Google News had this in its technology section: www.techspot.com/news/53165-google-patches-master-key-android-flaw-ships-code-to-oems.html
I wonder if they will push 4.2.2 faster now that the flaw is out in the open.. Or maybe even 4.3 lol

This is an interesting thought. One can only hope. Does such code exist at the OS level where it would require an OTA to implement? If so that's going to be a nightmare for carriers, and a huge tarnish on Android's reputation as a whole - at least to those aware of the issue.

I doubt it tarnishes android as this was reported on 1 weeks ago. And it was about a security flaw when downloading 3rd party apk's not found in the market.
I also believe Google wanted this to happen because about a month ago they were saying how they would be outing software security issues to the public from other companies assuming it will force the other company to fix the security flaw sooner than later.... Given how fast they fixed this "huge" security hole in their own software so fast... They can now say see we fixed our issue this fast and it was "huge"... so can you ... Smart move if you ask me...

Within the next couple days we should get an update, primarily for the green tint a lot of us have ffrom the camera.
If you don't get it within a few days I'd check out the HTC site for it.

Lol dude I know. But it tweaks some other minor issued too. Idk what they include though.
But don't get me wrong, this phone is my favorite by far. And I've had the epic, OG EVO, and the shift. And this kills all those. Dead.

I know it might be too late for this OTA, but I wonder if it closes the exploit to obtain temp root.
Just wondering How and where did you happen to get this info from?
Yeah where's your source.
I still wont touch any updates, im not loosing any chances for full root and unlocked. Ill deal with it, im sure it'll be baked into a custom ROM when theyr'e available.

I know this sounds dumb but some say that this phone is set for failure due to it not having a unlock bootloader well what if we start a petition and let Motorola know what we want?
I'm just saying this because I see some people say is development going to pick up or not or some say well this other phone is better because now it's unlocked ...
With that said in a short time I have come to realize that it takes time and well I remember that a petition worked for another phone.

Yea I agree with you.
And that's why instead of seeing more people complaining about it then how bout the try to do something about it and well a petition was my suggestion.
And like I said I read a article in engadget were owners of this one phone all made a petition and the manufacturer responded to them.
I want to say it was for the Motorola X... But not sure...
And while on the topic anyone know how to start a cyber petition?

I think that as processing power and overall I/O performance continues to increase with smartphones, the hypervisor idea that VMware is developing has the potential to be a game changer. I've been using VMware in some form since the early stages and at first it was limited by the current hardware technology at that time. As hardware specifications got better, so did the product. Now I couldn't imagine not having it in my data center. With a platform like this on a smartphone it would do several things. It would allow someone to easily run their own custom OS without modifying the "factory install " but more importantly it could provide one standardized hardware platform no matter what the underlying hardware configuration was. I would love to be able to develop one ROM that would run on 10 different devices without any additional modifications needed. That is my perfect world and with VMware and the performance potential of the dual core processors I think you are going to be seeing some real game changing technology over the next few years.

While that is a good read, I do believe the online/social blitz petitions was quite helpful in regards to HTC to unlocing their bootloader, or at least in them responding to the development community and creating that HTC Dev site that would facilitate those wanted to unlock their devices.
Even though Motorola is not HTC, I do hope that Moto does listen and make it happen.
TS out
Petition for Motorola to unlock bootloader- created Mar'11- so far 10,000+ signatures.

Actually, the VM notification bug has already been fixed as long as you have S-OFF thanks to rootzwiki. Let's see how long it takes them to integrate that fix, assuming they go that route. In other words, if you are using the rooted MR3 OTA then you are good to go. The fix also works on other GB roms as well and I believe Bamf already includes it.

Eh, I didn't really word that right. I just meant that is where people are getting that info. It most likely was a Twitter post or something, but probably from the VZW support account. (which still doesn't hold much weight) In any case I fully agree that putting your faith in internet rumors is not the best plan.

I would say it's something wrong with your phone then. I use my music every day on the way to work on the bus and I haven't had any buzzing since taking the ota. I'm on complete stock never unlocked or rooted. I like this phone the way it is so I'm leaving it be. But the ota fixed it for me.

if you are getting it from online or any other way through the mail it will most likely have the pos ota that cant be rooted yet (i'm in the same boat and while the stock rom is pretty good the verizon and htc bloatware is annoying to say the least)
Most of the bloatware can be disabled on stock although it's not removing it you can prevent it from being seen and running in your phone.
