[LINK][ODIN][TAR][VZW] SCH-I545 VRUAME7 Factory Image - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

VRUAME7 is impervious to previous bootloader bypass methods. Proceed at your own discretion.
I have not yet delved into the files to see exactly what is included here over MDK. A few users have reported Apps2SD being included and a change in phone status that now displays a "Secure Boot Status Field" in addition to the SELinux Status field.
Flash this file in ODIN (under the PDA section) while your phone is in download mode to restore or upgrade to ME7. This will wipe your phone.

We need a guinea pig to flash this then to try flash back to the old build to see if it's possible for those that want to root. Apparently this new build blocks flashing the pre-release kernel which will kill our ability to root (at this time ). I'd like to get the radios yanked out of the new build so that we can see if they're any better than what's in the old builds.

This is not an OTA. You have to use Verizon's software updater on your computer to get the update. And it's been reported that root keeper apps aren't working.

OTA rootkeeper is the name of the app. I'm aware that this isn't an OTA (yet). The application creates a backup copy of your SU so that you can restore it post-update (regardless of update method). It's a method that's been being used on Motorola phones for the better part of 2 years now to retain root through updates. It is file system dependent though and I'm not sure it's supported on samsung phones. Just curious if anyone had tried this particular app yet.

Can we flash this file that the OP posted or only way to update is through Kids on a PC or Mac?

Give it a try and report back. You seem to have a better understanding of the app than most so you would make a good candidate to try it.

Yes. However the build does have some bugs. The apps 2 sd "feature" seems to be causing apps to think there is no sd installed on my phone. Also, my wifi is totally borked. It connects and gas full bars but transfers at less than 1 Mbps. I have a 50Mbps connection.

I flashed this last night with no problems from my wifi. I was able to stream hd with no hiccups. I haven't tried the apps2sd yet because I don't a storage issue. Otherwise works great. Less lag, wifi toggle by default, less heat while watching videos and playing games.

[Q] Setcpu purchase

Good afternoon,
I had installed the Setcpu apk on my phone and I realized how amazing the app is and how much it helps me out daily. I went ahead and decided that the least I could do was to go ahead and purchase it in the market as my appreciation but after uninstalling the app, the following happens:
I go to the app in the market and it says purchased. Please note I still have not purchased it.
I then click on it and install but then it will return an error saying I have no purchased it yet, so it seems I am stuck in between.
Anyone know of a way of fixing this so I can buy this application from the dev?
I went ahead and sent him an email but I have not heard back from him.
He is probably trying to figure it out himself.
Thanks beforehand as always.

Uninstall setCPU. Market has it in its cache that you own it because it's a paid app on their service and you have it installed on your phone.
Then clear market data, go back into market and the app should be gone. Then you should be able to purchase it.
He had released a version for xda members for free awhile back. I had it on og evo. It's not warez, the dev just tested it with xda members and that was his way of saying thanks.

Yes sir. It seems to be locked under my Google account.
ive seen happen a couple times to a couple different people...the solution that seemed to work is an older version of the market... what if you go to the market website and buy it and install it from there?? that might work also
you are aware setcpu is a lil funky on the evo 3d due to dual core and all??... i could never get it to work properly for me..
What if I uninstall the updates to the market? Are you sure it will work with older versions? Can anyone back up his statement regarding setcpu on the evo 3d? I thought it was working pretty good but you can never know for sure.
I too am having the same issue. I downloaded here on the xda forums but would like to purchase it on Android Market but says ready purchased when not. Worse case scenario is to contact google support and see if they are able to unlink it from my account
Have you tried to use the titanium backup function to detach from market? Find the app, long press on it in titanium and select detach. No clue if this will fix, just an idea.

I'm running it now. I had it sitting in the uninstalled section of my apps for the longest time. Finally a few days ago, I decided to look at it and in the changelog, they said they improved support for our device's SoC (and specifically listed the 3d as one of the devices they improved support for). Now the app works just as it should, and it only requests superuser access once when the phone starts up, as opposed to asking once every 30 or so seconds like it used to.
I've had the same problems talk have had but here's a fix.

Swype for SGS3

Has anyone managed to install Swype on your SGS3? I'm desperately searching for a way to install it. Mine is a stock set from Singtel in Singapore, pre-loaded with Singtel and Samsung bloatware, but with no swype.
Attempting to install from swype installer gives me a parsing error.
Installing using a backup apk from my SGS1 makes the swype have a funny resolution. it only fills half the screen.
anyone have a solution? i'm so used to swype that manual typing is really awkward for me.
Yup, I know exactly how you feel.
I've been using Swype Since the Omnia!
I'm on a Singtel S3 as well.
Download the installer & try to get swype installed over a Wifi connection.
I too got the "Parsing" error.
I had to make several attempts (~10) before it finally downloaded Swype.
I didn't vary anything in each attempt; just kept hammering at it to get the download going.
Hope this helps!
So it's a network error? Doesn't seem like it to me. I've tried on several wifi connections to no avail. just tried clicking
is the resolution of your swype keyboard correct? any chance you could upload the apk file?
I got that when i had tw5 installed on my s2. Once I switched to a different launcher it worked

Because a uk based phone rep has close links with the Samsung developer hierarchy. Lol.
More likely to do with licencing too many 3rd party apps methinks. And a desire to keep it in house.

the problem is that it can't be installed. when you select "Swype Beta" and click download, it ALWAYS gives a "Parse error" no matter which network you are on. shahid317's method is a quick fix for those who can't live without swype. it's not exactly swype (not as intuitive.. or maybe i'm just not used to it) but it will work for now.

I'd say the rep knows nothing, considering Samsung integrated some of Swype into their keyboard. I just prefer to have the extra characters easily available, and the cut, paste, arrow stuff.
I've technically got it installed through my ti backup, but I've also been trying to reinstall it. My tab upgraded and has a newer version, and I'm hoping that it may solve the height issue. To those that have it installed is it still much shorter than other keyboards?

I'm also getting the "Parse error" on my unrooted SIII, no matter what wireless network or 3g connection I have. Quite annoying the Samsung version just doesn't quite cut the mustard so to speak.

Obsolete[How To]Streaming video buffering and quality fix & YouTube fix

Apparently this doesnt work on new bases. Just an fyi. I dropped this phone for one that everything works on. So I can't continue work on this.
I am no responsible for permanent damage, the world ending, zombies roaming the earth if it is a result of this thread/post. I should also mention that this probably won't work on an fully aosp rom like cm10 since stock dialer and probably an associated file is gone.
I'm a huge netflix user. While some mods show and suggest changing the proxy settings via ##3282# (the password is your msl code which you can get either from msl reader in market or asking sprint for it. If they ask just tell them you want a factory reset through the dialer) and your MSL code the RSTP and HTTP proxy settings to 0.0.0.0 port 0 I agree with the HTTP proxy being changed to fix YouTube however I would suggest only slightly modifying the HTTP proxy settings.
As we know changing the HTTP proxy to 0.0.0.0 port 0 fixes YouTube over 3g.
I was having some buffering a lot on Netflix. I adjusted the RSTP proxy port one up from 554 to 555 and found a profound improvement on streaming clarity and no buffering on 3g. Which makes some sense to me if all the HTC EVOs are using the 554 port and probably other phones that it would get congested.
1. Call sprint and ask for your MSL Code. (if they ask tell them you want to do a master reset through the dialer to fix an issue) or you can download MSL Reader from the Market>if you have ROOT< -->which is free its found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5lc2Njb2RlLm1zbCJd (thanks ZEDEK)
2. Hit ##3282# and then "edit mode" enter in password (msl code)
3. Touch "advanced" (careful what you edit this whole menu may mess up radio service big time if not careful.)
4. Touch "RTSP/HTTP Setting"
5. For the known youtube fix put the HTTP Proxy at 0.0.0.0 and the HTTP Proxy port at 0
6 For the Netflix or other Video Streaming fix leave the RSTP proxy where it is and choose a new RSTP proxy port around the 554 default is my suggestion. I personally use 555.
7. Nothing else is needed just back out of the settings once these are changed. I would suggest a reboot but it may not be needed.
This is mainly theory but seems to have done the trick for me. I had the clearest Netflix I have ever had last night after changing the port. That went from buffering every five minutes just before.
Second night crystal clear no buffering on 3g for me.
Kinda sorta stuff from this a lil bit http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1816493

Oh ok, well, still thanks for informing me about this. I changed both, guess I'll check the rstp now, lol
Edit: got a lot less buffering after I changed rstp proxy to 555. Thanks again

Good deal. Don't be afraid to try different ports. Now this will also be affected by network congestion. Try it later tonight and see if there is a difference from your norm. I will be trying again this evening before I mail this phone back to see that it sticks as a fix.

How are you doing this on a locked phone? When trying to Edit settings out asks for a password.
Step one is call sprint as you need the msl code (password)

Can anyone tell me what this Chinese notification is and why I keep getting it?

Hello All,
Please see the photo below. I keep getting the notification seen in the picture on nearly a daily basis. Can anybody tell me what the heck it is, what it means, and why I am getting it?

As of the moment, I'm treating it as adware/spyware/malware and I will not let it install. If you click it, it brings up the package installer. For the moment I just clear my cache and my dalvik, then do a restart and it doesn't show up for a few more hours.
I greatly appreciate your help!

Got any new Apps that you installed around the same time you starting getting them? I only see Notifications like that from an App that pushes it, so I would assume it's coming from something you downloaded on there.

That is a airpush ad.. It's caused by an application you downloaded, download airpush detector from the play store and it will tell you which app is causing this, delete the app and it won't happen again.. Here's a link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector

I'm going to wait for the notification to push again and I'll see if the first 2 tools I downloaded reveal the source. If that doesn't work, then i'll try masking it with adaway.

UPDATE: The notification popped up but didn't register on either of the apps that you guys had suggested I download. I searched the Google Play Store and I found a different app that yielded the picture I have shown below.
All of these should be trusted Apps. Any ideas? Also, it would make no difference if I wiped my phone clean and started over, as I have seen this issue pop up on my last several builds of CleanROM. (I always do a full wipe in between versions).

I would work backwards... How long have you been getting this push notification? What apps have you downloaded around that same time? Delete each app one at a time to find out which one is pushing. Had one similar to this but can't remember what it was from. Would try deleting the apps in your screen shot. Even if they are trusted apps, doesn't mean they don't push things.
My guess would be ebay or the last two apps. Ebay wouldn't surprise me

That really could be a pain because the notification only pops up once in a while. In theory, I could be without some of my crucial apps that I use everyday for many days before something pops up.
I'm still hopeful that someone might be able to translate what it says to provide some insight.

I wish this was the case, but I don't have any Goapps installed.
try adfree android and see if it goes away...or odin back to stock and see if
the notification still pops up.
The ad is gonna be from an app so it doesn't matter if you wipe or revert to stock, so you downloaded adaway and ran the app? Music paradise gives me one of those annoying push notifications but adaway stops it. Btw you have to press download files and apply ad blocking on the adaway app

[APP/FIX] Wifi Tether Fix for Jellybean 4.3 roms

If you're like me and are going crazy scouring the interwebs for a workaround on Wifi Tethering then look no more. Just follow these steps to get the Wifi Tether app working on Jellybean Roms. I have got this working on my Rezound running CM 4.3 (See figure 1)
Steps:
1.) Uninstall any other similar Wifi Tether apps such as FoxFi or Barnacle
2.) Reboot into Recovery and Wipe Dalvik cache, then Reboot
3.) Download and install Wifi Tether app via Attachment Below
4.) In app go to Settings and Change Device Profile to "Generic ICS/JB(wlan0)" ((See figure 2))
5.)(Optional) Setup SSID and/or Password
and thats it. Start Tethering and enjoy

Probably an app I'm running, just haven't had time to troubleshoot it.
