Root access is required else you will get a "killed" reply
Majority, not all apps will have the button enabled.
Always backup your phone (nandroid) before trying anything.
You will need terminal
Download Terminal Emulator from Market. (or any terminal software)
type the command below
Code:
su
pm setInstallLocation 2
if you see "[1] Killed pm setInstallLocation 2" means it didn't work
if it replies with "#" means it worked.
now open up settings->manage application and check out which applications have the move to SD enabled.
NOTE: SD card loads slower than the phone. So you will need to know what can be moved and what is better left in the phone. If an essential app is required on boot and the file cannot be found because it is on SD (which isn't loaded yet) you might run into some problems.
Some apps like Facebook can't be moved to SD.
Yes, I know there is A2SD it I can't get it to work on stock rom so this is my other alternative.
Or you can just install "Move2SD Enabler" from market.
Yeah, that is another way for non rooted users I believe.
Hi guys, I am eyeing for improving performance of my LG OPtimus One, specially the Megatron ROM by applying cooked ROMS(probably the megatron). Unfortunately,I have less ideas yet about this due to I am still new to Android.
1. I have already rooted using Z4 for superuser
2. What to do next?
Please guide me guys......
Read here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901247
I would recommend the Nessy #Euridice ROM over Megatron....

i tried cavemans, the multitouch is still buggy.. i think cavemans only fixes the touch response. sippollos uses cavemans touch fix and miks multitouch fix
i dnt play much games on o1 lol.
Its like very childish ..
Thank you for the reply guys.
I followed the Amon_RA recovery port..
In here: h t t p://androidforums.com/getitnowmarketing/221388-custom-recovery-optimus-one-p500-thunderg.html#post1896517
I am confused where is ADB shell or terminal?
Download terminal from market.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
Now I'm confused....when you say that you have followed the amon_ra recovery method, and yet you ask what is ADB... how did you do it ...
If I assume correctly, then you want to follow the amon_ra method...right?
in that case check this out :
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/what-is-adb-and-how-to-install-it-android/
for usb drivers, use the lg tool to download the usb drivers and then either install them manually or use lg tool to install them.
After that follow amon_ra method...
Guys, I am using a terminal emulator downloaded from the market which seems easier initially(In case this wont work, Ill go with hell1134's suggestion).
hell1134, sorry, I was quite confusing, I mean I am going to follow yet amon_ra
How to put the flash_image.img and recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-1.1.0.img to the root of my SD card? It says cannot copy, write-protected or access denied... The scenario is I extracted the zip files downloaded from the site and then copy and pasted the two image files to the SD card.
Sorry, I am still newbie about these stuffs. Please help..
copy the 2 zip to root of sd
and also extract them (on sd)
then follow instructions
@ ciolnadu
Hahaha! I dont know if I got it right but I reformatted my SD card through Windows XP reformatting so it cleaned my SD card. Then I downloaded again the two zip files to my hard disk drive and extracted the two image files to the newly reformatted SD card.
Ok...now I get the picture...
To put the flash_image.img and recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-1.1.0.img to the root of my SD card, connect your phone to your PC with usb cable. A notification will come on your phone where there will be an option to " turn on USB storage " -> select/click it.
It will immediately turn orange and there will be another option to " turn off USB storage ". Do not click it.
Yor phone will be recognised as mass storage device by your PC. Copy the flash_image.img and recovery-RA-GNM-thunderg-1.1.0.img files to the mass storage ( like any other usb storage device like pen drive ). MAKE SURE IT IS NOT PLACE IN ANY FOLDER.
Now on the phone click " turn off usb storage " on phone and disconnect from your PC.
Well...that puts those files to your sd card's root.
Edit: Oops ... guess was a bit late ..
One advice....try to format the SD card via phone settings...might remove most sd card related problems.
@ hell1134
That is what I did and they are pasted now =)
Now I am using the Terminal Emulator and Wifi Keyboard to follow and apply the terminal codes (quite confusing for a newbie indeed but I should manage ^^ ). Now the problem is I am stuck with the code:
# mv /system/etc/install-recovery.sh /system/etc/install-recovery.sh.bak
It says, "failed on '/system/etc/install-recovery.sh' - No such file or directly
What shall I do guys? Am I missing something?
Update:
Quoted from "Getitnowmarketing" answering to the same experienced from another user there:
You dont want that file there as it keeps recovery from "sticking" its not in all roms usually there ater you do an ota update. That command removes it. If its not there move on to next step.
>.< So seems my ROM hasnt it, so I must proceed to the next command
Update:
I am already rebooted to the Recovery Menu. I'm so excited hahaha!^^ (noob me)
I am doing a Nand Backup + Ext + Android Secure
Ill keep you updated guys. Thanks!
Hi all,
I need your help with the following tablet 9" GT90H with Allview A23 CPU/ chipset and android 4.2. I want to backup the ROM, to perform few modifications and to upload the modified image to the tablet, but I am stuck on the first phase (cannot dump the rom).
I tried several ways to do it (actually that I found) to dump/ backup the stock ROM but I was stuck on all of them. First I tried using the clockwork way, but unfortunately my tablet is not supported (and I could not find supported MOD). Then I tried with romdump, but unfortunately I was stuck because the tablet does not have /proc/mnt file. Finally I found a way using the rkdump method but I had non recognize image error (although I am not sure if I found the correct partition to back up - /dev/block/by-name/recovery ). I have doubts if this is the correct partition, because I did a binary copy using dd to a file, which ended up with size around 32 MB (which I found too small for a recovery image).
So that is why I decided to seek help from more advance users (this is my first tablet, and first android experience) and I believe this forum is the right place for that.
My first request is could someone guide how to make a proper ROM backup, that I would be able to restore later?
In addition I want to ask is it possible, once I backed up the ROM, to modify for example the home page (because on the current ROM the home page for all browsers that I install is http://www.baidu.com)?
Moreover I would like to to install the ROM on external memory card and to run the tablet from there (because the internal memory of this table is too low - 8GB but for the system partition I have only 500 mb, which are all occupied with pre installed software). Is this something that I can achieve (android as far as I know is *unix system, and in theory this should be possible)?
Thank you in advance.
For increase space you can use Terminal Emulator for market and must have root on tablet.
Open terminal , and run the commands :
pm get-install-location (this will show you where apps are installing in this moment)
Auto device install is 0 (the tablet chose auto where to install apps, usuale is chosing to internal memory, your 500mb )
internal memory is 1 (Tablet memory - your 500mb )
External memory is 2 this is where you want to instal apps - (your 8GB )
After run the comand and see the sistem is set to AUTO (0) you will run this :
pm set-install-location 2 - This will force apps to instal in your 8gb
to check if is ok , run again : pm-get-install-location
exit terminal emulator
Good luck ! Hope it help you
Problem with my GT90H
Hey Guys,
I have a Problem with my GT90H. It stops to boot at the screen: Tablet PC - Keep Moving Forward.
If i go in the recovery mode. I can reboot the system, but it stops at the same screen like I explained in my first sentence.
The Factory Reset doesn't work. So I read in some communitys that Tablets can be flashed with a new ROM (Android System) over the USB Port from the Computer.
So can anybody send me the Android 4.2.2 Image for my GT90H ?
It's very important. So thanks.
Thanks for your help.

Hi all!
I'm porting a ROM to my device (HDC Samsung GT-I9500 MTK6577 based) and I'm stuck with a problem that is getting me out of my mind, I hope you'll help me with that, here the details I got :
The device :
A fake Samsung Galaxy S4 based on the MTK6577 :
Stock ROM : Android JB 4.1.1 (With crappy Touchwizz UI)
ROM I want to port : Android JB 4.2.2 (Stock Android)
The device is very close to the Iris 455, I've tried to flash this ROM here and it worked, I just had to change those files to fix WiFi issue and Bluetooth issue :
\system\lib\modules\mtk_stp_wmt.ko
\system\lib\modules\mtk_wmt_wifi.ko
\system\lib\libbluetooth_mtk.so
\system\lib\libbluetoothem_mtk.so
The problems :
I can't install any APK manually or any app via Google Play Store. ("Unknown error -110" for GP and "App not installed" with manual install)
I can't mount the SD external card. (SD card damaged) [Fixed with the ZTE v970/v970m]
Camera is reverted but that's not really a problem for me.
Messaging app crashing on any ROM I tried.
What I've tried :
For the apps install issue :
Flashed new Gapps. (worked but still can't install apps)
Installed new Busybox.
Push APK with ADB. (Failure [INSTALL_FAILED_INTERNAL_ERROR])
But none of those made a concrete progress.
For the SD card not mounting :
Chkdsk on SD card.
Format to FAT32.
Inserted it on another mobile to format it.
And still none of these options worked.
I've followed the log to try to find the bug or to find any clues, but I got nothing really interesting.
Those bugs do not exist in the Stock ROM, I'm just trying to figure out how to solve those problems.
Thanks in advance ! If you need any other informations, please let me know.

Try this:
1. Install minimal ADB;
2.Open the terminal in a PC and type:
adb shell ENTER
su ENTER
mkdir /data/app--lib ENTER
This should take care of the problem. I hope this helps.

On the second issue try this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2123239 read particularly from page 165. The whole thread is very educative as as far as MTK devices are concerned,
Well thank you for this tip! That's a great topic!
Here are the news :
With the other ROM I was trying to port, no way, mounting the external SD card is impossible, even if I tried all the guides I've found in the topic, the good news is, I've found another ROM here that mounted the two cards without any problem ! (I'm very thankful to superdragonpt for that awesome ROM ^^ )
The bad news is that the APK install issue is still live :/ ! With the two ROMs (the IRIS and the ZTE one) I got the same error no matter what I try I've tried the commands you've provided me but with no concrete results.. Tried also to chmod 755 in case of the app folder were set in a wrong chmod but nothing happened (rebooted several times to be sure).
The other bad news is that WiFi and BT are not working, I'm currently on that issue trying to fix that. [Fixed]
So any ideas for the APK installs? Apps placed in /data/app are not visible when flashed in the phone by the way.

hello i have moto e ... this is a good phone in a low budget.. but the app installing option is really pathetic... i could not install high end games on my device ... thus i found a way a way to change the default app install storage .. using adb shell ...
using these commands
adb devices
adb shell pm set-install-location 2
adb shell pm get-install-location
then it shows 2 [external]
then i tried to install whats app it installed in ext sd ..but all other apps were installig in phone internal memory..:crying:
then again i used those adb commands.. as written bellow
adb devices
adb shell pm set-install-location 0
adb shell pm get-install-location
it shows 0[auto]
but all apps are installing in internal ..except subway surfer... and the "move to sdcard" option is not working for all apps.. i mean this option is not highlighted ... or not available.. but before doing this all adb commands it was possible to move some apps on sd ... :crying: now it is not possible for any app. for example messenger app is not possible to move ... some please help ... give me a perfect solution for this issue ..... i wanna move my apps on my sd..
Yeah.. In Kitkat there is restriction to move apps to sd. To overcome that restriction follow these steps :
1) go to my thread here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/general/guide-apps-games-to-sdcard-completely-t2869925 and download the app after reading instrctions.
2) install app and that's it. the settings are changed. Now install link2sd or any other app that moves apps to sdcard by native app2sd method. This works on Moto E as i had tested it.
3) Press THANKS to support me.
