I know that there are several old threads related to screen problems, but I can't seem to find anyone who has had the same issue I'm having. Many people have reported black lines, suction cup marks, etc. on the screen, but I have a fuzzy vertical line that is brighter than the rest of the screen. This is a new phone purchased on Ebay and has never been dropped. The line is visible on dark gray screens and is just left of center. Anyone else have anything like this?
Thanks

If this is a larger problem than my display and you hadn't noticed it before, I'm sorry, but does anyone else seem to have a white vertical line going down the left side of the screen, about 1/2 a cm from the left? Its pretty much invisible UNTIL you use something with a white/light background. I noticed on the Twitter app, and just want to find out if its just a general "thing" with the display or a fault just on mine, which I'll get replaced if thats the case.

Sounds like a faulty device, mines fine.
Mine had some weird lines over the screen that changed colour depending on what was being displayed, but they disappeared after a couple of days, when did you get the phone?

Yesterday afternoon. I'm going to give it till tomorrow afternoon to see what happens with it (Earliest I can get round to returning it anyway).
vertical white line
I have the same vertical white line, approximately 1.5cm from the left side of
the display. I have had my note for about 2 weeks now. The line is very thin and barely visible and I am not sure if it has been there from the beginning. It is only visible on white display(low brighness) and if you know where to look for it. My note is without the local warranty so all consequences have to be borne by me. Have you found if it is a defect or perhaps this is normal since it is barely visible?
I brought SGS2 yesterday and I just returned it back to the store. It had a screen problem: when I put just one colour on backround I observerd two horizontal lines on the half bottom of the screen...the lines are more visible on white or yellow colour. The lines are not seen verry clearly, only from different angles.Does anyone had the same problem?
...I made some photos of the screen just before taking back the phone, I'll upload them later.
There are numerous problems with the screen to be honest.
But there are also people who don't notice anything(i think most).
There is the famous yellow 1/3 of the left side.
But beside that I had some other problems, vertical/horizontal lines on grey colour. ANd other stuff where the screen didn't work as it should be for this high end phone.
Hey guys. Was out and about the other day and was using my phone and as I tilted the phone down out of the glare of the sun I noticed some weird vertical lines on my screen. Each evenly spaced same colour etc.
I can not replicate the effect unless there is large amounts of light or im outside in real light. BEAR IN MIND ITS ONLY VISIBLE AT CERTAIN ANGLES.
The lines don't appear on any pictures or hinder the video. They ar only visible during sunlight.
What im wondering has anybody else got this I will say issue. Or any insight as to what it could be? If there's a problem Carphone warehouse will want to repair it and not give me a swap for a new phone. What light does anyone have to share. Or am I just being paranoid?
My Titan is exactly the same, I think its just the way the screen works and is nothing to worry about.

I've got mine from Carphone warehouse. Haven't noticed this yet. They will replace it for you within 28 days. Else it goes to HTC for repairs. However, where did you find this sunlight? It's been so gloomy out here. BTW as mentioned above, this could be just the normal screen behaviour. The other two issues with screen that have come up so far are - the pink dot in the middle and grey keys visible on white background. Nothing back from HTC.
Hold your Titan with the screen directly facing you, at about 3/4 arms' length (as in, just sorta normally with your elbow bent a little) under diffuse light, with the phone powered up and the screen off.
Then tilt the phone backwards. As you get about 3/4 of the way back, you might see a regular pattern of thin stripes running up and and down on the screen.
They are not visible when the screen is powered up. I think it's just a normal part of the way the LCD panel works. As an analog, on my Dell Venue Pro, I could see a grid of dots under its AMOLED screen when looking closely at an oblique angle similar to as described above.
I also have a matte finish screen protector on my Titan, which might be making this more pronounced. In any case, it is absolutely *not* happening when the screen is powered up -- even in black areas of the screen.
Hmmm... Maybe it's a future charging grid.
have you guys noticed anything new in regard to htc amaze blue lines. i just go the phone a week ago and i have been noticying the same things. any new info thank.
My Titan also has these blue vertical lines, and it is seen only in daylight with screen off.
I see the same too but I thought it was from my screen protector...
I bought my N9 32GB white from Amazon Warehouse on Feb. 17. It was the second I'd ordered. The first had a defect (bent frame). All has seemed well with this--very minimal light bleed; no dead pixels; recessed but clicky buttons; no squishy back--in fact, very solid. For the past two weeks, I've noticed a cloudy area about 1"x1" just below the horizontal midline near the center in portrait mode. It looks like a smudge but remains after I wipe. It's particularly noticeable as I scroll white-background screens. I even changed my Tapatalk app to dark mode to avoid it. I've tried to get a pic of it, but it doesn't show up well enough, if at all.
I came across a similar situation of someone seeing dark areas on light background on his LCD panel laptop after he had sat on it. It was reported that applying extreme pressure to an LCD screen could result in this phenomenon. I have not applied any pressure to the screen, but as it is an open-boxed item, it could have happened.
I need opinions from those who know about these things as I know nothing. ATM, I'm trying to train myself to scroll a page from the center so that my fingers hide the "shadow" which is also what it looks like.
Thanks

Hi, ritchea...
Sounds like you've not had the best of luck with the N9, this being your second one.
From your description it certainly sounds like a hardware defect with the screen. A manufacturing flaw perhaps, or something happened to the device whilst in transit or in storage at the warehouse
If it really bugs you, you should get it replaced.
I'm a little OCD about this kind of thing, and no matter how much you try to convince yourself it's nothing and to avoid looking (at the screen flaw)... subsequently, you spend all your time **thinking** about not looking... And eventually you look.. And wished you hadn't... if that makes sense. It detracts from your enjoyment of the device.
Rgrds,
Ged.
I'm a bit (more than a bit, really) OCD. I've owned over a dozen devices but never experienced this so I also assume a defect. I just needed to know if this is a possible defect that is known-especially when trying to get service.
EDIT: As this thread had had over 200 views, I'm throwing more info out there to see if anyone has any further insight.
I factory reset the tab --all stock except for relocking it. Darn if the spot didn;t seem to disappear. Then it returned. At that point, I decided to revisit the back. Hmmm. There is a little give in it--not spongy, but when I applied some pressure, I heard a sound in the middle of the tab like adhesive reattaching. (I've looked at the teardown and know that a lot of tape exists but not from the back cover to the rest of the tab.) I looked at the white screen, and again, the cloud was gone. In a few minutes, it reappeared. So, I firmly rubbed the mid-back and the cloud disappeared. I've now tried it over a dozen times (after restoring my nandroid), and applying firm pressure to the back always, but temporarily, removes the cloudy area. Can someone say what's most likely causing this? (I know it's faulty hardware, but I mean, what is happening to the screen when I apply pressure? Maybe a bubble in a layer somewhere?
Because of the camera, I don't want to get into taking the back off. I chatted with HTC to make sure my Amazon warehouse tablet was covered, and was told that it is even though (from the CSR) Amazon is not an official HTC retailer.
I have a very light white line across the screen just below the AOD clock.
Now this line is like a smudge and if i rub on the line it vanishes but after sometime it comes back at exactly the same spot.
I dont know how to explain but it seems like dust line and not something that is inside on the screen.
Is anyone else facing this?
May be its oleophobic coating wearing off..
That's crazy
I just got that today as well. Unless I hadn't noticed it before but my phone is 2 weeks old. I have not dropped it at all
I have the exact same thing on my phone, I also noticed it on my wifes phone.
Same here ..
The AOD clock moves, so your description doesn't quite help.
If you use an app like "Display Tester" to show a black screen, do you see the line?

i also have this issue
it like a white haze, a vertical line across the sides of the screen, before it curves to the sides. i have it both sides however left side is longer. it doesn't look like a scratch or burn-in, it's like a vertical haze that won't get removed with any wiping or cleaning.
its not really noticeable in general, only most noticeable when screen is turned off or when it is displaying black or dark images.
Smudge on screen
I am using Smasung S9 Plus and I don't know what is the proper name for it but i am facing same issue.
Temp Solution : It gives you temp solution by using Touch Screen Wipes and Dry Cotton clothes .
but after one or two days it comes again so i am waiting for permanent solution.
