Hi. So I have an Lg Optimus G e970 from Att. Its runing stock 4.1.2, rooted (using CurrentRoot.bat) and has an unlocked bootloader (using freegee from the app store), the problem is that when the device is turned off it will not charge, I get the charging screen (where the bettery appears) for a few seconds, then just a blank screen. So it does not charge, and the screen remains on. Any ideas?
when the device is turned on I have no charging problems at all.
I had the same problem..i wont charge when switched off..Now using rootbox and everything working fine.
If memory doesnt fail me, all rooted devices do this. While theyre off the battery logo will appear for a while go out and then the backlight will stay on. if you touch the unlock button the battery will appear again. Are you using wall charger or travel charger? Are they original devices?, could be a voltage problem

Hold down screen lock button and down volume button for about 20 seconds and then the light should turn off. It should turn on, the phone, or you can put it on by hold the screen lock button.
do this while plugged into the wall, not usb
I wish it was that easy,I try holding power nd volume up then down and vice versa to no avail. I also have my phone plug into my wall charger. If anyone helps me get my phone turn on and charge I will donate to your PayPal asap.

Try a different USB cable and plug it into a USB port on the computer. This isolates the USB and the Moto charger to make sure they're not the cause.

Try holding both vol up and down together, then hold the power button, so 3 buttons are pressed at the same time, and hope something happens.
Any of this end up working for ya?

The white led means you're out of battery and conected but not charging. This happend due a rom flash error.
You'll need a Factory Cable to put a new firmware on it and then charge after that

If you got it from Verizon you still have manufacturer warranty, return it.
Had this problem myself, white light, couldn't charge, tried every trick there was. With stock cable, this is how I got my phone to charge:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qs2t-7ALT7U
Phone so sharp, I sliced myself.
I got this many times when trying to charge my phone via USB on my laptop.
I held vol up/down and the power button like Nikorasu recommended and the light disappeared and the phone gave me the "DUAL CORE TECHNOLOGY" screen, looked as if it was going to turn on and then the light turned back on and the screen went back to black.
*UPDATE*
I left the phone plugged in for a long time and I came back to see the white light off and the phone *on* and charging. How nice.

Plugging it into the usb port of a laptop is not enough. I've had cases where I plug my phone to the computer to transfer files and the battery level actually dropped.
Use the Razr charger.
Thanks!!!
I didn't know this handy reset feature, until my razr froze and turned into a paperweight for the rest of the evening.
(thought maybe I wrecked it with some new 'root only' apps)
The reset worked great and runs fine.
Only get Motorola logo after 3 hours of charging
Hi,
I'm new to Droid Razr's and I have a Maxx that is doing this. I tried the (volume +/-, then plug in) option and phone has stayed on Motorola screen for a few hours. No go on the charging screen. Not sure if the Maxx I got has other issues. I've used a motorola usb/wall adapter and a Motorola MicroUSB from a Droid X dock that is supposed to be a faster charger.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Victor
My Maxx is in a similar situation. When I plug it in the Motorola dual core screen comes on and then it goes to the safe system screen where it asks you to touch menu to enter safestrap or search to skip. After touching either button the screen just goes black. Sometimes when I plug it in it will show a red battery at 0% then immediately jump to 5% and then after a moment or two it shows a blue battery at 100% but still won't turn on... When I plug it into my laptop though the screen stays black and the white led is on. Do I need a factory cable to fix this or what? Thanks in advance for any help.

Maybe it is the battery issue. You can try to replace the battery.

Exactly! ...I have this phone and the EXACT same charge problem, white light, phone dead has happened multiple times. My galaxy s3 charger won't fix it....no other usb charger works. Every time I must use all oem chargers and I solve my problem. Why? I believe it is because the razr maxx's larger battery uses a slightly higher charge voltage. (5.1v vs. 4.5 v to be exact) ...look at the charger specs. After leaving on the oem charger for some time, it never fails to boot.
New issue ..
Today i didn't have a charger with me so phone drained completely. Now it no matter how long i charge it it will not boot right.
This is what it is doing, two kind of behaviors:
1, when it is plugged into an outlet screen remain slightly lit, able to boot into bootloader, able to boot into recovery (once phone turned off itself in recovery..). when trying to boot into android phone hangs on LG loading screen and LG loading screen disappear as soon as unplug the phone from the outlet . LED light remain off while plugged in, it should be lit when being charged.
2, when it is plugged into a computer phone seems to boot itself, LG logo flashing on and off quickly seeming like bootloop.
I have flashed the rom again it didnt help.
Edit 1: fixed by factory restore

CWM supports charging your battery, so use the strongest charger you have (spec is 2amp charger) and leave it there for a few hours. the reason it flips on usb connection is because most usb is only 0.5 amp or maybe 1amp if you're lucky.
You should be ok gotta be patient though.

Yea you just have to leave the charger in for a while..mine did this...but you can also try this
Unplug the charger hold down the power button of 15sec and then put the charger back in (the red light should come on)
Then the screen will show the LG logo about two times and then the battery charging logo
And just give it a minute or two and power it up
The LG charger is 1.2a

The title says it all. My brothers Note 2 will only boot past the Galaxy Note 2 boot screen if it is connected to the charger. It doesn't matter if it is a USB or wall charge. If the phone is connected to a power source it boots into the system fine, however, once you remove it from the power source it turns off. I was wondering if it could be a bad battery but the charge is showing it at almost 80%. Has anyone ran into something like this before? If I try to boot the phone without it being connected, it sits at the Note 2 screen for about 15 seconds and then shuts itself off.
I'm not really sure but it sounds like the internals of the battery are closing up (shorting). Are you able to get another battery to test and see if it is the battery?

Having same issues
Seems it hardware plus software issue.
Running 4.1.1 Jelly Bean
Happened after installing few games .
Goes in constant boot loop
Can start by attaching power cord only to socket.
With USB attached to Laptop .. still goes in loop
Powerbank is workaround.
Seems to reboot when saving to sd card ..
Will keep posted

The problem, after getting a stock image back on the phone, ended up being a bad battery. The phone wouldn't hold a charge even though the charging image showed otherwise. Once you get a working image on there, try replacing the battery. I ordered an eight dollar cheapo battery from Amazon and it worked like a charm.

I second this. My phone went down Saturday. Thought it was something with CyanogenMod 11, but flashing back to stock did nothing. Replaced the battery, haven't had any problems since.

Thats first thing i did .. checked different battery ..
Battery is fine .. its not battery issue .. atleast in my case ..
i checked for SDS .. my phone has no SDS insane bug either .. though symptoms were same .
I have backup phone, using it.
I showed for mobile repair.
Said he will solve it .
So plan to take tomorrow.
I can root and all..
But after this booting dont want to brick it ..
So plan to do it via the mobile repair shop
Had same issue. Solved after replace the battery.
I have the same issue right now as well. I was on stock for awhile and used casual one click method, switched between a few roms. Than it started happening after that. So I flashed back to stock on odin and still have that issue. Havent figured it out yet.

I have had this issue and replacing the battery did the trick. I was having issues with the battery beforehand. once the battery showed as being at 17% the phone would start the reboot cycle and not fully boot until it was plugged in.
Have same problem here.....All these started when I replaced my bulge battery. New battery doesn't hold power below 20%. Phone goes off in boot cycle until plugged in a charger
Try to boot on USB/PC data connection
When connected t PC-system will boot to a point. PC indicates new connection then looses it and Note 2 returns to flash screen. Problem start when using corporate email and encrypted data. Works w/o error connected to wall charger. Disconnect crashes system. Flashes screen forever. No diagnostics. Did all SW reboots. Doubt battery, but will try.

Did you ever test a new battery/figure it out?
Mine is doing the same thing I think. I only boots if connected to a wall charger. If connected to PC with USB it will boot to the [T-Mobile in my case] boot screen, connect to PC for a split second (long enough to make the connection sound in windows, then I can't find it) and it stays on that screen. Without being connected to either, or after pulling plug, it turns off.
Same problem here with mine
can't be just the battery because it will stay on w/o charger when in download/recovery mode or if it gets stuck on the Verizon screen.

I'm having the same issue but i can boot into recovery without the charger.
My phone's battery just died while charging. No idea how it happened, but apparently it wasn't charging at all, even though it displayed a charging icon.
Now it's turned off and it won't charge. When I plug it in, it turns on, displays the screen with the big battery, as usual, but only for a few short seconds. Then it turns itself on, even though it has no power, and shuts itself down immediately after it turns on, meaning it never charges. Then it goes t the big battery screen again, then turns itself on etc. and this goes in a circle for all eternity.
What do I do? I have no battery charger and I don't have any friends with a SGS3
(I'm running UltimaROM 17.1, in case that's related, which it might be, since I jut flashed it yesterday morning.)

You say you plug it and this happens? But what do you plug in when you wrote this: "I have no battery charger and.." ?
The battery could be dead or maybe it is also the dock connector! I don't know. FIrst buy a new battery. It's not a big deal
Or you try to search for someone who has an S3 and try it out
Good luck!
I meant I have a charger for my phone, like with a USB cable, but I don't own a charger that only charges batteries. Thanks for the quick reply, but I fixed it already. It wouldn't boot to recovery because the battery was completely empty, but with some fast finger-work I managed to plug it in and get it to boot to recovery before the battery screen. Since recovery doesn't use up battery as much, it started charging without shutting down and it's fine now

Hi guys,
Yesterday, I have encountered a strange problem with my S3. I was using CM 12- Beta 1. I had a strange bug with charging. Unless I enable unstable charging power, the charging rate falls down to 100mA. So, I have used @JustArchi's ArchiKernel ( @Moster2's build ) for LP. I have used kernels like Archi Kernel, Boeffla Kernel with unstable charging power enabled since past few months and had no problems previously.
I, then kept my phone for charging and when I saw it after 5-10 min, a charging animation with 0% battery shown up and the device got hot. I took off the charger and tried to switch on but it didn't work. I'm only able to switch on the device when it is connected to charger. But, it got stuck at Samsung logo. I have quickly entered the download mode and flashed a stock rom via odin.
I'm trying to switch on while charger is connected but the phone keeps on switching off at Samsung logo or even before the appearance of Samsung logo. When I left it for charging, the same thing started happening. Charging animation shows up and suddenly it becomes like a dead phone and restarts again to show up charging animation. Once, I was able to get past the boot screen to Samsung's lock screen but it switched off within fraction of seconds. What could be the problem? Is this an end to my S3? Please help me to find out the problem.

Can't tell you. It may be that, or your battery simply ended it's life. Nobody will assure you that unstable charging is secure, moreover, under certain circumstances it may NOT be secure.
