If my htc one is moonshine'd do i still have to update my firmware and whatnot? or is it included in the roms?

Thanks for replying and would it make a significant difference in signal?

No idea, haven't noticed a difference in day to day use but I don't have numbers to back that up

I dont think its included in any roms, but rather an optional update package, personally I wouldnt do it and just wait for official firmware for your variant of the device...

Hex compare them, sorry but they are not the same...where they may "work" there are still differences from euro and att/developer build firmware and kernels. And it is not a necessity to upgrade the firmware.

No it is exactly the same there's no real reason to wait for one from at&t because you'll be waiting awhile for it and it won't be any better than what we already have from the international version.

Ive been developing on these phones for years, and was one of the long standing developers on here, opinions vary and will differ as with anything...to each their own, you know more than me, not going to debate this with you...as a developer i warn against doing it regardless of what others say...end of discussion...so how bout those yankees?

1.29 update

Is it possible to install the 1.29 update on an ATT HTC One? Would I require an unlocked bootloader to do that? Are there repercussions I should be aware of?
You can flash any International ROM once you're unlocked/rooted/custom recovery. All of which are most likely based on .29 WWE firmware.

If your reason for flashing is because the camera and beats improvements. There's no need. The att firmware shipped with the improvements.

Well that is pretty disappointing considering my pictures have horrible over exposure still with any kind of bright light or the sky. The 1.26 to 1.29 images from the PocketNow test are vastly improved. My AT&T One still looks like the pre-updated international firmware pics.

The whole point of having software versioning in increasing order is to correspond to new developments. I have hard time believing the camera, beats and any other "improvements" made in 1.29 is in AT&T's 1.26.
Surely if this were true someone would have some proof. Let's see it?

Doesn't require anything special. Just takes them getting the tuning right. Then they bring the intl version up to date. Hence them getting different version. Remember they released first.

I'm still calling BS. It makes absolutely no sense that one version would be different than another for the exact same development. Anyone that believes otherwise is just naive. There is proof one way or the other, it just has to be revealed.

Why not. Do you know how product cycles work? They just don't make all the phones at one time... Theres the pre production phones which were at the announcement and early reviewers. Then they would of started the intl version production soon after if not it was already done. If they decided to make an adjustment during the making of the intl ONE it's easier to continue the product run and fix with a ota than it is start all over... US versions have to be picked over before production. So they would of had time to tweak software.
So no it's not naive. Saying there's no way is naive .

Personally I rather one of our smart forum members to give is the 411 on the different binaries within the firmware. As I have said before, the proof is there.

Where is our update to 1.29?

With all the of 4.2 coming out where is the 1.29 update?
I just want the battery enhancement ans camera upgrade.

Indeed 4.1.2 and 1.27.531.7 is what we are stuck with....
Just called T-Mobile and the woman saw nothing about the updates in their system...
She said if you can download the update and apply it from HTC's website that would work, but rooting and using different software would break the warranty.

The rep would not know anything except an update currently in the pipeline, that is, already heading our way. Only someone at Tmo corporate headquarters would know the strategic deployment strategy, and they do not talk. TMO tends to release updates later than other companies.
t-mobile tends to release updates not at all...
a few years ago my smartphone was updated for all carriers except t-mobile. everyone went up an android version while I did not.
who cares how much difference it makes... t-mobile is clearly lazier about updating than other companies and need a push to do so.

Well, for my Amaze 4G, they released the upgrade to ICS after about 5 months. And then very recently they did another upgrade, which would be almost a year later. But that first major update wasn't that late.
The way I look at it, if you're using these forums, you shouldn't have to wait for carrier updates. HTC did announce that an update is in the works.

Since its safe to assume verizon will be running over this update again and again with its monster truck of doom and then leaving it to die in the mud long before even thinking about passing the carcass of whats left to its customers, our awesome dev's will be needing an international base, I'm sure, as soon as it is available in order to pass the greatness on to their VZ followers(ok me ) through their awesome ROMs that they work so hard on.
Soooo I was thinking; in order to hopefully cut the first step out (getting a hold of the update file itself) maybe the right combination of peeps(someone who is or knows someone that is on the international base) could read this thread and kindly have the update file extracted and ready to share to the devs as soon as its available...
If this is a waste of thread then I apologize. I'm just trying to help any way I can...
I flash ALOT ...and also yes.
I'm thinking we'll have the international base out by middle of next week. Hopefully we'll get some of the new features that's on the GS4 like the new photo stuff.

Id say it depends on what rom youre talking about. Ones built off the VZW base wont be updated until we get an OTA more than likely. Roms based on the International firmware will be updated straight away.
The article the OP linked only applies to the International variant, therefore its only moderately exciting.

So I read up on this because this sounded like something i would really like to achieve as the international has already recieved 4.2.2.
Ive researched a bit and I was just curious if what I've read is actually true. My theory is that since both devices , international and at&t , both have roms for the 4.1.2 firmware then i may flash my phone to run the actual international versions firmware 4.1.2 thus then letting me upgrade to 4.2.2. This is actually be possible on my at&t HTC one 32 GB ? I believe this is true but are there actual proof of xda devs running this? Thanks for the help guys i don't know what the heck I would do without this awesome community of Devs and modders.

AT&T One X+ 4.2.2 Update Guide with RUU

Update Details: http://www.htc.com/us/software/software-updates/htc-one-x-sense-5-update/
AT&T RUU: https://s.basketbuild.com/filedl/de...5_18.27.11.35L_release_341689_signed_0220.exe
Sense 5 ROMs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36091570&postcount=1
Q&A
I am on the stock ROM, but my bootloader is unlocked and I am rooted. Can I accept the OTA update?
No, you must relock your bootloader before taking the update. Otherwise, it will do nothing.
Can I accept the OTA update while on a custom ROM like Viper, Elegancia, Blackout, etc?
No, because the OTA checks to see if any files have been tampered with from stock, so your phone will refuse to update. You will have to go back to a stock ROM or flash the RUU to get the update.
Will the Telus One X+ be getting the OTA update?
It looks like Telus isn't getting the update according to this update schedule, which lacks any mention of the X+.
How do I get said update if I am not on the AT&T network?
Your only options at the moment are to flash a custom ROM based on Sense 5 or flash the RUU, as you cannot receive the OTA from AT&T while on another network.
Is there a way to get the update without updating the bootloader?
Yes, flashing a custom ROM based on Sense 5 will give you the update without updating your bootloader.
I tried updating, but it downloaded a 13 MB update and I'm still on Sense 4+. What gives?
The Sense 5 update is a two-part update. The first small update gets the phone ready for the larger and fully Sense 5 update.
But now I have to wait another 24 hours before I can check for updates again! What if I want it NOW?
You can go to Settings > Date and Time and uncheck Automatic Date/Time, then manually set the day ahead by one. This will allow you to check for updates again.
If you still have some unanswered questions or want something clarified leave a reply and I'll see what I can do. :fingers-crossed:

It could have been a good phone if the development crew behind the OTA updates didn't **** around.
Now everything's been shifted towards newer tech. What a waste, and what I don't get is why were there two different versions of this phone to begin with? I'm sure AT&T is outside the US, and I'm sure the wireless communications are just the same everywhere else. Just plain stupidity in the development chain.

AT&T may also be outside the US, but most international carriers and countries haven't fully taken advantage of LTE as of yet, so that kind of difference is more understandable. Hopefully once the new update comes out development will pick up again. I know I'll be looking into ROM development once the new update releases. :good:

The AT&T version has different radio hardware to the international version. Because of this the devices require different kernels amongst other things. This is why the different roms are not compatible nor will they ever be. This has been explained many times on the forums.

Anyone think that with this update there might be some hope with new ROMs? Or will it not matter

So, the EVO 4G LTE has been confirmed to receive Android 4.3 by the end of the year. I don't know what that means for us, but considering the X+ is almost 6 months newer, there's a very likely chance that we'll receive 4.3 at some point as well!

From AT&T? Doubt it. But like some say: times shows everything.

I think HTC are going to stop supporting older devices even more now. They made a massive quarterly loss this previous quarter. And in fact no smartphone manufacturer that has made this kind of loss has ever survived in one piece. The last two companies to do it was Blackberry and Nokia. Sucks really as HTC are the only smartphones i've ever really liked.
