Has anyone else had any issues with Dolphin? I tried using it to fill out my Sony registration and it absolutely went haywire.
It started out freezing and then it would unfreeze and move very glitchily for 5 seconds. Then finally the screen would go completely haywire and show nothing but white and light gray lines. It only affected the app itself, the actual nav bar was fine just the app screen was wonky as hell.
Has anyone else experienced this? I have tried clearing all app data, not that there was any cause that was the first time I opened it, and I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Nothing I did made it work.

I got 8.5.1 version only because I want to have flash and mine crashes like crazy but I believe it is totally Dolphin's fault. It crashes on my Droid RAZR HD as well... I've heard people had more luck with Firefox, which I had no time to play with yet so can't tell you. The solution to it - get something that will work for you. There are plenty browsers to choose from.

Adobe Flash Player was re-enabled in Dolphin Browser version 10.0.0, so I recommend you update. After updating, go into Dolphin's Settings > Web Content and set Flash Player to "Always On" (my preference) or "On Demand". I also recommend you have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player (currently 11.1.115.69) installed. You can download it from Adobe's Archived Flash Player Versions web page. Search for the list titled "Flash Player for Android 4.0 archives" to find and download it to your device and install it. You can ignore that it says "for Android 4.0", it will also run on Android 4.1.x. You can test that Flash Player is working in Dolphin by going to Adobe's Find Version web page.
I have both Dolphin and Dolphin Beta in latest version, it is the best browser that I can use on my TXZ/XZ. I like mozilla but I can't use FF or FF Beta on my devices, always crash and can't load a page, it's stuck loading and nothing happens!
I believe the v.10 looks nice but... I still prefer to use 8.5.1... more stable than 10 to me. At least when watching South Park during commercials it freezes. V10 is not a good product.

check out Mikan Broswer from Cythia Project.
a browser that allow you to do a lot of customization.
i tried stock broswer, chrome, dolphin, dolphin HD, firefox, and many other browser and Mikan gives me the best user experience.
although you might need to setup all the short-cuts and buttons yourself in the beginning.
some features i liked (needed).
1. open offline "html" files
2. decided URL bar to shown at top or bottom, and add buttons on this bar
3. decided tab bar to shown at top or bottom, and add buttons on this bar
4. set font size of the browser UI, make it finger friendly, or even big thumb friendly
5. open URL directly using quick control.
6. add short-cut to other apps in browser (save click needed to move from browser-home-apps)
7. change web-site text size on the go.
8. invert rending - (avoiding the glare of a while background)
let me know your comment if you decided to try this out.

I'm with you there with 8.5.1 looking better, it also didn't have a damn Hot Apps icon.
Either way I tried 10.0.0, 10.0.1, and 8.5.1 and they all acted the same way. I really hate this. Dolphin is my preferred browser mainly because of how the tabs work, it has added Flash back, there are plugins (although I would like a browser with quite a few more plugins), the speed dial (because the icons are small, those big ass shortcut like FF has icons drive me insane), being able to have categories in Bookmarks, and a few other odds and ends. I haven't found one that really fits yet, I can do without plugins but the others are a must have for me.

I finally got the progress bar to recompile correctly. So here this is:
CWM Update Zips
View attachment BrowserClean.zip
View attachment BrowserCleanChromeIcon.zip (Chrome Icon)
Changes
-Default Home switched to google
-Removed all default bookmarks
-Added Google as a default Bookmark
-Google Keyword Redirects (No vzw/bing)
-Appearance of Fascinate Browser (No grey URL bar, No cyan/black bar below Title Bar during loading)
-removed some really random strings/pngs for CNN and Facebook.
Install:
-Install Via CWM. (Added script to delete browser.odex)
or
-Place apk into /system/app/, if the browser.odex is still there, delete it, and reboot.
Additional
-To get rid of the hard coded bookmarks, you may need to clear the browser cache. This will delete any bookmarks you have.
Thanks adrynalyne for the initial CWM update.zip

Browser Icon is now a Google Chrome Icon which is a very nice touch. The downside for me is that the annoying bookmarks are still on my system (myvzw, etc). Everything else seems to be working as expected for a 2.1 browser (did I mention I miss real flash a lot more than I thought I would?)

1.) Ooops. I had changed the Icon as a personal touch. I intended to upload one with the original icon. And will if anyone asks.
2.) You should be able to get rid of the vzw icons if you clear browser cache. Only thing is, if you had any other bookmarks, you'll have to set them again.
installed browser2.zip via cwm
-redirects to vzw/bing
-remove/rename browser.odex in system/app/ results in browser opening in blank white screen, then fc
What am I missing?
-Try rebooting after renaming/removing the browser.odex.
-If that fails wipe data-dalvik cache
Thanks, reboot did the trick. What exactly does wiping the data-dalvik cache do?
Also, I was sort of hoping it would restore voice search by google to the long press search button. There's a way to do this, isn't there?
How can I change the browser icon back to stock? Hate the Chrome icon.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, that was an unintentional part of the release.
you can replace the res/drawable_hdpi/ic_browser_laucher.png in the apk. (not sure on the exact path, but that should be real close)
I'll put another one out after i finish with backups on my phone.

1.) The reason I would have had you wiping dalvik-cache was to let your system re-associate what *.odex it has on. I'm not too familiar with this level of programming so I can't tell you much more.
2.) I can't find a thread for that right now. But there is an enhanced google search apk floating around. You'll need to install that along with removing the bing/microsoft apk
CWM install script for BrowserClean.zip didn't work so I had to manually install but it's working fine. Thanks for your work!

The problem happens when you try to view a part of the page that has not been loaded yet, if you have a fast network connection you will barely notice it !
run www.speedtest.net on your phone
It's not a loading issue, it's a rendering issue.
I agree, it's very annoying -- I presume Samsung have done it so that scrolling is super-smooth and rendering is done on a best-effort basis, but I'd rather it rendered the page as fast as it can and slowed down scrolling if necessary on complex pages.

so it happens even after the page is fully loaded, that stinks. it may have something to do with the browsser being hardware accelerated, while all other android phones have browser rendered entirely by the CPU for al content.
maybe some implementation of the way samsung did this is causing the issue?
so after fully loaded, can you scroll faster than the web page can be rendered, meaning it cant keep up with itself?

Probably not with Samsung's browser. You could try another browser like Opera Mobile though as that doesn't have any checkerboarding.

its obviously that Samsung has modified the browser to make it feel much smoother than other Android device and it looks like they've followed iphone steps in that, by doing the checkers to avoid rendering non-visible parts of the page.
and lastly, the browser is not hardware accelerated as other people think. Hardware acceleration will probably be implemented in Android's next release (Ice Cream Sandwich)
Checkerboarding maintains framerate.. I'm all for it since I cringe every time I see a phone drop to lower double digit frames/second.

Good question,
I'll test for you now. I just thought, why not just use the iPlayer app? Gives you the option to stream at HQ (800KBPS) which on my WIFI, looks great.
Update: Just tested it in the browser, and it's as smooth as the APP. I'd say perfect framerate, apart from the odd jump here or there, but that may be due to connection as my WIFI is only on 1 bar in this room.
So good news

Thanks for the video but the issue isn't what you've addressed. On the SGS which I still own, if you zoom in further after the initial double tap (which reflows) it should reflow again using the text size you zoomed into. To describe in steps
1) Open website in overview like XDA
2) Double tap to zoom in and it reflows - this is as far as you demonstrated
3) Increase zoom by pinching for example to to the maximum zoom level
4) Double tap and it should reflow with the font still at the maximum zoom level.
The SG2 fails to execute the 4th step, instead it reverts back to the initial overview page. A workaround to achieve step 4 is to switch the phone to landscape then back to portrait mode after step 3, but that's not how it's meant to work.
Hope this clarifies what the problem is.

Maybe I'm just slow but I've noticed a few apps built into this phone that are hidden from the Sense launcher but not when I use the AOSP gingerbread launcher. I've seen Fb Chat, Quick lookup, car mode, mirror, and I'm sure there are others. Does anyone know why these can't be accessed from the Sense launcher? It seems really weird to me haha.
You can access some apps like mirror and car panel if you hit the bottom right search button from any screen and type "mirror", for example. You can then tap on the app there. I believe facebook chat is only available as a widget...
Is there a list of these hidden apps or apps not seen by sense?
I don't know... Good question. It would be great if someone can post them here. I wonder what other goodies they are hiding.

Just do a search in your phone for 'Chat' and you find Fb Chat.
Fb Chat comes up. Open it.
Winning.
The only other one that I saw not mentioned was "SIM Toolkit." When I tried to run it, a message popped up, stating that "SIM Toolkit is not ready."
I have noticed that in both ADWLauncher EX and Launcher Pro Plus, you can put a kinda cool camcorder icon on your home screen but it doesn't show in Sense.

I'm still looking for the answer to this. I just hit search, type fb, and open it.
Then to go back into it, just pull down the notification bar, and tap it again when I need.
I don't even know how to make sure it stays in memory!
The Fb Chat widget put my phone into an infinite bootloop and I had to reset my phone. So I'm not using that thing again.

Has anyone else experienced an issue with Themer where you select the drawer icon or the games icon, etc and it either takes 5 seconds to respond or it takes a second tap (or third) to make it finally appear? In fact, none of the "widgets" respond. Double tapping will immediately bring up the menu, so it's responding to that. It seems as if the widgets stop responding after awhile. Other times, it might take a tap and then another tap a few seconds later for the widgets to respond.
I've also had it where it just doesn't respond at all. A reboot doesn't seem to help. But, if I change themes, then it appears to fix the issue for about a day.
I've uninstalled Themer and reinistalled it and that seems to help for a day or two, but then the problem persists.
I also notice it appears to happen more frequently if I modify a theme and add my own widgets.
Not sure what the issue is and I do understand it's beta. I love this app and hopefully, this issue can get fixed?
I am running it on an unlocked and rooted RAZR HD running the Nexesque 3.6 ROM.
Thanks!
Yep getting same error here too using latest version and again it is frustrating, removing all themer files and uninstalling does not cure it.I also have another error here see attached, when this happens I get the old ghost image of an earlier version, again reinstall/reboot does not clear it
updated to latest version and now the problem is not there anymore, try updating your version now m8 see if it corrects for you

After posting my find, that's what I had decided. I went ahead and uninstalled Themer and reinistalled it going back to defaults.
There still was a lag sometimes. With the latest update, it doesn't seem as bad. At least, I haven't had an issue where it completely hangs and freezes.
This is still my daily homescreen driver. Sticking with it.
Well, upon further review, the lag between selecting a widget and it actually responding has surfaced again with the latest update.
I hope this can be rectified soon. It's a little aggravating to select say the "games" widget and then having to wait 5 seconds or else, hitting it multiple times before it responds.
Not sure what the issue is. Wish I could be more helpful, but that's all I can say.
Thanks!

It gets so bad it makes the phone almost unusable. I have to revert back to my standard homescreen. On my "standard" setup I have very little lag and only once in a while. I used quotes because I am running a Razr HD, rooted but locked BL, safestrap with Batakang ROM. ICS 4.1.1
Is it because we are on custom ROM's?

Hi,
Please try this method, as it should help fix the issue:
1. Uninstall Themer.
2. Delete the /sdcard/MyColorScreen/ folder (removing the Exported folder within it if you saved any themes).
3. Reinstall Themer.
If you still have lag issues, let us know!
