OK, I got my new HTC One X+ a couple of days back, and I tried to root it using a root tool for the HTC One X. I know that was stupid, but nothing I can do now. When I try and turn it on it will just get stuck on the "HTC quietly brilliant" screen. I can boot to the bootloader and recovery, and I've flashed the Sense 5 Rom, but it still won't boot. Any help would be appreciated
First off what Sense 5 rom?! Did you flash the kernel from the rom archive? This is necessary on any rom flash.
Flash a rom using fastboot commands. Make sure you are in fastboot mode.
fastboot command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot <boot.img location here>

OK, well I've decided to send it back because nothing seems to work. Is there anything I can do to make it look at stock as possible before I return it. (I know my warranty will no longer apply, but it's worth a try anyway) If possible, is there any way I can return it to the stock ROM? Maybe with a nandroid backup or RUU.
OP, you really should read just a little bit before posting. If you did that, you would know that you can download a RUU for your phone which should usually revert it back to stock (but with a Relocked bootloader)

Ah, I see. Would it be OK to ask which RUU I should use?
version: 0.5a
version-bootloader: 1.35.0000
version-baseband: 3.1204.168.32
version-cpld: None
version-microp: None
version-main: 1.17.401.1
product: enrc2b_u
platform: HBOOT-T30S

the RUU version needs to 1.17.401.1. the specific file depends on whether your phone is an operator model or a SIM-free model and the geographic region.

I've already nanoid backup.
Lets say I'll go ahead & experiment with custom ROMs, & that fails, the phone will get stuck with whatever screen or black screen.
You think I can use Toolkit V1.1 by hasoon2000 to boot to Recovery & restore it?
sorry for asking too many questions, I just want to avoid issues.
Thanks

Can I use this method to flash custom ROM for HOX+?
thanks
Happily to report that I've successfully installed Elegancia 3.2 without updating the firmware.
Thank you all.
I'm a noob and this is also for noobs
Short story:
Download the last update available through wifi and before clicking 'Install' overwrite it with the Sense 5 version for your phone in 'Download' folder (keep the same name as the downloaded file).
Long story:
A small solution till the official wifi update will be available for people in Belgium and Netherlands with version 1.17.401.1:
1) Check for updates. You will get a new update called 1.17.401.3 (14mb). Download it but DO NOT install it. You will click "install" later, after step 4.
2) Connect the phone to PC. Search on the forum the Sense 5 version 2.18.401.2 and copy it to your phone 'Download' folder. Copy THE NAME of the 1.17.401.3 zip file (the one downloaded with the phone via wifi) and delete it.
4. Rename the Sense 5 (2.18.401.2) zip file from the 'Download' folder with the name that you just copied.
5. Click "Install" on the phone (if you cannot find the button, look in the notification area)
Now the phone will install Sense 5 archive.
Ive done this 2 times so far and it was successful.
This may be applied for anyone with an Locked phone and in the happy situation that is on a lower version and still has an update available through wifi. Make sure you overwrite the zip file with the correct sense 5 version for your phone.
Question: Is there another way to update a locked phone with a OTA zip file? Is that possible with the use of recovery (by the way... for what's good the stock recovery?) Or a way to make the phone trick/access the Download folder on the phone without having to have a small update available?
Thank you all.
You sir, just won the internet today!!
Im from belgium but my phone is german, cid 102 (ebay) and i guess this small update you talk about rolled out quite sometime ago (back in may - something about the camera and other tweaks if im not mistaken).
Could you give me a link to the stock update rom archive you used? Id like to check somethings. Thanks. Anyhow i guess since i have no pending update nothing will happen even if i try lol. Thanls anyway.
Also, when you say locked, do you mean completely stock, unrooted etc..?

Locked = Yes, completely stock, unrooted and never unlocked.
Download link for HOX+ Sense 5 (2.18.401.2)
I know that not a lot of people still have an update pending... but still... it could be someone out there that could use this method, and not only for HOX+.
CID's compatible with this file and this method:
HTC__001
HTC__E11
HTC__102
HTC__032
HTC__Y13
HTC__J15
HTC__M27
HTC__203

so you have 1.40
There is no RUU available for 1.40. Use adb sideload to copy a custom ROM, flash the ROM from TWRP, flash the kernel from adb and enjoy...
There are lots of threads describing the processes - go ahead and explore...
Hiya, I've tried everything. Literally, everything i could find on this site and a few others around the web,Everytime i'd try to get my rom pushed onto my sdcard, (internal HD) I would get the no device found error. Everytime i try to get my sdcard mounted, theres no option for me to do so, I'm fairly new to all this and I was desperately hoping to get my 4.2.2 JB update, though i lost the AT&T Software Update option in settings,..Thats the reason why i went for a ROM on xda forums..Up til now it feels like ive had no luck in finding the only options i needed to get through my quest...
Oh if this helps, i was running 4.1.1 and sense 4+ on my HOX+.I have s-on? if anything else is needed regarding my software please ask!.
If anyone could help it would be more than appreciated. Thanks.

T-Mob=GSM. We use the International forums for the most part.
That explains it then. I guess I should head over there. By chance do you know anything about converting T-Mobile htc one to dev edition?

Yup. Grab the proper hboot for your device from rumrunner.us, follow the instructions to flash it, change your CID to SuperCID and run the dev. Ed. RUU. Couldn't be much easier. (Addition: You must be S-Off prior to doing this)
(With that HBOOT you can also change the MID to Dev. Ed. and use the actual Dev. Ed CID too if you wish. That's how I normally do it.)
Dev Ed Info:
CID: BS__001
MID: PN0712000
Good thread on CID/MID inffo and RUU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823
htc1guru.com also has most of the RUU files.
I've converted mine from T-Mobile to INT'L, GPe, Dev and back several times. That HBOOT above is a life-saver.
Good luck!

(With that HBOOT you can also change the MID to Dev. Ed. and use the actual Dev. Ed CID too if you wish. That's how I normally do it.)
Dev Ed Info:
CID: HTC__001
MID: PN0712000
Good thread on CID/MID inffo and RUU: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823
htc1guru.com also has most of the RUU files.
I've converted mine from T-Mobile to INT'L, GPe, Dev and back several times. That HBOOT above is a life-saver.
Good luck!

Not if you're T-Mobile.
They list the different HBOOTs and what device they are for. Not sure it really makes a huge difference, but probably good to stick with what device you have.
Compiled some links (working on my own "guide"):
http://rumrunner.us/hboots/ (Allows running of "fastboot oem writemid")
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823 (List of CID/MID combinations for every version of the HTC One you can think of.)
http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ruu-file-downloads/ (Nearly every RUU out there except GPe)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358781 (GPe RUU zip files and instructions.)
Hope it helps.

100 percent personal preference. I *love* the sense 5.5 quick settings tiles, but also really like GPe.
Really tough decision for me on that one. Eventually went with GPE and an xposed-mod to change the default behavior of the tiles. (big fan of Advanced Reboot and Gravitybox xposed-mods)
I've gone back and forth so many times though that I've got it down to a 15 minute process. (Yeah, it's that bad...I can't stop....I need help...)
So I wrote a quick guide. Wanna test it? Let me know if it works/what steps I may be missing:
Prerequisites:
Must be Unlocked (HTCDev)
Must be S-OFF (Rumrunner / revone)
Windows 7 - Using WIndows 8 will mess you up. Don't do it.
(I should probably put the standard disclaimer here, but if they are unlocked and S-Off, well..their warranty is already voided, amirite?)
Download a modified HBOOT for your device here:
http://rumrunner.us/hboots/
Find the CID & MID info needed for your desired conversion here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2182823
(Example: Dev Edition - CID: HTC__001 and MID: PN0712000
Download the RUU file for your conversion here:
http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ruu-file-downloads/
Or if converting to GPE, from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2358781
Now that you have everything you need:
Flash the modified HBOOT:
From bootloader/fastboot USB mode:
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip hboot_rumrunner_<XXXYYYZZZ>.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Change your CID/MID
Code:
fastboot oem writeCID xxxxxxxx
fastboot oem writemid PN07xxxxxx
Run the RUU executable ot (for GPe):
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip <name of GPe zipfile.zip>
RUU exe will reboot your device, GPe zip will require you to:
Code:
fastboot reboot
From here, any OTA's should be downloadable/flashable through the OS.

since im already s-off and hboot already flashed, all i have to do is set cid and mid and flash ruu? damn thats easy. if i use the dev edition, will it basically be the same as my stock t-mobile minus the bloat? does it function the same as far as signal and all?

Yeppers. Well, for me anyway. Some folks reported better coverage/bars by flashing the T-Mob radio after, but...meh. Placebo.
Dev edition will actually be one step above your T-Mo edition since they are on 4.4 with Sense 5.5 already if I am not mistaken. I believe the Int'l edition is also on 4.4 and Sense 5.5. (blinkfeed can be disabled and the quick settings tiles can be changed/re-arranged)
Good stuff.

I have not had any issues, personally, with rumrunner's modified HBOOT. It shouldn't be a problem.

I think by International, he means the original HTC One forum...the one with ViperOne, InsertCoin, ARHD, and all the other big name ROMs.
