[Q] Won't recognize SIM - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I bought a Samsung Galaxy SII GT-I9100 Unlocked/International Version from amazon and got a new SIM card for it. I tried the SIM in another phone and it works perfectly, however, this phone does not seem to recognize it and if I try to make a call I get the message "mobile network not available.
I thought the phone might be locked, but I ran a check and it seems to be fully unlocked. This is what I get:
Network Lock: [OFF]
Network Subset Lock: [OFF]
SP Lock: [OFF]
CP Lock: [OFF]
If I go to phone settings, phone number and network show up as unknown, network type: GPRS, network state: disconnected, service state: out of service, no roaming.
My IMEI seems to be fine, I have a 15 digit number that does not appear to be blacklisted (did an online check). The phone is brand new, in its original box and sealed. I got it 2 days ago so I have not done anything to it, software update is not possible because of failed connection. Model number is GT-I9100, Android version is 2.3.5, Build Number GINGERBREAD.XXKI3.
I tried to find a solution online but all I get is that it might be a hardware problem. I was wondering if there is anything I could do to make the phone work (or something I might be doing wrong), or if I should just go ahead and return it and get a new one. Thanks in advance!

[Q] is a network unlock code the same as a sim unlock code?HELP

Hi Guys
First i want to apologize if there is a already a thread covering this but i couldnt find it.
Basically i have a galaxy s2 that i bought used and only a vodafone sim seems to work so i went to unlock it got the codes(chainfire app) which work i can lock and unlock to any network but i still cant use my o2 sim even though
Network lock [off]
Network subset lock [off]
Sp lock [off]
Cp lock [off]
so the phone is still sim locked.
any one have any ideas ?
when i put my o2 sim in and check status it says
Service state ut of service
Mobile network state isconnected
Imei number seems ok
current:
gt-I9100
android 4.0.3
PDA I9100BULPC
Phone I9100BULP6
CSC I9100VDILP6
I should note ive tried some official firmware(O2,Voda) and custom ROMs(Darky,Omega)
its driving me MAD
please help
Network unlock means unlocked to a network and now usable on any network .
Sim lock may mean the same or the fact that the Sim is password protected.
I should note ive tried some official firmware(O2,Voda) and custom ROMs(Darky,Omega)
Why its not going to fix your problem .
Double check one correct IMEI and two enter the O2 network settings manually if it is a non O2 phone it may have a CSC not covering O2 .

No UNFREEZE code?

Hey guys,
My phone was blocked with Orange France. Newly I got my unlock code from Orange by email. I tried it, but I always get "network unlock code unsuccessful" message. Before trying the original unlock code, I had tried 2-3 times another codes. As I understood from some blogs my phone is frozen even it does not show like this.
NOTE: if you get "network lock unsuccessful" it means that the i9100 is actually Phone Frozen (even though it doesnt display it, as i9100 dont display Phone Freeze like other samsung phones do)

I rebooted it, but it did not work still. I searched website of Orange but there is nothing related to this problem. Also they do not supply this kind of codes, instead of this they asked me to go to customer service, but here does not exist Orange service.
When I check with *#7465625#
1. Network lock [ON]
2. Subset lock [OFF]
3. SP lock [OFF]
4. CP lock [OFF]
I requested 3 times unlock code from Orange by thinking that is it really wrong code. But no. Every time I got same unlock code from Orange. And here I can not find any shop for this problems, also after this problem I am not sure to make payment online on some websites which are working only for these issues. When I try this solution:
1. Turn off the Wi-Fi on your phone and then turn device ON without SIM card.
Once it's on go to phone dial screen and DIAL: *7465625*638*# it will bring you to the NETWORK LOCK screen.
- in MCC/MNC field enter code for the service provider your phone is originally from (eg 31026 for T-Mobile USA)
- in CONTROL KEY field enter the UNLOCK code
- hit OK
- you should get a message: LOCK SUCCESSFUL
Power phone down, insert SIM card you want your phone to work with and power on.
Click to collapse
Yes, I get same message as LOCK SUCCESSFUL, but still unlock code request unsuccessful. I think I need unfreeze code.
Model number: GT-I9100P
Build number: IML74K.BVLP8
Android version: 4.0.3
Kernel: 3.0.15 - I9100PBVLP8-CL364024 [email protected]#3
Unlock code: 05175247
I rooted my phone and downloaded [root] Galaxy S2 SIM Unlock apk. But it could not find also UNFREEZE CODE. I rebooted and tried so many times, it still can not find it.
IS THERE ANOTHER WAY TO FIND UNFREEZE CODE ?
If you help me at this issue, I will be pleased.Thank you in advance!

No Sim Card/emergency calls only help?

Hi, i have some problems with No Sim Card detected on Samsung Galaxy S III I9300 from T-Mobile (Austrian)
Firstly i unlocked the phone at the shop and was really unlocked on all sim cards but than i did a factory reset and the phone no longer detects sim card from other carriers, it only detects sim card from T-Mobile, It dosen't even shows the menu when you turn on the phone for network unlock.
I tryed using those secret codes to show the network unlock menu but they didn't work since the phone was updated to 4.3 firmware.
So i followed this guide on androible downgrade-galaxy-s3-i9300-android-4-3-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean-firmware
To downgrade to 4.1.2 firmware along with provided modem file. The secret codes now do show menu's but when i click on UMTS RF NV it says it's not supported.
Also instead of downgrading to T-Mobile 4.1.2 Firmware i downgraded it to Orange 4.1.2 Firmware hope that dosen't effects it in anyways? Phone otherwise works just fine IMEI Number shows OK.
I tryed 2 different SIM cards from orange none of them worked, it only detects SIM from T-Mobile.
To recap it all agean: I wish to unlock this phone so i can use different SIM card's but the phone is on NO Sim card, emergency calls only but when i insert T-Mobile Sim it works, Also there is no Network Unlock Menu shown durning turn on or reset since i already Unlocked the phone once with a code. Does anyone has any clue how to fix this or unlock it without rooting the phone.

[Q] Unlock Metro PCS SIM lock for Saumsung Galaxy Mega SGH-M819N

Hello all,
It has been awhile since I've been on here. I apologize if I am posting in the wrong section (this forum has changed so much over the years).
Anyways, I am currently a T-Mo customer and just got a Metro PCS Samsung Galaxy SGH-M819N because I thought I could simply flash a rom that would allow me to use T-Mobile sim card. However, it turns out that it may not be that simple.
Can someone advise whether or not I am able to unlock the sim (without paying it through sites such cellunlocker.net) via flash? If so, would you be kind to direct me to the site or page which gives directions?
Thanks,
eastbay80
oK, i paid
4update:
I am ended buying an unlock code via eBay for $14.99. I enter the code and the phone no longer asks for SIM unlock code BUT now it does not register with any carriers.
i inserted my t-mo sim card into the phone, go to settings, and tried to automatically and manually connect to the tmobile network but keep getting the "unable to connect at this time. try again later" message.
i contacted tmobile via chat and provided imei number and sim card number but was still unable to connect.
i flash backed to stock firmware 4.4.4 and still no luck.
i checked my "device info" and under "phone status" it shows my phone number assigned to the sim card but not connecting to service provider.
Any ideas anyone? Please help.

Make sure the apn is correct.
Go to more networks and then mobile network.

GT-I9300 Unusual Version of "Not Registered To Network"

PLEASE HELP!!!!
I have read as many posts/forums that I can find on XDA (plus or minus a few I may have missed) and I have not found something matching my situation. While there are many revolving a missing, corrupted or invalid IMEI, this does not seem to be my case, at least according to my phone.
I am new to rooting, posting on XDA, and unlocking a phone
The beginning:
I had a locked, unrooted GT-I9300. Out of nowhere, I start getting "not registered on network." I had already decided to go with a different carrier/network and purchase a different phone. (The phone was on a contract that I did not continue after it expired. ) Circumstances necessitated that I keep this phone and just use a different carrier. I figured I would have to fix the "not registered on network", unlock the sim, and root the phone (not necessarily in that order.) I looked up several different articles , both through XDA and Google, that talk about the "not registered on network."
What I have done:
None of the non-root methods worked for my phone. According to the phone, I still have my original IMEI and S#. At this point I decided to root my phone. I have TWRP recovery and am currently running on the original stock ROM as I didn't want to risk corrupting (maybe further corrupting) my IMEI, etc. I will list full phone status below. After rooting, I tried to use GalaxSim unlock app (an older version than what is at the Play Store, due to it not being available in my country due to laws.) It states that my IMEI, S#, etc are: undefined. It also says it is unable to read my nv data.
I am afraid to try any of the nv data fixes with out double checking first, as according to my phone my IMEI and S# are correct.
Full Phone Stats:
Model #: GT-I9300
Android Version: 4.3
Baseband Version: I9300UBUGMK1
Kernel Version: 3.0.31-2320216

Build Number: JSS15J.I9300UBUGML1_CellOnell_v2.0
Network: Unknown (according to phone information, branded CellOne phone, have both CellOne sim and Straightalk sim)
Signal Strength: -103dBm 6 asu (as I type this)
Mobile Network Type: GPRS
Service State: Out of Service
Roaming: Not on Roaming
Mobile Network State: Disconnected
Phone Number: Changes upon which SIM I put in the phone. Original CellOne SIM has no number connected to it. Straightalk
pops up the right number for the SIM card.
IMEI State: Original IMEI that came with the phone (found in the phone, on the information box, and back)
IMEISV: 01
IP address, WiFi Mac Address, Bluetooth address: Will supply if needed
S# State: Original S# that is for the phone (found in the phone, on the information box, and back)
Device Status: Custom
As stated above, my phone was giving me the network connection error BEFORE I messed with rooting, etc.
I have also used several IMEI checking websites, and my imei number seems to be valid and not blacklisted.
