I have an htc evo 3d cdma. I messed up a lot of stuff on it and now I can't go into recovery. I formatted everything before that, and I can't boot up. Is it possible for me to fix it?
Thanks!

No, I'm S-On
I'm not sure what to tell you,
Can you still get to recovery?
Pretty sure you need to be unlocked
Then you need to flash a stock based Rom
Then you need to.flash the boot.IMG through fastboot

ok first of all to unlock again you need your unlock token from htcdev. the command is "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" without the " "
but you don't need to do that if you just want to get back to stock. leave the bootloader locked and run an RUU from here
one of the sprint ICS ruu should work. I have a gsm device so i'm not really sure which RUU

I'm pretty sure there is no ruu for that update. Since you're s on, it will not work.
Your only option is to get your bootloader unlocked, and reinstall your recovery

Is your bootloader locked? Do you have a custom recovery installed? You must have a locked bootloader and not have flashed a custom recovery.. In other words bone stock

If you are s-off, you can flash any hboot you want.
Dload the hboot, rename it PG86IMG.zip, place on root of sd, power off, hold volume down plus power.
sudo passwd root

Are you running the ruu while the phone is in fastboot? if not then try it that way.
I renamed the file PG86IMG.zip and put it on the root of my SD card and pulled battery, power + volume - , and as soon as it enters boot loader it finds it and then I get the error after it tries to load.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
Is the Ruu you have an .exe if so put your phone into fastboot and plug your phone into your computer and run the ruu .exe on your pc and follow the instructions.
This happened to me while flashing a rom, a project i have for you guys(4+). Had got a good brick and didnt have supercid to flash ruu and was using a at&t cid(another history) however there was no way i could flash recovery (flashed many times and didnt boot) so this is something that may help people on the same situation with s off, this just left status unlocked and tampered went away
get into fastboot(voulme down+ power)
Code:
fastboot oem writecid 1111111
for this step you need ruu, get it from here http://d-h.st/MOw
then write this till it suceeds
Code:
fastboot flash zip 2.17.605.2_rom.zip
then flash a recovery
Code:
fastboot flash recovery path/to/recovery.img
and then
Code:
fastboot reboot recovery
you are now in recovery, flash what you want
Hope This Helps, If So Hit Thanks.
What does a huge brick look like I think I screwed up, I was trying to get s-off by flashing that ruu but it wouldn't work I didn't have full shell root so I flashed a boot IMG that gave me full root but now when I boot up it shows the HTC screen then black I can't get it in to recovery but I can get it in to boot loader please help me I'm completely new to htc

you need to pull the boot.img from the rom zip and flash it via adb. is your bootloader unlocked.
if you are unlocked and s-on you'll have to do this for each rom you flash.

You don't flash the PH98IMG.zip in recovery, put it on the root of your SD Card and flash it via the bootloader (power off, pull battery, power back on while holding volume down til you get the splash screen)
That is what I did I'm not that much of a noob good thought though.

Hello,
Sorry to start this thread because I have read many but can't find the actual help to ROOT this device Verizon HTC6435LVW.
When I go into bootloader I see this (Image: Bootloader)
and when I try to install recovery got this;
(Image: recovery error)
Can someone tell me where to unlock my bootloader or how to root this device.
Thanks in advance.

Before you can send a recovery you need to unlock the bootloader and achieve soff. Like mentioned above the website linked is a one click program that will unlock and turn the device soff. From there you can flash a custom recovery and then flash the newest su zip found on the su website and you will achieve root.
