You don't flash the PH98IMG.zip in recovery, put it on the root of your SD Card and flash it via the bootloader (power off, pull battery, power back on while holding volume down til you get the splash screen)
That is what I did I'm not that much of a noob good thought though.

I don't think you can can you? But I wouldn't worry, it'll come in time. I have a lot of faith, especially with how fast everything else is happening. The phone has only been out 2 weeks today and we have perm-root and recovery both fully working. Now just to get some ROMs going and hopefully full dual-core support.
You should be able to do it through recovery in the form of an update.zip file.

That depends on the rom that's being flashed. Make a custom kernel in the form of a boot.img and I'll try to test it by recovery.
Sent from my HTC_Amaze_4G using xda premium
With the htc unlocked method you might have to flash kernels by booting recovery from fastboot because it has the proper permissions

The kernels I have used have also included system material as well as the boot.img - will that limit what can be done?

So the kernels would have to be a separate zip from the Rom?

Not necessarily. Many developers include a custom kernel with their roms.
I recently installed cm9 and it works great, but there is no market installed, what should i do to get the market?
Did you flash gapps immediately after flashing CM9?

Download them and flash in recovery immediately after flashing the ROM. It's a single zip file. gapps.zip

Ok that worked... Oh yeah!! But when I attempt to flash a bamf it gets stuck on the loading screen...
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA
if you are looking to flash bamf, I think you have to root it first. Unless you are flashing stock rom, you must have your device root first.
Yes, it is rooted....

Is your bootloader locked? Do you have a custom recovery installed? You must have a locked bootloader and not have flashed a custom recovery.. In other words bone stock

I no longer have a laptop, can't use a tablet to do anything and the computers I do have access to will not let me install drivers to utilize adb or fast boot. I have 3.16 flashed to my phone and I am S-off, I tried flashing 2.3.x.x but the touchscreen won't work. I think it has to do with being made for 3.15 and need a PJ75IMG.zip for a later version of TWRP.
I already tried simply renaming the .IMG file but, surprise, that didn't work.
