This is a general question to do with Xperia X10i. I understand XDA is for developers, and if so,should go to another site please tell me. I have a spare Xperia X10i and I would like to put something else on it and if I blow it up it doesn't matter. Where do people go with no experience if they want to change their phone and get some help in doing so. Be gentle with me if I should get off this site. Bob
We all have to start somewhere.
The XPERIA X10i is the best phone in the world to start out on when looking to modify it.
Unlike newer Sony XPERIA phones you can't really go wrong and you have all options open to you even if you unlock the bootloader at a later date.
I would first off look at your options to gain root access on your phone.
How to gain root access on your XPERIA X10i
With the XPERIA X10i your always have the fall-back of Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) and/or PC companion recovery should things end in tears.

Hi Guys,
I would like to seek you expertise regarding my request, im a noobie and its my first time using a Android Phone (SE Xperia X10 Mini Pro is my 1st) So far im enjoying my phones capabilites however, my internal memory seems to be insufficient and the apps2sd is not compatible with my current OS, i saw a dude (having the same phone as mine) and he is using Gingerbread 2.3.7 OS i was amaze and i asked him how did he upgraded his OS - he just nod and said "Visit XDA-Developers and you'll find out" So here i am humbly requesting your assistance in order for me to maximize my phones full potential. Looking forward for your replies....
PS - I dont even have any idea what "rooting" so im currently sifting the website to learn step by step....
Thanks in advance Masters
Fist thing, you need to do, is to root your device. To root your x10 mini pro, you have to install the latest 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware using SEUS or Sony Ericsson Pc Companion, then, download SuperOneClick from here and extract the archive. Don't forget to deactivate your antivirus, while using Super One Click.
1.Check that you have enabled USB debugging in settings->Applications-->Development. Than, just follow step by step video on the site, I gave you). This is a first step of "changing roms"
I just got an Xperia S, it's a great phone.
I had The Xperia X10 (unlocked bootloader, x10s rom doomkernel max overclock)
I want to unlock my bootloader but I cant get the drivers installed on mij X64 bit windows & pc.
I tried it for 2 day and read allod of posts here.
Can somebody please help me?
I'm Even Willing to PAY good money If someone helps me (of does it for me)
If someones willing please contact me and If you can do the unlocking (I live in Tilburg/the Netherlands) that would even be greater
download the flashtool its has drivers with it. or you can try to download and install pda.net
Ok, I have that, I tried to root and unlock it the same as I did with the x10 it didn't work. Do I have to flash anything in flashtool? Follow the official unlock method (from Sony) or do something els?
Thanks for anwsering so quick buddy!!
Sent from my LT26i using xda premium
I think you unlock x10 using something like easy 1 click similar stuff.
That method is not available with xperia s. As of now, the only way to root is to flash a pre root image. In order to do so, you need to unlock bootloader which also means, you will lose the DRM key.
You can get the full tutorial in the development section.
I know, I followed the instruction only to get stuck at step 13.
if I do this My PC says He couldn.t find any comparable drivers.
here is a screenshot, mayb someone can see where I did What incorrect?
everything worktoud wit an other link for the xperia arc files,
just flast doomlord's latest kernel, looking for wifi files and then I'm ready

Download flashtool (second post in the x10 mini pro development section)
Install it
Install the drivers in the drivers subfolder if you don't have Sony Update Service or PC Companion
Delete x10blrelock.ftf from the firmsares subfolder. (it will brick your phone if you accidentally flash it to your phone)
Run flashtool
Press the padlock button and follow instructions.
Your phone will be rooted.
As for best ROM, opinions differ, so you have to try some out for yourself.
Hi, Im new on this forum, and this is my first android phone, so, i just came out from stoneage, I been using my xperia Go st27a ICS compilation 6.1.1.B.1.10, for over two months, and sometimes its pretty slow, and im sick of all the apps i cant delete, anyway I want to root my phone, but not complete sure of how so, I have been seeing tutorials all over google and youtube and I still have many doubts. and i dont want to **** my phone up
Is "Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18.7z" safe to do on my Xperia Go St27a android 4.0.4 compilation 6.1.1.B.1.10?
I have already done my backups and the PC Companion already have the actual drivers, i think.
what I need to do now? does the "compilation" really matters? I only find tutorials for Xperia Go but compilation 6.1.1.B.1.54 ...
where are the steps i have to follow to root my phone? please.
Hey xda community,
im kind of new to this forum and I do have a little question.
I've read articles about the Sony Ericsson Xperia P, that it isnt rootable if an android version like 4.1.x is used.
Well I have a Sony Ericsson Xperia P and wanted to root it with Bin4rys "Root Many Android" root tool.
I hope its enough information, because I do not really know what to post.
Model: LT22i
Android-Version: 4.1.2
Build-Number: 6.2.A.1.100
if more information is needed, please say it.
But my question is, can I root this device without having Soft or Hard- Bricks using Bin4rys tool? (Phew, I hope its the right word)
Regards
