CM 10.1 Audioout_2 battery drain - LG Optimus L9 P760, P765, P768, P769

Hey guys p769 user on AntonX CM 10.1 7/19 release w/ un-tweaked kernel. Im having awful battery life and BBS lists Audioout_2 under partial wakelock as the problem. I did some Google searching and wanted to try some things one of which was going into accessibility and turning talkback on and then unticking all the settings, but when i turned it on the phone froze so i had to remove battery and reboot. I would have posted in the CM thread, but i don't have 10 posts. If anyone has any insight that would be great.

Thanks for the info, yeah it just crashed on me too, an easy way to turn it off (instead of pulling out the battery) hold the power button for 10 seconds.
Update: it's a bad bug alright, fastest way to fix (for me) it is to restore a backup. A backup is not needed, It just makes it hard to turn it off

Thanks for the response. I found that once i turned talkback on it would freeze the phone on boot every time, so i wiped and rebooted from cwm. i was still unable to verify the persons claims of talkback having something to do w/ audioout_2.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy S II Freezes on Standby [SOLVED]

I would like some help from users having same issues. I bought my SGS II About 3 weeks ago... It was all working fine... stock KG7 not rooted. A few days ago it started doing some weird stuff... like random reboots during standby and freezing unable to turn on unless you take out the battery... tried to restore factory setting i installed the new LightningRom 6.1 and the issue is still there... is there a logging app that can save log before a crash? so i can see what is happening? Or is someone having the same issue as i am. Thank you very much for your time and help Cheers
PS. tried to format usb storage and still have same problem... so really don't know what is the problem...
I have finally found a solution... installed XXKH3 FW stock, not rooted yet, and installed an application from the android market called Load Monitor
Code:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.landak.loadmon
and enabled only Add Notifications, only notify high load, autostart and only screen on... seems to do the job, no battery drainage and most of all NO SOD (Sleep Of Death) or restarts anymore
Hope it helps someone
Cheers
Bump
Bump... Added VillianRom newest version still have the freeze on standby problem.. Apparently when no apps are running it just crashes and i can't turn it on only by going to CWM or odin... and reseting... Any help would be really appreciated
Do you have a software installed called SetCPU?
No... only facebook, google+, Game Dev Story and Dragon Fly...
Faulty Hardware
Mine did the same; replacement phone is perfect.
Sadly it's not an option for me... i bought it used without warranty papers... it was cheaper... i may have stumbled on a solution... cleared Dalwin Cache and it seems to work good now... we will see in a few days how the situation progresses... i will keep you posted
Installed stock XWKF3 AND IT SEEMS to have fixed the prob. Left it overnight unplugged with wifi off and i had a 1% drain of battery for over 8 hours :-D very sattisfied. Installed standard apps now so.i`ll see how it goes. Keep you posted.

Had to turn on Wake Lock. That means my phone doesn't go to deep sleep anytime. Tried a bunch of roms and all the same result. Tried setcpu configs of all kinds and nothing still. Still get freeze up and insane battery drain durring deep sleep. What helps is flashing syah kernel an putting min cpu freq to 100 that way not that much battery drain.
Any1 have an idea what to do?

i also have the same problem on my gt-9100T and still it is still happening. first time it happened when i uninstalled social hubs. at that time i was running lite'ning rom v6.1 and only used the phone for 1 month. then the freeze/ sleep of death occur.
i have tried flashing to stock rom/modem/kernel from intratech thread to no avail.
some people can fix the prob by cleaning the battery contact point. some by cleaning the mini usb port. still no luck for me.
right now running on criskelo latest build (KL1 2.3.6)with T-KL1 modem, siyah .9+ and the problem still persist.
so, installed load monitor and u/v and set the min freq to 100Mhz to preserve battery but still can only last 12hours even unused.load monitor seems to use a lot of juice. very frustrating. i need to tick the wakelock option otherwise SOD right after the screen is off.
I am still hoping someone/anyone who might have the solution the share with us all.
is it a good idea to format /system + /emmc + everything? i have done full wipe, still no good.

so far no problem
thank you..

I just installed Load Monitor... I just wonder, what exactly is Load Monitor doing? or supposed to do?

[Q] Partial Wakelock from GPSLocationProvider (ICS Passion v13)

I am currently running ICS Passion v13rc1 w/ flashed cleanup:
If I boot my Vibrant I can get deep sleep normally; however after I've opened my maps with GPS on I can no longer get into deep sleep. BetterBatteryStats shows that the partial wakelock is due to GPSLocationProvider; and the only way to get back to deep sleeping is to reboot my phone.
I've tried turning off the GPS & all the things in the Locations settings. I just flashed from Odin -> CM7 (wait 10 minutes, reboot) -> v13rc1 (wait 15 minutes, reboot) -> cleanup (wait 15 minutes, reboot) -> update SU. The GPSLocationProvider only starts to show in partial wakelocks and burn battery after I've opened the Maps app.
I've looked through the Passion v13 thread and have only seen this come up in one post (from back in v10, where the user said that rebooting after using the maps was the only way to get back into deep sleep).
Has anyone else ran into this problem and figured out a way to remedy (without having to restart everytime you open up the map)?
I have the same problem, and the only way I've figured out to fix it is with a reboot. Still searching for a better solution.
I have the exact same problem, don't know how to fix it.

GPS does not work for me. Eats battery too.
I have been trying to get my GPS to stop using Network and only use GPS. I have the exact same issue you have, but I have to reboot to get GPS to work again. I had to stop Data, reboot for the GPS to operate on GPS instead of network. Once I use Map, it converts my GPS to Network and I am done. Reboot for GPS to work. And yes I tried everything except the hardware hack.
Formatted the system/data/cache etc etc and reinstall from scratch. I cannot use the *#*#DIGITS#*#* to get into the LBS Menu. Does not work after the upgrade to ICS, too bad.
Anyways, any help with this would be appreciated. I know its a bit differnt than your issue, but its soo close because IF I could restart the GPS without rebooting, I would be happy with the Passion build very much!

F**k ME this kernel is awesome it fix the GPS problem and my battery last for almost a day

yagf2-GPS Fix for ICS
I had the GPS problem where it would not work after installation of v13rc1. To solve the GPS problem, I used the following: yagf2-GPS Fix for ICS.zip. After flashing this, my GPS worked with no issues, no battery or sleep issues.
I hope this helps.
I found that a lot of the battery drainage, inability to go into deep sleep for me has been from 2 sources of partial wake lock.
1. GPSlocationprovider
2. Mediascannerservice
I found that 2 apps that are fairly common that cause the wake lock on the GPSlocationprovider has been official facebook app and google maps. I can easily uninstall facebook and never use it again, but unfortunately can't go without google maps...
Also found that freezing DRMcontent... service using titanium backup stops the mediascanner wakelock from occuring, but with each reboot of the phone, I need to defrost and then freeze the service again, in order to stop the wakelock.
I'm running AOPK Build 28 with Kiss 5.1 kernel.

Zopo ZP100 Pilot What SHOULD I do??

Hi I got this phone couple of days back. It came flashed with latest Android 4.0.3 (20120608-154131)
I have rooted it using zopoROOTby_Jaynes_android4.0.
It's working fine, but seems the battery life is ridiculous and the battery information is also not reliable, especially after restarting the device
(Sometimes it suddenly decreses a lot and vice-versa).
Also GPS, I tried it out in the open for like 15-20 mins it finds 4-6 sats but DOESN'T lock on.!
And then the market had some incompatible apps, I did the XML trick, didn't work...removed the 5 files again and then gave up, all of a sudden after a restart, market is fully accessible!! (Weird!)
I have backed-up my apps using Titanium free but I want to install CWM recovery. I do not know the exact procedure to follow for the same.
I just want to have the CWM recovery and not want to flash whole ROM again...How to do it???
Also please give me any important suggestions, tips if you have regarding this phone.
Thank you!
Anyone have anything to say?

Is the phone going in deep sleep? (install cpu spy to check). This could be your battery problem. WiFi/3G/Bluetooth and some apps can keep the phone from going into deep sleep. You can try to edit build.prop to help it go into deep sleep.
The gps - theres some things you can edit in gps.conf and secgps.conf to get a faster fix (like changing time servers and how a-gps works).

Seems, it's keeping at 1001 Mhz all the time!! Am I right??
Are there any other ways around it than editing system files??

Yep, looks like it is staying at 1ghz, you can install an app like setcpu to manage the cpu frequency. You will probably be limited by the kernel when it comes to governors (no undervolting either).
If you are not comfortable editing the gps.conf/secgps.conf there are apps for that I think. But it is quite easy with a file manager (root browser for example), the gps.conf tweak is to change the " NTP_SERVER= " to the closest server to where you reside from this site :
http://www.pool.ntp.org/en/
For example if it says NTP_SERVER=0.europe.pool.ntp.org , (edit: noticed you live in India, so you would do it like this):
NTP_SERVER=1.in.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=0.asia.pool.ntp.org
NTP_SERVER=2.asia.pool.ntp.org
If you want to see more on these gps tweaks(I would just do the time server tweak since it works on all phones, I'm not sure if the secgps.conf tweak works with your phone), check out this thread (it's been updated at the bottom of the first post) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1320626
I'm not sure about CWM, I think it has to be tailored to the phone itself because of the location of the recovery partition.
Edit2: I noticed in the picture that your phone has 1ghz , 500 mhz 250mhz and 166mhz. You can add a profile to setcpu to set the CPU to max 250mhz while the screen is off for example. This wouldn't fix your deep sleep issue, but would save battery. (Deep sleep is some parts of the CPU turned off, while some parts stay on)
Thanks again! I have set it to 250-1001 ondemand and apply on boot now. But 'deep sleep' is still unused as per CPU spy, Any clues as to how can it be enabled?
About GPS, I can do that. Just that I could live without it for now, but thanks for elaborating it! I will do it tomm. Morn, its 2:39 am.

The deep sleep issue is probably related to some apps keeping the phone on (could be kernel problem also, but I'm not an expert on that so can't say). You can check wake-locks with betterbatterystats. Also, rebooting the phone helps(rebooting after charging also helps I noticed). Edit: Some tips on wake-lock : http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Wakelocks

Thanks for your reply. I think it is more of a Kernel problem only.
ust found out using Batterystats that As soon as I get a message or notification, It triggers LED light and a WAKE LOCK (Called 'Leds Wakelock' ) Which prevents phone from going into deep sleep, and it remains that way hogging battery! Only solution is to REBOOT and hope you don't get any notification!
BEFORE REBOOT
AFTER REBOOT
If your phone has a cyanogenmod rom (I haven't looked into the popularity of it), there is an option to turn off the LED notification in the cyanogenmod settings. Does Zopo release the source code for the kernel / rom?
I read in the other thread about the phone having issues when not in the performance governor, that is a shame, maybe the voltage is adjusted lower at lower frequencies causing the reboots.

I don't know whether it is cyanogenmod (I don't even know what that is..) But my phone doesnt have ANY option regarding that. But
Here's a good thing, since I restarted to take screen shot I've had several notifications LED flashes, and the 'LEDS Wakelock' hasn't reared it's ugly-head!
ALSO I have again set the Governor to 'On demand' and now it seems doing better no Hang up for a good time played AB space. going good!
I think that LEDS Wake lock was root of all troubles. Will have to keep a lookout for it.
Thanks a lot for your guidance!
Have you come up with a solution that can kill that wakelock other than reboot? From my observation that leds wakelock only happen when the battery's going low (<15%) and it won't go away after that.
Dirty solution is to patch framework-res.apk and modify the level of battery low notification.
I am using a newer custom ROM 100500 v2 and no longer have any issues with wake locks!

[Q] gpsd drain even while GPS off?

Hi!
I have been having an issue with my S III lately. For some time I have been trying to understand and configure my gps settings so that I could have gps always activated, without it draining the battery too heavily. I mainly tried manipulating my apps' location settings.
With no consistent results, I ultimately decided to try and turn gps off altogether in the pull down bar. Now, here's the issue; even with gps off, both the stock battery tool and GSam Battery Monitor report a 25% battery drain by "gpsd".
What am I doing wrong, and what can be done about it?
Thanks!
Stock S III, 4.1.2, unrooted.
Didn't wipe data when you upgraded?
Wipe the data of the service responsible.

Thanks! If you are referring to the Android update, I simply installed it without wiping anything.
What exactly would wiping data entail?

I am pretty sure I disabled everything connected with Google and location...
Sorry for posting in the wrong place, will do next time!
it seems there is a bug in gpsd. sometime it hangs at 100% cpu (25% -> 1 of 4 cores) you can check this in shell with "top" cmd
if it hangs only a reboot help.
you will notice a bit lag when you switch your phone on and it gets a bit warm when this happens
for me it happens once every 1-4 days and i have allready disabled all google location settings and samsung security settings
any idea ? i dont find anything else on google.
btw. it looks like this started happen with XELLA but cant say it for sure
/inteks
That sounds exactly like the issue I have been having, especially it happening only one in every few days.
I can confirm that it seems to have had a definitive starting point, but not sure what changes I made at that point. What do you mean by XELLA? And are any other ways of telling when this happens?

The same thing happens to me but whats weirder is that it only happens when i go to the gym! It never happens anywhere else but there and it takes a long time to turn the phone back on. I've gotten to the point where i have to shut it off while I'm at the gym before it shuts itself off. So i cant really use it there anymore. Its really annoying. I also get a blue-screen but it doesn't happen as much as it use to.

I had sleep of death issues on the stock 4.1.2 ROM. I think usb debugging or something in developer options was causing it. Now I don't have sleep of death issues anymore. I have developer options and usb debugging disabled. I also checked disable wifi on sleep. Some posts said it was a wifi issue, others said that it an app compatibility issue. I'm not sure what causes it. I'm just happy that I no longer have issues.
Had the same issue. Switched to pa 3.99 RC 2.
I have the same issue on my phone, it happens over every single rom I have used, and I have tested just about all of them, (Pandroid, Carbon, Liquidsmooth, rootbox, beanstalk.. just to name a few) The only rom that did not SOD was the stock rom, but I have no idea why. My theory is something happens after the first week of use that is clogging up the phone in the system somewhere, because I never get a SOD until after a bit of use. I will be looking more into it after exams this week, and I will keep you guys posted in what I find.
