I am yet to root my phone because I was wondering is there was any particular ROM's aimed at heavy gaming?
I use a PlayStation emulator monstly to run games such as FF7, FF9 and a few others but I like a few android games aswell.
Dont get me wrong there isnt anything wrong but curiosity has got me wondering if it could be better lol
I have a Samsung Galaxy S III GT-I9300 (T-mobile)
Android Version: 4.1.2
(If there is anything else you want to know just say )
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your replys

Unfortunately this will be classed as a "Best ROM" thread and because of the subjective nature of the question, is against the rules.
All you can do is test them all and see how you get on

All kinds of Best Rom/Kernel/etc threads are unwelcome, read, research and make your own mind up, as the question is very subjective.

Ok thanks. What about if I re-worded like ''Is there any ROM's out there more aimed at gaming''?
Or is still a case of having to try them all out?

Hello, i just have a galaxy ace phone. I must say i am a complete noob in terms of smartphones and android thing.
So, i have some nasty lag on my galaxy ace phone. I know the cpu isn't big only 800mhz, but that one can't handle android ?
If you know something to help me get rid of the lag problems, it will be very nice.
Here is my phone info:
Android version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: S5830XWKS2
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL706042 [email protected] #1
Build number: GINGERBREAD.XWKR2
Hope it helps.
And i must say, i got the phone from Orange network, and i use Vodafone, and i went to some guys to "unlock" it to let me use the Vodafone network.
Thanks, i hope you can give me some advice, in getting rid of that stupid lag.
PS: And please get pass the stereotypes like, search the forum, or read posts. I don't have much time available to read all the forum and learning how to...
Root phone, flash cyanogenmod, overclock cpu,use chainfire 3D. Still cant get the performance you need? I guess, you should get another phone
The max. frequency my phone runs on is 480mhz, but lag is near zero though....you might want to root your phone and delete some bloatware...

wait! i re-read your last statement. It seems to be pretty contrary to what this post says. <forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2031989&postcount=45>
I don't want performance, just want to get rid of the phone menu lag.
I don't know anything about flash, root, and what you told me there, so it's useless to put some bunch of words just for purpose of posting. If you want to help me, in other matter, ok if you don't thanks, and bye !

frankly i'm pissed abit reading this.
its not stereotype, its the right thing to do.
no one gonna spoonfed bits by bits if u yourself dont bother to read. good luck getting somewhere with that attitude.
What a noob !! you should really take time to read forum rules and TUT's...it'll be for your own good.
Ok, so then what is the purpose of a forum, if you don't want to help me ? I really don't have your unlimited time available to start to read every thread and post in this phone section. At least give me something to read, about how to root the phone and flash the firmware, or whatever it's called, and to overclock the cpu.
And please stop with that childish and boring attitude with what a noob, you were a noob too, don't forget. It doesn't help me and you either.
I didn't created the account today to start a fight now, but you really don't know to handle a complete and absolute noob in terms of smartphones and android software, how wants to solve a simple issue - get rid of the phone lag menu.
Thanks !
really you think that people here have lost jobs and are just trolling here and there ??
i agree you can't read every thread but searching do not involve reading 100000 threads..
simple google can help you with that.. all were noob but not so agressive.. if you wan't some work to be done then give it proper time and if you can't then pay someone at shop to get work done
Thanks, i will try my own to solve the issue.
ok then.
this is a simplest u can do to eliminate the lags.
1. root the phone. read this thread, especially the "E" section.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1034145
2. install any tools that can freeze bloatware that always running in background like titanium backup and just freeze any unused app.
yea I was a noob, but I didn't pester other people with my questions. All that I needed to know to get out of the 'noob' club was already here, so searching and reading was all that was required.
btw, here's everything you'd need.

PM me if you have any problems.
Some of the links doesn't work, the the attachments none, either.

!! Chainfire3D is for 1ghz+ devices only !!
Found in Chainfire3D description.. How can we use it then lol.
Or do you mean overclock to 1ghz ( if that is possible ) and then install Chainfire3D?

Hi guys, new to the forum and fairly new to android, I've got a galaxy s3 international version locked to the three network in the UK, I've been considering using a custom ROM but wanted to know your opinions?
Criteria for me are simple, I like the look of stock android so I want that or something similar, but I like the functionality of TouchWiz so would like to retain that if possible. The only other thing is the quick settings/toggles on the notification bar in TouchWiz, this is something I now cannot live without so it needs to have that or something similar (tbh i just like the auto rotate, wifi and brightness toggles).
Thanks in advance guys, look forward to your answers.
Chris.
Welcome to the forums. Always check the stickies before you post.

the best thing to do is to try different ROMs for yourself. Everyone has their own preference and no 2 rom set ups are exactly the same.

Thanks for the advice, ill look into some roms and try a few out, another question i have though is whats the difference between the android development forum, and the original development forum?
Also in regards to checking the stickies about asking which rom is best I did not ask that, I simply asked for a recontamination from experianced users to help me find a rom which suited my specification, it wasnt as simple as which rom is the best, it was more of a "which rom can provide these features" kinda thing.
Thanks for the help though appreciate it, cant help but think how much better/faster my s3 will be without the samsung software

It will be much better. :highfive: I will be closing this though, as it will turn into a best rom thread and "who has more features" or "whose is more stable". Best thing to do is read up and try.
Hi all,
I am completely new on the Android scene and just got my new Samsung Galaxy S3 GT-i9300.
Now my question is, what is the best custom ROM for my phone, because there are tons out there but I don't know which to choose.
Is there a way to get the paid apps from the google play store for free when I have custom ROM, because I've heard somewhere that you can download paid apps and games for the store for free, don't know if that's true.
Sorry if this is in the wrong section btw.
Greetings from a Android Newbie

The single most annoying question. There is no such thing as a "best ROM". What's best for you might not be for others, so pick one you like the look of and try it.

you may not find too many people here that have the Korean version or run it.
HOWEVER, go into the general forum and look into the "Super Everything Thread"
if you check post #3, I believe everything related to your model is listed here on XDA
doesn't look like much to me. I think there is only 1 ROM
have you tried Google to run search?
good luck

Of course I did but i'm not sure that my Note can run that ROM because it's only for Note AT&T.
Anyway thank you so much.

that's really confusing and im not sure how that happened, but that doesn't mean anything.
I might question...........what modem are you running with success. I would think if you have AT&T modem, than you could run ROM that's compatible.
don't want you to brick though, just in case im an idiot.
it is not suggested to post same question in multiple threads but I would suggest the "Stupid Questions" thread.
not that your question is stupid, but definitely a unique issue from my experience. maybe you could word it slightly different and they may inquire as to which MODEM you are using too. assuming your phone is working ?
they are very knowledgeable and I have visited there a few times myself with probably more stupid question than this.
good luck
Hi guys,
I've just bought myself a new SGSIII, and as a huge android development fan I instantly started to think of rooting it. I've moved from a 'grandpa' i9000, which was slow and laggy, so rooting and installing custom ROMs was my only hope. But on the i9300 there is no lagg at all, the phone is flying. So the question is - is S3 worth rooting? What advantages and how much of them could you exclude? (I don't count JB 4.2 as an advantage as I've been using it on my old phone for quite a long time and even got bored by it..)
Thanks!

I did, but I didn't find anything new in there, just the basic info. I know what rooting is and what does it do, I just wanted to know how much does it affect particularly i9300.

It's still not what I asked . Of course rooting does the same thing, but what I'm interested in is the opinion of S3's users about it - how much of a boost was it, are custom ROMs more handy than stock and so on. These things differ.

It is what you asked. rooting opens the same doorways to new features and a higher level of control on any phone to the same degree. IMHO every phone should be rooted for these reasons.

And I want to know what these doorways lead to. Maybe OCing or installing/uinstalling any particular app/kernel/ROM gives a performance boost. I'm not interested in the fact that I am able to browse or make changes in more directories than normally. I want to know if it's possible to make a difference in S3's performance and how big the difference would be.
Work it out yourself man.

I have updated the link JJE posted. Have a look towards the end "the advantages of root".
Yes you can alter performance and those alterations can be construed as perceivable.
