[Q] [DX & TV] MHI (HDMI) Cable for HTC Desire X - HTC Desire X

Hello everyone,
I have a rooted HTC Desire X, my rom is mySENSEdx+ RC2.0. I was wondering if the an MHL cable of Samsung S3 would work for me to link my phone to an LCD TV. I would like to know that because I don't want to take any risk buying that expensive cable.
Endless thanks in advance.

probably not we have OTG support YES but our dual core CPU is not even capable of running a 720p video so I have my doubts about the MHL cable

First of all, thank you so much for your reply.
My brother has an LG Optimus 3D, it has a lower capacity than HTC DX's (Same CPU; RAM 250). He does link his phone to the LCD. Yet, I don't probably know more than you. I did not want to take any risk, the cable is a bit expensive for me; I cannot afford to buy it. ^^' ..but anyway, thank you so much. If I ever make sure I will inform you.

I have bought a MHL adapter from Deal Extreme but it doesnt work.
So I asked HTC if the dx supported mhl and they said it does but only if you
buy their mhl adapter.

I see.. =l
By the way, another question came to my mind: Is there a difference between an adabter and a simple cable? One that I can mention is that adapters carry the name of the company like Samsung, whereas cables don't.

The Desire X doesnt have HDMI out so this is the only solution.

[Q] Micro-USB to HDMI?

This is a question, that is very important for me.
...
You see, this SGSII phone thing'y is HOT as HELL. It is everything I want in a phone... BUT STOP...
...
NO HDMI out?
...
The original SGS has one and I really don't understand why they took that away from the SGSII.
...
I heard that there is a way to get HDMI mirroring with a software and a micro-USB to HDMI cable! Is that purely a software question or must there be a hardware thing to?
...
Please... respond to this, this is very important.
An MHL hardware connection is needed (look up MHL in wikipedia), fortunately in the official Samsung specs from the press release it says that it has MHL. A video from MWC from someone representing the MHL consortium also says the SGS2 will be the first device supporting MHL.
I'll feel better once I see someone demo it, but Samsung have officially announced MHL capability for the SGS2.

You think Mobile High-definition Link??
Yes... I want to see a demo to. It would be nice to have this mirroring capability.
Something does confuse me about MHL, if you have a TV which isn't MHL compatible and you don't want or don't have the adapter, can you use a microUSB-to-HDMI cable and just not have it charge at the same time?
doh...

First of all... DO YOU REALLY NEED a HDTV that supports MHL??? No Games on the big screen? DAMN!!!

My friend you can use with any HDTV but you dont have charge of your battery device except if you buy an adapter MHL to charge and transmit signal on the same time. But how last your battery can provide of energy?
In my Xperience In my IPad I see 3 Movies via Wireless Apple TV and my battery show 30 % remain. In the case of SGSII at least You have enough power to see a movie with Screen turned Off (SGSII)
!?
Are there any news about a mirroring capability on the SGS II?
...
I've been searching the net for some confirmation, that there is going to be a possibility playing games on the SGS II connected to a flat screen TV, but couldn't find anything to confirm that!
...
Are there any news???
surely if this was possible, it would have been all over the exhibitions and videos of it would exist?

Or the SW used for demo phones didn't have the mirroring properly implemented yet and the option was not included in menus.
EDIT:
I have not seen any demos where SGS2 is connected to a TV via MHL/HDMI.
Is there any previews or videos where they use that ?
No videos yet, the question of whether mirroring is on offer remans in the air.
!
Funny... cuz... The first SGS had mirroring, if this one has it not, than it is a kind a regress!
...
Sorry 4 my English.
Yep, I'd be very disappointed if this can't do mirroring, I love using it with my SGSI and would find it hard to part with (use my SGSI on the tele with BT keyboard and mouse, excellent experience, only problem is only SD-out).

It is a MHL cable and AFAIK, no one sells them yet..expect them to be out soon..other option is if you have a dlna compatible tv or box, u can use that wirelessly to stream videos/pictures but dlna AFAIK doesnt mirror the screen like mhl would.

No, its the MHL cable/adapter the earlier poster mentioned.
Both MHL and Micro-USB-to-HDMI will work but the MHL cable has the added benefit of it being able to charge the phone at the same time.
How will mini USB work when the SGSII has a micro USB port, and no mini USB port? The only possible port to connect HDMI to is the micro USB port, and the only possible technology to output HDMI from that port is MHL.
when should we see these cables?
Clove are saying in June, Expansys are saying end of May (but Expansys and release date reliability hardly go hand in hand). I'd go with the Clove date for now.
There is a chance they'll be available for purchase before then from the US, since the Infuse 4G comes with adapter in its retail box (Phonedog have an unboxing up one youTube).
Does this phone do HDMI mirroring like the Optimus G2X?
Nobody knows, since there are no MHL accessories available.

From the context of the earlier posts it seems like he really does mean mini USB. Uninformed people really shouldn't be answering questions in here.

[Q] MHL-to-HDMI generic adapters?

I bought a generic MHL-to-HDMI adapter off ebay ($5) and can't get it to work at all; there's no signal, no hdmi notification, etc. Have tried multiple ways of plugging in, rebooting, powering, also tried it on a Samsung Galaxy II with no luck.
I confirmed with HTC that the Desire X does in fact have MHL (their site doesn't list it, though others do), here's the main part of their reply:
This is to confirm that the MHL feature is available on your phone. You just need to make sure that you are using a compatible MHL adaptor. We would like to know if the MHL-HDMI adaptor that you are currently using is a third party accessory. If yes, there is a possibility that this is a compatibility issue.

So the question is, does anyone know if the Desire X is using a "non standard" MHL, or has anyone gotten generic MHL adapters to work? On the other hand, I have found MHL adapters that say they work for particular HTC devices, but on enquiry about compatibility the sellers just reiterated their list of devices; are there different MHL standards used in the HTC stable?
I would like to connect my phone to HDMI TVs/monitors, but my desire (pardon the pun) isn't strong enough to justify spending $50 on a HTC-branded adapter.
I am currently looking for the same adapter to use on my Note 2. In my research I came across some mention of the Note 2 using using a slightly different plug (more pins I think) compared to the same connector on the first Galaxy Note. So just a thought that you may be experiencing that kind of issue... Although two connectors can both be MHL to HDMI, they may still have different specs.

Did you ever get to the bottom of the problem, RoGuE_StreaK?
I recently bought a HTC Desire X and I'm still not sure if the HDMI OUT feature will work (since they don't list it). Can you confirm that you did, indeed manage to play movies on the a external screen?
Cheers,
Juro

Nope, never found a solution, info is non-existent. I find it incredibly poor that HTC don't give any info or support for the two USB-port (physical) future trends that this phone is supposed to be capable of, both MHL and USB-OTG.
Kinda waiting to see if it ever gets JB, to see if support will be included then. I'm not going to hack this thing with some unknown 14yr-old's leet rom in the hope that I can plug in devices it is supposed to support in stock form.
MHL seems to be another no-standard standard that means SFA. Even sellers that list their MHL adapter as supporting certain HTC devices won't say that it supports the Desire X.

You need what's called MHL Adapter, it converts the USB to HDMI, I found these on eBay, and many do ship to Brazil-
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=MHL+adapter&_nkwusc=MHL+Adaptr&_rdc=1
This looks like a good deal, and free worldwide shipping to Brazil from Hong Kong!

As far as I am aware, Windows Phone does not support MHL.

Thank you again, you all.
So, there insn`t any reason to buy a MHL adapter, i guess.
Sad, i wish i could use my L920 and some HDMI adapter.
Does the 920 even have HDMI output? I thought they so called HDMI was on it's screen at it's resolution? Seeing as how it has no HDMI port like most devices that HDMI output.

Most devices that support HDMI out nowadays do it through an MHL-Adapter that you plug into the USB port. The reason is that they safe on space for an additional port.
WP8 does NOT support MHL/HDMI-out so far so no: don't buy an adapter, it won't work.
Thank you all, i wont buy (sadly).

If you have a network at home and an Xbox 360 on it, then you could play the phones content on the 360 connected to your TV.

[Q] USB OTG + MHL -> HDMI? Possible?

I'm on the fence between the HTC One and the Samsung GS4.
One feature I would like is the ability to output HDMI while using a USB port on the phone. The SGS4 has a media dock which charges, outputs HDMI and has 3 usb ports. Is there something similar to his available for the HTC One or a combo of cables/adapters that would effectively do the same thing? It looks like it can do either but I can't find any information confirming that it can do both simultaneously.
I have an Amaze 4G that I really like so I'm leaning towards the One right now and think I'll buy it if it can function like this.
