Format internal sd card question - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

I'm currently using twrp with the eclipse rom. If I flash cwm then format my internal sd card, then flash back the rom, will I be gtg? Just wondering if I lose root or recovery by formatting the internal sd card. Thanks in advance!

Anyone?

You will not lose root, but you should NOT format your internal SD card, unless on the stock rom. Formatting the internal SD caused a boot loop for many S4 users on custom roms, including me, and the only solution is to ODIN back to stock. There is really no need to format your internal SD. If you don't have enough memory, just see what is taking up the space and delete it manually. If you want a squeaky clean slate, make sure you know how to ODIN to stock first.
Also know that after you ODIN back to stock you WILL need to root again.
Hope this helped.

Thank you for your reply and yes it had clarified. I'm looking to format to clean up all of the framework/mod/extra installs that I have done between roms. I know to Odin back to stock and all of that. Thanks again!

I'm getting the mounting error on my internal SD card now.wont let me transfer files or music over without that dam mounting error. Tried everything.problem is I can't get the mountingfix to flash now using Rom Manager. Wont work.think its because its for e2 recovery and I'm now using e3 recovery. Someone please help me out.I'm about to loose my mind. I'm stressed to the breaking point. I lost my dad on Tuesday night from cancer. I'm trying to take my mind off it by using my phone for music and videos.so please help me out.thanks a million friends!

I am trying to flash the mountingfix.zip file by putting it onto my internal sd. Upon reboot into Android system recovery 3e, and choosing "reinstall packages."
I get the following problem:
E:failed to open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Any fix for this issue please!

You can try pushing the file with adb and be sure of the directory, also it's case sensitive. And have you full formatted the sdcard to fat32?
I'm sorry, I know how it feels to lose someone close to you.

Just tried reformatting it through system recovering and also the SD card setting.didn't do fat32. And why do almost all the froyo Rom's have that mounting error. Even the T-Mobile froyo Rom has that issue. And yea i was close to my dad.

How would I reformat the internal SD card with fat32? That's the one I'm having issues with.the external SD card started work.so now i just need the internal one to work!

Can't you fastboot flash the e2 recovery and try again? Or try another sdcard to see if the card is the problem or not. I know you're probably not that a rookie with this stuff but sometimes you can forget some simple solutions.

I need to get back to e2 recovery or make the internal SD card work. Any ideas. Shh driving me nuts

What kernel are you running? I had that same error when I ran eugene super kernel. Try a diff kernel. Also can you copy it.to your external then move it to your internal thru your phone. I had to do it that way on axura 2.1. Im sorry for loss bro. Ill keep you in my prayers.

First of all, I am very sorry for your loss.
I think that the problem may not be your sd. I think it's a problem with Clockwork. Check out this thread and see if it helps.
HOLY SH-T
this just happened to me too haha!
I was trying to get into ClockWork, by clicking reinstall packages, it said the same error as yours because i deleted the update.zip which you probably did...
Here's what i did to fix, on ROM Manager, i clicked INSTALL CLOCKWORK RECOVERY
and the update.zip appeared on my SD and it started working again.
Sorry about your dad.
Is this going to fix my internal SD card issue? How do I fix this issue without using the mountingfix.zip? I'm now using e3 recovery not e2 so wont let me install any update.zip file. Using Rom manager. Can't get clockwork recovery to work with my Stock Leaked Froyo Rom. So how do i fix this issue. Not looking to flash a new Rom just want my internal memory card to work right! Thanks a million

Get rid of all unnecessary folders on internal storage

Hi everyone. After months and months of having my Vibrant, I would like to do a little housecleaning. I've already ODIN'd back to stock (I plan on flashing Nero afterwards). I was hoping that using odin would clear all extra files and folders off my internal memory that are not vital to the operation of the phone. Does anyone know how I can go about achieving this?
Thanks
if you odin back to stock and check the repartition, that will erase everything and reload the stock original software, nothing more, Everything that was on the internal sd card will be erased. So you should backup what you want to save
Hope that helps

I tried that, and it didn't remove anything.
You have to unmount internal sdcard and format...

Thanks a bunch, worked perfectly
Settings> sd card and phone storage > format. It will DELETE EVERYTHING of sd card and internal so back up anything important
(Edit)
Didn't see that question was answered already

Emmc memory cannot be read on computer.

It looks like I accidentally formatted my emmc memory and it cannot be seen by my computer. Does anyone know how to manually formatting it to make it functional again? I restored to a factory rom and back to aokp. I can see the memory and add files to it but music app cannot access internal drive. I get two drives in my computer but can only access SD card when I enable memory access. Any help on this will be awesome.

This isn't helpful I know but I thought id let you know this does not really belong in development thread. Just letting you know why no one is gonna help. People are crazy

Ill try to be of some help. I'd try reflashing your rom from an external SD card. No guarantees as I've not run into this problem, but it's worth a try.

No luck. I can't use my emmc memory. 8 gig SD is still ok
Here is what I did to fix it...
1) Made a nandroid backup of my RevoHD 6 setup
2) Wipe Data/Factory Reset
3) Wipe Dalvik and Cahche
4) Format EMMC
I then restored from another nandroid backup that I had loaded and I can now open my EMMC from windows computer!

need info

hi all can somebody direct me to modding the sgs3 as i am doing it for a friend need some steps like do i have to unlock bootloader before i root and stuff i am using hox so new to sgs3
Galaxy S3 has an unlocked bootloader, use CF-root to root it. The GS3 also uses a flash counter, if you root or flash a custom rom it will trip the flash counter, and unless it's reset with triangle away even if you reflash stock you may not be able to claim warranty.
Check out the development section for some mods (there is also a sticky in the general with some mods, and roms.)
No, Sammy bootloaders aren't locked (except verizons b*stard child S3)
Flash cf-root 6.4 via odin and you are rooted and have recovery.

soft brick please help with firmware i can flash through odin
Just go into recovery and wipe data/factory reset.
Get into recovery by holding vol up + home + power.
Try that first.

tryed it need to put a rom onto the internal memory but it not letting me mount sd to comp
And how did you delete your system?
It should boot after doing a wipe, unless you formatted your system partition.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
think i formatted system via super wipe for arhd
Christ sake, another person f*cking themselves up because of that script.
Why didn't you follow the instructions properly? Especially the part where it says put the ROM you want to flash on the external SD?
You need to boot into download mode and flash a firmware via Odin.
Sammobile.com is where you need to go now.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
am going to try put arhd on a extern sd and try flash that way will that work n i didnt put it onto exsd because i have arhd on my hox so didnt think to do that as i said doing for a friend
Ya put it on the external SD and flash from there.
Superwipe wipes internal storage, which is retarded, but that's how that dev does it.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
How did that dev not see this coming with the useless super wipe. But yeah put a Rom on your ext sd send flash. Or flash a stock rom through Odin and start again.

That's because hox has no external SD so wiping internal SD would cause this problem every time someone used that pointless script.
Its an absolute joke of a script, it shouldn't touch the internal storage.

Returning to stock ics from cm10.2

After trying cm10.2 I decided to go back to ICS, it appears that I now have two lots of directories some in root and others in 0 directory.
Is there a way I can use Odin to reformat and put all back in its place? Di I need a PID file to repartition back to ICS partitions.

No, your SD card is messed up due to the jb 4.2+ file system. If you don't wanna waste time moving them to the correct places, backup what you need to your computer and format your SD card in cwm recovery. If you do not want to format, then move all your files out of the /0 folder to /data/media(which is the SD card partition), i.e. /data/media/0/blabla to /data/media/blabla.

Thannks for your help. I ended up formating all, using Odin to reflash stock, reinstalled root and cwm then used my previus backup.
Thanks for your quick response.
