Problems restoring to stock - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

I converted my HTC One to a google edition by flashing the ruu, changing the modelid and cid. I tried reverting to stock sense by restoring a nandroid but when it booted to Android the touchscreen did not work. When I restored the nandroid I did not change the modelid or cic but I don't think that would have mattered. Do I need to also restore the bootloader ?

You need to restore an earlier firmware. Follow the instructions in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2355814. On page 5 i posted a firmware that replaces the same partitions (other than system) that the GPe conversion changes out. If you don't want to change you MID just change the android-info.txt file to match your current MID (PN072000) and it will flash.
Good luck...if this helps let the folks in that thread know, and as always love the thanks button.

Thanks a lot. A nandroid does not backup the firmware?

No...just system and boot usually. You can grab cache and data too...but not the other partitions. Be scary always writing the firmware on restore. Mucking with firmware is risky business.

Let us know how you make out after flashing firmware!

It did not go well. I got the wifi and touchscreen working but I cannot find a truly stock rom. I found a better solution by switching to the developer edition. I now have tethering without limits.

Did you try this Rom? This is stock T-Mobile with latest update that would match that firmware package.

Alright I had the same issue as the OP touchscreen not working but got that fixed with the firmware posted and the nandroid posted thanks.

Complete HTC newb here so apologies if its been repeated or if there's already tons of threads on it, but I can't seem to find a solid all in one revert to 100% stock thread... that said, the crack flasher in me got too antsy and I unlocked the bootloader, fastboot flashed a recovery, and put a custom 4.2.2 ROM (ViperOne) on my One. I liked stock just fine and want to go back to it now. As far as I know I didn't s-off or change my firmware or anything important, I just did those 3 things so would I be ok just flashing that T-Mobile stock zip posted above and then fastboot flashing the stock t-mo recovery? I am not a flashing newb, I know adb and fastboot and how to flash various packages.
tl;dr unlocked and flashed a custom recovery to put on a custom 4.2.2 ROM. do I need to do anything special besides flashing a T-Mobile "stock" package and reverting recovery?

I have read that, its still a little unclear.. from what I read I need to be s-off to flash stock firmware or ROMs? if not then it should be a piece of cake, I'll just do everything but the last s-off -> s-on step since I'm already s-on

You don't need to be S-On for OTA's. Only locked bootloader with stock recovery.

How to return to complete stock?

This might be a dumb question but how do i return the rezound to complete 100% stock? thanks
If you never flashed ics ruu leak you can relock and use gb ruu.. if you did ics ruu, then best you can do is a gb Rom...ics not out yet...so gb is the ofical stock.

Ok good, just go through reading on how to flash custom roms, kernels, & AmonRA 3.15.
Once you read up and I mean READ you shouldn't have any issues if you decide to go to custom roms. Should be able to fix anything with the device once you have went through at least 3 custom rom flashes. I suggest one of the ICS roms as your first flash as it's rather straightforward vs rolling back to gingerbread from the RUU.
I thought the phone would say that you're re-locked if you tried to re-lock it. If that's the case, is there a way to revert that back to a "locked" status?

Only way for that to happen is if we get S-off for the device. Sounds like a method is done testing for the Rezound so a matter of them releasing it .
This doesn't return you to the old radios if you updated them, does it?
I have had bluetooth issues since going to the leaked firmware and ICS. Flashed everything multiple times, etc, etc with no improvements.
If there is a way to get back old radios and GB, or if this IS the way, I'll be ecstatic (or ex-static pun). From what I read I thought you couldn't get back to original radios.
Is this the solution to returning to old firmware?
Only way is with s-off and running a gb ruu. Doing those 2 things will give you back the gb radio.
You can run gb Roms until then....requires a sd card patch, check the op of a Rom and it explains it there. Might give a little better performance until s off is released.

Currently S-ON about to go S-OFF!

I have gathered all the information needed to do the S-OFF switch. I have one main concern. I am on a custom rom. Clean Rom to be exact. Instructions state that I need to get on the "stock" rom first before I go about the procedure. I am kind of stumped here.
Any suggestions of how I can get back to "stock?"
Any comments or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Many people have done it on custom ROMS... I had trouble initially when on CleanRom and then switched to a different computer and flashed the stock rooted GB rom, NOT the RUU and the thing ran straight through successfully. So was the ROM the problem, don't know and didnt' care, I was S-off If you have the time, flash the stock ROM before you start. If you find the rooted one, you don't have to relock then unlock the bootloader.
Make sure you use an old SD card...I had to flash a recovery and boot.img between major failures..so have those handy...hopefully you will 'sail through!!!' Good Luck. :good:

Yea it's pretty simple. On my other stock Rezound all I did was HTC dev unlock and flash amon ra and then did the s-off. Main thing to remember is "DO NOT HTC DEV UNLOCK" after you get s-off.

relock your bootloader again.
format you externel sd card.
download a different copy of PH85IMG.

so i format the sdcard after i relock thebootloader? because it wont let me into recovery once my bootloader is locked the only place it allows me to go is inside the bootloader

No,formatting the sd card is a different issue, its for clear all the possible bad sectors and files....put your PH85IMG file after formatting the sd card...and you do not need recovery while you returning to stock...right

you do not need recovery to flash a stock ROM,because the fastboot automatically detects your PH85IMG from your ext sd card.

relock the bootloader then flash your ruu once it's done flash the jbear hboot (or else you'll have trouble flashing the recovery) plus since you already have an ics firmware why are you messing your phone up :S just flash some rom and enjoy it? you keep flashing stuff more than using your phone as a phone :/
I unlocked and installed cm 10 before I s-off. Could not run s-off successfully without stock.
So... I asked similar questions a month or so back about Telus.
I can't successfully rollback to the gb ruu or the ics ruu. The ics ruu is an ota which appears to need an gb install.
Pure stock tmous ruu check for tmous cid and fails when it finds the Telus cid.
Finally installed arhd 4 and s-off tool ran without error. I could then flash radio and hboot

ARHD4 is short for Android Revolution HD version 4 which has recently been updated to version 5. It's a ROM that's very close to stock T-Mobile OTA from March of 2013, it's deodexed, with minor tweaks and slight debloating, and addons which are done through the Aroma installer. It can be found in the dev section of this board.

I don't believe you can s-off with any non-stock ROM (though I may be mistaken). I think you need to be on the latest factory image from your carrier before you can run the s-off hack or it won't work. Reread through the instructions carefully and I think you'll find what I'm saying is correct.

ARHD won't help you for several reasons. First, it isn't a stock ROM, it's been rooted, deodexed, and some apps removed from stock. Second, it's based on a T-Mobile ruu and you don't have the T-Mobile version of this handset. There are several threads which detail how you can get back to stock, please read them, use the search function, and do some research for yourself rather than spamming the board requesting help.

Reread my post. I didn't say you couldn't flash it, I said you couldn't attain s-off with it, because it isn't a stock ROM for your device. In order to attain s-off the CID of the ROM has to match the CID of your handset. The vast majority of ROMs for the Amaze are made from a T-Mobile base so they are incompatible for your purposes because of this mismatch. What about this fact do you not understand? There have been many threads written about this, and the solutions have been given to you by several folks here in the forum.
Regardless, please discontinue spamming the board, especially when you have been told how to resolve your issue. You were the one who didn't initially follow directions and are now stuck, not any of us. If you're incapable of following basic directions or searching for the answers yourself then you shouldn't be modding your phone in the first place.

New Rezound user

Hello everyone!
I recently purchased a Rezound and I want to jump into rooting/modding it. Im coming from the Samsung Fascinate, and that thing was super easy to root. I've searched the forums here but I just couldn't find a root guide. I want to flash Infection rom but I really don't know how to go about it. I don't know what this s-off and s-on business is about and I don't want to do anything to my phone without further research to prevent bricking my device. My software number reads: 3.14.605.13 710RD. I am running stock android 4.0.3. Could anyone please send me in the right direction to go about flashing custom roms on my new device? Thank you!

Thank you so much! i successfully installed infection rom and am using it with s-on buy flashing the boot.img after flashing the rom. i think i will stay away from s-off for now, but thank you again for your help
I was on the same OTA as you. Unlocked via HTCDev, flashed recovery in fast boot and superuser. From there you can flash ROMs while s-on. I went a step further using the unlimited.io website and got s-off.
If you stay s-on you need to have a computer to flash the boot.IMG from the ROM you want which is the kernel.

Say if i were to want to flash a newer version of infection rom, would be okay to just wipe cache and dalvik then flash the newer version unless instructed by the dev to wipe everything? Also, since I am currently s-on, will i have to flash the boot.img everytime i flash a new custom rom or update infection rom?

I always wipe everything but yea you should be OK. If you change ROMs you have to flash the boot.img. I didn't stay son long so in not sure about updates. Try it if it doesn't boot then you have too.

I use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=37061598 its the unofficial port of cm 10.1, stang is awesome enough to build an update every fourth night. So we do flash an update zip on top of our first flash and so on
If its an update to the ROM you should just be able to flash on top of it and wipe cache\dalvik cache. the only time you need a complete full wipe is if the android version changes from 4.2.2 which android version doesn't change often OR if you start having major issues.
As far as flashing the boot.img in bootloader every update. You should ask the dev or an s-on person using the rom. I wouldn't know because I s-off'd my rezound within the first 2hours of having it

Actually, it depends on the ROM. I use EclipticRez and Snuzzo and Hawknest have it set up to create a PH98IMG file of the kernel you choose in setup, it puts in in a folder so all you have to do as s-on is navigate to it in recovery and flash. So no need for a computer.
I've had the phone since it came out and I'm still s-on. Doesn't bother me a bit.
I looked into S-off for the Rezound and I found Hasoon2000s all in one tool kit found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1696394
I also read about how there no more support for windows OS for s-off. I'm not familiar with linux unfortunately (something i have to check off in my bucket list someday). Is there any way to achieve s-off while using windows?
I did the wire trick on windows 7, I search for a guide for you on xda. I'll edit the post if I found something
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1612035 I found this. Its exactly what you need

v3.16 is what you want. You need to unzip it and flash it in fastboot:
fastboot flash recovery <nameofrecovery>

Thanks.
So im looking for a full featured lightweight rom that has everything working. Neo has, well, a million roms out, needing something lean. Trying to move away from sense or maybe a desensed? Ideas?

You can try EclipticRez, I do believe there's a desensed option when installing but I'm not completely positive. If there is give it a go. It's really smooth and there's good, active support for it.

[Q] Flash Radio via fastboot

Currently I am using ATT htc one with developer edition OS. I learned from the forum that there was update from att about the radio. So I tried to flash it.
However, since I want OTA work, I chose to stay with the stock recovery and therefore I cannot flash it via custom recovery like a lot of threads in here talking about. I searched and only found the procedure from other htc product's forum as below.
1) adb reboot-bootloader
2) fastboot flash radio radio.img
But "fastboot flash radio radio.img" has no response at all.
I got the img from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=232556. It was extracted from Radio_4A.16.3250.24_10.38.1150.03.zip. And Ive already s-offed and unlocked bootloader.
Any help about flashing? Thanks in advance.

The latest OTA has a radio newer than the one you are trying to flash. Since you want OTA to still work, why flash an older radio?

I have converted att os to developer edition. Even though the build is 1.29.1540.17, baseband is still 4A.14.3250.13, which is the original.

Need to do adb shell while in recovery then:
dd if=/sdcard/radio_firmware.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p31
"radio_firmware.img" to be changed to whatever the name of the radio file is.
Also, I'm not sure if this command works in stock recovery. All posts I've seen say do this in custom recovery.
If it doesn't work, just flash custom recovery, flash radio, then flash back stock recovery.
Also why do you need OTA and Developer Edition conversion? If you're s-off and unlocked, it's easier to be up to date using either custom ROM or even stock ROM of international version and flashing radio/firmware as necessary.

Thank you for our kind reply. Personally I like sense 5 very much, so I have no intention to use other ROM. For att os, I really don't like those programs coming with it.

You can flash a stock international ROM and keep it up to date manually.
Also there are custom stock ROMs, such as Android Revolution or CleanROM, that are stock Sense 5 with optimizations for performance and battery life.
Custom stock ROMs based on international version will allow you to have updates sooner than waiting for OTA to be approved by carrier.
