! Will update including row as default next compile.
Great kernel guide thread for those of us who like to mod & test settings in Sleek's Cool kernels!
