Hi,
I'm not sure if anyone else is facing this problem. But every time my phone reboots, the ringtone resets to default. I tried placing the ringtone files in /system/media and then set it as ringtone. Still wont work. Can someone help me out?
Thanks.

so recently, since I tried the new G-Mail update (which I subsequently uninstalled), sometimes, my custom ringtones from Ringdroid and Zedge go from their original form to a weird ringing sound. This happened after the initial update to the new Gmail, and randomly happened 20 mins ago (long after uninstalling the gmail update).
Why does it do this?
please answer me. Has anyone else experienced this?

The file may play too long. When you boot up your phone do you get the same ringing sound? It plays your notification sound once it has bootup. If so, there is NO workaround you just have to change the sound to a shorter one. This fixed it for me

when I boot up the phone, I hear the tone its supposed to be. I have one Ringdroid tone I've made and had for a while, and last week downloaded 2 Zedge notification tones. The phone is rooted, but no mods. They've all worked before, but I'm wondering why yesterday the 3 tones all randomly turned to rings, at A (440 Hz) Could it be something on auto-end that shouldn't auto end (the way having gallery on there stopped my music?) or is it a bug?
1) Can't set the default ringtone. I can go into settings and select a ringtone but for some reason the defauls stays on silent. Have to set ringtone for each contact. If a non contact number calls, no ringtone just vibrate. FYI the power control widget only has two options, speaker with vibe lines and phone with vibe lines. nothing else.
2)With Update 4.0.4c moving from one remembered wifi connection to another I got an error in the menu. Can't turn wifi on at all. Restoring to original WB rom if this is a consistant problem.
Can someone give me some advice here?
Forever a noob
Re-installed rom for a 5th time. Installed doom kernal. Took care of the first problem. Have not updated to 4.0.4 c yet. Not sure if I want to now
So, I've noticed that my Evo3D won't keep the ringtone settings after a reboot. I downloaded from HTC the "Tint" sound pack and it set everything up. Reboot, all ringtone settings lost. I reapplied, same thing happened. I even tried setting them via settings to those, and still it lost the settings next reboot. What could be causing this? Even ringtone settings for contacts are sometimes getting messed up. Could my SD card be bad?
Well, I've gotta reply to my own thread as I figured out the issue. This will also hopefully help anyone with the same issue. I found out that ESET Mobile Security is the problem causer at hand here. I've contacted them to make them aware of the problem. I tried another SD card with the same issue, then tried removing ESET since it scans at startup, etc and I figured may be causing the problem...I was right.
I haven't had this issue before, but now my ringtone keeps resetting to the default Sense ringtone. If I change it, it will stay until I reboot or a certain amount of time passes and then it goes back. What's strange is that my sound I'm choosing for alarm, which is different than the default, does stick.
Any ideas?

Is your preferred ringtone on your external SD card? Mounting it to USB can make it temporarily unavailable and it will revert to default even after you unmount.
If so, try placing it on the internal sd folder

I actually just discovered what's causing this. I use a program called Sound Profile that has a bug that is locking the ringtone. Thus, anytime I opened the program or used one of its widgets, it would revert to the ringtone that was selected when the app was installed. I was able to change it by uninstalling the app. I've emailed the developer to let them know about this.
Thanks for the response, however. This was driving me nuts.
I've had my DNA since late November and I used to keep it on vibrate all of the time. Now that I keep it on Normal sound, I've noticed that the phone doesn't ring when I get a call. If I'm lucky, I'll catch it lighting up and be able to answer it. Is anyone else having this problem? Are there any ways to fix it?
I do have a song that I've downloaded as my ringtone. I also have the Call Control app. I was wondering if either of these could be the problem?
Any suggestions?
ditto
