hi guys,
Yesterday i noticed that my "back" button on my S2 wount work,so i tried to fixed it.
Other keys worked perfectly so i thought that can't be hardware problem, must be software, but it wasnt.
I tried the factory reset, but my phone stuck at the samsung logo,so i flashed it again with a new FW...that didn't help for the button, but my phone worked again. Then i wanted to change the menu (right button) to be the back button, but i can't find any working app to do make the change...
Any help, tips and such would help me...if any one had the same problem and fixed him without taking him to the samsung service, please share your expiriance,
thank you in advance...:fingers-crossed:
Try changing your kernel?

Try button savier app.
Taking it to a repair centre might also do the trick.
BTW, it's in your other right.

Hey guys, been in work today . walking to work listning to my music on my x10 with headphones, everythings working fine.. as far as i could tell..
got home from work (didnt listen to music on my phone on the way home) updated my firmware via SEUS and now my volume down button doesnt seem to be responding.
The button looks fine itsself , I did the secret menu trick and tested the button on here, but it still doesnt respond which makes me think its a hardware problem (which i find hard to beleive)...
Does this mean its defiantly a hardware issue since it still doesnt pick up last key used when pressing volume down button on the secret menu .. test ..
Just plugged in my USB cable .. volume button down is now working. When i unplug it , it stops working .. Weird!!
volume down button problem
Hi, I have exactly the same problem. The volume down button is not working (most of the time). Unfortunatelly, when I went to the service with it, it worked...
Then I read your post and tried the USB cable trick, and it behaved as you wrote: when I plug it in, the button operates, then I unplug and become faulty again.
Please tell me if you found a solution meanwhile. I have Android 2.1, but I don't think that the upgrade killed it. (I bought it with 1.6)
Thanks, blanketta
I have the same problem - have booked it in under warranty as the man on the phone said software problems are covered.
BUT what if it starts working when they look at it...
Have any of u having problems tried seus again, or flashtool since the problem started? I would give that a shot. Try one or both method again.

i've the same problem, im using CM6 and it works very good, except for this problem with the volume down.
when i enter into xrecovery, it doesnt work either, only volume up... so i guess its hardware problem
the usb trick doesnt work either
help please!
Try repairing the phone in SEUS and give a try again...I am sure it'll work
today in the morning, it works, no problems.
but now its not working again...
i'll do a repair by seus... and see if works
Hi,
did anyone fixed or risolved this problem?
Bye.
did anyone ever solve this issue...this is occurring to my x10
I've got the same problem -.- .....but no solution either
Same bizarre problem here. Volume down working when USB cable plugged, not working otherwise.
i had same problem but resolved it by holding volume down for about 5 seconds and it started responding again.
I'm afraid its got nothing to do with the software and such. I was able to sort out mine by opening the phone and putting a 3x fold sheet of thick paper on top of the micro usb port then closing it. Its more or less design problem of the phone. =/
Hi everyone.
I got some trouble with my Samsung Galaxy S II.
The home button (the physical one just under the screen) sometimes work and sometimes doesn't want to work anymore.
I'm trying to understand why it works or doesn't.
I'm going to try to reset the firmware and put the original kernel back.
If someone got some advices,
Thanks.
Update : Still doing the trick, Back to original fw and kernel changed nothing.
How can a that expensive phone have a button that sometimes works, sometimes doesn't ?
It is an hardware problem i guess ...
Noone faced the same problem ?
I unlockt my sgs2 and it worked finally. the first problem i had that after unlocking i had to enter a netcode and i didnt know the code.. i typed in 8x "0" it said its a wrong code but it worked finally.. netlock is off now and all is fine.. but now i got one problem.. its not rly a big problem but it still sucks when i open any app or programm and press the back button i always be in my messages and when i click again back button im in the dialer.. when i use back button again im in message again and so on.. i cannot go back in hopmescreen with my back button .. why is that so? do some1 got that problem too? how to fix it? Greetz
*edit: did factory reset now its all fine again!
It was probably because your home app wasn't in memory/was not running. I just killed my home app for a test and mine did the same.

Hey everyone!
Last wednesday i upgraded my phone to ICS(4.0.3) using Odin! Everything worked great until this morning. I got up and realised that my phone is in the voice command... it didn't care about it so i closed the voice commad and went back to sleep. During the day i played a lot on my phone and i always had to close voice command...it comes up many times when i'm using my phone. i got angry and deleted everything from the phone but it came up again...then i did a factory reset but it continued. I tried to uprgrade my phone using odin but something went wrong so i put back the previous rom. I did it with odin ( i didn't use any backup, i loaded up a new rom) but the voice command welcomed me again....
Any idea?
Can you check if your home button is faulty? Maybe it is and double clicks itself thus launching voice command. You are on stock ics right? What do you mean by delted everything? You uninstalled all of your apps?

Try disabling it in settings > apps
and change your thread title...It is not a virus LOL
i cannot disable this :S the button cant be because i checked it. i'm on official ICS. i think it could be something in the firmware :S
MOD: I checked it again!!! It could be the button. I don't know how to clear it or what to do. Is there any way to disable this command for double tapping?

Only way is root the mobile and remove it or take it to SC and say your problem they might fix the button (if it is button problem)
Everything above or you got a habit of double clicking the home button?
It is the button... i think i pressed it a little bit stronger than i had to and it stocked. I blowed it yesterday and now it`s OK.
I knew it. Well, congratulations on that buddy.

Hello Everyone
I have a small issue with my S6 basically what it is that the Recent apps and back button do the same thing open Recent apps. I have a look online everyone says its a software issue but i done everything Hard, Soft, Factory reset and still same. So now I know that its not software it will be the hardware. Maybe any one know witch part of the phone is responsible for the back button functions and would I be able to replace it? Without replacing the phone?
I tried to replace the one of the boards of the phone( the one that has charging port headphone jack and sothing else) but that didn't help. I cant get phone in for the warranty do to i have voided KNOX .
So any ideas would help.
Thank you all
:good:
Acutally this is software. There is a file in the system that controls what those buttons to. You can try and flash your firmware via odin to see if that fixes the issue.

Root your device use xposed and gravity box maybe fix.
If still problem use custom kernel like arter97.

Same problem here!
Back button thinks is recent apps , sometimes work sometimes not , think is an software bug or something.
The problem started after android 6 update.
Downgrade to 5.1.1 dont make a difference.
Some ideas to solve that?
I'm having the exact same issue with mine. Have a solution yet? Cleared cache, checked safe mode and factory reset. Same issue.

Mine was different. Back button was working but recent button suddenly not working. But i already change my front glass and after few days those button failed to operate. Now stuck using onscreen float button.
Hi, I have the same problem with te back key. What solved problem for me was installing the app called ,, all in one gestures'' ( free on the market),
in the app, go to the ,, hard keys'' , enable de the app from te accesability tab, at the back key tab select single tap and select the ,, back '' from the submenu.
Hope works for you guys !
Regards !
