I finally kickstarted my dead Galaxy Tab P7510 by keeping my finger on the touchscreen and holding down the Power Button. But this has got me to a screen with the Green Man and a message in yellow writing " --Wiping Data... Formatting /Data... ". I cant get any further than this, I am stuck on this screen (unless I press Vol Up+Power Button very briefly when the yellow writing disappears and the cogs in the Green Man start working).
I guess the Tab needs to be re-flashed from the PC using Odin (a procedure im pretty familiar with as ive done it with my SG2 phone many times). But how do I get the Tab to Download Mode to commence the process. Ive tried to get it into Recovery Mode via Vol Down+Power and Vol Up + Power and all the combinations I can think of, but this isnt getting me anywhere.
(So long as I can get the Tab into the Download Mode I would like to know which firmware I should flash. Can I go straight in with Cyanogenmod 10.1 or do I need to start with something more basic?)
If you know how to get into the bootloader i.e. the 2 icons screen, just press the volume up button twice. I would recommend flashing stock ICS first before cm10.1 if you haven't. If you have, then feel free to flash any ROM you want after installing a custom recovery.

By flashing via Odin with a stock rom, you'll loose CWM. You have to flash CWM again to get it back. But as you described it, you can't even get into Recovery mode (blue Samsung recovery screen with HOME+Power button combo)?
^^

If u can't get to recovery mod then flash a new firmware from sammobile via Odin

I had this problem also.
I reloaded a new stock rom from sam and loaded it with odin, after the install I turned the phone on with the power button + the home button and did a factory reset and wipe catch.
And that worked.
u need to hold the power button + home button till you get in the menu.
I came from cm7.1 and went to stock rom 2.3.5.
Hope get it. Otherwise post your steps from which rom you came.

when phone is off, hold power button and home button in the same time.
when the phone is showing samsung, you can release the power button, but keep hold the home button until recovery menu showed
I was wondering if there was a way of going back to the stock recovery from CWM? I have rooted my prime and unlocked the boot loader. Was wondering if I needed to return the tab if someone noticed CWM that they may give me a problem returning.
if you mean returning to a store, they will never check the recovery, probably would only check that it boots at all if even that

Ok, thanks
Wrong actually. Use the method to downgrade to any of the Asus releases - using dd on the blob file, that overwrites the recovery with the stock one
I have to do this when going back to stock from CM9 since the kernel doesn't flash. I have to re-root and re-flash CWM each time since the blob method overwrites system, boot, recovery, and maybe one or two other things

I am not sure of the full ramifications of doing the blob thing over anything other than the stock rom. You will want to find the thread in the dev section that talks about loading any version of the stock rom that you want.
i believe applying a official blob file after being unlocked/cwm'ed will get you a bricked Prime. i hope none of you have a brick these days.
Hey guys.. I'm trying not to start a new thread if I can help it as I'm sure my answer is here somewhere.. but ...
Can't seem to boot into recovery. I installed CWM using the viper tool and got successful messages but button combo doesn't work to enter recovery. Nor does Rom Manager work to reboot recovery. I've also tried flashing recovery via RM and got successful but still unable to boot into CWM. Tried installing touch recovery via RM.. got succesfull, and it even says what my current recovery is but no matter what I try I am unable to boot into CWM.
I feel like its not installed but according to RM my current recovery is 5.8.x.x
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

I had a lot of problems when I was on the non-touch version of CWM. It would do the button combo correctly but it would only boot to recovery about one time in five. Very frustrating, but it got a lot better when I chanced to touch CWM for some reason.
Gotta ask this but are you doing the button combo correctly? When you press power + vol down do you see the white text telling you that you have bot 5 sec to press vol up? When you press vol up, what happens? When I was having problems with this I would see the white text, press vol up then the screen would go black for about 10 sec then it would reboot.

That's part of the problem.. I have no idea if I'm doing the button combo right because nothing is happening. I've tried pressing power button and vol down until I see text.. never shows though. I feel a buzz or vibrate but no text so i continue holding down buttons until eventually i realize I've been holding the buttons down for a really long time and it's time to accept its not working so I let go. Ive also tried just pressing volume down..(thought I read that somewhere).. nothing ever happens but a buzz or vibrate. No text ever appear.
btw, thank you for the reply! you have no idea how many times I tried yesterday/last night. I'm up an atom, and back at it.. beats me though..

Unfortunately I don't have my Prime in front of me since I am at work so I'll see if I can remember . From power off press the power button until it vibrates, release it then quickly press and hold power and vol down. When you are on the Eee Pad splash screen you should some text at the top left saying that you have 5 sec to press vol up to enter RCK (or something...). Release and press vol up and you should be in.
Hit my thanks button if it works. If not, this is beyond my limited capabilities and you should find someone more knowledgeable Good luck!

Hey guys,
I'm attempting to fix a friends Galaxy ace as I have dealt with other android phones but i'm an Ace noobie. The problem started when the phone booted straight into recovery mode with a system/CSC error of some sort. The volume keys work to highlight an option but the home key does not respond to select the option.
I used ODIN to re-flash and everything went smoothly until it finished and it booted straight back into recovery mode but with no CSC error this time.
The home button still does not respond and a hard reset by taking out the battery just ends up with the phone booting back into recovery mode.
Do you reckon the home button is actually screwed? Or is there something more.
Thanks in advance!

Afaik home won't work in recovery

I assumed thats how you select the highlighted option?
Either way the phone keeps booting into recovery and i'm stumped :/
It is how you select he must have misunderstanded you
I have never heard of a prob like this I recon this is tha button but devs like nims, spacecaker could probobly tell if this is a soft error
GOOD LUCK
Try downloading another stock rom and flas that through odin. I think there was aproblem when you were flashing the csc
Galaxy ace X Miracle V2.
So I decided to go ahead and root my player. Then I found this custom rom and followed their instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517194
It keeps on bootlooping my device, and even though installed steves kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377771
(which contains CWM) I cannot boot CWM recovery from boot.
It booted up a few times in CWM recovery, but now it doesnt want to. Since then ive tryed flashing steves kernal sveral times to see if I can get it to work. It hasn't.
I really just want to get my device back to stock, I have a stock rom but it still gets stuck in a bootloop.
Help!
Can you get into download mode?

I figued out how to get into recovery mode (power button + hold up volume). Now to figure out how to fix the bootloop....(I tried followign th instructions here but to no avail: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1660596)
FIXED
OK i managed to fix my own problem. I installed steves kernel, cleared the cash and the dalvik-cache. Then I flashed the stock rom and wiped all data(reset the factory settings) and then cleared the cashe.
Then my device booted up properly. :good:
Glad to hear you fixed it

You get into Clockwork mod by turning off the device. Then Hold power, Volume up, and the settings (the one to the left of the home button) at the same time. Sometimes you have to let go when the samsung logo appears and then hold it again

could you give more incorrect info, the CORRECT steps for entering CWM (or stock if not using a custom kernel) is to power device completely off, wait for the vibrate to indicate shutdown. Then press and hold volume up and the power button, once the samsung logo comes on release only the power button, do not release the volume up, continue holding volume up until CWM loads.

On my 4.0 US I don't hold the volume any longer than the power button to get into CWM--i.e., I let both go at the samsung logo, and it goes in.

That's how I always entered CWM or the stock one lol. It works for me. Also another way I did it was wait until the samsung logo appears and then hold power + volume up at the same time. I didn't let go of either the power button or volume up button, and just waited for it to come on.
Next time for a better result Go to a stock rom and Flash a kernel with odin. best way to Install CWM perfectly.
like Terra Silet, i have Gplayer 4 and Rooted This Kernel One Milion time
Guys my S3 was working really fine. I updated OTA while on root. Now it won't turn on
I flashed the latest ICS Firmware XXBLH1 via Odin.
The first flash went as it should be. Odin made it a "Pass"
But when the flashing was over the Recovery Mode came and came there written
E:/ Write failed or something like that.
It didn't boot up as usual
Tried another flash... Still nothing... but this time the Recovery Mode didn't show up and at first it used to go to the "SAMSUNG" logo. But now it just gets stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy SIII GT-i9300"
PLEASE I NEED SOME EXPERT OPINION RIGHT NOW. I THINK I JUST WASTED MY MONEY!
Bump!
Try getting into recovery by pressing volume up+ home button + power and do a data wipe.
