OOPS - HTC Desire X

I sent my phone in for repair and factory reset it but i forgot when my old memory card filled up it put some pics on the phone and i forgot to move them to the new one so they got wiped i know with hard drives you can recover lost files but can this be done with a phone
Thanks

I'm pretty sure you can but it's not cheap, next time stick all your files on Dropbox so you've got a backup

I don't think you can recover as they replaced the motherboard then it will have a new memory chip too.

If you have TWRP installed, you can mount emmc in recovery and it will show as removable disk on PC and use any recovery program to scan... my favorite software is Zero Assumption Recovery
Just like what I tried just now... it recovered some images files in my internal memory

Which part ? The TWRP ? Maybe this screenshots can help you.
Boot to recovery, select "Mount" then no.1, then no.2 select emmc then no.3 you should see emmc there and no.4 to mount it to PC. So you should have a Removable disk of 1.09GB mounted on PC now. Then run the Image recovery program and follow its instructions

Nothing much that I can help now ... try again to flash recovery... use the 2.5.0.0 version as shown on the screenshot. There are three of them, can't remember which one but not the one with Aroma FM

Boot / rescue bricked phone (dead bootloader) from microSD

Hi all,
I've bricked my phone and reanalyzing my wrongdoings it seems that I killed the bootloader partition. According to Odia's thread, phones, that have never been romflashed before do not have a backup bootloader.
The million (or at least 400) $ question is, that is it possible to boot/flash from MicroSD? If I hook up a JIG, does the phone starts to seek for any bootloader available, or it only looks at the dedicated partitions?
I did some additional research, the JIG specifications say, that a "standard" 301kOhm USB JIG puts the booting procedure in "Factory mode 1", but i found no more infos.
Does this "Factory mode 1" mean that the device looks for bootloaders on all partitions, incl microSD?
What should be on the microSD and how should it be formatted?
Micro SD card is FAT 32 .
Its empty until you put videos etc on it .
jje
I know it's normally FAT. Question is if I want to boot from it, shall I leave the FAT? probably yes...
An other question is what to put on the SD to make it bootable?

Exactly, that would be the goal (and to resurrect my phone from the dead).
I take it you can't enter into download mode?
It was my understanding that a jig would just allow you to reflash using ODIN. Surely if you flashing using that a repartioned then all would be fine?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
You should look into the captivate forums. There was a guy over there (I think his name was adam??) that was looking into jtag possibilities. That may be your best bet. With the original jig working on our phones, there is a very good likelihood the jtag will too.
I remember it was posted on the main page too

That's the first part of the problem (no download mode), the other thing is, that most likely i have no secondary bootloader=a jig alone is not enough, I need to feed in a bootloader as well. Here I am stuck, because I don't know, how to provide the bootloader to the phone.
Anyone has got any update to this? I think I have a dead baby!
Finally I ended up sending the phone to the local repair center, lucky me they replaced the motherboard eek for free, under warranty.

I wanted to format the microSD to EXT2 in commandline - instead I formatted the partition containing the bootloader. (and there was no secondary one, because I hadn't flash any ROM before.) - [email protected] happens
Important question: was your phone rooted? Just curious because you used warranty.

Only on filesystem level, i.e. when mounted.
If you run as root you can mash around in the block devices (=the partitions) at will.
In normal user mode it should block access though, haven't tested....

[Q] Small Problem Concerning Corrpted Internal Storage.

Hello everyone,
I had previously rooted my original evo a while back and recently got the new evo lte, and thought "Oh I can root this all by myself." Big mistake
Okay, so, I made sure to unlock it using the HTC dev. Then downloaded Rom Manager and tried to put the new cm10 rom but for some reason it was coming up with sd errors. So, I looked up what could possibly be the cause behind that, which I thought was the previous Rom Manager data from the old evo. So I deleted it and well had the same problem. I also made sure to do the Hboot fastboot thing too.
Then I download the TWRP recovery and things took a turn for the worst. Now my external/internal storage is unreadable to twrp, ironically so, I can still use the USB for the sd.
I tried other roms, but it won't load them
Now, my os is gone and I just don't know what to do. At very least I can still use fastboot, but I really just unsure how I can well make it work.
so stat wise it says
tampered/unlocked
S-ON RL
Hboot 1.15
Radio 1.05.11.0606
OpenDSP-v25. 1.032.0405
I am also running a mac.
So, if anyone can set me in the right direction, that would be super.
For one reason or another some users have problems flashing cmx and corrupting internal. Boot to twrp and mount as USB then format it in OSX.

Thank you for replying. So I want to mount the internal storage and format it in Fat32?
Also, when I go to the mounting menu, it will not let me press "Mount Internal".
However, I can mount internal storage using USB storage method, I don't get it...
Selecting mount as usb storage is all you need to do, at the very least you should be able to do that, then format, fat 32 is the default so there is no need to specify fat 32
Format the top one, correct?
Sorry for the late reply, that should be it
No, Thank you.
So, I did reformat. It still cannot find the internal storage/SD storage.
So, can I push RUU through fastboot to return it to a functional state. All this for Jellybean, haha
I had almost the same thing happen to me over the weekend for the first time. I was about to reformat it in twrp and that worked great for me. So give that a try before you run a ruu

swap internal/external links

I'm coming into this late but I recently experienced corrupted internal storage while running cmx as well. While I could not choose to mount the external storage, I somehow was able to select that bubble when in the restore menu. I restored an old meanrom and it rebuilt the internal storage despite losing the data. Not sure if this info will help you at all, but figured I would share. Good luck.

When I was able to flash a new rom [as I am now unable to really access my sd card] it would install it, however, it would boot past the the splash screen and would go black. I didn't think I had to flash the kernel before hand, perhaps that was my problem.

[Q] Sandisk 64 gb Micro sd card

I just put one in the phone and viewed that under storage it sees it ok. Good sign I guess since I read many people cannot even get phone to read it or see it properly. Does anyone know what if anything I need to do next? I am running Beans build 4 and its own rom. I read that Perseus maybe an issue with this card so I figured not to change roms for now at least.
If you are going to use CWM, you will need to reformat it to FAT32 (it is exfat now)
If not, you are good to go the way it is.

Two things with these cards:
1: back it up religiously, I have had two of them go bad on me.
2: if that procedure for formatting it won't work for you (some versions of windows can't do this by default), then use EaseUS Partition Master. That is a free DL and works super.

I tried this method and it is quick to format the ex fat to fat32. Once you click on the picture the GUI exe file will download to your PC. Click on the exe file and a pic of the drive where your card is located will pop up. Mine was in the g drive make sure you got the right location up and then hit format. In like 5 seconds this thing will reformat your card to fat 32 and "BAMM," your in fat city.

Problem is Bill the only drive this program or any other method I have tried does not see the usb drive. It only see for example the C drive. The only way it see the drive is when I put a very small sized SD card it it. Seems the 64 gb sized card is the maun issue. The card does work in the phone and can at least be seen though.

If you get the red x during the repart it's usually a sign one of the internal partitions could be messed up. Not always the case though. Maybe it's the version you were flashing.
Did you try changing the internal partitions in any way? During the process of SD boot did you use the zip file that had SD boot setup?

Store/install the Games/apps files on the larger part of the memory (IE. SD Card) and have them run from that location.
I know the system apps can't be moved but almost any game or app can be.
I was once able to move them freely but I screwed up my phone and ended up whipping it and starting from scratch. :crying:

Dude... The whole purpose of people moving apps from internal phone storage to an SD Card is to free up space on the internal storage... by moving them to an EXTERNAL SD card (ie removable)
Since these phones don't have an external SD, all you're doing is moving your apps from internal storage to (drum roll please...) Internal Storage!!!
So basically... you're moving an app from the "Program Folders" area to... well... anywhere BUT that folder, but keeping it on the same hard drive. Make sense?

Apparently I am not getting my point across this is the HTC One X+ section right...
There are two sections on the solid state "hard drive" one is referred to as the SD Card which is allocated 50+ gigs the other section is system storage which is only allocated 2+/- Gigs.
Now I want games/apps to install to the SD card section not the system section which it dose by default.
I know this can be done as I mentioned previously I had it configured to do this but I can't remember how nor can I find anything (apps/tutorials) that will get me back to said configuration.
I hope this is a bit clearer.

No mate it doesn't. Unless your rooted you don't even have write access to /system/.
All apps and data will go on the /data/ partition. The "mock" SD card is located in /data/media/ or /data/media/0 which is just a folder on the main /data/ partition.

Sounds like you've done something to your internal storage. Try wiping /cache/

Try going to /data/apps/ and checking if you will find white files that end with .odex
Apps that have that will most probably be the ones affected by that error. The .odex file is created if you have "lucky patcher" installed . If you do not have this app or haven't found any odex files then ignore what I just said.
ANY apps literally ANY apps? Going to Settings > Storage , are you sure its not filled?

Try to wipe all including the data and do factory reset. You are using TWRP right? then goto advance sideload and then adb sideload the rom which u want ... from command prompt.. what you are saying is really not possible....may be you did mess up ur partition since we dont have any physical SD card slot there is just plain 64GB of which 51~55 is usable....Goodluck

I removed the two odex files I found but yet again it made no difference.
I have over 50gigs of free space.
When I screwd up my phone I did a factory wipe and even relocked then unlocked the boot loader literally started from scratch so there should be no issues.

If you asked me its a faulty rom that have no management over app installation. If its a stock rom then yeah factory reset is required.. But its a strange issue nontheless. So its fixed now when doing factory wipe?

I have not done a factory wipe and that is my last resort I had this issue before but I managed to find a fix for it.

when I did the wipe I cleared everything and went back to the Tellus stock RUU (lost all my pictures in the processes dam dropbox) and started over from there.
the first time I changed to the ViperXL+ OS I had the same issue unfortunately I can't remember how I managed to fix it I thought I used Rom Toolbox to set where apps/games installed by default but it says I have to be updated to 2.2+ and I'm only on 2.0.0
So I'm feeling like quit the Dumb A$$ I figured it out after my last post all I had to do in Rom Toolbox is change it from SD card as primary to internal storage as primary and now I can update/Install more apps
Thanks for the help
