maybe u r nt connecing it properly..
proper method is to shut off phone... remove usb...
now select the ftf file in flashtool and click flash... when flashtool ask to connect phone in flashmode... press vol down of phone and connect it to usb..
also win 8 requires u to first disable driver verification check n install drivers
I heard windows 8 does not work well with the adb drivers.....

So is your flashing operation goes succesful even with this problem?
Because I am afraid that I would start the Flashing then the phone may get bricked if will be disconnected during the operation!

No, the phone stays in flash mode when it is flashed, if it's just connected then it lgoes off flash mode after a while.
Anyway the instructions are to connect in flash mode only when asked for, maybe that's the reason for it.
Well my xp Windows will crash if I don't plug-in the phone when asked so...

Using windows 8 for doing flashing stuffs will bring pain in the ass.
I myself had Win 8.1 on my laptop installed and I was not able to do any kind of flashing even though by some means I had installed the drivers.
Today switched back to Win 7.

Try installing the flash tool again, and make sure you install the driver package in driver folder under flashtool directory. Also while installing the driver package make sure you select your phone model number and also select the fastboot and flashmode drivers
That is what I exactly do..
As I'm using flashtool and do moding from last 8-9 months, So I guess I do every step properly.. btw any other advice??
Go to device manager, uninstall pre-existing drivers named Android ADB Device etc and then try.

7) Accept all window permissions that windows will ask you for installing drivers manually... this will take time like 8-10min

Please follow the instructions :
1.Turn off the phone
[Do not connect it to the computer]
2.Open flashtool and select flashmode
3.Select the firmware and click flash.
4.Connect your phone when the screen shows the prompt with the diagrams
[By pressing volume down ,don't release the button]
5.If everything goes well the flashing will proceed.
The sequence of steps is important.I softbricked my friend's XU by following the wrong sequence(Stuck at Bootlogo and led flashes once when you try to connect in flash or fastboot mode).Following the correct sequence unbricked it....

So here what u should do
Switch off phone
Keep it aside
Select kernel.ftf to flash in flashtool
Flashtool will ask u to connect phone in flashmode
Just press the volume down button (phone should b pff) of ur phone pressed and attach to usb
Try to restart Flashtool with your device already plugged in with USB Debugging on.
Sometimes happen with me. I just restart Flashtool and it detects it.

good evening, i need some helps about the flastool using usb debug....
last night i intended to flash my a690 using another firmware that is s319. my reason was about to upgrade it to ics.
then i follow the instructions for flashing a690 using flashtool. it was succeed, i turn on the phone.... so the problem appeared, my phone can't login, even bootloop just in blank screen.
then i decided to back it firmware to stock rooom using flastool again.....and this information of error appeared.
i tried almost 3 hours by using another firmware but it wasn't succeed. i thought the error appeared because of the usb debug didn't click it.
so if there is anyone knew about this issued, please help me what should i do??
the first mistake that i had made so far was using another firmware fo my lenovo.

Hi all, if anyone is having trouble flashing with flash tool because usb debugging isn't enabled error then do this procedure.......
1. Dowload latest flash tool 0.9.18.8 and also version 0.6.6
2. Try use the latest version first to Flash the tft rom. NOTE: remember the file it has error flashing e.g on my experia sp file system.sin was not able to Flash bcoz usb debugging error (enable usb debugging and unknown sources) ALL THE REST of the files flashed ok!
3.try flash again the rom but this time tick system.sin (or error file) in flashtool to exclude it from flashing. Make sure all other files are included. Also tick all wipe caches options and flash rom without system.sin (or error file).
4. Flash procedure will work. Now disconnect phone and leave it off without restarting it.
5. Uninstall flashtool latest version 0.9.18.8 and install flashtool 0.6.6 old version and open it to Flash the same rom BUT THIS TIME only select the system.sin file (or error file) to be flashed and rest excluded. Make sure all wipe options in flashtool are enabled and Flash! THE FLASH WILL WORK WITHOUT USB DEBUGGING ERROR and your phone will be fixed!
Press thanks if it helped!

You should download and install the latest version of Flashtool and it's drivers, connect your phone in Flashmode and then relock the bootloader.
Alternatively, you could just flash a stock FTF in Flashtool and fix whatever is wrong with your phone.

Yea try to flash stock ftf file via flashtool.
Sent from my ST27i using xda app-developers app
I bricked my phone. I had my phone rooted and installed a modified rom based on .89 compilation. I wanted to change to one based on the 100, and after install it I lost install this kernel root. Then I tried to root the phone again but the flashtool did not recognize the phone. I was advised to do so through the Fasttool and I did. I installed the drivers for fastboot and then I did:
fastboot flash boot boot.img (boot.img was along with the rest of fastboot files). After "fastboot reboot" and the phone was shut down and no longer has reignited.
Now the only thing that appears is a green light turns off immediately and nothing else. The flashtool still do not acknowledge either the computer now.
Can you help?
Try to flash stock firmware again if flashtools doesn't recognize the phone try to restart your pc after install the driver. I have this problem before .and it still connect 2 flash mode. If that doesn't work try on another pc

Take the battery out for a minute and try flash mode or fastboot mode again.
Do not just plig it to the PC before you do.
