When it gets water damaged you should remove the battery immediately and you should've waited for it to dry for at least 48 hrs. You shouldn't turn the phone on immediately. Now about the pictures I assume it's in the sd card? Most of the sd card today are water-resistant ones so you should be able to recover them by plugging the sd card through an micro sd adapter then to your computer.
As for the phone if you're on warranty you can try bringing it to a samsung service center for repair. If not you now have a paperweight device or just pay for the repair.

Then i'm afraid the internals have been damaged. Salt water may have corroded the parts inside.
I don't know how you can retrieve the photos inside the internal sd card maybe other users here know how so if you can wait others might respond but in the meantime i suggest that you bring it to samsung for repair and ask if they can retrieve it.

Can you see it on the windows explorer though? It should appear there as well. If you can't then it might be pattern/pin/password protected and since you can't make the screen to work then sadly you won't be able to retrieve them. Just send it to Samsung.

You said on the OP that you need USB Debugging to be turned on meaning it's off this whole time but now you're saying it's on?
I've no idea of what software/program you can use. And I repeat just send it to Samsung for repair they have the proper tools and they might help you retrieve your photos.

lol okay sorry I misunderstood. But like i said earlier the internals might have been damaged that includes the micro-usb port that's why it can't be detected by windows. Sure it can detect the current for it to be charged but the component inside the phone for it to be detected by windows might have been damaged. Really don't know anymore sorry.

There are multiple identical same question posts that may help.

[Q] i have a big problem

my phone is restarting all the time .when i put Sim card in phone and i turn it on.it restart again.and when i take Sim card out and turn it on again it went off.i dont know what should i do.help me.
i have remove memory card(take out) again this problem.reset factory again this problem.help me
If even after Hard Reset your device keep turning off an on; it seems to bee a hardware problem sir.
but in some times it stay on after some restarting.is there any other way?
with restart problems always check the battery pins carefully.
what do you mean check pin?please describe it for me.i think pins are correct.
have you tryed reflash rom??
maybe you've deleted some sistem file!
pins should look like THIS
but they bend easily, especially if you lift the battery out perpendicular to the side, because they catch on the slightly raised plastic edge that surrounds the connector plates on the battery.

If it is still under warranty, send it to your nearest HTC service center.

Battery Won't Charge...HALP

My S2 absolutely won't charge anymore Black screen, no charging icon, no lights, no sign of life, nada... Barely had the phone since January. Not sure if it's the port on the phone or the battery. I wish I had a multimeter but I don't. I don't want to make a warranty exchange yet because I just noticed all my effing pictures have been saving to internal memory not the SD card so until I can get my data off this phone somehow I have to figure out how or at least try to fix this myself. PC doesn't recognize the phone of course. 3 different chargers...makes no difference. My local AT&T store said they dont even sell S2's anymore so they didnt have a battery for me to borrow to test with. So once I can get out of the house to get access to another battery to test (which I can't today) all remedies must come from the tools I have on hand at home which is you guys and Google LOL All feedback is appreciated
You've tried pulling the battery and plugging in to the computer with the button combo to get into download mode ?

Yeah, no dice...I'm leaning towards the problem being the port. The phone is unresponsive battery in or out, PC connect or wall charger...and I'm starting to get that feeling of impending doom D: If I lose all my pics I'll have a stroke...Coulda sworn they were saving to the SD card...
Do you know anyone with the same phone? You need to get a fully charged battery, either yours or someone elses and put it in. If the phone boots, then it is probably the port. Worst case, you'll have to buy a battery.
In that case, you can get the pics off via wifi. Dropbox is one option for that. If you need to flash back to stock, that can be done without a usb port also. Any questions along the way, just ask.
Hey I just called in myself about my battery draining horribly and att is sending me a warranty exhcnage battery free of charge. Try it. Just have to wait up to 5 days. Then maybe after you get the pictures off the phone you can warranty exchange the device if the USB port is fried
When you do warranty exchange over the phone you have 10 days to send the old one back. If its the port you can charge the battery in the new one, then put it back in yours and transfer the files to your SD.

OK, well the battery is fine, it's the port. Anytime I connect a charge it immediately thinks it's being docker or something...won't charge or transfer data.
I bought a spare battery and a standalone battery charger so that's how I'm keeping it juiced. Next problem is the PC won't recognize the phone and I have all the drivers and whatnot. Can't turn on USB mass storage mode (whatever u wanna call it) SO I can't retrieve my data/files/etc.. or unroot the phone...unless someone has some suggestions. I have a file exlorer app that will let me manually move whole files to the sd card but if there's a faster way that'd be fantastic news. I gotta get this phone exchanged ASAP :crying:

Yes brand name, almost $20.00 but it charges now. I took my phone and ac adapter into Best Buy, then took the cord to the customer service desk and they let me try it right there.
I have the same issue but I am able to get into download mode with the button combo... it just seems like the battery wont charge...
Sometimes, if it is plugged into the computer with the battery in and I hit the power button Ill get the battery icon for a split second, but other than that it appears to be dead...
any ideas?

[Q] S2 death after restart: access internal memory?

Yesterday, I restarted my S2, and that's the last time I've seen it turned on. It's simply death. It never restarted. It shut down forever. I'm wondering what's happened, it was working well before, but haven't find any answer...
Now, I probably already know the answer of the question I'm writing, but maybe I'm wrong... So, here is the question: is there a way to access the internal memory of a death Galaxy S2? I've tried to connect it to my PC, pressing the turn-on button and checking if something happens, but the device is obviously not recognized by the OS of my computer.
Any idea?
Thanks.

You could buy/make a USB jig to see if it brings life to your phone. Did you change anything before restarting? How long ago did you restart/shutdown the phone?
Will look at how-to/where-to-buy the USB jig...
No, I haven't changed anything before restarting.
And I installed the CM10.1 nightly on 8/3, so the phone was running for few days. The problem happened on 10/3 evening.

I think I'll carry the phone to customer support... if it costs too much, I'm going to change the phone.
However, I'd still like to recover data in phone memory...
Get an assesment.
I honestly think that your battery is the issue.
But that's just me.

The phone doesn't start with both my Samsung batteries, the original one and the original extended (2000mAh) one. So, I don't think it's the battery. Moreover, I left the phone under charge for an entire night, and I'm quite sure it was charging (touching the battery, it was warm), so even if it wasn't totally empty when I restarted the phone (around 13%), it's now fully charged. And the 2000mAh one was already fully charged.
Does it get warm near the rear camera?

If I remember correctly, yes, but not so much.
And the battery too (while charging).

Devices hardly just drop dead.
Take it to the service center and see what the have to say.
Have you found the answer yet?
I have the exact same problem! I cant start my device at all, tried everything (and yes, new battery and such) but i cant get any life in it.
I really really need the stuff on the internal memory. But im not comfortable about sending it to service (i dont trust them to respect my privacy). So all i need is to get some life in it so i can mount it on my laptop and just copy the whole internal memory.
Im in such need of help i dont know what to do. I can pay some money to get a solution!
Thanks!!

Bootloop; with no TWRP and not able to access volumedown+power menu

After my phone got a bit wet, it got into a boot loop where it reboots every 4,4 seconds and can only do that when charger cable connected. It does it by it self once the cable is connected, no button are pressed. It is tottally dead when no cable is connected, nothing get shown when buttons are pressed. I was able to access the volumedown+power button menu the first few hours, but not anymore, perhaps because it reboots too fast now.
I man able to go into fast boot mode, which gives me about 12 seconds on the fastboot screen before rebooting again to the normal 4,4 second loop.
I don't have TWRP installed, and the phone is original. I don't care much about it, but would REALLY like to recover the pictures I have taken with it.
I'm willing to destroy the phone, if I can recover the pictures from its internal memory.
Is there anything that can be done? Does it help to send it to Oneplus?
I hope someone can help me.. /N

Yes, drying in rice, but perhaps a bit late. Still the same issue.
So If I take it apart, how will I be able to retrieve the internal memory? It is a standard disk of some kind?

It did not indicate it was charging. I think it is possible that it is a power switch failure. Is there a way to test that?

If it's not indicating a charge, and the battery has enough of a charge to boot... it's DOA.
Sounds like a mobo failure. Sorry.
Check for a displaced ribbon cable connection and evidence of a fried component(s).
Not sure if a charge port pcb failure could cause this or not.
If it is a mobo failure, is there a way to get the data from the internal storage still? Is the internal hard drive on the mobo?

My thoughts, maybe correct or not...
There's probably a way to directly access the internal memory at a test point on the mobo but that's getting into some intense data recovery.
If the circuit is damaged in such a way that the test point isn't functional* (if it exists) then the chipset would need to be desoldered and put in a test rig or another mobo to access it... if the chipset itself wasn't fried (and didn't get damaged or corrupted in the process).
That's a lot of if's... and probably not something you want to pay an expert to >try< and do.
You can contact the manufacturer and see what they say.
If you can connect to a PC via ADB or find/repair the damage that's about your only shot.
Much easier to always backup your critical data redundantly beforehand... lightning strikes fast and unpredictably.
*or repair the damaged mobo or whatever failed

The best you can find. The data is probably toast unless it's an easy fix otherwise you have no easy way to access the memory.
Try what I stated before... it will be a journey.
The reason I backup my data, redundantly, is because I have lost entire databases. Consider it a lesson from the University of Hard Knocks if you can't recover it.
Hey, I found a solution for this problem.
I had same problem with my s9+ but it sometimes turned on but stayed at 0% battery charge for hours.
I used an wireless charger from Anker, put my s9+ there and waited for a hour.
After an hour, the phone automatically booted with 5% battery charge.
Maybe this will work for you too. Grab one of those Anker stands from Amazon if you have prime subscription, use it to charge the phone and then after restoring your data, just return the charger and I would recommend to replace the battery. You know, the s9+ is quite old by now and since it's an non-removable battery, it's better to do it now than experience the same story again.
