what does correct kernel mean? some kernel that has that same KG2 / kg3/ etc stuff with your stock kernel?

How to know which kernel is correct?
As of now I am using Sensation rom which has Siyah kernel 2.5.2 and I want to flash speedmod kernel or N.E.A.K. Kernel,
N.E.A.K. Kernel only supports sammy roms
I tried to search but I could not find out if Sensation rom is aosp or sammy do you have any idea of it?
also does speedmod kernel support both as nothing it written about it on its thread

Normally on the first page of a rom thread you will get a description what is the rom. For example MIUI is well MIUI. Hyperdroid is sammy deodex rom with of course modifications and tweaks in the build to make it better than stock.
Sensation rom is sammy deodex no aosp nothing like that. And when you normally look for an AOSP rom it normally would say it in the heading of the thread anyway.
On the kernel thread it has a guide of what roms the kernel works on and which ones it does not. Siyah works basically with any rom. CM7 to AOSP to sammy deodex. Regarding Simone's kernel which is the NEAK version or something like that it is based on only sammy stock deodex roms and that is mainly the ones in original development and android..just look out for deodex, sammy and stock rom
AS above its all a question of reading the info on the first page of the kernel post .
Plus if it does not work flash another one .
the Neak kernel should be ok been on mine for a few days .
Speedmod likewise ok have used it before .

does this means it will not work with sensation rom?

"Sammy deodex" means that the the ROM is based on Samsung stock.

Now, if you look at the VERY FIRST page for SensatioN ROM,, it says:
SensatioN ROM Features:
-Based on Samsung Firmware XWKK5 Android 2.3.6
With all of this information, you should be able to deduce that the Speedmod kernel WILL work with your ROM. If you still don't understand, I'm going to suggest you don't flash anything to your phone, for fear of ending up with a paperweight.

What type of Rom are you trying to flash?
Most custom roms include a kernel so you you will have to refresh back to your preferred kernel.
Or you can open the zip file and replace the kernel of your choice as long as it matches your firmware version, ie GB kernel for a GB rom etc.

let me add the screen shot for your help.it might shows the ROM and kernel and suggest me the best ROM and kernel for my galaxy s II.and tell me which ROM and kernel is best for battery life cause this kernel and ROM is just crap and sucks the battery.

any kernel may not work with any ROMs...almost all samsung firmware versions has got its own versions of Kernel.
In SGS2 normaly custom kernels are used for rooting your phone, like CF-root, whcih are made for almost all the samsung firamware matched kernels, you only want to pick the one matching for your ROM.
It is also seen sometimes advised to back up your Kernel, this can be done using a tool from Market called "Ktool", at a worst scenario, when your installed custom kernel giving you a treble you can restore the previous one.
EDIT : you are already on a custom ROM as well as Custom Kernel. both have got their newer versions alredy.
checkrom is now on V6, and Siyah kernel is now on v2.6.14
Well your still on gingerbread and an early kernel and early checkrom. There are many roms and kernels you can try the best for battery life us what works best for you and only you can figure that out with testing.
Try out an ICS Rom if you haven't done so already and there are now custom kernels for that as well.

On xda there are many roms with included kernels. Resurrection Remix v1.1 is my personal favorite ICS rom at this moment, with stock kernel battery life is very good. Just search on xda

I meant the kernel that is already included with the rom when you flash it. So just flash the rom and you don't need to install another kernel after it.

If you flash a rom it replaces the kernel you've been using with that of the rom you're flashing...
Soooo
Eg cm9 + siyah
If you flash a new nightly it'll replace siyah with cm9s kernel so you have to flash siyah each time.

Any either depending open kernel/ firmware version of custom rom .

Not really as long as the custom rom you'll be using is based on 4.1.2 you can either use a stock kernel or a custom one. However most custom rom developers recommend a custom kernel to be used since it provides better customization.
I am about to flash my galaxy nexus to convert it to yajku, but for that i need to be sure if phone is running stock rom, and i don't know any way to determine if it is on CUSTOM or STOCK. Can anyone please help me how to check for CUSTOM or STOCK.

simply go to settings and the about section of your phone and you would know.....most custom roms have a specific signature.... for example it will say neox rom or paranoid rom ...............stock roms just simply have the android version your running and version numbers........hope this helps

If software number is 4.16.401.10
can't anyone upload a custom rom with that signature?
For my samsung galaxy S4 you go into settings>more>about device>status>and on device status it should tell you if you are on official or custom. If you are on custom you are likely to be using some kind of different ROM. I had custom on 4.4.2 when I rooted but when I upgraded via Odin I got official.

Take the OTA to the latest firmware for the at&t s2 which is Android 4.1.2 and then root it using the frama root app (just search Google for it). Once rooted pick a kernel to flash in ODIN or mobile ODIN. For AOSP ROMs I think ktoonsez kernel works and for touchwiz ROMs AJ kerwick kernel works well. I recommend flashing AJ kernel first as it works with the stock Samsung ROM.
Once you have flashed AJ kernel boot into recovery which will now be CWM recovery. From there you can flash shoStock ROM or whizz cat ROM (see my guide here in the s2 forums on how to boot i9100 TW ROMs) or any AOSP ROMs you like. Just make sure you have an AOSP kernel for AOSP ROMs and a touch wiz kernel for TW ROMs. Most ROMs come with a kernel though.
