ROMs? - Xperia Tablet Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, i've read that roms aren't good as the official sony update. is it true? i want to try Ubuntu Touch, PAC Man or CarbonROM, are them better than x.370 build?
Oh well, if i install a rom, can i reinstall the small apps and use them like in the stock?
thank you

Yes, they aren't as good as stock yet.
No, you can't use Small Apps in alternative ROMs.
For this you didn't need to open a new thread, you can read about it enough in the existing threads.

Anyone wanna spare me sometime and suggest a ROM and Kernal.?

Hey guys. I am kinda overwhelmed by the number of ROMs and kernals around. I saw modems too but dunno what they are. Heres my info:
Baseband:I9100DDKE4
Kernal: 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKF3-CL276555 [email protected] #2
Hope thats alls needed. I wanna try our MIUI. But I saw stuff like bluetooth isnt working there. I dont wanna lose any functionality. Is CyanogenMod my best bet? Are there any other good stable mods I should check out? And whats a good Kernal? Which wont affect battery performance.
Thanks for your time if you reply.

or check the link i will give you and il be honest you be better off going there to start off with custom roms..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288850
read throughout the first page and then go to the last page as well of the thread cause they just updated the rom and scripts..so you will enjoy using that rom i know i did since i beta tested it..
and battery life with the right settings you can get 2 days out of it..give it a try your not losing anything..
and regarding cyanogen id wait till they make it more stable

1. Modems are the drivers for the mobile connections if you flash a newer one it can improve your network speed but it really depends were you live etc so it different for every person.
2. If you're a beginner with flashing I wouldn't start with any AOSP ROMs like Cyanogen or MIUI.
3. I would recommend Villain ROM for the beginning. It's clean and basic and it comes with Nimphetamine Kernel. Also the guys there are really nice and like to help if you have some problems.
Hello there OP!
If you want a completely different Android experience, go for the CyanogenMod 7.1 release candidate. Bluetooth and other important stuffs are working, read the thread!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1297557
If you want a very stable ROM with bloatware removed, I recommend you Cognition 1.5.1. The developer only uses official firmware releases, not leaks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124396
Though before you do all these you do need to have your phone rooted first!

i know mate i been there so i know how it feels wanting to ask these questions...but you have some ideas from myself and other people as well so do your reading and choose the one you want..to be honest if i was you id flash a few before deciding which one to stay with..each thread of the roms that i have used everyone is friendly and everyone is helpful so you should be fine...anything you ever need hit me a message and i see if i can help ya
Thanks you everyone. I was just being lazy. Chose Lite'ning Rom and SiyahKernal2.0. Both should play well right? Will I need to recong. all apps?
Loads of roms available but I'd recommend a rom based of 2.3.5 improvements are better than earlier releases.
Then you can choose from the various kernels and modems to customise.
Once you get the hang of flashing and such you can try out others like cm7, which itself works pretty good now and offers a complete aosp experience.
Touchwiz roms are polished though and work very well. By going to CM7 and such you will lose some stock functionalities such as the good camera app, better stock email, and other bits and bobs.

i think LeoMar75 Revolution Rom v2.7.1 and SpeedMod t41 kernel is the best choice.
battery friendly and really fast!!
no lag in SPB Shell 3D launcher and other apps. also revolution rom is really customised!
(my english is not good as i come from Hong Kong)
GingerMod 0.6. Based on 2.3.5.
Fast. Using Siyah kernel with it. Amazing battery life, amazing benchmark scores.

[Q] Which Rom!? Help ! :)

Hey everyone
I currently use CM9 and love the experience, however I want the stability and all the hardware to be working of stock.
My question is there a ROM out there which is built from stock, but has been converted to look exactly the same as AOSP /CM9?
Anything close?
Thanks !
I use WanamLite. Its based on Stock Samsung but pure ICS themed. I recomend it.

try foxhound. from reading that thread it is more or less has the AOSP feel. but next time ask in the right forum mate the Q&A section and also maybe it is best to search and find the one that you might think is appropriate cause there is no point having to wait for others to tell you

err...most of the roms in the android dev section are based on stock and are themed to look like aosp
Have you even bothered to look?
Read & search, this question is so trivial it's clear you've done neither

[Q] will rooting/custom rom avoid motoblur sign in?

Hello,
sorry if this was asked before, i couldn't find a clear answer after searching. the closest I got was:
CM7 stands for CyanogenMod v7. It's a very popular ROM, b/c of its built-in options, great enchantments and total removal of manufacture software; i.e. all that MotoBlur stuff on your device is gone.
I don't really mind all the built-in apps and etc. what i can't stand is every time I remove/change my sim card it asked me to sign in to my motoblur account; so my question is, after rooting/installing a custom rom, will it still require me to sign in?
and if so, is just rooting enough? or will need a custom rom to avoid this login?
thanks in advance.
yes it will have gapps so the sign in to motoblur will not appy..

so any custom rom will remove the motoblur login? sorry wasn't too clear about which rom, i probably won't do the cm7 that's why I asked.
yup cm7 will do..stable also.

other custom roms too? i'm more interested in a non cm7 rom. thanks!
Well you have a choice now between :
- ICS/CM9 ROMs (Not really stable but fancy and other cool stuffs)
- CM7 ROMs (Stable, really stable and fast)
- Blur/GB ROMs (Stable, the best is NottachTrix which has Webtop included)
- MIUI ROMs (Fancy as hell, but I've never tried one...)
- AOSP based ROMs (Android Open-Source Project ROMs are ROMs made from scratch, they can be stable as they can be a disaster)
And if you install a Blur ROM, you will have to log in with your Blur account but you can still try a Deblur script (Search engine is your friend, don't forget it).
Here's a list of ROMs with comments, pro and con's.

There are 2 types of roms. Blur and nonblur. Roms based on stock usually have blur. Some don't. Roms based on cm7 don't have blur. So its just a personal preference if you want to stay as close to stock or not. Search around in development section to see if you can find a rom to suit your needs.

[Q] New on S3.. what mod do you recommend me?

Hi for all... thats basically my question, what mod do you recommend? I thinked CM but it's currently oj nightlyes builds and has a lot of entendible bugs.. f4k mod didn't lime me, i hear omega.. but what is the more "stable", "quicker," mod possible? My idea is install a good mod and install tons of apps and games with no problems.. thanks in advance and please sory my english i'm argentinian.. .
Omega 100% stable and the developer indie doesn't stop. Always updated to the latest firmware. Also a lot of theme support on the thread. Check out motomoto theme its a beauty.

Sure? Because I Think what android eclair, froyo, ics, ebean all of them are ROMS And things such cyanogen, criskelo ,darkys etc are MODS for the android ROMS!... and im NOT asking for the BEST "rom".. simply i am asking for suggestions .. i readed so much stu**d questions here and i think mine is not so bad... thanks for read anyway

eclair, froyo, ics, etc are versions.
cm, darky, criskelo, omega are all roms that are modded. mods on the other hand are specific changes that do not include the whole rom with it. it depends on having a rom as a base to install onto.
stuff like removing charging notifications or add camera functionality are mods. the ability to add any app to multi Window is a mod, but cm, darky, omega etc are ROMs. they're completely independant and does not require a flashing of another rom as a base.
and yes, you are asking for what the best rom is. the fact is, you'll have to just try different roms and see which one suites your need. check the all in one sticky thread for a link to another thread that categorizes roms based on what concept of android they're going for (stock, aosp, aokp, sense, etc etc).
all of these roms are very well documented and they explain what their rom was built for.

Stock ICS based rom for WT19i

Hello friends.
I am looking for a very simple rom. Actually I am very happy with the Stock ICS 587 Rom .. all I want is those bloatware and all unnecessary apps removed so I get more phone memory. I dont want lots of bells and whistles .. I want performance and stability. I'll use only 3 or 4 apps (google chrome .. file manager .. and probably thats it) and I want it to be fast and responsive.
I found a thread with bloatware removed stock rom .. but its unstable. My phone restarts every now and then.
So please suggest me a rom or point me to some thread where I can find it. Thank you:fingers-crossed:

Dear mihahn .. I am sure you didn't read my post completely
I am not asking for a best rom .. I am looking for an ICS stock based rom with less bloatware and customization. I don't mind trying different roms thats where the fun right? But I like the stock rom and so looking for something based on it.
The term "best" differ from person to person. A super light mod would be best to me .. but could be worst to many !!

Thank you droid_user. I have already tried that one .. my lww restarts every now and then with it. I'll try it again with different kernel.
Yup the karandpr thread is awesome .. it helped me a lot.
While this is not a best ROM thread these types of threads are an incentive for others to start posting well XX is better than YY, some developers do not like seeing their work compared to that of others, not only that but it can cause flaming between fanboys.. For that reason i'll be closing the thread. From looking at your post, why not flash a rooted Stock ICS and remove all the bloatware with a root-explorer.
