Hey guys. I had my phone rooted a little bit ago, and then decided to unroot. Being the wishy washy person I am, I now want to root again. Only problem is, when I try and root again it fails in odin every time. All I can do is reboot. Please help me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

First things first, which Verizon release are you on VRUAMDK or VRUAME7? Also you need to provide more information. What fails? What step of the root process are you on?

VRUAME7 and when I try and root, it fails when it first tries to do the boot option.
Also I just realized that I have been trying to flash VRUAMD2. I think that may be the problem. If so, I need the correct file to flash. Sorry for being so dumb.

Hi Guys,
I used the easy root method and i want to unroot and return to stock. From my understanding when rooting you actually downgrade your software/radio version. I downloaded the file under the thread easy unroot, but how do i load it?

Download that file and rename to PG05IMG.zip, boot into hboot and phone should do the rest.
The MI1 Odin does not help. So I'd like to try the MJ7. But I can't go OTA since I can't boot past the Verizon logo.
I tried the update.zip someone posted, but I do not think that was installed on my phone.
Can someone help? Thx.

You have to put the update.zip on your SD. Boot into recovery, then update.zip from the SD.....
That was what I did. I'm not sure if it went through. I did not see any update....

As stated elsewhere, you must be STOCK to update. No "bloat" removed, no special software (like the Xposed frawework) enabled.
The update validates that all of 1500+ files are unaltered before it runs. If you've changed any of those, then it won't install.
That's why the developers have told people having problems with the update to start with flashing a stock MI1 ROM.
I posted a shell script that allows you to figure out if everything on your phone is acceptable for the update - post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=46917189#post46917189
You might want to run that to see what's blocking the OTA.
Looks like once we get the tar, there's a KNOX safe root method already - http://www.theandroidsoul.com/universal-root-de-la-vega-script/
what did it wrote when you click update.zip?
It says something like Signature Verification Failed, when I tried to update the update.zip file.
Need help so lost try to make it as short as possible.
Phone Info:
- Samsung Galaxy S4 Verizon
- Model SCH-I545
- Build JSS15J.I545VRUEMK2

Ok, I tried Rooting my Phone and I use the Soft Root that was linked by someone on the forums. Gave me SuperUser Icon and used a app that checks to see if its Rooted and said it was. Now tried using some Root app's like GameCih and it tells me I need Root Admin or Root Privileges, something to that nature, and cant use the app. Iv been trying to remove that Soft Root but cant Figure it out. Used Odin3 and redid that .tar file for my Build. All when good and got everything the same as a fresh phone, but booting up still has the Pad Lock Icon and Custom logo on it and SuperU Icon. So I cant seem to unroot it, Tried to use the I545ALL-IN-ONE-TOOL posted on these forums but cant get it to working.
So what I need so to get this unrooted and back to factory default, and Rooted the right way, with I545ALL-IN-ONE-TOOL??. Please Help

Did you flash the no wipe tar?...if so use the full wipe tar file...you will lose your app data but it will restore to 100% full unrooted mdk...the all in one will work after that

Sorry...I missed that you are on mk2...flash the full stock Odin tar for that version...the all in one package doesn't work on mk2...before flashing stock in Odin try the saferoot for 4.3...it should get you your full root access

That is what I used is the Saferoot, wasnt sure of the name, but just looked it up and thats what i have on my pc. Also I dont know how to flash it.. do I use the same Odin3 program for that? or is there another method.(Also is the Full wipe a different tar file?)
Edit: Ok I got it Flashed and back to stock now is there anything other then SafeRoot? that did not work the first time I tried it.

There are a few other methods...but I don't know them...I do know the other methods safety and security was questionable... Hence saferoot was made by trusted devs here...it should work...all the posts I have seen said they got successful root...did you open the supersu app that was installed and allow it to update binaries?... That is a very important step...if you did then make sure if you try this method again you follow each step it tells you...I don't know exactly how the process goes as I'm on4.2.2 and have to use the all in one tool for root...good luck...if it doesn't work hopefully someone who can help will chime in

Any other suggestions then? also was reading that you need ...something-strap... in order to be able to install custom Roms, is there one that you can direct me to that is just a clean Rom with just Google stuff on it i.e play store, chrome, gmail app etc. Tired of all this Verizon stuff, it just keeps updating and updating, how to ppl live with this lol

Nope, I have no idea what these applications do, but a quick search on the forums basically leads to the conclusion that they're not ready for 4.3.
Given the build you're running, you're stuck with SELinux Enforcing since you can't replace the kernel. You'll need to find something else to do whatever you're trying to do.

Hey guys, I've recently come across a VZW GS4 and I'm stuck on rooting. I know nothing about Samsung phones so this is pretty new to me. I tried towelroot and it was not sucessfull even after entering the different codes. The picture below is of the "About phone" section in settings. If you could just point me in the direction of a thread that would help me or let me know what do you, I'd really appreciate it.

How do I flash in ODIN? Just the same place as the NC5, under AP?
EDIT: Okay so not in ODIN. Like I said, I know nothing about Samsung devices. Seeing as how it is a .zip file I assume I need to flash it in a recovery on the phone. I jumped to conclusions with the wifi fix so I am now going to actually look up the proper way to apply it.

Is safestrap just the stock recovery or is it a custom like TWRP or CWM? And another thing, whenever flash an old firmware so I can root, it doesn't seem to actually change. I'm still at NK4 every time I change it. You know what I'm doing wrong? I've looked into a few different posts nothing is working. I've tried towelroot and Kingo.
And I suppose I should actually address your reply instead of just going on a tangent, I did and it put the phone in a bootloop and I have yet to address that. I just reflashed NK1 deal with it for the moment.

That is the thread I've been looking at most actually. But I just can't catch a break. Every time I try to download the files I want, my G3 fails instantly and my friends Wi-Fi just won't download at all. I think I now know an even better reason to why I've never bothered getting a Samsung haha.
Hello guys!
I just wanted to ask if it is possible to update Galaxy Note SHV-E160S 32GB Internal from JB 4.1.2 MJ1 to JB 4.1.2 MH2? The phone's build # is E160SKSJMJ1. I want to root the phone using Tegrak's but I cannot seem to find any build that is compatible with MJ1. I hope someone can help me here.
Thanks!
That would actually be downgrading. Shouldn't be a problem through in that case. Since it's the same Android version and the bootloader isn't locked, there shouldn't be a problem. Not sure why you wouldn't try the method I suggested on your other post, but whatever works for you.

Hi es0tericcha0s, since I'm a noob to this rooting process I'm still confused if TWRP can be used to root the phone. If it can, I shouldn't be needing to downgrade the FW and just use TWRP to root it?
http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu Download that on your phone, boot to TWRP, install zip, reboot, win.

You're welcome. Glad you finally got it. One more piece of advice : boot back to TWRP and make a nandroid backup. This will get you out of most trouble in case you do something you shouldn't with root.
