Ok For the last week i have been running the beautiful theme Meizu for CM7 theme chooser. Now I have been trying to create my patch for a transparent status bar. I have been using the Patcher App From Here And Using this Tutorial From Here
Now I have the latest apktool.jar downloaded swapped it in with the One the Came with Zdune's Patch because i dont know how outdated the one that came with the patcher is.
Now the Patcher Works Fine For Decompiling the apk, It tells me to make sure i have both the Framework-res and systemui on my desktop.
So i go through all the steps correctly, I even triple double check to see if ive edited the Statusbarservice.smali correctly and ive done this numerous times. Everything runs smoothly, Even compiling and signing the SystemUI.apk but no matter what i do When i push the modded SystemUI.apk over to my phone it doesnt work. I dont know if there is something wrong with the apktool.jar or if its not signing correctly hell i dont even know if its renaming anything while recompiling.(which i have read elsewhere that it is a common issue.)
The reason im asking for help is because im a graphic designer and im pretty good at reading tutorials and debugging. So im not dumb by any means. And i want to design my own theme. And my theme will have a transparent status bar.
I have attached my unmodded systemui and framework if someone would like to help patch this for me, Or even guide through the process to show me what im doing wrong.
BUMP! Really Nobody?!!!
Hi there.
I was using the Turkbey ROM and liked the framework and icons that were used. I have changed to the illusion XT ROM and have copied the framework-res, twlauncher-res and the SystemUI pngs over to this ROM and everything has changed nicely.
The only thing I cant seem to find out how to change is the background of the Settings menu. I have copied all the PNG's over from the Turkbey ROM but believe this is set in a XML file somewhere.
Could someone please pont in the right direction?!?!?!
Thanks
I'm trying to do some editing to the status_bar.xml, but anything I do causes force closes and no status bar.
I'm pulling SystemUI.apk via ADB, decompiling with APK Multi-Tool, making a change in the status_bar.xml as small as changing the background color of it, compiling with APK Multi-Tools, and pushing with ADB. Every time, it just disappears and starts spam force closing.
Any ideas?
EDIT: Changing ANYTHING from SystemUI.apk seems to cause force closes.

What rom are you running? How are you installing the modded apk? What exactly are you trying to change? Are you making multiple mods at once? If you're modding any xml within the apk and it fc's when you install it, it's either not compiling properly or the changes you made aren't kosher. Try using apk manager with the latest apk tool to decompile and compile and see if that helps.
Also, if all you wanna do is change the status bar background color, just decompile the systemui.apk, edit statusbar_background.9.png (without breaking the pixel guides) recompile the apk, and instead of flashing the recompiled apk, extract that .png and drop it into the stock apk and flash that.

I'm on UnNamed, and I'm pushing the APKs via ADB in command prompt. I'm trying to change the color of the status bar right now, but I'd also like to change the icons. I did what you suggested, but it didn't change anything. Bar is still there and no force closes, but it's still the same color even though the 9.png file is a different color.

Do this, the compiled systemui that's giving you fc open it and the unmodified version. Drag nine patch image you edited to the unedited systemui

Don't adb push it. Just flash it. Download winrar (google it). Download one of my themes (or any theme) for unnamed, delete all the the folders except "system" and "Meta". Open system folder and delete eveything except "apps" folder. Open apps folder and delete everything. Add your modded systemui.apk to the apps folder and flash in cwm.
Its MUCH MUCH easier to use APK Manager and have it push it as an unsigned system app. After you push it, run an "adb shell killall system_server" <-- does a quick system reset, and you can test it out.
I'm not sure what changed but I finally got APK Manager set up to be able to push things itself, and I finally got a change to go through! Thanks for the help guys.
I've used the search, but I found only a guide, but it doesn't work...
so, I ask another time your help.
I want to change the status bar icons (for example, the icon who appears when you insert the headphones) and the toggle icons (for example the toggle for put on wifi, hotspot, bluetooth, and much more).
I tried to download sdk tools, jdk, and apk tools.
I took the original SystemUI.apk with the root explorer, I extracted it with apktool (I've inserted "apktool d SystemUI.apk"). This systemui is for cm 7.2.
I extracted another SystemUI.apk, which is for stock roms (2.3.6), I went on res/drawable-mdpi and I took 2 wifi icons (on and off, there was the icons for the wifi toggle). So, I resized them with GIMP, because there was 70x70, and in the SystemUI for the cm 7 the toggle icons are 36x36. I've insered even the trasparent background.
So, I copied these icons in the res/drawable-mdpi of the SystemUI for the CM 7 and I return back to the .apk file ("apktool b SystemUI").
I put it in my phone, I put on system/app with root explorer, I've assigned the right permissions, but when I rebooted the phone, there was any status bar! But I think I do all correctly, because I resized the files 36x36, and I didn't touch anything.
Anyone can help me?
again, sorry for my bad english.

Hello people, before we start i am new to android so i am not up to speed with everything yet. I need some help trying to change the settings background from white to either a picture or transparent.
I am using using the Xtrestolite rom for my G925F but would like to change the settings background. I have used various xposed mods to try to achieve this but non seem to work, wanam xposed, xbackground, gravitybox.
Next i used Tickle my Android to decompile the framework, systemui and tw_framework apks from the rom. From the guides i have read i think i should be looking for tw_background_holo_dark.xml but i cant find this file anywhere or a .png version (i guess these guides are for older android versions).
So i have edited various other files that i think relate to the settings background, active_background.xml, active_background_holo_dark.xml to transparent and solid colors and others but nothing affect the settings background. I also tried deleting the xmls and replacing them with .pngs of the same names and in different drawable folders.
I used Tickle my Android to make zips to flash and also put the edited framework apk back in to the rom folder and flashed the full rom but nothing works.
So before i waste a few more hours i will ask for a nudge in the right direction if anyone can help. Thank you
