Currently I am going through each and every post of the android development sub-sub-forum..

Hi cvchetan,
to my opinion this is a not needed Sisyphean task.
You'd have to clean thousands of useless posts and flame wars.
The main Problem is, that there are lots of users that start threads again and again without using the forums search.
And: Some People cross post in wrong threads so that the threads go off topic very soon.
Also flaming and swearing against some people is a main problem.
(That's why most X10-Root-Devs gone private).
I'd say: from now, keeping the eyes open and moderate here and there, as you began recently, would be enough to keep this Kindergarten under control...

wel that is indeed a good idea...
but then we need to remove unwanted posts and threads so tht the threads become useful to any new members or visitors as they do not have to read through all unwanted data..

What about just making the most useful one sticky, clean the waste out of them and close them?
So this ones would be the reference.
Within first post could a link to a discussion thread.
This behavior works very well over at gsmfreeboard.com .
My Idea: put all good guides into an own sub category "Guides".
These Guides should be closed. If there are any increments, these Posts / Threads could be opened for a short period of time.
They can be edited by the thread starter / poster anyways.
Then there should be a second sub category "Discussion on Guides", where common users can ask everything, regarding the posts.
I have a suggestion for a new sub-forum. Something along the lines of "X10 Café" where the discussions could be informal for more general ramblings about the X10. I hesitate to call it off-topic since the topic would be the X10. Think of it like a free-for-all with general decency rules, no flaming, no personal attacks but an otherwise open place where we can air grievances or just toss around ideas.
That way general can be more about news, events and so on while the speculation and what have you goes on in the Café. It would make keeping up with the forum a lot easier since it should be a place that you don't really "have" to read.
well i like both the ideas..
lemme consult with my fellow mods for futher actions..
Maybe you can stick a link to the Wiki X10 Page and edit this Wiki page to add links to useful posts in the forum ?

imo this forums needs some temp/permanent banning, plain and simple. I read threads here every day since I have the x10, and I have to agree with many people here, some users just don't understand patience, don't understand how to use the search options and then they have to cry out loud for something they want now but they cannot provide any help so they keep posting useless replies in every 'used to be' useful threads.
The 'Café' kind of forum is a nice idea too, to me it sounds a lot like the general discussion forum but still, the mods should do anything to keep the good discussions going.
Going back to the dark lurking around, WAITING for the good stuff without acting like a 12yo, and I'll give some money for the hard work, whatever i can give, until then keep up the good work guys
I started reading on XDA since 2 weeks when I bought my first droid phone (the X10 obviously ). This is my first post though because for every question I had i was able to find the answer in the forums.
The real PITA was when I started reading the rooting and custom rom dev threads where seriously 80% of the posters are either off topic, flaming or simply asking questions that already have been asked AND answered earlier.
As previous poster said I wouldn't mind that mods would apply temp bans to flamers and off topic poster or even perm bans when people continue to do so.
I did read in another x10 subforum that there was a X10 mod appointed (dunno if there are more than one), but unfortunately haven't seen much of that person specifically on those rooting and rom dev threads where they would have been most wanted.
It is nice to see that you are now taking the time to get something constructive going on. Regarding current topics it probably will be too much effort cleaning those up so it might be better to simply close those topics, start new ones and apply some stricter modding on those (including the temp/perm bans).
I sure would love to see the x10 devs coming back to these forums to discuss there progress on the X10 rooting for example, but they won't unless something is really done against these unnecesarry flaming/off topic/unnecesarry questions posts.
Regards,
Stephan
PS as soon as I have something in my paypal account again I will donate something towards this forum for the good work you guys are doing

+1 here also i feel that you are talking about me
guys.. what i see here is that you people are posting suggestions rather than problems.
regarding feelings abt hoss_n2, this is what i analysed.
Hoss_n2 seems to be clean at heart and intentions but the wording he uses are kinda direct and might make sumone feel he is demanding. but guys as long as intentions are not wrong no need to attack him..
more over by pointing out that hoss_n2 is doing this, this and bla bla you people too are flaming and remember these forum rules apply to you aswell..
so please keep your calm and help people rather than critisize them.
on the rooting forum i will be deleting all the posts not related to rooting..
cheers..

thanks allot you are the only one here that understands me right . may be i cannot say what i really mean with writing as english is not my main language , but they don't give me any chance . sorry for going out of topic but i wanted to illustrate my point . good luck cleaning
I'm not pointing at anyone in particular as I only read threads and rarely look at who posted. My point wasn't to accuse anyone. But warning to off topics and complainers should be sent, failing to change their behavior should lead to more action.
Yes these are more suggestions than issues we have, but I think most of the people know what are the issues. The main one being 'talking in a thread about anything'. Most of the useful threads have a self-explanatory title, reading the original post usually tells a user where he wants to go with the thread he created.
I know some might 'sound' harsh or rude but personally I don't really mind that as long as it does not become a flaming war/troll feeding discussion. But keeping a discussion on the right direction is probably the most important thing in such a huge forum. Then the search tool comes handy when the discussion is going one way.
Warning/temp/perm banning. Sending public message to people saying 'please stop' is not going to work. A temp ban with a nice message included stating what he did wrong should be effective in most cases. Failing to comply after 'x' warnings/temp ban, bye bye we do not need you (They can still read threads, they'll just stop posting what devs don't need).
I'm not pissed or angry at anyone, I'm just one of those people who thinks that moderation is important. The easier/cleaner it is for everyone, the faster we'll get the good news/progress. This site is one big community, let's make it look good/the best there is.
well.. right now m cleaning up threads and rest assured that all off topic posts, flames wars will be stopped from now on..
lets get ourselves together and make this forum productive..
cheers
Maybe issue warning on some fanatic on this forum, some people are extremely rude for no reason, acting like their keyboard and mouse give them God like power.
Realize lots of people have limited knowledge and are trying to get some information. When you see the reaction of some user…bashing on them saying search first idiot there a post about it .Maybe you should realize some of them just don’t know what they have to search. Why not just point them in the proper direction and help them , it would make this forum way more attractive.

you are right i see this usless replies not only here but on all forums ,why don't he just tell the answer ,new members don't think about search they are still new when i was juinor member i faced allot of these replies . if any body don't want to help just don't reply
Pointing the right direction if you can yes, not answering like an a**hole to a newcomer yes. But there is nothing wrong about telling them politely to search, we might know there is a thread on a subject, but pointing them to the right direction is also searching for them in some/most cases. All forums work pretty much the same, joining one means learning how to use it/navigate it.
Search is the biggest tool there is on the internet. This is how you find what you want, this is how you find answers. Internet is full of it. The faster you start, the more stuff you'll get out of it.
BTW: Answering like a a**hole to a newcomer is also worthy of warnings and ban. It's part of the issue too.
I'm all about common sense.
You can generally class users in 3 categories. The devs, the supporters, and the noobs. The devs are resourceful enough to not care, because they'll always find a way to get things done. The supporters have kinda a clue about what's going on, and are always trying to enforce rules to keep the noobs in order. The noobs almost always assume a hierarchy of power, try to suck up, seek attention, and post ridiculous amounts of crap to get out of trouble/sound smart/kiss ass.
So understanding this dynamics, devs really don't care about flaming and junk, they just want to get product out. Supporters need to learn to refrain, not feed the troll and stop thinking they are better than noobs. Noobs usually just chat amongst themselves if left alone, and are mostly harmless.
The only thing that need to happen here is a set of clear guidelines for noobs to read about when to post, where to post, and when not to post. Also, clean up the place from its state now so people don't get the idea that it's okay to post crap. Maybe a reminder (after submission of a post) for users with low post count to remind them useless junk are indeed useless and bin-worthy.
So I understand the need to security. Having worked in security for several year.
I have been a member of these forums for well over a year now. I have made two posts because all my questions have been answered, and rather than being redundant, I search the forums, I don't badger people and I spend my time trying to figure out the generalities for myself. I feel that helps me to learn more if I muddle through some of it myself. Granted, I have bricked 2 phones in the process, but I understood the risks before hand, and blame no one but myself.
All this being said. I have found a flaw in a process for this phone. I was going to post my experience with it, to help some of those with the same issue, and found that I am not allowed to post in development forums until I have 10 posts. Therefore my knowledge is failing to reach those that need it. For at the rate I am going, by the time I have 10 useful posts, it will be circa 2015, and the fix will no longer be needed.
As I opened with, I understand the need for security, however I was wondering about possibly a grandfather clause, or an exception to the rule? I post here simply because it seems to be one of the few places I can post, and hopefully someone will read this that can fix my issue. If not, at least possibly this will be one more post toward my post count.
For anyone interested... my issue was trying to get my phone from Black Spyder ROM to stock because I needed to return the phone. I followed the instructions listed here in hope that it would work. I found that in the FlashLNX.sh file some of the file names weren't named the same as the ones in the folder I had downloaded. I also wanted to help with other peoples issues that I had come across myself and figured out on my own. I wished to list all this one that thread, to assist those people. To walk them through how to edit the files. Most people here use windows, and I am doing this process on linux. Therefore I feel I could have provided insight into why it wasn't working for those with linux. As most of the thread seemed to address windows.
Anyway. I think I am getting off track. My post here is simply to show the admin that possibly I am worthy of a grandfather clause, or to up my post count with something I hope is considered useful.
Thanks for reading my rant.
I failed to mention that I did manage to fix my phone, and get it back to stock.
I did softbrick it once or twice, but I found my problem simply by being persistent, and not throwing it across the room.
And something that was not mentioned in my above linked post is that after you do the process described, you have to wipe user data.... That is what almost got me.
(Wow! As I tried to post this as an afterthought, I found that I also have to wait 5 minutes to post a followup!) I love XDA forums. It is the first and almost exclusive forums I go to for all android related issues/questions, but trying to participate is getting.... interesting....

I am fairly certain these are the kinds of posts they hope to weed out by making 10 posts mandatory . So they might see how you act towards others. I am not "taking medication". I merely expressed my concern that not everyone is a troll, bot, or out to cause strife. And hope that perhaps some people in the thread I linked might find this information and contact me for my fix. Even though this "fix" is no where near where it should be.

I think security discussions are generally useful.
That said, I have a feeling the 10 post minimum is enforced by the forum software... not sure a mod can override.
Your best bet may be to find some other interesting threads and post (useful comments to increment your post count.
The post count is there for a reason and it helps all concerned as if we did not have this the forum would be full of SPAM as bots are able to post on 0 and also low level posters are able to post anywhere to which increases the amount of posts being moved since in incorrect areas, increasing the workload to Mods to which is an unpaid job..............
As other have stated it's not that hard to get 10 posts since there is a general and Q&A area.
On that note thread closed.

I am still trying to work that out but I searched on the baseband & radio to shorten the list!
From these two I am using 1st one:
Code:
RUU_Flyer_HC_S_HTC_WWE_Wifi_3.55.1114.31_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.07_M_release_227869_signed.exe
RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_Wifi_2.27.1114.31_Radio_20.3504.30.089BU_3809.07.04.06_M_release_204727_signed.exe
but its not original one. I am thinking to try second one.
I kinda got a problem with this flyer as sometimes I get no sound and docking app auto-starts by itself which makes me believe that charging port is sending false info being docked.
Here is picture if you anyone can point me to stock-like rooted ROM it would be great (wifi only though)
Thanks

So, read it again, think a little bit and then you will find your answer...
Hello,
Here, I will try to bring a method to your notice which will maximize the chances of your question being answered and that too in very less time.
Introduction
Let me introduce you to Android Question and Answer, Help and Troubleshooting Section
This section serves the purpose of a hub to people seeking answers to their questions. Any miscellaneous query related to Android devices is to be posted here. Some good guys check around for questions and try their best to solve them. They try their best to make you understand in easiest way possible
(Their Thanks button can be pressed as a reward to them )
However, we try to answer each and every question with our knowledge but sometimes, some quesions remain unanswered. This isn't the fault for people here but some reasons can be held responsible. Here are some of that:
Nobody really knows the answer.
They aren't able to understand the question itself.
The question requires higher developer knowledge to be answered.
Question is too device specific which can't be answered generally.
There are many more reasons but these are the General Ones.
So, let's try to ward off these reasons and boost the chances of your question getting answered. :highfive::victory:
Tips to avoid these conditions
☻Generally, answer is right there, staring at our face but we don't do a little search. So, we may get our answer easily if we search a bit. So, let's start some searching before posting. :fingers-crossed:

☻Sometimes people can't understand what we are trying to convey. This may be due to insufficient information we are giving or due to us understanding that the information we gave is sufficient. If this problem gets solved, you may get your answer in one turn. This is explained in next section How to make a good question
How to make a good question?
One thing we all agree that few things only are general in Android, so wee can't give one answer to a similar question. Many times confusion arises and people hesitate to answer because they're not sure if they will be correct or not. Many times a question badly written remain unanswered. So, These are some tips on how to make a good question and increase chances of getting it answered:
Here's an example of a good question:

AIX ROM dev Aeronliru, a.k.a. AeronLee decided to stop sharing his work, which is his right. Couple of weeks ago, he also asked me to remove the V30 bootloader unlock warning disabler mod he had developed and sent to me to share in this XDA forum, which was also used in his ROM (which was always Telegram thread only).
TotallyAnxious did the same thing with the AnxiousV30 mod. I respect dev wishes.
It doesn't really matter why either decided to stop sharing their V30 work (different reasons), but that's why his work is not available.

God damn it i hope this isn't true. I saw he started banning people a month or 2 ago after people were accusing him of viruses. I have a t9n of really sensative info here including a password manager. Do you recommend that I should delete and get stock? It will take FOREVER to get everything back.

Is it normal for lg's screen recorder to always be on in the back ground? Should i be worried about this dev stealing my info? Ive been following the AiX rom for almost a year now, he always seemed liked he had some serious issues that i feel bad about, but i dont know if i can trust him anymore. I really dont want to delete it as there is a ton of really info stuff on this rom and i already have a **** ton of my own stuff installed. However, if i need to delete it for yhe sake of protecting my accounts and sensative material i will reluctantly have to do it

With TotallyAnxious, it was because users became too demanding of wanting features to be added or removed. XDA Mods got involved several times as users became verbally abusive; the XDA thread was cleaned several times and people were sanctioned.
It was her personal "all in one" (omnibus) mod for her phone she was sharing -- take it or leave it. Dual speaker mode, loudness, North American GPS/Wi-Fi improvements, battery optimizing script, other stuff) But people would try to add or remove their own features (so it became THEIR mod?), then pollute her thread complaining their altered version of her mod no longer worked. "I only want this and this, but not that. So, I extracted your zip and really screwed it up and somehow it's your fault. "Fix it" so it only does what I want or tell me how to do what I want!"
That was what people couldn't understand. She didn't want any suggestions or discussions whatsoever about how it worked on other people's phones. As long as it worked on HER phone, that was all that really mattered. She was simply sharing her work IF other people wanted to use it. If it didn't work on their phones, then too bad. She said she could only guarantee it work VS996 and US998 (but really it worked for all U.S. variants). If it worked on any other V30 variants (H930*), great. If it didn't, she didn't care. One H930DS user really made her life miserable, constantly complaining when new versions didn't work on HIS phone. Then go back and use the older version that did (luckily) work and shut up. And then people of other models (G8, V40) started asking she make it for their phones! Arghhh...
We even tried to figure out a way to LOCK the Anxious V30 thread so no one could make comments or ask questions, and she could just simply "drop" any new versions and then instantly re-lock the thread. All we needed was a "release" thread, not a development discussion thread. But that was too complicated, so she went to Telegram where she had more control. But some XDA people followed her there and still behaved the same way. Finally she changed phones and asked me to delete all mirrors I had posted.

For AIX dev, he told me he was banned in the general V30 Telegram thread (no I don't know why), so decided to stop sharing his work publicly (which was a separate Telegram thread). I don't have time to follow the V30 Telegram thread like I did before. But people can be "banned" for many reasons -- arguing too much, disobeying thread rules, etc.

(dual speaker mode, loudness, GPS/Wi-Fi improvements, battery optimizing script, etc.) But people would try to add or remove their own features (so it became THEIR mod?), then pollute her thread complaining their altered version of her mod no longer worked. "I only want this and this, but not that. So, I extracted your zip and really screwed it up and somehow it's your fault. Please fix it."
That was what people couldn't understand. She didn't want any suggestions or discussions whatsoever about how it worked on other people's phones. As long as it worked on HER phone, that was all that mattered. She was simply sharing it if other people wanted to use it. If it didn't work on their phones, too bad. She made it clear it probably only worked for VS996 and US998. If it worked on other V30 variants, great. If it didn't, she didn't care. I remember TA acting like a pretentious gods gift to coding. She was a real pain. Couldn't get a straight answer asking questions about the mod, forget feature requests. Not a pleasant experience and honestly glad shes left. She gave plenty of harassing replies to questions, completely demeaning people for daring to post in her thread. I forgot that mod ever existed and moved on.
For AIX, I'm not a tg pro, but you have to do something to get banned, right? It's like the Wild West, I don't even know how you'd get kicked from it. Not like Discord where you can get permabanned for asking for the news bot...

I'm still using Anxious V30 mod on my phone. But yes, it was "release only." Take it or leave it.
For Telegram it depends on the specific thread mods' rules. In some threads, yes you can be warned or even banned for asking for the FAQ (forget the exact word but it's basically that) if it's already pinned and you agreed you read it before being allowed to access the thread. Some people just click OK and don't read, then the first thing they do when they get access it summon the FAQ. Because calling the FAQ -- BOOM -- spams the entire thread for pages. In the V30 thread for a long time it was an automatic warning if you did that, but in other threads automatic ban. Now I believe the V30 thread mods have it set to be sent to you via PM instead of automatically being posted publicly in the thread when someone requests it. The V30 general thread rules are more lax than others -- but no racist comments, no excessive arguing, minimum off topic discussions, no porn, no commercial spamming, stuff like that. Breaking those rules earn ban from mods.
The AIX dev had his own Telegram thread, which was linked to the "general" V30 thread. He allowed users access, which included downloads, installation instructions, and discussion. He could ban people as he wished as he was the sole mod of his own ROM thread. His ROM would also be discussed some in the general thread.

He sounds as tolerant as TA was! I think I'll stick to XDA.
Hi there.
I ended AiX development in public due a LOT of trolls, haters, which arguing with me in main LG v30 TG channel.
I tried to convey to people that AOSP roms has many bugs - camera video and audio issues, volte/vowifi absent, fingerprint scanner issues, wifi/Lte/SIM some issues. These all about ALL AOSP roms - cuz they builded on the same buggy sources.
I'm not telling that my rom is the cure for all probs, but stock-based roms have LESS bugs comparing to AOSP's.
When I'm started to argue with people humiliating my work and my firmware, I asked the Zoro admin where he was when they humiliate me and my ROM, but he always appeared when I repaid people with their coin - the admin simply banned me without explaining the reason. I cannot call it anything other than arbitrariness.
As almost 90% AiX users comes from main LG v30 TG group into mine channel, I rebuilt release channel and then delete DIscuss group, cuz I didn't see now reason to continue this ROM.
You must understand me - AiX is not so popular like AOSP's. Ppl want newer ROMs even if they are buggy like an old tree.
As for AiX, last build was 01/06/2021 and it has only bug with HDMI audio (but it's not confirmed), but now it doesn't matter anymore.
As for all talks about viruses and other "crap" in AiX - it's not true.
I've tried to clean all apps from adware scum/code, make services and apps lighter and faster, and AiX existed more than year, and AiS existed almost 1.5 years - do you think ppl wouldn't notice any information leaks or something? why do you accuse me of introducing something that steals your information, but do not blame the developers of the AOSP firmware ??? Do I stand out because I am a Russian-speaking person living in Korea, and this is suspicious? Do not discuss or condemn a developer without FACTS and evidence, otherwise it will be regarded as insult to honor and dignity, as well as slander!

Just because once I have been banned here due trolls and haters in my AiS thread at XDA. Look in the thread list for it and you will see all by yourself.

"Trolls and haters" don't get you banned from XDA, repeatedly breaking the rules does.

Broken English aside, that's not a reason for a ban. A mod will never ban you for replying to people on XDA. It honestly sounds like a user called you out on something inappropriate/illegal/against-xda-rules and you were banned for that. You choose to call them trolls for some reason.

You're not have been there, so you cannot knew it!
Do not make excuses for moral monsters who hate someone just because he is a Russian-speaking person and is trying to create something worthwhile on the basis of the drain, and not AOSP with crutches! I understand that you are on their side. Your right. But leave me alone. I closed public access to the firmware and forbid it to be published anywhere, having all the rights to do so. You can use anything, I will use my product myself, thanks to everyone who used it for the open beta test (so to speak). People are ungrateful creatures. You do something for them, waste resources, time, nerves, and in response only claims and demands. I'm tired of this, besides, I am now recovering from the operation, in addition, my health has been undermined by COVID. Cook yourself in your own juice. Bye.
Nice chat!
