Jedi 14 gps - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hi all I been wanting to use the Touchwiz Jedi 14 ROM for a while now. Only problem is no matter what I do I cannot get GPS to lock. When I open maps the GPS icon doesn't show up showing its searching. I have to open navigation to see its searching. I have downloaded this ROM 4 times, each time to try something new. Does anyone have any advice? I really want to run this ROM, but I gotta have GPS. Any help or direction is always appreciated.

I had same issue....all I had to do is go back to your previous rom and turn in gps and get a lock . .then go straight into recovery and flash jedi!!
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium

That worked for you? I tried that once with no luck. I will give it another try though. I just loaded pacman and was about to set it up. Thanks for your input.

Yes It worked for me....I flashed stock rom and turned on gps, got a lock and went directly into recovery and flashed jedi, worked right away!! Hopefully it will work for you also

Also if that don't work. ...try the gps quick fix under jedi rom tricks
Sent from my SCH-I605 using xda premium

I tried the quick fix before with no luck. Gonna give the lock and switch a go once more, maybe without a wipe. I really hope I can get a lock. GPS is very important to me. I love the way Jedi looks and runs. Just enough customization for my taste.
Sent from my GT-P3110 using xda app-developers app

Any luck?! If that dont work I would maybe try jedi 13 and see if gps works, I installed it on acouple friends phones and gps worked on both right away. Just an option....

Jedi ROMS and GPS
I have flashed several Jedi ROMS over the last two years and I have always gone back to stock for the sole purpose of GPS. I have tried all the fixes and none of them have ever resolved the problem for me. I like many others LOVE the Jedi ROMS but require GPS to function as well as it does on stock ROM. When a GPS fix that is solid comes around, I will be right back on Jedi. I would love it if someone could find and honest clean resolution for this issue.

I feel you man. Definitely feel the same way. I have heard of several Verizon Jedi users getting there lock, but not me. I have tried everything I know to try at least 5 times each (literally). I am in the same boat as you, gotta have my GPS working. I am gonna keep trying with each new update though.

GPS not working on Shotstock

Hi, my GPS is not working on latest Shostock. I wiped cahce, dalvik, and fixed permission already 3 times and nada. I'm in the current jeboo kernel too. Not sure if it can be rom related or phone related. I came of a fresh wiped factory reset when upgrading as had the known bootloop for a bit. Any ideas

Probably just a fluke. When switching roms you may need to do it again.

I see... i didn't have the problems when using Task Aokp but i wanted to try sho, and frankly i love it. Just had a few small issues and task has been working on 4.2 now so it will be some time until it's awesome. It's no biggie now that i got the fix. I love shostock. Wish the new syiyah would support dual boot for it.

Note 2 newb just unlocked

Hi guys, I am very new to the Note 2. I just unlocked and rooted the latest ota using Casual. Thanks to Adam Outler and everyone else involved. So my question is which ROMs are compatible with this ota? Basic question I'm sure. I came from the Razr and the kernel had to match so I assume its the same here? Anyone willing to shed some light on this for me would be greatly appreciated.

Any rom you want as long as it is in the VZW Note 2 threads can be flashed ours arent locked down by what update we are on because our bootloader is unlocked where it isnt on Moto phones. AOSP roms require AOSP kernels as TW roms require TW kernels. The roms come with kernels though so that isnt something tk worry about unless you I want to.
The only thing to remember is if you go to a 4.2 rom and want t I go back to 4.1 you have to flash a downgrade zip so your SD card doesnt become corrupted. You can find the downgrade zip in the Official CM 10.1 thread in the OP.
Check out Droidstyles guide in Android Development, its a sticky, it explains quite a bit and would ne helpful to you I think.

Thanks for the info. Exactly the answers and info I was looking for. I just flashed CleanROM and went through the flashing process. When it got to the end and said finish to reboot it just turned off and wouldnt turn back on. Couldn't get to recovery or download mode. I had to pull the battery and then turn it on. It went straight to the new ROM though without a hitch. Is that a normal part of the flashing procedure on the N2? The battery pull I mean, or did I miss something?

Thats not a normal thing to happen, but it does happen occasionally. As long as it boots up after the battery pull I wouldnt be too worried by it. I have had it happen to me before and after the battery pull I experienced no issues whatsoever.

CleanROM's good. It was the first ROM I flashed when I got my Note II too.
Eventually though, you may want to switch to something more feature-rich like Jelly Beans, which is what I'm rocking now. The features it adds are pretty awesome and you get full touchwiz functionality (S-Pen and the like) with the look of AOSP.
DL'ing Jelly Beans now. Gotta make a new TiBu before flashing though. Will give it a go shortly. My wife fusses at me sometimes cause on my old phone (Razr) and on this one I am always flashing different ROMs. She especially hates it when she calls and my phone goes directly to voicemail cause I am in recovery flashing a ROM or kernel.

Hi all, I'm feeling like a n00b on the Note too, and really appreciate the help all of you seem to be willing to share with each other. I'm not new to modding phones, recently I've been through an S3, DNA, RAZR HD and M, and even another Note 2. I made the mistake of swapping the Note 2 for an iPhone 5, and regretted it about thirty seconds later. Now that's my wife's phone, and due to the grace of another (local) xda member, I'm back rockin' the Note 2. This time around in looking forward to getting into some serious flashing and tweaking to get the most from the hardware. I've decided this is Verizon's best phone at the moment, with everything I need.
Don't worry, you're not alone in having a wife who gets annoyed at flashing and tweaking. Happens to me all the time, but I use the excuse it's one of the few hobbies that I have which doesn't involve the rest of the family and I need a bit of alone time. It kind of works as an excuse until the point where I need to use it again.
I'm looking forward to being part of this community and wanted to say hello.

I like jedi X rom...I got 3 days off my battery with just the right settings...my recommendation is to not mess with the per app dpi for the settings app because now I'm stuck without a settings app and about to switch roms...just about any rom will work as long as it's for your carrier... Best of luck!

GPS won't work

I am on Jedi Rom. Gps won't work no matter what. Won't work on Google maps, won't work on navigation, won't work in any apps. Its accurate up to 3200 meters... That's over a freakin mile. Anyone have a fix for this? It worked fine before I went to this rom.
I need this fixed soon because I'm taking a trip and need my phone for navigation.

Just download it and that's it or do I need to open it up somewhere and install it? Because it didn't work after I downloaded it.
I tried every fix posted in the last month. Nothing worked.
Flashed all kind of zip's that said it would fix the GPS lock. NADA
Flashed ROM's that Guaranteed to fix the GPS. NADA
Installed apps that said it would get lock. NADA
Nothing worked so as a retired Submarine Missile Technician I went to the nuclear option.:fingers-crossed:
I got a Rom I thought would be close to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261478 got the Deodex ver.
Reformatted the Micro sd (fat32)
Booted to recovery and "factory reset" 5X
Wiped Cash and delvac 5X
One more reset. (Said I was nuking it)
Flashed the rom and Gapps, went outside and got Lock
Did what I do be overkill?......yep. But I got GPS lock back. (also flashed Faux kernal and kept lock)

If you're willing to try something switch to global mode reboot and try gps again. You may need to use an app like pimp my rom. You'll most likely lose data. This works on moon rom, obviously this makes the rom unusable for anything phone related until you switch back to lte which losses gps. If anyone is willing to try this let me know if it worked for you. I'm trying to figure out why some of us are affected with this weird issue.

GPS Lock help needed

I'm having VERY long GPS lock times and it won't hold for very long. I've noticed this in the last few months of roms and I keep my roms up to date. I use my phone for navigation and it used to be very good, quick to lock and stayed locked but since May its pretty much impossible to use. I use Waze and GMaps, GMaps is a little more consistent but still not as good as the past. I'm currently on the latest uXYLON but like I said this has been happening for the last 3 months or so independent of what rom I use and the last month its gotten impossible to navigate with.
I tried to fix it by installing the US GPS.config file with no success.
So please any suggestions throw them my way!

I also rely heavily on GPS navigation and ran into this same problem too a while back. I was flashing many different roms and think I flashed a couple of different kernels as well. I believe the problem I had was kernel based and even flashing back to stock touchwiz didn't help. The solution was to Odin back, rather than flash, to stock. Hope this helps you. And please respond back if this does work for you. Good luck

turn off gps.
download the following
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Double.FasterFix
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest
Start fasterfix and set to your optimised server. close ffix
Open gpstest, go to settings, click clear agps then update agps. Close gpstest
turn on gps, start gpstest. First time starting, it may take a minute or 2.
Hopefully this helps you.
edit- the note is actually very easy to open. this video will help http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pD9R-YUT69Q
I tried to pry it open and for whatever reason I could not get the phone open. Yes I took the screws out haha. Well whatever I did seemed to do something because the reception improved, signal dropped a little occasionally but its fine now. Thankfully the note 3 is close!
Thank you for all your help!!!!!

There's lots of GPS fixes for every ROM, I had the same problems you did, used google, got it working. You can search the individual threads as well. There's so many different fixes for everybody you got to try them out and see what works for you.

You really shouldn't be having any problems on CleanROM it's very very similar to stock. Whatever ROM you're on, you should post your problems in that thread plus search that thread. It's the only way you'll get somebody that can actually help you.

In my experience, clean rom always fixes issues I have. If a vzw version of clean rom doesn't properly work on your phone, you might have a faulty device. Because that guy's roms are money.

I have no issues with any Verizon based roms such as Clean or Beans, but any ported or intnl rom I cannot get the GPS to come on or get a fix. I have tried every fix that I can find applicable to Note 2 and even some s3 on every forum that has come up in searches. Would love to use Novella, but still looking for a fix that will make this dang Verizon Note 2 work. Tried different firmware/basebands, replacing or adding the proper libs, getting a fix on a different rom then flashing, GPS fix trick with restore, still no dice. I am still looking for something that will work. Even tried the "press upper right corner thing" and tighten screws. And combinations of all those things. I know its not a GPS problem with hardware as it works on every Verizon based rom. Good luck...I am still looking.

The Rom has a GPS quick-fix, that doesn't work for my device, and I've tried several from the market. It's infuriating...

let it sit for a minute or two after youve gone through the aroma installer. and it gives the green button to reboot. no need to wait ten mins but i have locked my phone up a few times flying through install and rebooting right away. if it happens though just pull your battery and pop it right back in and itll boot back to recovery. then i always flash again
