Should I unroot ? Are we expecting a ota 4.2.2 - T-Mobile HTC One (M7)

I read on google that 4.2.2 is already being or about to be released ota , any truth to this ..
I just wondered if I should unroot for now to accept the ota, if there intact is one

tmobile us will take their sweet time to get us the update. i just hope it's not too long after all other regions have gotten theirs. the 5 months they took to release jb update for the htc one was ridiculous.

I vote we start mailing them filled out AT&T number port contracts in three weeks

I have been using 4.2.2 since it first came out, get a rooted rom, r u kidding...
I am sim unlocked, and for some reason I cant use an att sim, I tried my friends just to see, I cant get no signal, don't know why.

Why still no update from 3 UK

I'm on build ALE8 and I know there's been an update to fix done bugs out a while now.
I'm on 3 UK and am still waiting for the update here in UK.
Is anyone else on 3 our other networks still waiting?
Also for the people who have it, does it fix anything that's you've found?
Cheers
I am and got bored of waiting for the update so just flashed the latest firmware.
Home screen seems to load better and multitasking seems better, was getting the browser reloading the page on ALE8 but on LF2 it generally doesnt reload and carries on were you left off
3 are upgrading their transmitters down here in S.E Kent. Been without Internet for nearly a week. They might roll out the latest update after that. Was told the upgrade was to speed up Internet speeds.

I don't think a software update will be held back because of now transmitters going up in one part of the country though
As above, I also got tired of waiting and flashed an unbranded firmware. Highly recommended as you won't have to wait for 3 to pull their fingers out every time an update comes out!
Asked 3 UK in timing they said standard answer...its in testing won't be long...
But why are they behind everyone else on release. I have an S3 it's branded but all that has is a 3 startup and shutdown screen
Where can I get a unbranded firmware for it? Would like the 3 stuff done and the update.

a few questions:
would switching over to the unbranded firmware stop future OTA updates (if three ever get around to doing them)?
would it void the warranty?
i'm right in assuming we'd still be able to flash back to a branded firmware correct?
cheers.

I'd be interested to know what bloatware you have on your Orange Rom. I don;t have anything on mine apart from a custom boot screen. I may be wrong here, but I think with the situation as bad as it has been for carriers giving updates, that Samsung has decided to take charge and IT will add the Carriers boot screen for them and then IT will send out the update.
Fingers crossed. Of course you could just flash. I just checked over my Orange insurance and it mentions nothing about breaking warranty if I modify the firmware, only if what I do breaks the phone.

Bootloader unlock? ??

Is there anyone get way to unlock bootloader of mopho 2.3.5 .. or any otherway to use any ics or jb rom ... plz tell
Sent from my MB855 using Tapatalk
My man! This is discussed countless times here already . You should search before posting. You can only unlock your bootloader if your device was on 2.3.4 or 2.3.5 shipped. If you have applied 2.3.5 update OTA, you cannot unlock your bootloader. There is no other way to install ICS or JB ROM without unlocking the bootloader.
And you've posted your QUESTION in DEVELOPMENT thread
Plz... devs... do something .. plz unlock bootloader.... m frustrated vid locked one...........

It's not up to the devs. The OTA 2.3.5 encrypted the bootloader with a signed private key that only Motorola has access too.
If you want your bootloader unlocked, complain to Motorola. Start following the Support My Moto campaign, and help us out on that front.

Guys, unfortunately if you want to flash custom roms, ur either going to have to move on to another platform, or try to find a MoPho with 2.3.4. Just accept it, this phone will be forgotten soon. Honestly, as much as I appreciate all the devs hard work, the custom roms on this phone are all lacking something, but that's not all their fault. Motorola screwed us all by cutting us out of the JB update. I think the MoPho works good out of the box. Rooting it alone is enough to make it a great phone.
I have not even been able to root my mopho since the update. Since my job will pay off the rest of my contract I am looking at a galaxy s3 or note2 through at&t. Any opinions out there? I have use Moto phones since Android came out, but this is a lame situation they put us in.

Or if u don't want to get locked into another contract, get a Galaxy Nexus and go prepaid. I just picked one up a Sprint version on eBay in perfect condition for $200. I would love to have the SIII, but this Gnex is a great phone too. I loved my MoPho, but this phone puts it to shame. Easiest root and unlock I've ever seen on a phone, and the roms are amazing. Just saw LTE speeds for the first time the other day. Incredibly fast, and I got perfect signal where I never had one before. I highly recommend the Gnex.

What prepaid service are you on with your sprint gnex?
Sorry, I didn't explain well. I was just recommending prepaid. I'm not on prepaid yet, stuck with Sprint contract for another 8 months, but as soon as my contract expires I'll sell my Gnex and either buy another one hspa version, or an SIII. I'll proly go with Straight Talk or Solavei prepaid.

[Q] Update EVO 4G LTE Firmware Or Not?

I'm having several issues with my phone and am on the verge of selling it and my OG EVO and getting an S3 or S4.
I stupidly purchased the device during the pre-order period last May (b4 any user reviews were out).
I'm rooted and running a stock ROM by Viper: Stock Rooted 3.15.651.16 Odex
3.15.651.16 710 RD
Android 4.1.1
Kernal 3.4.10-g 014d33e
Hboot 1.12.0000
Unlocked via HTC
S-On
TWRP 2.3.1.0
Baseband 1.02.12.0427
Radio version unknown
TWRP version 2.3.1.0
I don't know what radios (forgot where to find that info).
My issues are:
Random re-booting several times (3 to 6) per day.
Very rarely connect to LTE (and I live in L.A and work downtown).
On the rare occasion that I do connect to LTE, my apps (like maps) report, "This app requires a data connection", and I am un-able to access the Internet (but they work when the 3G icon is displayed).
I have read opinions that we should update our phones firmware to receive the latest improvements. However, xHausx has a post with links to firmware files, but he recommends NOT updating your firmware if your phone is S On (which mine is).
So I'm thinking of trying another ROM b4 giving up. But I'm unsure if there is any advantage (or dis-advantage) for me to update my firmware.
I want to stay mostly stock. I would prefer to keep Google Now. But after almost one year and still unable to use the LTE network here in Los Angeles (rumored to be nearly 50% complete), I'm about done waiting. The 3G network is painful, and I'm in effect paying $85 a month for 450 voice mins and email, but not much else.
You are on really old radios for one thing.
Not sure if that will solve your issue or not. But it's worth a shot. I would s- off the phone and then do the firmware updates.
Your baseband #'s are the radios.

Ah!. Well, tells you how long it's been since I've delved into this.
I assume I can S-Off even though I did the HTC unlock?
And I still have the constant re-booting issue to fix. Factory reset maybe?
You can use FacePalm to S-OFF you will find it in Original Development it takes about 5 minutes or less
Then you can update all your firmware manually using Captain_Throwback's firmware files
Any questions shoot me a PM

I just got the firmware and radios updated this afternoon, so I'll be checking it out fr the next couple of weeks to see if it does any better with Internet and LTE.
As far as where to sell it? That depends on where you are. Ebay is great for most people, but it takes longer because you have an auction to deal with.
Craigslist is ok if you're in a densely populated area. I'll probably use EBay if I do sell it, just because I'm willing to take a little time to get the best price.
But I'm hoping I can fix my issues because I still have 14 months left on my contract, and Sprint doesn't pro-rate until about 6 months into the contract. So I'm probably looking at about $300 to end it.

[Q] Just bought an AT&T HTC One and..

I'm new to Android.. coming from iPhone and WP7/8.
I love the HTC one and paid cash for this phone. I hate being controlled by the carrier when it comes to updates.... I know now.. that next time I will buy a unlocked/developer version if available.
My question is this. Being that it is an AT&T version, can i unlock the boot loader (assuming they haven't stopped this yet) and enable receiving my software updates directly from HTC? Just like the Dev phones.
I'm not so interested in "rooting" and loading custom Rom's at this point.. i just want to make sure i get the updates ASAP.. I don't want to wait on AT&T. (I wouldn't mind deleting some of the AT&T crap off the phone though)
I have searched Google and this forum and can not find an answer that is in such simple terms that i understand it lol ... sorry if this is a stupid question.
No.

You can unlock the bootloader, you'll need the carrier's help to SIM unlock. Check out the tutorial in the development section.
Unlocking your bootloader has nothing to do with when your phone gets updated.

Also, I don't believe that T-Mobile 4G HSPA or 4G LTE will work on the AT&T version. (But I wonder if the T-Mobile version of the phone will work on AT&T's network?)
If you want to run on T-Mobile US, you need the T-Mobile US version of the phone.

I think there is at least an attempt to give one Android update. If you are lucky you get 2. What I mean is aside from security or "fix" updates you will get an Android level update. For instance the Thunderbolt, shipped with 2.2, got an update to 2.3, was lucky to get one to 4.0. Rezound, shipped with 2.3, got an update to 4.0. Now the DNA, shipped with 4.1, should get a 4.2 update. Doubtful it will get a 4.3 (or 5.0) update, but possible. This is just from my experience and observations.

I think HTC will make 2 updates for the GLOBAL DNA phone and possibly one for Verizon, but Verizon will only officially put out 1 update IMO. They won't sink any more $$ into the DNA. But that doesn't matter since as long as the GLOBAL version exists, Verizon users will get theirs. After Moonshine, how can we not believe our DEV can do anything. The only thing that would hurt this phone is if Beaups leaves the DNA community. I've seen where just one strong dev left the community for my phone and the phone support practically all but dried up. He seems to be the king of the DNA. As long as he supports it, we'll be fine.

beaups runs on stock rom.
Somewhat related question. I recently moonshined and now have all the s-off goodness that comes along with it (still on stock ROM minus bloat). Question is, when Verizon starts pushing the next software update, do I need to worry about my phone trying to accept it? Does the customized hboot preclude us moonshiners from getting the update?

Do you have a custom recovery installed. At the least I believe (and its been a while since I go an update on the phone with a custom recovery) that the recovery will not automatically install it. But I think there should be something you can freeze or remove that would prevent the OTA.
The HTC rep I talked to yesterday claimed thatthe DNA is HTCs favorite device. Even more favored than the One. He also claimed that the DNA, for that reason, will be supported with various updates for years to come....carrier permitting.

He was trying to make you feel better by saying so. From VZ track records, we'll be lucky to see Sense 5 by the end of the year if HTC releases it in the next 3 months.
There's no reason it shouldn't get updated. It's still quite new, and hardware is top notch. Now when? Who frigging knows! Verizon hates it's customers.

It does have the hardware and specs. Take Verizon out of the picture and this phone would already be on sense 5 (maybe not 4.2.2 yet). I think once the HTC One drops on Verizon it won't be long before the DNA gets it. Kinda funny Verizon is the last major carrier to get the HTC One and S4. They gotta get their dirty little fingers in there first, just so beaups, adamoutler and crew tell them to suck it.
Honestly, the ONLY thing I like about Verizon is there data speeds. Other wise I'd never of jumped ship from sprint.
