I have just got this phoen today. I have rooted it using this method I have installed cm 10.1 and for some reason my battery is draining really fast. I have all the radio disabled, as well as brightness and sync have been turned off. I would say from fully charge my phone is drained flat in like 5 hours. I have tried SiyahKernel v6.0b5 and performance x mod, but for some reason i dont think they have any effect. Please help many thanks
Get of siyah and install dorimanx 9.Xx as soon as you can. Don't use siyah with cm as may kill your phone. I seen it happen on here before

Thanks for the heads up. What are the best settings to use with dorimanx 9xx and cm 10.1
Stock for two days at least then drop by -25 a time then test for two days if ok drop again -25. Do the group test in stweaks to see what group your on. 1 is bad 4 is good. Don't worry to much about that as I'm group 1 and I can Uv by -50 and no sleep of death at all. You can reset stweak settings in cwm recovery that comes with dori if it go's bad. Fool proof really. Just don't drop to quick as all s2 are different.

Also get better battery stats and keep an eye on what's running in the background to save even more. To be honest cm is not that good for battery but it can be with tweaking

or you can use the kangbang kernel since in my opinion is better with cm10.1 but you have to enable zzmove and row in setcpu Its just my opinion and if it still drains try to instal the latest cm10.1 nightly with full wipe ( wipe data, cache, dalvik ) and instal battery stats program to monitor your drain

Thanks for the tips guys, ill try them all out and let you know. The problem with the battery is that it would ddrain from 100% to about 57%,roughtly about 1% every 3 minutes. When the battery is at 53%, if the phone is turned off or reset, the battery would be at 20% or 14%, then battery needs charging message comes up about 10 minutes later
Try disabling cLock weather geolocalization. When i was on CM10.1 it was the main cause of high battery drain.

I recently just flashed the latest Siyah Kernel. I notice that my 'Display is 75%' on battery. My brightness settings is already set to manual its on 20%? whats wrong?
and is it normal after flashing a kernel, will my battery rapidly decrease cause current its down to 80% from 100% for only 2 hours. Im not a heavy user.
no its not atleast not for me... what rom are u using? are u sure there isnt any apps that is draining ur phone? are u sure ur phone goes to deep sleep?
use there apps to check:
betterbatterystats (wakelocks)
cpu spy (deep sleep)
currently im using stock rom 2.3.6. gonna try out those two apps now

yes my battery does go into deep sleep.
for wakelocks.
there are alot of android system apps that has a count of more than 300 -.-
so what do i do?
You let your phone run for 8-10 hrs (overnight, after a period of use, etc) then you have a look @ wakelocks in BBS. 10 minutes isn't going to tell you anything.
I'm also using Siyah 2.6.13 & am having no problems whatsoever.
Edit to add - Also read the BetterBatteryStats thread, particularly the first 20/last 20 pages. Once you've read the thread & let you phone run for that 8-10 hrs, you'll be able to ask in the thread what details/screenshots you'll need to post in order for the guys who post regularly in the thread to help you. They're the experts, far more likely to get the help you need doing it this way.

I am currently having some issues with Siyah kernal on Wanam's ICS rom. battery drain is significantly higher for some reasons. I also had a lot of FC and reboot freeze, cpu profilers such as setcpu will crash the phone etc. I also noticed the same thing for the 2.3.5 roms onwards.
anyway my personal experience at the moment. I am reverting back to the leaked ICS kernel until the kernel can be sorted.

Siyah doesn't support any ICS ROMs. Says so right at the top of the first post of the Siyah thread.
EDIT: looks like GohkanMoral recently (like TODAY) posted on his website about an alpha version of Siyah that supports ICS... but it's not released yet, and it IS an alpha.
Hello folks..I've installed Resurrection Rom V1.0 after using the stock unrooted 2.3.4 Gingerbread.
Firstly i don't see any issues with the Rom itself, everything seems to be working as it should.
But despite having seen an improvement on standby battery consumption, when i'm using the phone, even the slightest of use with screen on,i have around 1-2% battery drop per minute, which is much more than before upgrading..Display settings are at minimum brightness, lowest screen timeout, removed any sound/vibration when using phone..Is this consumption normal or am i doing something wrong?FYI,in battery usage there isn't any app using a lot of battery other from Display..
Thanks in advance.

According to CPU Spy my phone's going in deep sleep..I've installed Juice Defender to achieve better battery life when the phone is awake, but i didn't see much difference..The main problem occurs when the phone is awake. That's when i see 1-2% drop each minute i'm using the phone.I thought that ICS battery usage was improved when using the phone ,not only in standby..
Juice Defender wont help it will only cause more wakelocks. Try flashing syiah kernel beta 7 and then undervolt it using set cpu or voltage control. The battery life in ics isnt very good yet just like it was in 2.3.3. I imagine it will get better. You say you loose 1 to 2 percent when the screen is on, thats not a issue of deep sleep. your best bet is to try undervolting which will improve your battery life.
had the same issue with that rom so i just switched to GB again
now im getting lot of battery juice
cheers-

I've flashed siyah kernel beta 6,but didn't mess with voltage..I tried beta7,didn't got it to boot after updating..One last question..In order to undervolt through set cpu or voltage control do i need to tamper with init.d settings?
no.... just undervolt and it will save u battery, use noop and conservative for your governor.
I installed Voltage Control but it doesn't show any options for undervolting and no conservative governor either..Clearly i'm missing something..
By the way, since i'm new to custom roms..Got any idea if CM9 is better on battery life?
yes it is a asop rom though, meaning its not based off of samsung, so vedio recording dosnt work yet. If you can loose that then i would try a asop rom. My favourite was Hydrogen Rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530179
It mixes cm9 and AOKP for the best of both worlds, when u was using it i was getting amazing battery life. Also AOKP lets you customize the rom and its really really cool.
Summing it all up i would go for Hydrogen if you dont need the vedio camera!!
Thanks for all the info mate!!
I guess i'm gonna try them all and see...The only thing i might miss is the samsung app store, since in my country it had a lot of great deals and free games/apps..
No problem, and you can download the samasung app store. apk store on google probably and put it on your sd card and then just install it and i would assume it would work, worth a try!

I can't thank you enough mate!I was just looking around for hydrogen rom, seems very nice..I'll try it and the Samsung app too and later in the day i'll give you an update!
Thanks again for all the help!
It seems i'll be sticking with CM9 after all,for some reason Hydrogen seem to hang now matter how many clean installs i did..I found the Samsung Apps workaround, but not with the apk you provided(thanks anyway).
There's a solution i found.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1561384 and it works like a treat..!
Good to hear. create a backup of your cm9 rom then flash hrdrogen stright over it with no wipe. that should work! if not restore from backup
Hey.
I have recently become a victim of this issue. The issue is my phone becomes unreliable before 50% charge mark. It reboots at any given time as long as it is down to less than 50%. I am currently running leaked LSJ with Philz Kernel. I have bought a new battery and it is giving the same results so if anyone has any sort of suggestion please post em. I am really worried about my phone right now.
Thanks.

As far as i know Philz Kernel has some issue. I am on stock 4.1.2 not rooted, i had battery drain issue. i did following to control the battery drain, so far 24+hrs with 3hr on display:
1. use phone till it shuts off and no battery even to poweron, then charge it to 100% (experience from ICS 4.0.4)
2. settings -> wifi -> advanced -> network notification - uncheck (came across in one of the thread in general section)
3. disabled google now and auto sync + other usual battery saving tips
hope this helps.
Time to go Stock and see if the issue remains, just for kicks to see if your dealing with a faulty chip. Then you can flash philz again.
I would flash the JB leak stock kernel and calibrate your battery with BatteryCalibration app ( that's what i did and i'm on 88 % 15 hs 45 mins)
For the draining problem you can look into this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2016419
try this app and follow the instructions given in this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=en
reset battery gauge
try resetting you battery fuel gage. install an ew kernel and reset uor battery meter this should solve the isse unless your battery has some discharge issues.

You cant because Siyah and Dorimanx don't support xxlsj firmware jet, just Philz for now.
EDIT: Sory for the misleading Dorimanx support it half, see this post
Do not use battery calibration app or reset furl gauge, best way I reckon is this method:

ho to all i've bought an used s2 that has a problem with the battery. it drains very fast, even with al services disabled. i've bought a brand new samsung battery and also a non original battery with more mha, but the phone discharges always very fast. i'v try to recalibrate the battery with no results...i've last cyanogen rom on it
try change ROM or kernel
Wich rom and kernel do you suggest me
My suggestion:
1. check your battery stats and google fixes to apps that drain ur battery
2. install greenify
3. install custom roms, my suggestion: slimsaber + dorimanx
Whats dorimanx

Dorimanx is a kernel, not a rom.
I ve seen that slimsaber is like a beta not a stable version righe?

Hi, I have got very same problem! I spent like last two years with trying different ROMs. I tried CM, Omega, NeatROM,... but never found one ROM which will not drain battery so quickly...
My girlfriend has got Alcatel OT6010 which has got similar specs as S2 and her phone lasts for 4 days! if she is not on internet all the time. Mine with new extended battery, lasts maximum 2 days max. I am really dissapointed about that
Therefore I would like to ask someone whether he/she can recommend some stable (not alpha or beta) ROM with Android 4.1 or above. Different Kernel is also welcome.
I am looking forward for any help on this!

Since you've tested many roms already, the problem could be caused by old circuitry on the phone. My phone last for 2 days max without using it too, although choosing the right kernel for you could slightly increase battery life (e.g dorimanx or apolo). In terms of stability, cyanogenmod is never perfect, don't use slimsaber, neat rom was quite stable for me, paranoid android was ok, never tried cyan fox, PAC rom isn't going to be updated for a while and is nightlies only, carbon rom is nightlies only. So yeah, just go with neat rom or paranoid android (stable)or cm11 (and wait for next snapshot).
Can i use paranoid with dorimanx?
I haven't had any problems so far with slim saber.
Have you tried the app 'Greenify' yet? It can hibernate apps that drain battery in background.
Another suggestion: Tasker app
Create profiles that for example turn on / off mobile data.
2 days battery life, that's epic for the s2..I get 1 day max at the mo ...and never had much more on any ROM/kernal
phantomEVO said:

Yeah you can. You just need to check what version of dorimanx you install.
There is one for ics/jelly bean and one for kitkat.
And depending on what version of s2 you have you need to check what rom you install. Not sure if dorimanx is available for i9100g
By the way in terms of battery drainage I faced the same problem.
For me it had several causes:
1. My mobile connection wasn't very good and therefore my phone got hot while searching good signal - I flashed a new modem to improve connection... If this won't help a new provider is needed I guess
2. Too many apps running in the background - as already said in a post above greenify will help there a lot as it prevents app from starting without you wanting it
3. Also I installed a new kernel - I'm using dorimanx too. It's battery profile can help a lot
4. Pure performances x (Zeno edition) my phone got a lot faster after flashing this. Also it drains less battery when being idle.
Hope this can help you.

Unless my understanding of Portuguese is wrong, you seem to have 66% left, after 4 hours of use. That is 8.5% per hour. If you were using your phone actively during those 4 hours, it seems that you will get about 11 hours SOT, which sounds pretty good to me. If your phone was not being used at all during these 4 hours, then that would be pretty bad.

You should get more than 4 hours SOT - and the screenshot that you gave in the OP shows that you would get at least double that. I am not sure how your battery can go from 66% (as show in the OP) to 1% in less than an hour. Right now, you leave us guessing about too many things. It is not clear how exactly you are using your phone, how many apps you have installed, what are they, what exactly are they doing, how you have tested your battery to determine your SOT, etc.
To find out what is the problem, think you first have to start with a clean ROM. As someone has said, do a clean flash first (wipe data, dalvik/ART, and cache, and flash the ROM). You should first backup your apps before doing that. Install "PCMark" from the play store, and run the PCMark battery test with the clean ROM. Then restore your apps. Then run the PCMark battery test again. Then we can see whether there is a problem.
By the way, here is a good way to test your battery drain.

I think 4hrs was not SOT and not the heavy usage either, because it shows top battery drainer was the system itself. I think solution to his problem is to try another kernel OR fresh clean install of ROM. If you do not want to handle apps and backup then may be just try kernel. I faced the same issue on RR because i did dirty flash (wipe: cache, dalvik, system only). I am using below mentioned kernel and it solved my problem. Plus i use kernel adiutor app to change cpu usage, but i have found that it has troubles sometimes. (i can't change values of max/min cpu speed & Governor settings, "sometimes")

app: kernel adiutor
rom: dirty flashed RR 5.8.3 (18/06) for mido
