Hi to all XDA!
I have a simple ask, I'm using the .89 firmware (Xperia U), BL Unlocked and Rooted, from factory has 2.3.7 GB, but I don't like GB too much, so I unlocked BL and upgrade to .89 and Rooted, but after some weeks, it turns very laggy, specially in multitasking, so I need to reboot every night to speed up... After a weeks doing this, I decided to upgrade, and downloaded various Roms, but again a some weeks it turns laggy, with all roms except ShockGens, works perfect but don't have Cyber-Shot and Walkman don't work with equalizer (Apollo does); LED's bar work with a patch and Illumination Bar, I love this ROM but I want Cyber-Shot and Video Recording (it's close when stop recording). Download Music Info is not very important. Also Wi-Fi turns off while the phone is screen-off, solved with WiFi Keep Alive app.
I don't want to underestimate the works of developers, because all roms I tried are amazing, so I ask to us if .89 firmware is the correct to use, or recommend .54 / .100. I do not mind not having free RAM, while not have too much lag using WhatsApp, LINE and Walkman. Also Zello, Messenger (not FB app, the messenger only). ShockGens Rom works very smooth, Dialer and SMS lag is free, less than 1 second to open.
BTW, can someone tell me diferences between .54 - .89 and .100 diferences?
Sorry for very bad english, I follow too many works from Argentina, since I had a Defy to today (Xperia U).
Thanks in advance to all XDA !!
B.1.100 is the latest and smoothest of all Stock ROMs.
I would recommend you to flash Venezuela Xperia U MOD Rom which is based on B.1.100
Stock ROMs tend to become laggy while multitasking because it's process are already running + your own apps.
You can use RAM Manager Pro to help you manage RAM better.

Hi all,
i am new to this great forum and owner of a neo v.
i used stock gb for a while, unlocked bl, rooted it and ****ed the system heavily up because i am a bloody noob
Then i tried CM9 and 10, Spacious ISC, Ice Cream Purness and Polish Blood JB.
Except for Polish Blood, i was not very happy with the performance of the Roms, but maybe that was just because i never updated to official ICS FW and still was on BB 64 (iirc, was for sure some 60ties BB).
Polish Blood is great (and exactly what i am looking for, clean, no imo useless fancy stuff) but as it is not maintained anymore and the last version is still too buggy for my daily use it is also not suitable for me.
Then i decided to go back to Sony ICS, so i relocked BL, flashed .431 FW via Flashtool (my SI is not on the list for .487) and did a seus repair.
So now i am on official ICS from Sony and the Performance is really bad (well CM9 or 10 was not really better tho).
As there is a whole Jungle of Roms out there, i wanted to ask you guys if you can recommend me a Rom/Kernel combination.
What i need/want:
- it should be fast, that is the most important thing, i really dont care about theme engine xy, window animations from jb or designs and wallpapers i won't use anyway. Tbh i preffer it if it's stupid simple and naked (i use OpenBox as WM on my pc...)
- Hdmi and 720p recording must be working
- as mentioned above, i like it simple and clean
Oh and i have two more question...as my neo v doesn't officially supports FW .487 would it be a problem to use a rom based on that fw and must i flash this FW prior to a custom rom based on .487? (in some install instructions i read that you have to do so, in some not...)
Thank you all in advance!
Hello and welcome to the forum! I have moved your thread to the Q&A section. In the future please double check what you are posting and make sure it is in the correct sub-forum. Hopefully you will get better help in this section. Enjoy your time and happy flashing!
FYI-I gave you your first thanks on accident.

Hi, i'm newbie too, but I tried many ROMs, and I can say, that stock .62 FW with some modifications is really faster than all of custom ROMs, except CyanogenMod 7, but it doesn't have some features from stock (like keyboard, HDMI and music player), so 2.3.4 .62 is the best for performance and daily use) now i'm on .587 stock fw, it is fast too, but it have more bugs in games, than gingerbread. Just for the record, there is an official update for my neo v to .587, although it is not written in the sony si number forum post and i did not get a notification on my phone...i just connected my phone to pcc because i wanted to check, if there is the possibility to backup /data and it told me there is an update available (adb backup don't work on my linux or windows pc...but that's another topic if it still doesn't work with .587, i just want to backup game data and stuff before i re-unlock bootloader).
So maybe there are other users here that could get an update and don't know about it...

that's good to know, i will try out a few more isc roms and if im still not happy, i think i will have a look at CM7. The keyboard is definitely much better than the one brought with CM, but i think it shouldn't be too hard to copy the APK over (if not, there are some good swipe-keyboards in the store), same for the music player, but i liked the one shipped with CM 9 and 10 anyway.
For HDMI, i read somewhere, that it is now working for the neo in CM7 but i have to check that again.

i used Pureness for quite a while (version 11) and want to give it another try, as i was not on .587 and BB 77 as ThilinaC writes in the install instructions.
The performance was good after reboot, but it slowed down quite fast. I know he writes that i should restart my phone once a day, but i don't like this as a permanent solution. With Polish Blood i used the phone for a week, and it was almost as fast as it was after the boot. But well the one is ICS and the other JB, i know (although CM10 was not really fast compared to Polish Blood)...
If JellySandwich and Ultimate HD become laggy after some time of usage too, i will go back to GB or just restart my phone every day
Is there a ROM that just removes bloatware, add a few build.prop tweaks, is supercharged and uses the JB Adreno drivers?
So basically what is described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749215

I tried it for a couple of days, and i must say the multitasking build is really fast, even after a few days without reboot. The only problem is, that i can't play games like temple run because it lags as hell (even with the games build), only after fresh reboot it runs smooth for a while. But as playing games is not so important, i might stick to that rom, just want to try out a few others before.
ah ok because I do not really react with the mobile games so no idea how to play it.
sorry for my english must always write only in German and translated via google leave.

Ok found JJ's Hybrid ROM and it is just awesome! Pure AOSP feeling without the bugs that non sony-based roms have (ie bad touchscreen) but also not the problems that many sony-based roms have (slow phone, contacts, etc apps). It is not as fast as some other roms and the app drawer lags sometimes, but it is still fast enough (after a few hours of usage, just after the first boot it feels laggy for an hour or two) and the pure aosp ui is unbeatable smooth imo.
So, great rom, i can just recommend it!

If you're on a stock rom it's normal that your ray isn't smooth and doesn't auto flash. Sony (in my opinion and many, many others) failed to develop a good ice cream sandwich(android 4.0.x) update. My ray isn't smooth either. They surely added some great new features and improvements compared to gingerbread(android 2.3.x), but the speed, smoothness and so on aren't what they are supposed to be. If this realy bothers you, you can downgrade your ray back to gingerbread, use a custom rom or install some tweaks that improves speed etc. But to do this your phone must be rooted. Further i don't think there's much you can do
The absence of auto-flash is normal because, well, to be precise, our Rays only have torches which are either on or off. So basically when you want to enlighten your environment during picture taking the only option you have is to just turn on that damned lantern and blind everyone unfortunate enough to be there

You're from Bangladesh?
If you bought the phone a week ago, you should be using GB, not ICS.
Flash it to ICS and root.
And if you want it to be really smooth, use custom roms.
And Ray doesn't have a flash, just an LED.

From your last post, look like you know some stuff so I assume you're on techy side of wildfire user.
But the ICS 4.0.4 for Ray is official from Sony and it's run pretty good, there's no reason to stay with GB. You should try update to .587 before trying anything else, large chance there's no need for anything else but newer stock rom from Sony. Do the update as Sony instruction first.

ICS .587 and Rooting Done ! now what for make my phone speedy...i don't need ICS
Hello all, I am a new Xperia U user. My parents bought me one on Saturday. I have some basic knowledge about Android as I was a Nook Color boy earlier...
Q1. Now I have unlocked its bootloader, and I have installed KASpeed ROM v3 and the KA Speed Kernel v 6.1. I initially had WIFI issues but I fixed 'em. Now the KA Speed Kernel is overclockable, if I am right. So could somebody please tell me how to do so (overclock). I tried many apps (setcpu, no frills CPU control) but all of them say my max clock speed is 1000 MHz only while the kernel promises 1.15 GHz. Help!
Q2. I have installed flashtool successfully and I can flash kernels using fastboot but I cant seem to flash .ftf packages using flashmode ( green LED mode). Whenever I try to do so it says " reading header file" and suddenly "flash aborted"
Q3. Is it possible to make a CWM flashable zip from a .ftf package. I have seen videos of some aIUP.exe or something, I tried but doesn't work.
Any other method?
EDIT= Q4. How do I turn off my LED bar in the Music Player? I don't see any such option in LEDs U CTRL app. So please help///
My Phone's info for reference-
Model - ST 25i
Android - 2.3.7
ROM - KA03 Xperia SSpeed
Kernel- 2.6.35.7 SSpeed Kernel
THANKS
I'm no expert in XPERIA U, but I have XPERIA P and I think will get much less complications if you update your XPERIA U to ICS first.
about Q2 it might be a driver problem..
and Q3 I saw some kernels which are flashable by CWM but I have no idea about creating them
Much more roms and tweaks are available to XPERIA U with ICS than with Gingerbread, you should update and than start customizing your XPERIA

Hi !
I wan't to know which firmware is the best for XPERIA U..
Lots of people using .54 but why ? Why they don't use the newest .89 ?
Please tell me which firmware is the best for Xperia U and why ...
Thanks
Gingerbread
After trying many ICS rom's and the newest JB rom i have came back to GB firmware, its the fastest rom avaliable for XU, and has no lags in phone/calls, iam using the GB-ROCKS V3 and after deleted all the bloatware (i really dont know why make a rom with bloatware, but thats ok...) and install all basic app (whatsapp, facebook, facebook messenger, cerberus, maps, poweramp youtube ....)i have 200mb+ free on boot, and everthing is really fast (REALLY FAST if you use ICS you will fell the diference) so if want a functional phone, go for GB-ROCKS v3 or other GB rom (184 fw).
now iam trying just to find a kernel with overclock to make it even faster
obs: right now i was driving using navigator, poweramp, and received a call without any lag and that was a impossible task in ICS
For me 89...but maybe jb port for xu much better if all fixed..

I've recompiled Bionic libc with using modern routines(memcpy(),memcmp(),strlen(),strcmp(), etc.) for our arch.
That libs raise memory and floating performance.
I think, it could be useful for someone,so sharing it now.
How to install:flash via CWM.
This libs compatible with ICS,theoretically they should work on any ICS ROM,but I tested them only on stock ICS ROM with stock .54 kernel and on Owl kernel.
Notice:Those libs integrated into Owl kernel,no need to flash that again.

I can say, it really works, is a little bit less laggy but you can still notice the difference. It will not make the phone faster, but it helps a lot to have it less laggy. Tested on my Xperia U st25a .100 ICS Stock bootloader locked.
the phone runs without any lags now
