yes, turn off your phone then connect USB while pressing specific key.
same applies for fastboot method
When I am installing drivers, I am getting "don't install or install anyway", I choose install anyway but the same window comes up again. Should my phone be turned on, off or in flashmode or something?

did u check that your device can be unlocked or not?
Yes I checked, it can be unlocked
If you have installed Flashtools and its drivers correct you shouldn't get any driver prompts when plugging the phone in
Assuming you did a default install browse to C:\Flashtool\drivers and execute the drivers file. Make sure you select the drivers for you phone ie "Xperia U" and scroll to the bottom of the list and select Flashboot and Fastboot drivers. From what I have seen so far most people are not installing these 3 drivers.
karimkahale: I would go back to the Sony website and get your unlock code again. Maybe you entered some wrong details...
Please help me out,

Successfully installed Fastboot driver on windows 8 (Used Advance Startup for installing unsigned drivers)through Flashtools and also unlocked bootloader..
Accidently lost all data as unlocking bootloader wipes data...forgot to take a backup but m happy.
Thank you for this tutorial mate!
It's better if we can get unlock key from flashtool

Thanks a million, but would my warranty be void immediately after I unlock the bootloader, what's the regulation about this matter, I'd like to keep my warranty.
---------- Post added at 10:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:45 AM ----------
If i relocked the boot loader the warranty wouldn't be void, right?
Not quite;
It all depends on your repairman...
The standard, though, is, that the warranty is valid if the guys at the repair center can flash a stock ROM (.ftf) onto the phone. Some phones can do this without their bootloader being locked, but some can't do this after their bootloaders are unlocked, even if they are locked back afterwards...
Now, I have a question:
I'm having the same error as karimkahale...
Whatever I do, I get that stupid error, and not even Sony can help me (their support team (that needs a week to reply to a simple e-mail) said that thy don't know how to help)...!
Thanks a lot for the guide, it was really helpful!
Cheers!

You have to, actually....
To relock, you need to flash a ftf file via FlashTool...
Help me I can't seem to choose unlock bootloader from the plugin button?
Hey!
Now my device is installed as Xperia Mini, when device is on, is this the right driver?
When not installed (before I press Install PC Companion software on this computer)
it shows up as Sony Ericsson sa0102 ADB Interface Driver, and I have the option to choose between similar named drivers, non of which works. This doesnt seem right?
What driver should the device use before PC-Companion installs the Xperia Mini driver?
In flashmode, the device is installed as Android ADB device. This seems right if you follow other tutorials/guides!
But I still cant flash/root nor unlock bootloader.
I know I need to downgrade the stock software version .62 to either .42 or .58 (The latter I couldnt find, so I will try .42 fw)
Bootloader unlock allowed: yes
USB debugging: ON
Unknown sources: ON
USB connection mode: MSC
Driver signature enforcement: OFF
Flashtool -> Throws error both on BLU and Flash, says my bootloader cant be officially unlocked
Doomlords v.4 -> Cant chmod/copy/install, but it seems it can push zergRush, if that means it "transferring" the app to the device
SE Bootloader_Unlocking_Relocking -> Throws exception when trying to flash, and hangs when I try to unlock the bootloader
SuperOneClick -> Shows half the process of zergRush then hangs, doesnt matter the method (zergRush, psnauter, GingerBreak)
fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version-> stuck at < waiting for device >
But "adb devices" shows the device! Is there a way to flash, root or unlock the bootloader with ADB?
This part might be the source of the whole mess!
Another problem im facing, probably highly crusial, when I try to upgrade the stock firmware neither PC-Companion nor SE update service can finish the upgrade!! It doesnt recognise my device when I being prompted to connect my phone in flashmode. I'm stuck here...
This might be a problem someone has encontered, and might share som insight in!?
When solved, I'll edit this thread to be "for those who facing the same issues as I'm doing!" And explain the exact details how and which drivers to install, and when!
And if I dont solve it, I'll think I'm gonna give Sony Ericsson a call after I posted on there official forums!
Hello, Iam totaly f***ed up, I have Xperia P, rooted, unlocked bootloader, CWM recovery, with Cyanogenmod. Well at least last time CM worked, it was version for some tablet and I wanted to flash right ROM. But via CWM recovery it failed, so I connected phone to PC, launched "Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT" and flashed boot.img ( fastboot flash boot boot.img )from CM zip. It said it worked, but when I rebooted my phone, there was just red LED diode, and no light from screen or back/home buttons at all. When I wanted to flash stock firmware via "Flashtool", it said my devide drivers arent installed, but I installed them before from "drivers" folder in Flastool folder. So I downloaded some other drivers, but it f***ed up somehow, and now my computer cant install right drivers and when I connect my phone to PC in fastbootmode? (holding volume down when connecting USB), Iam stuck at Windows installing SOMC Flash Device, and it fails in couple of minutes. I really dont know what to do now. please help...
EDIT: ok my problem with SOMC Flash Device driver is solved... I just didnt hold volume down button long enough hope this will help someone too but still I have unusable phone and I need to instal stock firmware or something else that will help
NOTE: I'm using Windows 10 64-bit on the latest update.
So for the past week I've been interested in unlocking the bootloader of my D6503 Xperia Z2 running 6.0.1 Marshmallow. I've taken all the necessary precautions to do so.
(Apparently I can't post links since this is my first post, sorry!)
Using the Sony "unlock the bootloader" page, I've been able to get into fastboot mode- however the driver for fastboot that Sony provides doesn't work (They give a link to the altered drivers in the tutorial). The "S1Boot Fastboot" comes up as not recognised on my computer. I've tried updating the driver using the device manager and pointing to the location where I have Sony's driver installed, then it says "installing" for a while before giving a warning that it was unable to install the driver because "the system cannot find the file specified". I have definitely followed every step that Sony has put on their unlock the bootloader page.
I've looked everywhere but cannot find a solution. It appears that many other Xperia users have had the same problem as me in the past but none of their solutions worked for me. So far I've tried:
Force updating the drivers
Downloading Sony's flashtool to manually install drivers, but the driver folder doesn't include the driver installer .exe file.
Manually setting the device driver to "Bootloader interface" and "Android ADB interface" in the device manager
Using the Android SDK manage to install the drivers
Downloaded third-party drivers from here by DoomLord (However there wasn't a driver available for my specifc device, the Z2)
The command "adb devices" recognises my phone when it is fully turned on, but the command "fastboot devices" never recognises my phone whether it is on or in the fastboot mode.
I'm thinking of just downloading a Linux VM and trying it on there, since apparently no extra drivers are needed, but that will mean downloading the Android SDK and Java JDK as well....
Can someone please help me out? I'm really interested in unlocking this bootloader... Thanks in advance

Download Sony AIO flashtool by androxyde and unlock bootloader with it, it reduces much effort and time you need to spend.
I am having the same exact problem. I have already tried a half dozen variants of android_winusb.inf to no avail. Either gets accepted but end up with a "cannot find the file specified" error, or simply doesn't get accepted. I am actually quite experienced with android modding (using both windows and linux) but I am on my new laptop now trying to set it up to fix my Xperia Z1 (flashed it with c6903 stock and now it has no baseband - because in reality it's a c6902) but windows10 (which I actually really like) is really giving me a hard time getting adb working!

I also struggled with same issue trying to bootloader unlock my Xperia X F5121. I eventually succeeded in getting fastboot working on win10:
1. Download as zip: google search github androxyde flashtool (i am not allowed to post links) and extract zip.
2. Restart windows by holding shift down while clicking restart. Windows will boot into a mode where you can disable driver signature enforcement.
3. Run as administrator DPInst64.exe from the drivers folder of Flashtool. Press "install anyway" on every popup where it says drivers origin cannot be confirmed.

Thankyou, Legend!
Yesterday I tried to flash a a new rom on my Xperia Z2 (unlocked bootloader).
From TWRP I did an advanced wipe and selected basically everything except my mircoSD (because it has the new files).
After a long time of waiting I tried to flash the ZIP file and it gave me an error. I thought this had to do with the wipe so I decided to reboot my phone.
As you can imagine, it got stuck on the Sony logo (because system would be empty).
From this moment I couldn't do anything with my phone, except from the tool Emma.
I now have some clean installation of Sony their Android 6.0.1 for the Z2 (23.5.A.0.570) but Im unable to flash TWRP through fastboot.
The command adb devices shows my phone, fastboot devices gives an empty response.
When I restart to the bootloader from adb and try to flash TWRP I get the message "< waiting for device >".
I tried on three different PCs including a clean install of Windows with all kind of different drivers, yet I cant get fastboot to work.
Am I stuck with this unrooted version of Android now or do you guys have any suggestions for me?
Thanks in advance!

As I said I've tried all kind of different drivers (Android tools, Sony drivers and flahstool drivers). So for me it's hard to tell what I'm doing wrong.
My computer notices the phone (if I hold volume up and attach the charger), it just doesn't show up under fastboot devices.

Okay, apparently it was because of the driver signature stuff in Windows 10.. The fastboot command now works fine!
Next problem occurred though, flashed the newest TWRP recovery but as soon as I enter "adb reboot recovery" my phone just normally boots again..
Why do things never work out the right way for me as they are intended..

Manually boot into recovery by booting up your device normally and when you see a violet LED, press vol+.
