[Q] How does internal card work on I9300 - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. I was once flashing a new ROM and after it my internal sdcard was wiped. That got me upset but 2 days later i was browsing my /data partition. I remembered that internal SDcard files are stored on /data/media... So i decided to open that and i found all my lost files there... So here comes my question - How does that actually work? How come my files stored on /data/media (sdcard) but dont apear at /storage/emulated/0 or /storage/sdcard0 or /sdcard? ( they all seem like sdcard to me Shouldnt it be the same?) Thanks in advance for any help

Via windows use GOOGLE if you dont know how to format .
You don't actually say you have installed CWM recovery if you have flash it again .
Beginner read the stickied faqs and guides first is easier than reading after you brick your phone .

Storage full - but with what?

Hey everyone!
I thought maybe some of you could help me with this. I'm on XXUFME3 and I have a weird problem with the internal storage. I have only 3 GB left but I don't know what fills up so much of the storage as the Storage in Settings shows in the chart I haven't used this much space.

If you've flashed ME3 coming from a 4.1.2. rom without a wipe, then all your things remain at the old 4.1.2. mount points. 4.2 has new mount points and generally a wipe is required when switching.
Hej, JJ, try to be of help for once, would you? It's better to help them with their problems and then suggest where they should post the next time. It's in the rules, but I bet you knew that.
Please read link in my signature about 4.2 and sdcard

Maybe Glebun hacked his account
It's offline cache of cloud service/dropbox
Change your settings in: accounts/cloud/video-audio-picture sync.

Hi guys,
I´m bumping this old thread because i have the same problem than the OP. I´ve search around for a while, but haven´t found any way to fix it.
As it happenned to the OP, my internal memory is full, but i´m not using nearly half of it.
What can i do about this?
I´m running temasek unofficial CM11 build v36. Did i full wipe before flashing it.
Thanks in advance for your time,
Walter

Go to /data/media with a root explorer you should see 3 folders:
0
legacy
obb
If there are any other folders beside the three above copy them to 0 folder leaving the three above..

Hey Tallman43, thanks for your answer.
This is how my internal memory looks like:
As you can see, inside data there is no media folder, just a bunch of app folders.
Im still a bit unclear on what to do

Unfortunately, i can´t move all the folders, as i don´t have enough space in the internal storage (the irony...) Many of the folders are duplicate btw, so i´m just trying to overwrite them.
I´ve tried two times, but at the second attempt the OS crashed and the phone got rebooted.
Any other ideas?
Thanks for your help btw, very kind of you!

Did you just backed up user apps + data? I guess after formatting you had to flash the ROM again, right?
What do you think caused me this problem? Could have been because i restored system apps and data from my Titanium backup?

Yep had to reflash but it's worth it for the space it freed up Its the new folder structure on 4.3 RootSu has a thread about it that explains everything.
Alright i´m looking into the thread now, thanks for the tip!

I´m looking into this solution. Could you explain how you copied all the internal content into the PC, and what was it that you restored back?
Do you have to to any special format or create any partitions after it´s clean?
Thanks!
I have been manually deleting folders from /data/media. I actually had a lot of data from old apps, and also all my old pictures, whatsapp pics etc...
I don´t understand how this can still be in the phone after several full wipes.
Is it any better way to wipe everything from the root folder and internal memory so i can flash the new rom with a completely clean phone?
would format in cwm do the trick?

[Q] A Quick Question?

Hey guy i have a problem with my (STORAGE). I am running Cynogenmod 10.2.0 (Version 4.3.1) Flashed through TWRP (Latest Version).
In (STORAGE) there are (4 Folders) named:
- emulated
- sdcard0
- sdcard1
- usbdisk0
In (EMULATED) there are 2 other folders named:
- legacy
- 0
In (SDCARD0) I can see my files but there are no files in (SDCARD1)
In the (LEGACY) folder there are the same files which were in sdcard0.
In the (0) folder there are same files but with a (DOWNLOAD) folder in it.
How can make it simple all like (SDCARD0) like it was in stock rom? Another problem is i cannot move files somtimes via PC or Any File Manager.
The file structure is different for 4.2 onwards. I believed u flashed it from a 4.1.2 rom? Maybe stock? Look at the link. It will describe everything. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2274218

[Q] Can't see / access all of my sD card?

After I formatted my SD Card due to a write protected file I couldn't delete (I backed up every file on the SD card except the write protected file then pasted them back onto the sd card), I go into 'My Files' then All Files it shows 2 options: SD card and Internal Storage.
When I go into SD Card, it shows the directory "/storage/extSdCard", but where is the sdcard0 directory? So I can access all files & apps etc
Also I've noticed that when I view a large app (GTA SA) in the application manager the option to move to sd card is greyed out. This isn't because I'm running out of storage, I've got around 27GB free.
Man this is annoying

Weird way to respond. If you can't be bothered to help yourself then you'll have to learn to live with it.
