Add sudden death statement in Development section - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
Maybe developers should add in their threads on the development sections if their rom/kernel/etc has the fix for the sudden death issue?

They could but anyway most are always using the most up to date versions, hence sds proof. Furthermore there is rootSU very informative thread.

Erm..........yes!

Maybe we should rename XDA to
Onaplatesoyoudonthavetosearchorthink.com

Problem is that in the last six months their is a vast increase in users bricking phones losing IMEI etc

Yep, and its solely because people refuse to educate themselves, it really has become a case of 'please hold my hand and walk me through everything'
I will never understand why people come to a developer forum and complain about stuff like this
Its pretty obvious the op doesn't actually understand the issue with sds

I'm pretty sure developers don't develop all these roms just to other developers, right?
maybe I really don't understand the issue (I am not a developer) but only the official Samsung firmware released the fix, (and CM too?), maybe many others still use firmware that is old and not fixed?

read the SDS thread

Read my thread about the sds fix that you've already been linked to in this thread. It tells you what has the fix.
Anything current has the fix anyway. Just stay away from old stuff. The fix has been known by developers since January 9th

You guys are too kind...
AFAIK, there is only one AOKP ROM for this i777.
There are a few branch-off ASOP ROMs though.
Out of my curiosity, what is your reason not to use the AOKP in here?

I think the the reason people might be giving you a hard time is because you started a thread and clearly put yourself self above the Golden Rule of using the search button. It is pretty clear what we have in the development forum dude. So whether you have you reasons or not for using whoever's rom here. It doesn't matter. You didn't search. You wanted others to do the foot work for you and spoon feed you. You are now just another statistic that is clogging up xda with useless threads. Thanks!

You are hilarious. Have you even looked at the total load of crap that is piling up in the AOKP thread? Talking about useless threads. really ?
Use the search button? you got to be kidding me. Some people may want to browse the latest technical issues that came up, and need to read thru pages and pages of total off-topic blabber.
I have a news flash for you. People will continue to post questions and there is nothing you can do to stop it.
Maybe a private forum is a good solution for you if you get annoyed by people asking questions.

Well basically what you are doing here defeats your whole purpose of this useless thread. You've started a thread that adds no value to this community and proves your disregard for the forum by using the search button. So to be fair. This seems to me that it could be considered to be about as "off topic" as my thread can get. Good job!

im not annoyed at all dude. im just stating a fact. the fact is, that you couldn't even figure out how to use the search button. thats ridiculous. the search button filters out what you're calling "off-topic blabber." so you should really begin to school yourself on how to use it. it would be awesome.
i don't need a private forum. but thanks for the suggestion. I actually add value to this community and keep the development moving. what do you do? I'm thinking it might be a good idea to take your own suggestion and start a private forum for yourself. that way your non-development and opinionated threads can be elsewhere from the actual development and XDA can continue to be what its about. DEVELOPMENT.

what im telling you is. and i am sincerely attempting to help you. is if you dont like the off topic stuff in my thread and thats the only reason keeping you from it. you can filter the thread with the search function. i fix a lot of things and there is a ton of actual development in there if you choose to search for it. i have to use the search button in my own thread at times. its just how popular threads go sometimes.

Man, if that's the reason you don't want to try Task's AOKP, you should try to come up with some other reasons. His ROM is awesome. He updates at a maddening pace and fixes a lot of things. He is an awesome developer. Also, like he's been telling you, the search button makes it easy to find something you may want to find, you don't have to read through all of it if you don't want to. Sincerely speaking, you should at least give the ROM a try, the download link is in the first page, so there is no off-topic posts to read through to try it. I promise you you will not be disappointed.

[CM9 RC1] How to install

Hi guys I haven't found a topic yet where to find an installation guide for the first release candidate of CM9
I'm new to roms installation and I was looking for a detailed guide or someone that explain me how to...
I'm running a stock kernel, a stock rooted rom (ics 4.0.3 xwlp7) and I haven't installed the Cwm I have it in the internal storage memory and I have to flash it every time I need to use it
That's all
My questions are:
I need a particular kernel? How to change it?
I need Cwm installed or I can leave it like it is now?
I need doing or I can just flash it from the device?
Thanks

Well, I think if you can't figure out the answers using the search function, and opening a thread for this in the original development section it would be better not to install CM9...
Have you even tried to Google that? C'mon, there are so many guides out there! Don't be that lazy! Oh, and next time write in the right section.

Read and figure it out on your own. If you don't, you're going to be dependent on other people the whole time you do anything to your device. It's your device, do some research on your own.

YES
WICH OF THE TWO YOU ARE?
A PERSON THAT NEED HELP? I DON'T KNOW YOU BUT MAYBE SOMETHIMES U NEEDED

Typing in all caps is not helping you get your point across.
This is a community, yes. But it's supposed to be a community of developers and hackers. Or at the very least, people who come here wanting to research and learn. But since everyone and their mother now joins and expects to have information spoon-fed to them, it's become a community, as you said, of "users"; i.e. people who simply use.
My point - the information you were seeking could have been found with a search. Rule #1 of the forum rules is:
1. Search before posting.
Use one of our search functions before posting, whether you have a question or something new to share, it's very likely someone already asked that question or shared that news.

Hell, the instructions for installing CM9 are - surprise, surprise, in the CM9 thread. The same thread that had links to download it. You clearly were able to find it to download it, so did you just skip over the instructions on how to flash?
Give this a read.
Writing in caps doesn't solve anything, you were told what you should have been told, not to discourage you but to save you bricking your phone.
If you can't read few stickies, can't read few threads, that's what you will get.
Read them, than ask and you will be surprised how many will actually help you.
i was not doing controversy, caps was not intended (working i have to use it)
I was just saying that if someone needs help you could at least direct it in the right direction, instead of always criticizing that's all I know how to use the "search" but obviously I did not have any clear answers to my questions that's why I opened a topic in hopes of getting answers. I've had no answers, I had to assume and tests.
fortunally everything went well
Its suppose to be a community of android developers (note: The name of this website!!!)
No one is required to help another person, they choose to help. Some people were nice enough to post guides, faq and etc. The majority of all questions or problems asked has an answer or solution posted. It is the responsibility of the user to search and read them.
Any new users should read the stickies FIRST before posting. Every one of your questions has answers in the stickies. If people dont bother reading guides and faqs, they have a higher chance of ruining their phone.
As you said, there was a guide, you followed it and solved it yourself. Why didnt you simply search for it, BEFORE you posted this.

A. You're not allowed to post a "what is the best_____" thread
B. Radio is location dependant, so you can start trying them out. (they take a few cycles for them to settle, just like flashing roms and kernels)

This really isn't the place to ask questions... And you could ask that question in the siyah discussion thread. Rather than the development thread.
Ok m8
I am using Dorimanx v7.33 for JB.. on android v4.2.1 - cm10.1 I am using this so I can undervolt to get the battery to last longer. Doing the same thing I can get 2 days on ICS.
I dont know about radio but try out GetRIL so the RIL and Baseband are the same on every one they never match.

It's better for new guys to read for themselves, so they know what they are flashing. Otherwise you get dozens of annoying questions afterwarts about their rom, because they blindly follow advise about roms that are based on personal preferrences (which maybe don't match their own expectations).

Ok well first off this is not a help forum. IT is a mobile Development forum. Which means you are expected to put in the work. And that includes doing the proper research.
Yes some have been able to make it happen but it is buggy and can lead to needing to reflash the rom and reformat the sd card.
Thread moved to proper forum.
you mean you couldn't find the proper section for questions and help? yeah right.
also, please check the first rule of xda

Or just search XDA and read stickied faqs and guides .
No i don't know where the relevant threads either .
