Hi guys, I want to buy a HTC Rezound & keep my pageplus service. Just wondering if anyone been successful activating it on Pageplus with everything working (Besides 4G)?
I'm coming from a Droid X2 & The community is great but it's also pretty much dead since the bootloader is locked.

Are you happy with your page plus service? Do they really use the verizon towers? Thats what I have been told. I am looking into switching to them. There is a company near my home in NH that will unlock phones and you can get any service on them. I am seriously considereing it......But am a little leerey about it...I need my phone for work and home so I must have good service. They told me it would be $100-150 to unlock my 4G phone. They are not 100%sure they can do it yet, so if they can;t theres no charge.
I was thinking of just getting a regular used 3g smartphone on craigslist and setting it up with pageplus...just to see how the service is, before cancelling verizon.....sound like a good idea or a bad one?
Thanks

Hi,
I just got a new Note for my mom. She is coming from an iPhone 3gs. Do I need to get her a new SIM card? The customer service reps at AT&T said that I do not, but won't that mess up the speed of the phone and stuff like that? Just wondering.
Thanks,
Patti

It'll work , but not lte. I would get a new one. Of course they told me I needed a new one. At least At&t is consistent.
Yes, Lte requires an lte SIM, if you are in an lte area you'll need one to get the best speeds. If lte is not in your area yet you don't really need a new one.
All you need to do is look at the sim num and if its a 25 for 9th and 10th digit then ur good. If its less than that u need a new sim
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
My data wouldn't connect at all until I got an LTE sim. You can download the speed test app to confirm. Also, if you haven't modified it yet, the carrier badge will show what network you're connected to.

They tell you that you have to have the newer sim card no matter what, that is a load of crap. If you have an older simply you have to change the APN setting, but it will still work. Only thing that wouldn't work would be LTE

The iphone has a smaller sim card doesn't it? Its probably easier to get an new sim than to get an adaptor.

The 3GS used a standard sim card whereas the 4 and 4S use the micro, so it'd transfer over just fine

It is needed if you want to take advantage of all data speeds. Yeah you can aupposedly change your apn settings but not everyone who buys an lte phone knows about changing them. When 4g lte phones first came out so many people called in cuz they got new phones. Didnt want to use the new sim ao when the data plan was put to the correct one data still didnt work. Had them use the new sim and issue resolved. End of story

While we are on the topic of simcards (i figured better to ask here then make a new topic) I'm currently in the republic of Georgia and my host mother really likes my galaxy note. while Sam sung phones are very popular here the note is not here. if she was to buy a note online could be put a Georgian simcard in it? the guy at the at&t store before i left said something about the code not being unlocked yet or something so someone there would have to know what they are doing. i know there is a international version so if possible should she buy that person?
The international version comes unlocked meaning that it can use any sim card. I believe you can get it online for between 450 and 550 USD, but I've not looked at prices for a few months.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
The inernational N7000 version is just a little bit different than at&t i717 on the capacitive buttons area. But other than that she won't see any difference. That would be a sweet gift.
Ok thanks for all the replies. From what I have been told, she can keep the 3GS card which fits just fine, and she can keep her old 250MB data plan for now since she barely used any of that data with the iPhone. But I'm suspecting now that she can actually see the screen and she has been playing around with this phone more in the past week than she has with the iPhone in the past 3 years, I better upgrade her soon. Oh, the reason she didn't get a new SIM card, is that this phone was an insurance replacement for my old phone. And I got a new phone in the mean time while waiting (S3). So we are both happy, but I miss my screen real estate!!!
Thanks,
Patti

XDA is no longer worth my time.
So I'm planning on selling my dna very soon. Tired of small memory, bad battery life, and sim card problems. My question is, if I remove my sim card, then sell it. Will the buyer still be using my plan because of the esn being linked to my account? Also I want to pay full retail and get an s4. Will just inserting my sim card into the s4 switch my phone over? Thanks guys
Ya the other person who buys will not be using your plan
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda premium
No just putting in your SIM wont work on the s4 .
You first need to release the esn on the DNA once you sell so that the buyer can have a clean esn.
Then after you will call and have the s4 on your account an then use the SIM you had or get a new one

If it's the same SIM yes it would work but you have to relese the old esn bc you have have to devise on one phone so once your account is open meaning no phone on the account you can then swap

You do NOT need to worry about doing anything. Just take out your SIM. When you get another phone, just put it in. I had the same phone on my account, and my boss's account at the same time while just holding onto the SIM cards. (Meaning I didnt have a phone in my possession, JUSt a sim card linked to my account.)
That was when the Galaxy S3 came out, but I've done the same thing multiple times dealing on craigslist to keep my Unlimited data when I didnt have a spare phone available.
Whether or not that is something you are "supposed" to do, I can't speak for that.
SIDE NOTE: On the DNA, make sure to Factory wipe AND wipe under the Storage section... I've bought soo many DNA's with peoples pictures and such on them b/c a factory wipe doesn't delete it all.
Hey guys just wanted to bump this. Thanks for the responses. So how do I go about clearing my dad's esn? And will the sim card swap work or not?

Just wanted to bump this up one more time. So to clarify, I don't have to worry about clearing my esn, the buyer won't be on my bill, and I can just switch sim cards to activate the gs4?
All lte devices with ,4g don't require the old method of calling in the esn change.
IF it's lte phone just swap the lte SIM and it picks up and registers as your device

what they said. there is no clearing of an esn with 4g phones. just take the sim card out. bam. dunzo.

Onboard storage is faster, many things have to be stored on the internal storage so it can still run out even with an sd card.

If you can get 400 for the DNA you would be at the top of the market. More likely to get around 350, though you might want to do it soon - VZW is giving away the DNA for free at the moment, and that always pushes resale into the $hitter.

Let's not get into actually trying to buy or sell on here (rules and all), if you want a DNA, there are some good deals over at swappa.com, let's use that instead.
This thread was ok for advice on wiping and stuff, but I think we've covered that, so I am going to close this up.

What Straight Talk option... CDMA or GSM, the procedure is very different and of varying degree of difficulty...
CDMA (Verizon/Sprint) - need a donor ST phone, and clone the ESN/MEID, plus tweaks in the radio settings. Unlocked or S-OFF and root required, 3G data possible, no 4G
GSM (AT&T/T-Mobile) - Edge (2G, around ~220kb/s) data possible out of box with no changes to phone except change radio mode and add APN setting. 3G/4G possible on AT&T only with pretty in depth modification of radio settings and some prop.build file edits, this is still in the works for a walk-thru, this also would require an unlocked bootloader or S-OFF and root.

if you want i can guide you on how to get straight talk working via a sim card and get 3g and very soon to come 4g....i too use straight talk and am developing on enabling 4g for all carriers....if you go with a sim there is a very certain sim card you have to get
@REV3NT3CH are you making a guide for it? It's going to cost me over $500 to switch to my own Verizon contract so I may switch to ST until I save up enough money.

The method to move it to Straight Talk w/Verizon towers is the relatively the same as moving a Rezound to PagePlus, follow that tutorial except substitute a Straight Talk 3G smartphone (instead of a PP phone) as a donor and program the Rezound accordingly.
If AT&T has service in your area and you are not comfortable with the heavy modifications required to do that, I would recommend moving to GSM service... get a Straight Talk AT&T GSM SIM and go from there. AT&T is recommended over T-Mobile as the frequecies used for higher speed data on T-Mobile are not compatible with the Rezzy.
Why is it going to cost you $500 to get out of your current contract? Honestly, unless because of service coverage you are forced to Verizon, drop them completely... A good GSM smartphone with HSPA+ can be had for well under $150 used, a new Nexus 5 will set you back $350, and a Straight Talk/AIO Wireless/AT&T Go Phone SIM card will run you $45-$60 per month, saving $40-$60 per month, easily paying for the phone in a just a few months.
Well I'm getting off my parents line and getting my own. Considering my lack of credit, Verizon is going to charge $400 for a security deposit, along with the first months bill. If I want to buy a phone that is on there too ($199 but I'll get $100 back). I have considered a gsm company, but up here in the mountains, Verizon is basically monopoly. All the other carrier's coverage is hit and miss.

Actually, for that kind of money I would look at some of the ZTE, LG, or Samsung phones that Straight Talk has that are CDMA (Verizon) based, for under $200 you can get ST phone that will just work (sometimes using Verizon ST on a flashed phone isn't the most reliable for all services) with Jellybean. ZTE are not the best phones, but they are not crap either, a friend has the ZTE Solar and loves it... Plus you will still save $50/month over a traditional VZW plan.

The S3 is nice, but at $399 its a little steep, although you might be able to get one on eBay for around $320 or so. The ZTE Solar is $179 online, 4.5" display, dual core 1.2ghz, 768MB ram, and JB 4.1. Not super impressive, but acceptable.
EDIT: Nevermind... it seems the Straight Talk ZTE phones are all GSM, not Verizon based, it has a SIM card when I looked at my friends this morning. Guess I was barking up the wrong tree the whole time. :/
No problem, I appreciate the input! I wish st would get the S4 already

Ah... gotcha... Out of the box you will only get Edge, the radios in the Rezound are not tuned for US GSM frequencies.
HSPA(+) is possible in some instances with significant tweaks to the build.prop file and radio NV settings, not a procedure to be taken lightly... And the signal has to be really good or it won't work... I mean REALLY good... This is @REV3NT3CH area of expertise, I'll tag him and hopefully he can be of assistance.

I need help. I am losing my mind. I ordered a Verizon note 2 from eBay with a bad display so I could swap the mobo from it into a Sprint note 2 with a good display that I had laying around. The seller swears the phone was functional before the screen broke. Once I installed the mobo in the Sprint note 2 I immediately noticed it had no signal. Thinking I got scammed I bought another board off of eBay and upon installation I am in the same situation - no signal. Since then I have installed both Verizon mobo in two different Sprint note 2s and both have no signal.
Now, I realize that I could have gotten scammed on both boards, but I find it highly unlikely. An I missing something? Is it not as simple as just swapping a Verizon mobo into a Sprint housing? Do I have to swap every single piece from a Verizon phone into a Sprint housing? Doesn't Sprint and Verizon use the same frequencies, therefore their antenna arrays would be the same? I'm hoping someone can give some answers to the above. I thank anyone in advance the can help cure my insanity!

Unlike Sprint, Verizon uses a SIM card to activate on the network. I bet both your motherboards would work (assuming they have clean ESN) if you went and activated the phone at a Verizon store. I'm guessing you don't want to signa two year contract to test this, so if one of your friends has Verizon you can try to swap their SIM card into your Note2 and see if it picks up any signal.
I don't think it's possible for a Verizon Note II to work on the Sprint network though, if that is what you were trying to do. Sprint has some special chip that hard-codes the SIM information in their phones.
