Just dropped my S3 this afternoon. Cracked/broke the top glass edge.
Is there a simple way to:
1. get the unit replaced by Three (no insurance but its only a few months old on contract)
2. Get it repaired by a service centre (how much??)
3. Repair it myself...what do I need?
Many thanks.

to repair my broken glass an indipendent service (not samsung official) asked my for 280€ (new glass and work), this in italy.. i don't know in your place..
Do you think that would have been avoided with a case that covers the end of the phone?

Same happened to mine, had it replaced at a Samsung service centre for £150 all in.

I have a case that covers the back casing and edges.
It doesn't cover the front face...

Ok. It looks a straightforward procedure. I can get the glass screen off Amazon for £14 so will give it a go...
Brave guy. I cracked mine, however I'm going to sell it. Damaging the digitizer while replacing the glass would be too costly.
I saw on ebay the glass and digitizer for 20 bucks.

Read the feedback..
"Looks like, the flex cable was already used!"
"Сlearly is not a T720. non-original parts"
"This is a Scam pice plastic"
And the item description:
"The Digitizer together with the Display,do not come with the Front Glass.Pls remember this."
Smart way to cover it indeed.
Maybe a protective case would have saved it, in fact I always have it on (Samsung) original, the only moment that I have taken it off, the phone dropped from about 20cm and the screen cracked.. I have been unlucky because I've hit the cracking point of the glass..

Probably going for an Otterbox as I had this on my ETC. Bomb proof!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
option 3 is only for non noobs , you do know how to seperate digitizer from outer glass right ?
Try to do it yourself if you are comfortable with opening your phone
my gosh! unfortunate.. I'll defend that with otterbox, before mine will be like that
You guys know that the lcd+touchscreen+glass are one unit right? There is no way you can replace them separately.
I work in a mobile repair center I know what I'm talking about.

It is possible and if you took time to read this thread from the beginning and follow the links you will be able to watch I it being done
Sorry if I've angered you but I did read the whole thread. Maybe you are right maybe not.
I'll rephrase then: In my opinion it is not possible to change the display, glass or digitizer separately. It is a single unit as it was with the Galaxy S and Galaxy SII.

Ok so the guy has some balls I give you that.
I am in no way trying to pick a fight here. All this is only my opinion.
You will have airgap between the screen and digitizer, second I wonder if the speaker works after al that heat applied. To me it looks highly unprofessional. Again just an opinion.
Remember most people complain about their screen being pentile 1-2 dead pixels and I could go on and on.
This is in my opinion not a good solution. Cheap but not good.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
what i did was, order 1 screen+digitizer for 270 US dolars, replace the broken 1.
them i remove the cracked glass from the broken screen and replace it with a new glass
and sell that part for half the price.
Has anyone tried, or know about the Tridea View Flip Case?
I want to know if it has the integrated S-View functionality like the OEM and others out there. There aren't any reviews for this case anywhere and the window looks quite a bit smaller than the OEM S-View case which makes me think that it won't behave like the S-View case.
Link to the product:
http://www.amazon.com/Tridea-Samsung-Italian-Standing-Display/dp/B00FBK1MKG
Thanks!!
If they had a black one I'd buy it (not sure why they made a black color for the non-s-view). Also it has a smaller s-view window so i'm skeptical if it'll function like the OEM features.
I bought the black one from eBay. Overall, its a decent case but does add bulk. The S-View function doesn't work, I think it's supposed to have a magnet but there isn't one.
I only use it when I'm out with my kids so they can use it in stand mode.

Forgot to mention that the plastic screen will get scratched up, mine had a hairline one right out of the box.
The card slot is so tight that I don't want to risk even putting one card in there for fear that it would rip.

Thank you for the review!! I've decided to get the Spigen one instead now that's its been released.
Can the housing of the international version housing fit our version, the e970? It seems that the sprint variant and int'l variant parts are waay cheaper than the at&t parts and my back glass is broken and I don't have so much money for the at&t part.
So I'm wondering if I can simply buy an int'l version's housing to replace it with. Can it work?
No it can't. The Att e970 has slightly different dimensions. Cases of the international or sprint version will not fit I tried it. I won't fit. I know it is a shame since they have way more cases and options to choose from.

So I have had this for a couple of days now and I have to say it works way better than the 3 stock cover slide in aftermarket receivers I tried.
This factory one works great on the Nokia bases that all the other units choked on.
Now I set it down on them and I don't have to be careful. It just charges. None of that on and off stuff the other after market inserts did.

No new cover needed
I see the S5 has an official cover released now too. But these covers seem to be fatter than stock.
wiqiqi dot com - The Note 3 receiver they're selling here is what I am using without any added thickness and no issues whatsoever. And it's cheaper too.
Is this cover like the stock back cover that makes the camera lens pop out or its like the cases that makes the camera not pop out?
I mean I'm planning to get the aluminum bumpers but I am also looking for a back cover that secures the camera when put on flat surfaces
Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
I am going to be getting the note 3 next week, and I am definitely interested in wireless charging, I've never used it before.
Tell me, please, do you still have access to the USB port when this is installed? Does it replace the original back cover that comes with the phone? How does it connect to the battery? Does it charge slower over wireless than when charging via USB? Does it affect NFC?
I realize these questions could be Googled, but if someone has this unit it would take only a moment to answer. Thank you

It is thicker than the stock back cover, just like the sview cover. The camera is recessed and does not touch anything when you lay the phone on its back. Perfect for a bumper case.

You still have access to the USB port and can charge through the USB port if you like. If you look at the picture you can see pins that stick out.... Those connect to the phone allowing the battery to charge wireless and it does replace the whole back cove and make the phone a little thicker. Lastly it does charge slower especially compared to the thr USB 3.0 cable that comes with the phone. I have not tested nfc as I really don't have a use for it but I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect if if you get the Samsung and not an aftermarket.

those won't work if the picture is the actual back plate they use. Scroll down and you can see their NFC/Wireless Charging Pins are not separated between the two technologies, ours are. The pins wouldn't line up correctly. I guess we could get lucky and its the NFC pins that are offset, but unless you just have money to burn I would wait and see.
Someone posted this in the non separated forums: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Fact...G-G3-CASE-D885-D830-D851-D850/1971193812.html
They let you choose the US models and have a picture of the pins further down the page.

I get a good discount on accessories from Verizon so i picked two up yesterday. Be aware that the ones they are selling do not have wireless charging built in. They're just $50 basic covers. I went to Sprint afterwards and theirs don't have wireless charging either.
