Is a security measure, have it renamed to ..jpg or .mp3 or .png or .gif or .txt and change it back to .apk when yo receive it.

I just told you a workaround, bluetooth would not send an .apk file, you have to rename the extension of the apk to something else and change it back when you receive it.
Edit:fixed some typos

[Guide] How to Change the notification-sound =D

Hello everybody,
This is my first guide and i didn't see any other thread for changing it.
U need root
Here we go:
1) u need a .ogg sound-file
2) rename it in a already existing notification-sound (like tinkle.ogg)
3) copy this file into /system/media/audio/notifications
4) go to settings/sound&display/notification and check your changed sound (like tinkle)
5) done
Sent from my rooted 026 x10i using XDA App
Err... you could easily change it to other ones by installing handcent SMS without rooting.
Yes but there are people who are NOT using handcent-sms and i just wanted to say that it's possible without any app...
And hancent sms can't change the alarm clock sound....
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Try Zedge application on the market, you can change any sms or call notification

I've found just creating folders on the sd and putting files in are enough, my alarm is an mp3 named Airraid, and my other two are also mp3s with their original names.

jus use ringdroid to edit the song.. then save as ring tone or notification... so easy
Im using zedge, and its a little slow, but will change your tones. Also folders in the SD called ringtone notification and alarm will pick up in the sounds and display menus
I use Kiss ringtones. New on market and Absolutely great and easy

notifications &

...which are placed in media\audio, then use settings to choose my tones. Not sure why it doesn't work for you.

Nah...
Just convert your music to M4A then put them in sdcard/media/audio/notications.
No need for root.

Ok, found a way. Use Astro to browse the files in the "Litening Wallpaper" .apk file. You can than copy the wallpaper file you want onto your SD card. It should appear in your gallery, like every other picture.

Boot sound

Where do I put it and what do I need to name it? I cannot get the found to play at boot...

Sound*
Sent from my rooted/unlocked mopho
In sytem/media (the same folder as the bootanimation.zip), go to audio/notifications and put it there.
as to what to name it. the bootanimation.zip will look for a specific file i think, so whatever the readme of the .zip file says.
you will have to use root explorer.
BTW someone will probably yell at you for not putting this in the general section.
Thank you..finally got it to work

exactly. did you read my post? i believe i stated that.
The desc.txt does not list a filename for the sound but just merely to put an "s" to indicate there is sound. Do you or anyone else here know the filename to use? For the Hero it was android_audio.mp3 but for Motorola(s) especially the Photon, I haven't come across any specifics as to what the filename should be.

Not sure. i just know that when i changed to the Bionic boot animation, the desc.txt pointed to a file named Bionic.ogg. I just assumed that the desc.txt always gave the name of the sound file it needed.

Turning up the volume on your headphones
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
this works, thanks, most noticeably louder on bootsound of arctic.. now this made my phone too loud, but louder the better
When y trie to download chrome say "This file appears to be malicious."
Why ?
Very noticeable difference using Etymotic HF5's with the razr. Flashed the zip using cwm. Huge thanks!
Will this make a difference in the loudness of the internal speaker? I don't have a respectable set of wired headphones to try it on.. only a moto s9-hd bluetooth set, which I know this will not help.
Read a news article stating that beats only works with HTC music player right now. In the future that will change.

For starters swear again and you'll be reported. As the other user said. If the op can source the system sounds he wants, he will have no trouble using them on his HOX+. It's easy to relate a particular sound with a system operation. Just delete/backup original and remame the new one......

I don't want you guys to fight lol.
I just need help to do so. However i dont think there are any File/directories to be renamed in the first place since there are no sounds!
So guys, use your Intelligence and Experience to make this possible, don't fight lol. Thanks

However I downloaded an app called "Galaxy S4 For All" from the play store that contains all the audio files. However, i can't find them in the root of my device so i cant copy the files. Any suggestions on how to find the audio files?
Basically what i mean is that i want to view the content of the Apk file. How?
Edit: I figured it out. I changed the apk file to .zip and everything worked out!
Just one thing left, i currently have MultiLing keyboard installed. Can i change the Keypress sounds of this keyboard?
