[PATCH]GSM Fix for XT912 Spyder - Motorola Droid RAZR

This is for XT912(CDMA) only
What it does.?
This allows XT912 users to run there phone on GSM networks on Custom Roms (AOSP, SlimKat, CM etc.)
Since the ICS update, XT912 is capable of working on both GSM and CDMA network. However the GSM bands for US carriers are protected by a security layer so it doesn't work on US GSM carriers.
As long as you run the stock (or stock based) ROM, the GSM works fine. But the Global phone capabilities have not been included in the CM/AOSP/AOKP based ROMs yet.For that you need the GSM fix.
How To.?
Boot into recovery
Wipe Cache & Dalvik
Flash the zip
Wipe Cache/dalvik again
Reboot
Thanks.!!
Thanks to ZKK007 from Droidrzr.com and HSD-Pilot.
Special Thanks to @klenamenis for the Dynamic build.prop edit script.
UPDATE:Now the Fix uses a dynamic script so it is no longer specific to one Rom.
PS: I searched the forums a lot and whatever I tried,it gave me some errors like sms issues or signal strength not showing correctly so I decided to make this myself. After a lot of Hit & Trials finally this is the result.

Loss of Data connectivity with Verizon when patch applied
I tried this patch on the stable build of 10.1.2 and all seem to go well however when I try to use any data with Verizon I get an error saying there is no internet connection. The Phone still seems to work ok though. I was hoping to be able to try a T-Mobile sim in the phone to see if their service would work for me but I still need to be able to use Verizon in the mean time, has anyone tried this patch with success? I can't even get the phone to stay on the "LTE/CDMA/EvDo" radio when I check that option in the Mobile Networks settings

It says clearly the Patch is for GSM users on non-US carriers. You cannot use your phone on US GSM Carriers. It is locked.

In the past, I have told Verizon I am traveling outside the US and want to use a local SIM card and they have assisted me in unlocking the SIM. Be that as it may, my problem had to do with not being able use the normal Verizon bands after the patch. The problem was resolved when I went into safe strap and wiped the system portion of the ROM. I thought I would have to restore from a back up but the phone booted as normal now with the Verizon radios working. I don't understand it but am glad it is working.

Can i Flash this on the new CM 10.2 nightly also? thanks.

I tried to flash the patch to CM 10.1.2. and it works! The GSM data and phonecall works fine. However i have question, when I switched back to CDMA will I still get the 3G evdo signal? because now it only shows 1x signal. thanks

You can change the network type through settings. However the data may not work on CDMA with the patch.

CyanogenMod 10.1.3 RC1
Now I'm using the 10.1.3 RC1 version, when I install the patch says I'm using version 10.2.
This is normal? I'm using the RC1 version although it says I'm using version 10.2?
Note: the phone tells me I have the RC1 update available even when I install it

Yes.! That is cause the fix includes an edited build.prop from the 10.2, as mentioned in the first post.
Though it will work without any problem but if you want one specific for 10.1.3 RC1, just extract your build.prop and send me. I'll make one specific for your build.

[PATCH][xt912]Patch to fully enable GSM on every Rom | see main thread

This is a patch to fully enable GSM on every Stock Rom, on every AOSP Rom and on every Android version.
This in not for US users, in US the GSM is locked in RIL.
Release 4.x
This patch will enable:
-GSM
-SMS
-MMS
-3G Data
-USSD Code
-Call Forwarding
I'm constantly updating only this main thread and I will answer only in it, I have no time to update and control every thread in sub-forums.

Kernel
First of all, thanks for the patch.I'm planing to use it for the eclipse rom.
But there is still a problem. The kernel. Some roms are based on the american kernel. And flashing that kernel on eu devices will take me to fastboot mode even with the cid partition erased.
But i guess that this problem needs to be discussed with the rom developer.

Thanks.I'm running jelly bean,so I cant flash the rom.Too bad
We managed it to boot stock Rom on kexec kernel finally . I will release a kexec patch + gsm patch tonight. Then you can run any rom while the stock kernel doesn't matter. I will do the same for cdma, so cdma users can run any gsm rom. The kernel will be a unmodified one, no extras so far. Keep in mind that JBX KERNEL will not with with it!
The first bigger project for advanced stock experience is catalyst 3 rom on JBX Kernel. Maybe also tonight ..

Btw: This "patch" doesn't work for GSM users - only for XT912 which is in GSM networks. The ril libs are responsible, so XT910 users will not be able to pass SIM pin.
But doesn't matter. I made a new GSM patch for it..

[Q] XT912 GSM question

I have Verizon XT912 I unlocked it and tried to install few roms on slot 1 and 2.
I placed a European SIM card inside and using it in Belgium.
I found out the the only way to use data is install 4.12 rom, 4.22 will work but data will not.
When I'm out of Europe I forward my cell phone do a voicemail in the office by using **21* and the number.
To disable forwarding I'm using the code ##21#.
This worked on every GSM phone, but with Verizon phone and sim card I get a message:
"Call forward is disabled outside verizon wireless network"
Does anyone know hos to solve this problem?
No one knows?
I just to completely remove all verizon rom kernel etc and flush a GSM rom, is it possible?

you should try out some ROMS like cyanogenomd or maybe Eclipse ROM for xt912.
they get rid of all the crap.

I tied installing few roms, none worked correctly.
Eclipse is the only one that worked, but it is 4.1.1, I still have forwarding issue.
I'm looking for 4.2.2 that will work.

[Rom] [VZW] SafeStrap 139.12.57

I've spent the weekend trying to make a safestrap rom out the newest update from T-mobile. As far as I can tell everything is working the particular steps I did were
Disabled Wi-Fi in stock ROM before flashing
I'm not sure if this does anything but someone suggested this for fixing wifi not always coming up. I'm not sure if it matters but if you don't disable WiFi in the stock slot and WiFi in the SafeStrap slot doesn't work then mention it in the comments.
Create new rom slot of at least the default size
Flash vzwupdat.zip
Flash root, whatever other mods you may want
The kernel is still the old one, I just added the wifi drivers to the original rom to try and alleviate the issues that kept people from being able to turn on WiFi. I also added the build.prop and eri.xml from the stock Verizon ROM to fix T-CDMA64 showing as the Mobile Network.
Will you update now that the OTA for Verizon has been released?
The short answer is no. The Verizon update is the same software wise as this version. The modems were updated and some of the security binaries are updated. If you use this you are essentially using the newest software you could possibly use. Trying to modify Verizon's OTA to work with safestrap is going to be counterproductive because there is so much carrier specific branding and dependencies. This does include all the same camera updates, but to alleviate some of the problems that people have with call quality I will look into a flashable radio if someone else doesn't do it 25/10/13

I just added the vzw build.prop and made sure to switch to the right network type lte/cmda auto(prl) every time I boot the phone. No issues so far. Is the eri.xml just for people with safestrap?

On most ports from GSM to CDMA the eri is missing an entry to tell the phone "Hey, this network is called 'Verizon Wireless'." It keeps users from seeing the T-CDMA64 as their network provider. If you do flash it on your dev edition I just warn you that this was designed for being used as a SafeStrap ROM. It doesn't contain a boot.img and may not boot on the dev editions.

Does this cause any problems with safestrap??
I only ask because I flashed the tmo ROM the other day with no issues. Had data and WiFi working great. When I rebooted to get into ss I bootlooped like a son of a beotch. Had to fxz back to stock. Saw a few other users with the same problem flashing the same tmo ROM.

My only thing, and I'm new to SS so I know it's something I'm doing, is when I switch to stock slot and then back to where this ROM is, I've lost data on the custom slot. Like I clean flashed. Is there a way to maintain all my user data on slot 1 while switching to stock?

Backing up to a new rom slot is really just to have your stock rom on that rom slot. All that is needed is to create the rom slot and then flash this zip.

Theoretically you should be able to use it the same way on AT&T but it may just cause your network to say "Verizon Wireless" in the notification shade and the quick settings tile.

I do not believe this should occur. I would post over on the rootzwiki forum on the SS page because it is probably an issue with SS. Certain user data is getting stored differently because of how the Moto X is set up from what I have gathered. I know Hashcode just change in the new SS where he was storing certain things so that might be part of the problem. Make sure you are on the newest SS and post what occurred over there so hashcode can look into it.

I'm guessing your phone number is listed as 000-000-0000? Your status bar shows LTE and you have data connectivity but oddly cannot call or text? Strangely multiple people are running into this condition this week.
Check recent posts in this forum - one mentions "000-000-0000" in the subject, another is "SMS and phone issues" or similar. Simple process - they saved my ass last night.
Edit: Subject is "DNA texting and calling issue", "No signal, phone number, SIM problem? Number 000-000-0000"

I can't help with the 000-000-0000 but in general CM 11 is much more stable than CM 10.2.
Try Carbonrom 4.3, it's stable and Ive been running it troublefree for 3+ months. Otherrwise try a Google Edition ROM for the stability and similarity to AOSP. You can supplement any missing things with xposed framework.
All the rom listed above are pretty much stable. I don't believe its a rom error. I believe he/she needs to reflash a radio to fix the partition.

I had to reflash stock rom and stock recovery then do a factory reset to fix the radio partition. Once that was done I was able to reflash CWM and a custom rom, I just went with CM 11 and it seems to be stable from what I've seen so far.
TY for yalls help, it took some research and effort.

I had to reflash stock rom and stock recovery then do a factory reset to fix the radio partition. Once that was done I was able to reflash CWM and a custom rom, I just went with CM 11 and it seems to be stable from what I've seen so far.
TY for yalls help, it took some research and effort.

XT912 is not gsm. Its gsm+cdma.
For custom ROMs if you want to use XT912 on gsm, you'll need the GSM fix for that.
