Was it a root app or an app that could have modified the system? Do you remember what app it was?
If you installed the rescue back door, you could try to download R5a for your country and installing it in recovery. Also, wipe cache although idk how much that might help.
that app call beats, modifed sound system so it need rooted device.
but i have no installed back door...TT .i have the OTA rom ,now what tools i need?
You have the exact same problem as my device (OTA R5a rooted and installed an app called "Dynamic navbar" and it's now a brick).
Still waiting for solution
You can try to flash the ota in recovery (power+vol - I think), but without the rescue backdoor it might not flash
Edit: Put the OTA on a SD card, put it in the tablet and boot into recovery to flash the OTA

Hi, i want to know how to disable my phone so that when i turn it on, it doesn't load up and remains on the startup logo. How can i do this? The reason is that I want my phone to be inoperable... Please tell me if there are any files in the system folders or something that i can delete or modify to do this.
are u trying to prank someone? lols
nah the company i bought it off screwed me over so i need a problem with it and they'll refund it under warranty... i just need to get a problem with it and this seems perfect
Root and install recovery. Boot into recovery and do a full wipe, system data and cache. Then reboot without flashing new zip and the phone is blank. Even recovery will be gone. This can still be fixed by just flashing firmware with flastool or seus though.

Ok, i have rooted, now where can i get recovery from? and how do i boot up into recovery? and what does 'reboot without flashing new zip' mean? sorry i am new to all this and need help understanding
Hey, this is my first post so be easy!
I rooted my One X a while back and it has been fine and only now I decided to install a ROM.
I went for Cyanogenmod 9 and followed the instructions to install it on my phone.
IT went smoothly and runs okay as far as I can tell apart from Recovery Mode.
Everytime I go to boot into recovery it just starts the phone as usual. It doesn't get stuck on the boot screen or anything, it starts just like normal but it doesn't start in recovery!
I have tried doing to through the Power + Volume Down method and through CLockworkMod app, no luck.
I have also tried to reflash Recovry but it still doesn't start.
This is frustrating as I can't even restore my phone to an earlier backup due to this.
Any ideas??
Cheers!

Sorry for my complete 'noobness' but whats that adb?
Cheers
ADB is short of android debug bridge. It comes with the android sdk.You can google it. Once ypu install the sdk you can google how to set up and use adb. Also don't forget to put ypur phone in debugging mod via Settings> Application>Developmemt

I have tried that, using adb reboot reovery, and it will doesn't load. Just boots the phone like normal. :/
Any other ideas?

Hi,
I have a rooted galaxy S2 on stock with the SuperSU application. I updated the SuperSU application today and when I opened it, it advised me to update the binary. I selected the option to update the binary via CWM (as that's my recovery tool). My phone then tried to reboot but is now stuck on the splash screen, I have access to ODIN mode which currently says CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (1 counts) but no access to CWM.
Please could anyone help? I have a feeling I would need to flash the kernel but am not really sure what the best way to fix this is. If possible I would like to keep all my data intact.
Any help is appreciated
Also apologies if I have posted this to the wrong section.
Thanks

After a few hours of struggling, I managed to get my phone back up and running.
All I did was flash the kernel with a Stock one eg. Philz (as I have stock JB firmware). Once flashed my phone booted up.
However I do have a issue with the SD card now, apps which were installed on my SD card were all greyed out even though I can access the data such as music and films off the card. Slightly strange. I did try mounting and unmounting, as well as reboot and that didn't help.
Considering downloading the apps again and simply moving to SD card and see if that works rather than an uninstall and reinstall.

I had the same problem (bootloop issue) on my Samsung win I8552 and I solved that reinstalling CWM trought ODIN :
1. First be sure USB Debugging is checked in ur device ( Settings>Developer Options>USB Debugging )
2. Extract the Odin file from the zip.
3. Open Odin3 (Run As Administrator).
4. Put your device in download mode. To do so, press Volume Down And Home And Power Button all together and when it vibrates release
Power Button but keep pressing left ones. You should have a triangle with an android janitor while it's saying downloading ..
VOL UP TO CONTINUE...
5. Now connect USB to PC ,you should see a blue rectangle with COM:xx and saying Added. It means that your device is ready to be flashed!
6. Go into the PDA section and select your .tar file.(CWM Recovery)
7. Dont check any option (F.reset time and Auto reboot are checked by default) So just uncheck Auto Reboot.
8. Now click Start.
9. When it's finished, it should say that "Res OK" in Odin..
10. Now remove ur USB and remove ur battery and put it back and power on your phone.
It must work now!
:highfive:

I know this is an old topic, but the recent supersu update caused my phone to get stuck during booting:
The new update came over the playstore, it asked me to update the app. After that it said that the Super User Binary needs to be updated. I chose the option that does the update process in the CWM recovery.
Then this happend:
System shuts down, boots, I see that some kind of black screen gets displayed(softkeys on and the display stays blank), then it reboots and stops the boot on the Galaxy S2 splash screen. Now that I didnt even get to the samsung splash screen I flashed the Apolo Kernel as an tar file through odin
after that I was able to get one step further and was able to get the Samsung splash Screen but the Splash screen keeps on repeating over and over but after that I also had my recovery back.
Now I tried to Install SuperSU 2.16 as zip in the recovery. but the endless samsung screen persited. After that I used the 2.15 Beta file. but this didnt work either.
I also fixed permissions wiped cache & dalvic cache
Why wouldnt my system boot after the first initial update and how can I finally fix the boot "loop"?
Thank you very much guys!

Sorry to repeat myself, reflash your rom (no wipe). You will not lose anything.
It's the easiest way.

If you use TWRP like me and have a recent backup of your system just restore it and it'll fix the boot loop.

thank u very much, this saved me from freaking out. it absolutely worked.
supersu binary reboot problem
first of all, get into recovery mode and copy the rom and gapps files to your internal storage through pc via usb cable.
then wipe the data, and make a clean flash of rom and gapps and reboot system.
I know this method will surely lose our data. but I have not found a solution at that particular instant other than this.
It happened to me.
Hope someone will surely solve this problem.
Thank you chrisXL, came across this thread from a Google search regarding my OnePlus2 using LinageOS after the SuperSU binary update. I simply went to INSTALL in TWRP and didn't use any wipe options. Phone booted right up after that! Thanks!!
Hi Guys, please help me. I flashed my moto g peregrine with the latest lineage os version. After that, i enable the the root option via TWRP with the addonsu.
After that, i downloaded via google store the SuperSU app i it asks to update the binary. I choosed the option via "TWRP" since the other option didn't work. After that, my phone is on bootloop (the symbol of lineage os is moving) and i can't acess to recovery mode.
What i can do?

I have a Sony Xperia Z2 with Existenz mod; and I would really like to access my apps in-phone again if possible, and then deroot and reformat. I tried to do this by deleting the "su" folder through recovery; now my phone is stuck on the boot logo and gets hot and reboots to the logo. I can load the recovery just fine.
How can I fix the situation to get access to my apps firstly?

Okay, since I did stop using ROMs and root I don't know if you can fix this without wiping your data such as photos or downloaded apps
But I can tell you how to fix it
1. You need to download flash tool
2. Download your favorite stock firmware (lollipop or kitkat)
3. Install flashtool and drivers (you can find them in drivers folder inside flash tool folder)
4. Happy flashing
If you need help on how to flash you can PM me

Try to flash supersu trough recovery. Download the flashable zip from chainfire directly and flash it. It should boot if you deleted only that folder.
thank you! I will definitely try that, lets see if this works. I will want to remove the root and factory reset back to default afterwards, the wipe did not seem to remove the mod the last time, any word on how to do that? Thanks either way!

Existenz is a full rom not a mod so it wont get wiped after a factory reset. You will need to flash an ftf (stock firmware) trough flashtool in order to restore your device to factory state. You dont need to check "wipe data" to keep your apps and data but restore all stock aystem files. And if then your phine doesn't boot, flash the ftf again with wipe data checked.

This is a soft boot due to the fact you still have the ability to access recovery and such what i would suggest you do is get factory files and restore phone back to stock and start over this should fix your problem. If you look around XDA you will find the files you will need ODIN being the main tool you will use to flash your phone.

You have flashed a stock firmware with stock bootloader etc. using odin and still stuck in a soft brick ? remember to wipe the phone a rule of thumb i use is to wipe the phone 3 times before i flash and 3 times after i flash. during the first boot up it may take a little time to boot as it must rebuild the cache. I dont think it is a motherboard issue i think you may have just flashed a wrong file that needs to be wiped out before continuing on. i have had this problem in the past with a galaxy s2 when i was developing custom roms for it. it took me a couple of wipes and factory firmware reflashes but i eventually got the phone back in working order. look here for the factory files you will need to re flash your phone with odin ----> https://samsung-firmware.org/model/SM-G925I/ also make sure you are using the latest version of ODIN you will to put your phone in download mode instead of recovery
