Hehe I'm at 106gb right now thank you unlimited data

Wow!! I'm on limited now.. 4 gigs a month.. I'm at 2 gigs so far.. I hate it and hate that I had to leave the unlimited.. But my old Razr flip phone was dead and dated..
id be careful going over that mythical 100gb barrier on a regular basis as verizon theoretically can cancel your contract for abuse of network (or something like that)
and you will see the occasional thread for verizon phones from time to time where people post warnings from verizon for it
im sure some would actually *like* getting their contract cancelled so they could jump ship w/ no etf though
And you guys are the reason Verizon got rid of their unlimited plan.

Out of curiosity, what do you do to use so much data? I'm on unlimited as well, but I rarely even break my 2GB mark (I am on wifi at home and at work a lot so I know I'm lower than I would be otherwise). If I weren't on wifi as much as I am I can't imagine I'd ever break 10GB, if even that high.

Cause you're the reason its expensive... LTE has a huge footprint and can handle tons of users... Its greed don't be dumb.

Home broadband is capped for most of the US, usually at 250 gigs.
And if it's greed, then why am I paying less for data now. If it was greed wouldn't everyone be paying more?

How are you paying less? It was 30 for unlimited now its 30 for 2gb... Cutting unlimited and charging the same for it is greed technically less for more considering the cost per data ratio.

Also.. I don't think most home broadband is capped. I've been with four different service providers and go way over that every month. I think I know of one or two that cap. This is minus colleges of course. It may be area specific though that I don't know.

Exactly. They dropped unlimited when there were very few LTE phones. It was merely a money issue, not a network abuse issue. They knew an influx of users would be coming to Verizon with the launch of the iPhone and it was an easy way to make truckloads of money.

Please explain how you pay less? It was $30 for unlimited. It is now $30 for 2GB. How in any way shape or form is that less money? You are charged the same amount for less data.
You may be paying less for voice and text, but not data.
And I do believe only AT&T and maybe Time Warner cap home usage.

yeah verizon clearly didnt feel the need to be as competitive with incentives to keep customers from leaving once it had its own iphone
i think tiered/family plans were probably going to happen on vzw regardless of the iphone the following things changing would probably not have if they didnt work it out w/ apple
my verizon customers annual upgrades (the loss of this almost made me leave verizon)
regular upgrades now at a full 24 months vs 20
as for broadband caps its provider specific for sure...(ironically) we have verizon fios at home and there are no caps

I think alot of places have a soft 250gb cap. I've heard that Comcast does. Supposedly at that point you are supposed to start seeing slower speeds or something. This is purely based of memory btw.
As for the how is he paying less? I know my family plan went down in price once we went to the family share plan by about 20-30$ a month. So that may be what he is talking about.
You are paying less for voice and text, not data tho. If I jumped on a share plan right now, yea I'd save $20, but I'd also be stuck with 2-4GB a month. If I got the 10GB to share plan, I'd pay more than I do now for 3 lines (2 with unlim data, 1 dumb phone) and that's without overages haha, which I would do by 20+GB a month. When you have kids and you take HD video of them and it uploads to 2 different places and you stream HBO, Netflix, Youtube on 2 phones... lol, I'd burn through 10 in a week.
I typically rock like 10 to 15 gigs a month, and i don't even tether. jeez!

I'm paying for the data. Should be mine to do as I please (within legal restraints obviously). I hate the misdirection about unlimited too. Unlimited as long you stay within a certain limit isn't unlimited. Should be black or white. Not grey with tons of fine print.
luckily ive been with tmobile for a looong time and i still have the true unlimited plan.
I use AT&T and I wifi tether on a Vibrant. I feel that wifi tethering is fine because we're paying for data anyway. Not our faults they invented something smarter than what they can control. It was those phone brands that decided to put that function into the phones. Whatever our phones come with should be made available for us to use. It's like what's the point of a front facing camera (besides camwhoring) if you cant Skype with it.

Hey just wondering if sprint throttles at a certain usage amount on 3g. I ask because I'm in Vegas for the next 3 weeks with my family and since I can't gamble yet I'll be chilling in the room for a while on some days tethering to my laptop. And since the 3g where I am staying is roughly .5mbps and there isn't lte yet I'd rather not get screwed into slower speeds. And since roms are 500Mb every time an update comes out and I'm tethering to do other browsing you can see how this will add up over the coarse of the month. So should I be worried or just not worry since I don't plan on streaming 100gb of Netflix like I've seen someone else in a thread do...
P.s. No keyboard warriors start a fight here because every time a data throttle thread starts people get their jimmys rustled and start going into super debate mode. Just looking for straight answers

Ive never experienced any throttling and I use a TON of data. I'm always streaming/downloading music and movies and never have any slow down.
It depends. Are you hotspotting illegitimately? As in, do you pay Spring $30 a month to use their hotspot app? If so then you have 5GB I believe.
If you are just tethering over any other app then you do not have a cap or throttle limit. Though I read that if they figure out that you are tethering over a third party app they can do things. Maybe throttle. Maybe charge you the $30 that month. I don't know for certain.

I pull between 1.5 and 3mbps down on 3G here in Atlanta.
I believe the most data usages I have has is 3gb on my phone per one month. I find that I tether a little more.lately since moving to a new place where I won't order internet til September.
I read a post by a guy who used 125gb tethering each month and sprint kicked him off their network.
I think as long as you're not a red flag like that, then you're fine. I hope, anyway, for my sake too!
I just Downloaded a ps3 update today that was probably 300mb? Heh

ATT came out with their family share plans today...pretty sweet for those of use who use alot of data or ESPECIALLY those who have ghost lines. It is a base price for the amount of data, all plans automatically have unlimited talk and text. You pay per data package depending on what you think you and whoever is on your plan would need and then a price for each smart phone. For example:
(these are made up but show what it will look like)
4GB=90 plus a &20 charge for each smartphone...its like verizons pretty much...
so a person with four lines and only two smartphones is only looking at a $130+tax charge a month instead of $180...good stuff from at&t
should save people money
Posted this in xda general but wanted to share with my note peeps too :laugh::good: <3
If I remember correctly its more then 20 to add a smart phone. I think it was more like 40 - 35 depending on which plan you chose. It went down the higher the plan you choose. Unfortunately, won't be saving any money for my situation.

Alright, my wife and I have an older plan still. I have the Note and she has the Iphone 4s. Right now are monthly bill (if there are no extras) is about $123 a month. That's 700 minutes/200 text each/250mb data each. We've had AT&T for a while so we have some old options.
I'd like to have unlimted text and higher data (1GB would be plenty for me), so in the end is it worth updating to this shared package? I think the basic package ends up being 130+tax? Am I correct?
With a gig to share and two smart phones with unlimited text and call we are looking at 130$ which isn't bad because you get lot more out of it for $7

whats a "ghost line"?
I dont understand the prices. Some places say that the additional cost for smart phones is for the 2nd+ phone on the plan, but some places it says each smart phone.
If its 30 for each phone, going for the 10gb plan with 2 smart phones would put me at $180 before taxes. I currently spend $180~ for a 2gb and unlimited data plans.
If its 30 for the 2nd phone then I could actually save money since I rarely go over 4-5gb these days and my wife uses almost nothing. I could even add my ipad2 and only spend $160 per month. I dont know if I want to give up my unlimited tho.

Sounds cool... I called AT&T after reading this to verify to what I saw on their site HERE and I was told late August this should be available. Currently I pay $302 for 5 smart phones on AT&T with the family plan with limited minutes. With this new plan I will be able to save another $20 a month and not have to share minutes at all. The down side is that I would have a lower limit on my data. I now have 3GB per line and the plan that would help me is the $120 plan that allows us all to share 10GB which is 2GB a piece on average. But I'm sure that will be ok though.
I am disappointed. I have a wife and a teenage daughter. Was hoping the share plan would be a little more reasonable to get the daughter and the wife some more data. Not swaying me from giving up my unlimited plan though.

So you pay an extra $10 for each phone and maintain 2 data plans just to sell 2 extra smart phones per year?
Thats $60 per month more ($660 per year) and then $200-300 per upgrade so essentially you buying an extra 2 smart phones per year for $530-630 each and reselling them?
This doesnt make sense unless your able to use 2 dumb phones in their place to eliminate the data plans. Does AT&T allow that?

I've honestly not had time to tether yet. I have hit 51gb of data though this month already with my uploads and downloads of ROMs tools and mods. :good:

wow 51gb of data in a partial month? Dude that's obnoxious and ridiculous. That is the reason unlimited data went away for some people... ever think of using wifi once in awhile? I'm glad you feel proud of yourself enough to feel the need to brag about it.

meh... i just needed to get that off my chest. I mean i stream music for about 1-2 hours a day and maybe :30 to 1:00 of YouTube a day and probably watch a couple movies a month with a few TV show eps and i don't usually go above 4gb monthly usage. That's just when I'm away from home. The rest of the time I'm on my home Wifi. People like that are trying to use that much data.

Wrong. Verizon's greed is the reason unlimited went away.

Im proud that I can do work on my ROMs while away from my home's router. Push updates at any moment. Download things to test at will. And never have to worry about going over my limit.
Ever think that I do use Wi-Fi when I'm at home but have no access anywhere else? Ever think I don't use data like a normal user? Ever contemplate the fact that I didn't use any of that 51gb to stream anything?
Go cry to someone else about your inability to keep your unlimited data plan. Nothing you can say is going to make me feel bad.

This. Verizon's leadership would like to thank us all for their fat bonus checks since the change. Ditto for all the campaign contributions paid to certain politicians to keep the 2gb or less average user BS rolling. They used historic data HEAVILY biased with 2g and 2.5g data usage in those numbers. Though not counting recent or forecasted usage based on bigger apps, cloud, HD streaming data (that the carriers are pushing) and devices with no sd cards for storage (the DNA as example had no card for a reason).
Common sense is that 4g with low data caps is absolutely pointless and counter intuitive to the premise of usage. Just a few HD YouTube or less than two movies bust past a 2gb cap. They LOVE it when our kids bust past the caps "by accident" and we pay $10 more increments. Why do you think Verizon does not set up an allocation lock down option as standard, for account holders so they can prevent this from happening? Surely you do not think they think the warning texts we get are the best solution to avoid cap busts. Their bonus system depends on cap busting. Feel the burn! Yowsa!
Sorry, but I have corporate friends with VZW and that is where I get insight from. I am in business too, so understand their practice. From a cold business side, bravo, but as a consumer, it sucks real bad.
Added: Until consumers push pack, we shall remain perpetually screwed. Heck, even some broad band providers do relatively low caps. Good luck with them PS4 and especially Xbox One consoles with broadband data caps. Yikes.
I still have my unlimited data. You missed the point. It's lost on you
Verizon tries to exploit its consumers, and consumers likewise will exploit Verizon in a similar manner. If someone has unlimited data, they should use it completely (hell they should even tether their entire house). Exploiting a business is the job of the consumer and vice-versa. Telling someone they should use less data on their unlimited plan is stupidity. You would only be helping out Verizon; consumers should never help out a business, especially one that persistently tries to scam its customers.

Also, I'm not trying to exploit anything. I'm actively working on projects that require downloads and uploads. I have unlimited data. And there is no reason to sip what I have. Next month I may only use <1gb. It depends entirely on what I'm working on.
I'm not really even sure why I'm trying to justify my usage. Im out.

Htc one max q4: snapdragon 800, 3200 mah, 2gb ram, 1080p, 5.9". Is anyone else drooling over this? My girlfriend's dad recently said I could add a line on their at&t account (suck it Verizon) and this means I actually get phones before they're outdated...

At&t sucks bad bro! They don't even have 4G speeds. Its really 3G+ speeds. False advertisement! Call service is horrible. Stick with Verizon.

Like in one city? Lol. Its all about coverage area and Verizon is hands down the best. Sure if you lived in on if the "30 cities" that have the faster LTE speeds (At&t fact) great. But other than that it's 3G+ speeds.

Theyir coverage is good. Verizon is better. But atat gets phones MONTHS before Verizon and they're not a greedy blood sucking corporation...as much. Verizon has $30 activation fees and you lose your unlimited data if you don't purchase a phone directly from their store.

Art has the same two issues. They also charge an upgrade fee and you lose your unlimited if you renew

Thats why I have 4 lines with Verizon. 2 unlimited data lines and 2 non-smartphone lines that are offset by a year so I can upgrade every year while keeping unlimited.

That is pricey!
Its actually not. I have a corporate 21% discount because I'm a government contractor. 25% off accessories is awesome too! I only pay about $170 a month.

I have to say I'm curious. Not sure when I can afford it but if they can get their own s pen I'd definitely consider it. I'd that processor a quad or more?

It's quad. Very powerful. Hopefully development will be good. If it's like the Dna it might take 4-6 months...

Well the way it got locked down was a big part of the slower beginning in development, if they lock the max down as bad, its a deal breaker for me, I'll go back to pure open GSM devices.

Well I was lucky, they got my DNA to me before facepalm, so I was rooted and unlocked the whole time and s-off like a day after facepalm was released. I waited a day to see what issues are common before doing it lol. I'd be happy to work with the one max, certainly, but there's no guarantee it'll be unlockable, ever, or s-off, ever, or that I'll get one, ever lol

Same thing the AT&T guy told me. Then did a speed test at 42Mbs down and I did one on Verizon and hit 73Mbs down. Slowest I seen in my area was 38Mbs down. Never seen T mobile, Sprint or AT&T come close here. Only reason I still use them because I tether my computer and love the speed.
Now between the max and g2 I'll rock the g2. The max looks pretty sad. Specs are what I will expect of new phones and the battery for a phone that big is tiny. I mean if Motorola made it they would figure out a way to slap a 4,200mah battery in it and make that phone the same size as the max.
Give me induction charging. No reason every phone should not have this now unless its a iPhone. Iean the maxx looks nice its just not maxx on the battery. Also give us some 1200p now.
Can't wait to see the carbon 6 inch monster Motorola sends out in a response to the maxx and note 3. Come on 4,000mah+ battery.

What does a phones religion have to do with its battery capacity?

Or, if like the One, its aluminum, or any aluminum bodied phone, very big reason every phone can't have it now.
And I don't use it anyways, so its just adding weight and thickness for no reason for me.

Lol ment new.
Yeah but if you set it up you can have it on a ALU. Body phone and the recover and coil is pretty much no weight at all. On a verizion phone we can just not let them brand it and save 2oz's in weight from Verizon logos and paint.
Also induction charging may seem meh until your USB port goes out and you have no insurance and your warranty is out lol.

Yeah I figured it was typo, just messing with you.
It doesn't seem meh to me, I just don't have money to buy the stuff for it, so a phone with it doesn't matter to me, I'm more concerned with thickness then wireless charging. I know its like a millimeter lol. And I've never had a charging port break, ever. I'm very careful with my devices, and this goes triple for charging ports for obvious reasons.
