well the only other source that I know would be XDA Thread, after that I am out of sources
In addition, you could check the Australian I9300 thread, maybe some user in there got the same carrier and could make you a nandroid or something.

use search their are a number of other sites that may have firmware

samsung-updates he looked at already as mentioned, as well as sammobile.
hence my suggestion to look on XDA's stock firmware thread & in the Australian thread
any other sources you might know for him?
There is at least one more source but sorry not a clue as to name .

Hi all. I would like to keep my stock firmware up to date on my rooted S3, but have a few questions about this. From what I can tell the easiest way to do this seems to be by downloading the newest firmware (say from SamMobile) and using Odin to push it to the phone (since I can't use OTA updates and Kies refuses to connect to my phone). What confuses me about the stock firmware for this phone are the different country/carrier codes. Do I need to be concerned with using one from a different country than me (I'm in the US), or are they just generic firmwares that can be used by any country? SamMobile shows a bunch of new firmwares for the S3 released in February but they all have different country/carriers, what's the point of this? Currently my phone is running baseband version I9300XXELL4 which doesn't seem to coincide with the US, which I guess is also part of what is confusing me.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks for the quick response!
If the country/carrier codes do not matter then why are there so many different firmwares with the different countries?

Modem may or may not be better CSC has local area network settings .
Simple is that you flash a firmware and if you have network problems you try a diffrent modem .

I've checked my CSC and it comes up as unknown - is this an issue or does this need to get fixed before I update my firmware? My phone works fine right now. Also, how do you try a different "modem". Do you mean just flash a different version of the firmware?
Believe me I have checked every sticky in the I9300 forum and none of them explain the difference between the different stock firmwares. None of those links are helpful .

In that case not a clue do i have .
Suggestion is that you actually start at the beginning and learn .
Start by reading the unhelpful links which you have failed to bother to read .
The one about modems may be relevant or not .
XDA does not spoon-feed .

Wow, I come here to politely ask one question (essentially) and this is what I get. In case you have issues reading, read this: I have read every single sticky thread in its entirety (something it seems you haven't done, might I add) and none of them answer the question I am asking. I'm not asking you to "spoon feed" me and hold my hand through rooting my phone or how to use Odin (since all of that info is on sticky threads). I am simply asking what the difference is between stock firmwares that have different country codes. If you cannot answer that, please do not waste my time by responding to this thread. It would do you well to read my entire first post before giving me answers to questions I did not ask to begin with.

Thank you again, and I will try out a random firmware to see if it works. I still am curious as to what the difference is though.
There is a very good guide to csc/modems /baseband etc....All in the stickies .....that you diligently read
That would be that one then that has no information .

as Glebun said, use the search function. A first start would be the guides in the General section as they describe how to go back to stock conditions (YouTube also got guides). You can find all stock ROMs here on XDA or sammobile.com

What phone do you have has to be the first question .
Second question is what are you trying to achieve by flashing roms .

Hey,
Does anyone know where I might find 4.1.1 stock Samsung ROM for my S3? I have tried sammobile.com and samsung-updates.com but both don't have 4.1.1
Thank you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704138
possible in the xda stock rom thread
Should be in Q&A section, but there are some in here (inc UK):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646610
And on sammobile:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9300&pcode=BTU#firmware
They have some Irish ones as well, but all seem to be network branded.

Not possible. I checked there before posting. I am looking for 4.1.1 specifically and any links I have found on the net point to hotfile.com which of course is closed down so I can't find the 4.1.1 version for Ireland anywhere. I am basically trying to get it so that I can use the network unlock commands.
Thanks anyway for trying to help.

Hi there guys. I just wanna help my sis to ask about the s3 firmwares question.
Well, she got an S3 GT-I9300T from Bangkok, and I noticed that I9300 already has official android 4.3 firmware while I9300T doesn't have it yet, so can I flash a I9300 android 4.3 firmware on her I9300T through Odin ?
Thank you for replying this thread and help me out. Appreciate it.

Does this help you?, read this and the next few posts. The only diff between the 9300 and 9300T is the T version picks up the 850Mhz networks other than that they are the same. Thats what I came to after alot of research when I first choose to root it. There is a topic here on xda that also says so.
Try a google search and you will find heaps of results of people flashing 9300 firmware onto the 9300t

Thanks for the information, it's really helpful. :good: Anyway, are you using the I9300T too ?
So does 850mhz networks are better than the normal s3 ? Or it is worse ?
I think I will not risk to flash the firmwares, but I'll try t flash some custom ROMs into it.
Thank you.
Yes I have it, If you are indoubt its usually best not to do it until you are sure.
No it depends on what tech your telco has used to built their networks and we have no choice in it
